Al right the new issue is out and i enjoyed every second.
Spoilers:
Ken's dad from Street fighter IIV made an apearance.
Seeing Balrog(boxer)punched the shit out that car in a hoody was Tight!:badboy:
And sakura actually fighting and winning was good too.

Point out:
A question was posted on what was ken hit after he made hadoken, it was Vega(ninja) foot.

Back up:
Although I love keron grant's work on this , it was still kinda sketchy.
Great to see R.mika finally making a debut in the comics, and hilarious to find zangief not knowing the match was real or not.

Cheapshots:
It finally ends. I would like to see more of the duo in a much more comedic light(like Larry demonstrate to his friend he can SFAlpha or 3rd Strike with a DDR pad)

Keep up the good work Udon, and can't wait what happens next.
Spoiler:
Will Ryu dodge the bullet, or will Sakura make it in time ?

I liked "G.I. Guile" and Ryu cracking a joke. Good stuff!

So, with R.Mika in the back up, they've got all the SFZ(Alpha) characters minus Juli and the Final Fight characters. And one more issue to end the SFZ Arc. So, will we get Juli soon with a T.Hawk tie in and Final Fight in a Metro City story later?

Anyway, I felt the artwork this month was very consistent, even if that blurry kick to Ken's face confused me a bit.

Man, Balrog(ninja) won the rematch! Oooh... looks like they are setting things up for Balrog vs. Ken in SF2.

Oh, and Mike Bison(Boxer) is da man! I loved how he was explaining weapon differences to his thugs.

The back up was pretty funny, R.Mika fake wrestling, HA! HA!

Actually, we've seen ALL the characters from the Alpha series and SFII, except the Final Fight chars, Juli and Dhalsim...

Where is Dhalsim, Udon? Where is Dhalsim?

Oh yeah, I meant as in SFZ(alpha) original characters as opposed to SF2 ones. And as far as SF2 goes we still haven't seen T.Hawk either.

We know that Ryu is supposed to visit Dhalsim and the next arc will begin with Ryu traveling so it's probably coming up. And I'm wondering if he'll be traveling with Sakura or if Sakura will get spun off to Rival Schools and Ryu will be alone.

Just picked it up 20 minutes ago. Good issue, overall.

My only complaint is that sometimes the panels got hard to follow. Guess I'm just used to a horizontal flow as opposed to the vertical one they used at times.

Probably the only issue out of all of them to leave you with a real cliffhanger ending making you NEED to get the next issue.

Ending the issue in the middle of the fight is a good touch. Can't wait for next month.

On a related note, I still haven't got my Series 1 toys in the mail yet, and Heroes and Fantasies still hasn't gotten any SF Eternal Challenges in. This angers me.

Definately a great, consistent issue. I loved the art and excellent story pacing. It was such a balance of character development and ass kicking. What tension it is to end an issue like that! I like that every one had a good amount of appearance. Interesting to see Cammy and Blanka's relation. I think the only thing I I'd wish is a consistent look for Julia. She's been a dark brunette, a dirty blonde, to a blonde in separate issues. But hey, maybe she just loves the hair dye.
This issue was such a great turn in the story arc. Thanks Udon.

Juli was in that group Doll scene of all the Dolls fighting Chun-Li's father, wasn't she? She was the one being slammed to the ground by him at the beginning of that scene, I think. Unless that was Satsuki, but it looked like Juli to me.

Course, that was just one panel...

Picked this issue up along with the DS#3 Powerfoil. The foil was surpisingly cheap, only $5 Canadian.

I agree with wakasashe that there is a good mix of characterization and action in this issue, which is great. I particulary liked how Vega is portrayed, confident and vicious. Backstory was fun - good to see Mika show up.

Keep up the good work.

Great issue overall. Vega and Balrog are two sedestic MFers, arent they? Glad to see Zangief in another backup and great to see Mika finally appear. I would love to see Zangief,Mika and Karin appear in the main story arc though, I know zangief will, hopefully Karin and Mika also. I guess the third arc is where Ryu picks up and travels to India to meet Dhalsim. Sakura should go and atleast make it through another arc or two.I mean, she hasn't even done any serious fighting yet,and it seems she is just getting started. She beat up a few thugs in this issue, which was cool, just want her to get some serious fights in with other street fighters. I guess issue 15 will focus on Bison's return and more on Rose and hopefully Sagat will show up again. I am also guessing the third arc(6-8 issues) will finish up the alpha story and the fourth arc will take us into the setups for the street fighter 2 tourney.

HORRIBLE ISSUE.i loved seeing the white men beat down all those stereotypical black men from "the hood".oh, and cammy was just great in this issue! with her being on only one forgettable page and all. and is it just me or was this cover COMPLETELY irrelevant to the source material?

