Rival Schools comic wishlist thread

Judging on the quality of both Street Fighter and Darkstalkers, I have complete faith in Udon's ability to take more money out of my wallet, um, I mean produce an excellent Rival Schools book. Just to make sure a few bases are touched though:

EDIT: I refer to Rival Schools and Project Justice separately. When I say "Rival Schools", I mean the first game, not the whole series.

- Akira is considered a GUY by most of the characters until about the end of the "Rival Schools" game. As much as I like helmetless Akira, please don't show her until maybe issue 4 or 5. Or halfway through Gedo's storyline, whichever comes last. (Though if the book doesn't sell as well as you hoped, feel free to whore out Akira-chan as much as you want.)

- Ran and Nagare are in Rival Schools. The version they were in just wasn't released here. Though the Gorin story should focus on Shoma, Natsu and Roberto. Nagare's appearances should be few if any until Project Justice.

- Hyo shouldn't appear until about issue 9-12. Towards the end of Rival Schools 1.

- Not only should Sakura show up, but Karin and R. Mika as well. Ibuki and Elena would be way too young though, unless you do some serious retconning...

- While I guess it would be near-impossible to faithfully translate Tiffany's fractured Japanese into the book (it didn't make the US game translation), maybe have her use the wrong word completely at times. Although if you want to go that route, and I think it'd be a better choice, Valley Girl lingo would work.

- A snowstorm reference would be LOL-tastic. Though only maybe about 15 readers would get it.

- Finally, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Hayato. Really explore the space...

The best thing ever in Rival Schools is the combined attacks between any 2 or 3 characters on some un-lucky person.

I hope they will do a lot of work on that...

- Remember that the main idea behind it all is friendship and teamwork over coming all. No one achieves anything great seperately, its all about working together. Eventually that is, I have no doubt a fair few of them will try the alone tactic to begin with.

- If you do show Akira without the helmet, just make sure no one around reconises her when she does until the end.

- "This is our school, we must fight to protect it", or something similar to that. Needs that corney line in it somewhere, even better if it came straight faced from someone like Batsu.

- Some back story on how Daigo went missing and/or got his scar would make me a happy chappy because he's just great and needs to be in it.

- Have fun with it. Serious moments here and there but with comedy all the way through as well. Not that I expected anyone doing Rival Schools not to do it without jokes.

- Just do your best with it. I played Rival Schools a hell of a lot more then I did Street Fighter (and because of availability way way way more then Darkstalkers) so I'm pretty much pumped up for this comic.

And thats about it, though seeing Roy dressed up like a cowboy and riding a horse again (its in some art) would be nifty/funny and some other things taken from art I've seen over the years.

Well...

To her credit, she is responsible for most of the storyline knowledge that most of us RS fans now take for granted. (BTW Udoneko, I'd track her down if you have questions about the storyline. Turn on your rabid, fanatical fan filters though.)

The main beef that most of the net has with her is that she's obsessed with Hyo and has all these delusions of what the game universe is. If anyone disagrees with her, she bans them from her site and whatnot.

My only request: don´t use the Rival Schools artist from the Summer Special. The narrative made no sense (sometimes i would re-read a sequence and still not understand what was happening), the use of curvilinear perspective wasn´t precise at all and the art itself was pretty average.

HAHAHAHA. I've been to rivalshcools network, it's where I got a lot of pics. I never knew Snowstorm was a girl. Thought it was a guy. Well the sex thing is a little weird tho. Ahh well I think she's nice enough. I guess I looked at the pictures on the site too much and didn't read the site enough. I never noticed the obsseion with Hyo. Any way let's turn this thread back into what it is titled. I hope they do produce the Rival Schools comic, but I think they should wait a bit. There are a lot of artist at Udon I don't like, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying it but eh, where supposed to give our opinions right? Don't get me wrond I'm not saying they should stop drawing and they suck, I'm just not crazy about their particualr drawing style. Not just for Capcom Comics, but their drawings in general. I'v heard a lot of good things about Omar...I think. Does anyone know if he's any good? Oh and just so you all know I'm not talking about the artists who do the back up stories. I enjoy the guest artists.

As for my Rival School wishlist I simply wish that as always Udon sticks fairly close to the Canon and that they take their time constructing the story. It might be beneficial to leave it for quite awhile now considering the tightness of artists between DarkStalkers and Street Fighter as it is.

Well see the thing is alot of the people here were members of RSN's forum until Snowstorm banned them, because they didnt share her views of RS.

And aside from that there are 2 other things that I "love" about her.

1) She believes almost every character in the RS cast could beat Ryu, because in RS what makes the chars strong is their sense of justice, or rather thats what she believes, and since Ryu has no sense of justice in the way the RS chars do, that means the RS chars can easily beat him, which is what she believes. Of course that might make sense if RS and SF were two diffrient univereses with diffrient sets of rules, but the truth is they arent, and a chars sense of justice has nothing to do with their power (see #2 for more) and if it did Batsu would be able to be able to shoot a fireball all the way across the screen (like Ryu can) without it fading out (which Batsu's firball does)

2) Kurow mangaes to easily beat several of the most powerful RS chars in PJ, but yet he's evil has no sense of justice, etc, etc, and Snowstorm has never been able to justify how this is possible since it contradicts her "justice believers are the strongest" crap.

But know that you guys say that I don't think she's crazy, but hey I guess everyone has to believe in something. No, cause I believe Hideo's fireball can keep going without fizzling.

And the fireball was just an example, ie Ryu's ki mastery (along with every in SF's) is higher then Batsu's, by an extrodinary level. The Ryu in the RS1 timeline would have already spent one year training with Oro (since RS takes place in 1999 and SF3TS is 1998) I actually dont think anyone in the RS cast could put up a good fight against him, as he could more then likely just Shoryuken them and finish the fight in a single blow.

Again the fireball example was only example of power in terms of ki, but it dosnt take a genius to see that Ryu easily beat Batsu (along with the rest of the RS cast basicly) Hell he could probaly take on Batsu, Kyosuke, and Hinita and win.

Now that be something Id wanna see in an RS issue, ie a SF character shows up (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, etc) one of the school trios mistakes them for an enemy, and the SFer easily beats them. Its like Panel 3 = "LETS GET EM!" Panel 4 = The trio beaten pilled atop one another, with the SFer looking at them scratching their head saying something like "You guy's have got alot of spirit, but this wasnt needed was it?" ie something very comical.

As for her being made fun of, hey, people make fun of me and my fanboyism all the time. Goes with the territory. You should be able to laugh at yourself I think. And if like Snowstorm you like, ban TiamatRoar writer of the SF Plot Canon Guide TWICE well, don't expect us to throw a party in your favor.