First things first ... BlackWidow ... Ug. By white men you mean Ken and Guile right because Ryu isn't white and Sakura isn't a man or white.

Loved this issue although i do feel that things are starting to pull away from a kinda Street Fighter feel. But hey the Alpha arc is almost done right. Back up story was VERY pleasing. I've been waiting for R.Mika to show up.

My Speculation for next issue!

The way i see it there are probally 2 ways to do the "ryu with a gun pointed at him" angle. I see it both ways with Sakura defending her master. Thought 1: She'll finally fire off her first Hadouken(sp) and in the aftermath Ryu will stop training her because of how dangerous things are getting and he can't be responsible if she gets hurt badly (after seeing what happened to ken). OR Thought 2(i like this thought better): Sakura fills with anger that someone pulls a gun to kill her beloved master and the dark hadou takes her. She goes all out on the guy, scaring the crap out of Balrog (he runs off saying this S*&( is crazy) and Ryu has to put Sakura down to keep her from killing the thug. Ryu then says that he can no longer train her in the arts because the power of the dark hadou is something that should never develope in her. Ryu sends her back home.

Then next i'm speculating on what i'd like to see with Guile Vs. Vega. I would love to see guile go all out on Vega. At first Guile is kinda losing as parts of his clothes get slashed up. Vega stands over him talking about possibly making him another Agent Shadow (a life of servitude to him as punishment for entering the fight). Guile remembers how they made Nash into Shadow. He criss-crosses his arms grabbing his sleeves and tears them off to reveal his American Flag tatoo and arms bulging tense. Guile, in a rage, lands a few combos on Vega while saying things like "You bastards are the reason why Charlie is dead" and things like that. Guiles' daughter runs from her mothers grasp and peeks in the door to see her daddy fight the "bad guys" and her mother follows after her. THey both peek in through the cracked door to hear Guile talking about Nash and how vega "murdered" him (in a way they did). This is the point where Guiles' wife has sympathy for his cause and give him the okay to compete in the next SF tournament to avenge his friend. Vega tries for a slash at Guiles midsection but guiles backflips away and turns the backflip into a Flash Kick, sending Vega into the air dazed. As vega is about to land, guile finishes up with a trademark uppercut which sends him up again. Guile then dashes back and lets out a sonic boom that catches Vega in the stomach, sending him through the wall and out of the hotel. End of fight.

Any ways ... this is what i'd like to see ... or rather how i'd like to see it.

... just one more thing ... is it just me or did Balrog not seem like a street fighter at all. He seems more like a common thug kinda guy ... i'm not seeing what's making him special. And that was a car he punched? I couldn't tell what that was. ... i thought it was the wall or something.

I can't wait to see the story pick back up with Dhalsim and Sagat. As far as cheap shots go ... I'd like to see them go back to single contained stories. I loved "Psycho Balled" ...

First off, resolution of Ryu at gunpoint: Have we all forgotten that Bison needs Ryu and that Vega & Balrog work for Bison? Vega will slaughter the gunman... turning his back on Guile... and we all know that's never a good idea...

Second off, while I enjoyed seeing R. Mika in action, please tell me I DID NOT just see Zangief job to R. Mika. No freakin' way. While Zangief isn't exactly top-tier in the SF universe, he's easily head and shoulders above anyone introduced in the Alpha series, except maybe Rose...

Also, did I see either Alpha 2 Gief or Z-ism Gief in that backup, because I know Gief doesn't have a Lariat super, yet I saw him do the Lariat with blue afterimages.

Finally, LOL @ Balrog using his Raging Buffalo super to knock his henchmen out of the way.

I'm also slightly distraught by Zangief getting beat by R.Mika. Although, you could just chalk it up to not being familiar with a different variation of wrestling. I mean, he got punched below the belt, after all. :p Still, I don't know if Mika should've been able to handle that suplex like she did.

I have to admit i'm alittle upset that Zangief keeps losing (in his 2 matches). Mostly because in games like Marvel Vs. Capcom i've played people who schooled me using Zangief. I feel like such a loser now. Losing to ken i understand... but R.Mika kinda feels wrong ... seems like it should have been a cheap shot not a back up story. No way R.Mika could have walked off that power bomb like that even if she is a stunt wrestler. I'd like to see a back up where Zangief, now totally depressed from his losses, goes back to russia to wrestle more bears to prep for the tournament. I'd be funny to see Kuma from Tekken in the backround (like how they cameo'd for Tekken (Jun and Kayzua) in the Cammy V. DeeJay back story).

I think Ryu should dodge the bullet next issue. In SF2 the Animated movie, he jumped real high to avoid gunfire. In SF2V, Ryu and Ken feared no bullets, but Dhalsim told them to think of the people behind them. In the SFZ Anime, he straight up dodged the bullets. I think for comic books, it's important to have someone dodge bullets. You know, as in "faster than a speeding bullet."

And I never want to see SNH Sakura in any of these books. Next they will have her struggling with SNH and she will REALLY become just like Ryu. It will ruin the whole "Go get'em Sakura! You can do it!" chaaracter we all know and love. Leave SNH Sakura to the vs. games.

I loved Mike Bison punching away those thugs, but what exactly happened with the car he hit? Between this and Balrog(Ninja's) foot hitting Ken, I don't think the blurring effects worked to well here. That's my only gripe.

As for what I want to see - Sakura gets another E-Mail from Hinato. "Justice High School has gone nuts! HEEEEELP!" And Sakura goes off to the Rival Schools comic. After Ryu finds Dhalsim and beats him, he hauls tail over to Metro City in search of strong fighters and meets Chun-Li (I WANT MY TWO FAVORITE CHARACTERS TO MEET ALREADY!!!!) who's investigating thugs like her SVC ending. There they meet Guy, Cody (not in jail yet), Haggar, Rolento, and Sodom and we have a fake Final Fight story arc much like that episode off the USA SF Cartoon, only with Chun-Li instead of Ken. And then the comic falls to financial ruin for listening to a fanboy on the Net. I put my faith in Ken Siu-Chong, he's done an excellent job so far!

... i kinda don't like the whole "faster than a speeding bullet" theroy. The thing that i like about Street Fighter is that they're all humans who are trained in the arts ... they're not superman. Almost kinda like "if i try really hard i could do a sonic boom too" kinda feel. In all honesty ... if the thug pulls the trigger ... ryu should die.

Gouki can blow up mountains, destroy islands, send people to hell for one second, and Ryu can carry a rock that weighs tons and his Shin Shoryuken has been stated to be able to kill a man. The Hadouken alone should tell you they are super human.

Capcom confirmed that all the stuff Ryu can do in the SFZ Anime is stuff he can actually do, which includes dodging bullets. All of the Animes actually show you this.

And people have dodged/evaded bullets in real life. Some of it has to do with judging the direction the bullet has coming. Not at the level of Superman but it has happened.

Irish Gamer
02-17-2005, 11:37 AM
... were talking like a superman/spiderman kinda reflex. Okay ...judging the dodge is okay ... but i don't wanna see any super human speed going on here. just judgement. I try to ignore the SF cartoons/anime that aren't SF2:TAM ... that's the only one that seemed any good to me.

I don't doubt that Ryu can actually dodge bullets, but for overall storyline enjoyment, how cheap is that? Either:

1) Sakura saves Ryu's life with a Hadouken. This would also write Sakura out of the story as she used Ryu saving her life as an excuse to follow him around... Although I would like to see her for a few more issues after this. At least have her meet Karin in a main story page... And more Grumpy, Surly Kei!

2) Ryu does get shot, albeit not fatally, but this would write him out of the book for a while and as Ryu = Street Fighter, this wouldn't work. It's like writing Optimus Prime out of Transformers and we all know what happens to a TF line when you write out Prime...

3) Vega interferes, possibly slaughtering the gunman for trying to kill the very man Bison seeks. Of course, Vega was about to fight Guile...

Also, Ryu did get shot in SF2V, but after receiving a mild gunshot wound and having a madman grind the tip of a cane into it, he was all better the next episode...

(BTW, the real person who could actually do this is alleged to be Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, who saw glowing balls of energy and dodged two bullets before taking the guy out.)

I really liked your idea of the sakura repaying the debt thing but i think she still wants to learn from him.

You could have ryu get shot ... i mean ken got slashed up. they could share a hospital room together.:) Vega turning his back on Guile would be a REALLY BAD MOVE. He's still got alot of vengence in him.

Something i would like to point out is when Guile and Family are at the Italian place and his daughter is waving at that guy on the boat. Is he delibritly meant to look like Cracker Jack from the EX Series?

and i loved the back up story. I liked how they used Wrestling terms such as Heel and Babyface, Though in Reality Zangief would have thrashed Mikas ass.

Spider should not be compare to superman when it comes to speed

Spider-man top speed is 140 miles per hour while Superman's top speed is near the speed of light.

Bullet speed depends on how fast the bullet projects from the gun.

The speed of a bullet

180 -1500 m/s / 402 miles per hour to 3,355 miles per hour

The speed of sound

761 miles per hour

the speed of the sonic boom projectal

1,522 miles per hour

Gun speeds

.22 rimfire cartridge

820 miles per hour to 1,022 miles per hour

.22 centerfire cartridge

1,635 miles per hour to 2,044 miles per hour

.22 Swift

First off,Sakura NEEDS to stay around atleast until end of third arc. I mean,at first Ryu was going to make a decision on Sakura according to Udon's describition of the issue, but Udoneko said himself they have slowed the storyarc down and the third arc will be more of a transition period from alpha to 2. Rose,Mika,Karin,Juni,Juli,Dan,Gen and even Sakura to a degree still have unresolved storylines. And I mean VERY much unresolved.

Here is what we need to see next arc-
GEN AND AKUMA DEATHMATCH
KARIN AND SAKURA REMATCH(IN MAIN STORY)
DAN TRYING TO AVENGE HIS FATHER IN A MATCH WITH SAGAT
THE WHOLE ROSE/BISON THING(MAY TAKE 3 OR 4 ISSUES)
THE DOLLS COMING BACK INTO REALITY AND FIGHTING BISON AND/OR VEGA AND CAMMY
SAKURA,RYU,KEN,GUILE,CHUN LI IN SOME SORT OF BATTLE/FIGHT WITH SHADOWLOO WITH BISON THERE

And not to mention that the Rose/Bison thing will be going more into detail in the next arc,so if Rose hasnt even been killed by Bison yet, what makes people think Sakura,Karin and R. Mika are by any means through with? They also mentioned doing a backup with the fight with Sagat and Go Hibiki,so the third arc should focus on going through transitions between alpha and 2 and should at the very least be 8 issues long like the second arc. If Udon jumps into the third arc with the idea of street fighter 2 characters only then would be seriously fucked up, but I dont see how they could with so many unresolved issues at hand.

Sagatryu

weight class isn't about speed , it's about strength if there was a class about speed it would be call speed class.

Ryu's on spider-man's level when it comes to strength and Probably toughness too

only speed feat I seen in the comic was bison dodging sonic booms.

Guile and Charlie actually use their ki to move thier limbs at super sonic speeds

The Sonic Boom is actually created by using ki. Nash will concentrate his ki into his hand, arm of whatever and thrusts it at a speed faster than sound. When someone is hit by the Sonic Boom, it'll feel like getting smashed into a brick wall. It's also colder than Russia's winter

so sonic boom is colder than -50C to -68C

sano you also forgot the part about Gouki withstand the extreme pressures of the deep ocean. ( and no this wasn't in a anime he did this in the cannon storyline)

Street Fighter Alpha 2: Gouken's student, Ryu, has tracked Akuma down, and challenges Akuma as a fighter. Akuma, always looking for worthy foes, tests Ryu's mettle at his island, Gokuento. Akuma is very impressed by Ryu's skill, and tells Ryu about the Satsu no Hadou power within Ryu. He wants that power to awaken within Ryu, and tells Ryu that once it does, Ryu should seek Akuma out again so they could have a real match [Official]. Akuma then forcefully slams his fist into the ground, and the island of Gokuentou sinks into the sea, with Ryu escaping just in time [Conjecture from Ryu's SFA2 ending].

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Akuma develops "the ultimate technique", Kongou-kokuretsuzan. It is so powerful that it splits an entire mountain, Ayers Rock, in half! [Akuma's SF3DI ending]. Considering that he's a secret character, I'm pretty sure he didn't register and sign up for the tournament, just like how he didn't sign up for the SF2 tournament.

Akuma is still training. He has developed himself so much that he is now powerful enough to do inhuman acts, such as stay deep under the ocean. While training there, he uses the Tenshoukairekijin to destroy a sunken ship. Observed by a submarine, the crew members are shocked. The move is so powerful that it causes the sunken ship to be blasted to the surface, causing chaos even for another ship on the water [Akuma's SF3TS ending].

Tiger shot - The damage feels like getting mauled by a ferocious tiger. The temperature is freezing cold

Tiger's bite force is 1,000 psi now

Tiger cannon hits you for 6 hits so it feels like getting mauled by 6 ferocious tigers

1000 x 6 = 6,000

Zangief was inspired to learn the spinning piledriver one day when he got caught in a cyclone while piledriving a bear.

Zangief wrestles Polar Bears

1,750lbs pound bear can hit for 5,250 pounds of force ( PSI)

Balrog killed one of Dhalsim's elephants for the hell of it, most likely using the Gigaton punch. Balrog... is a very powerful guy. ( this happen in the cannon storyline)

Cody can break through a 50 cm thick cement wall.

50 cm thick Cement wall / 1'7" thick Cement wall is extremely hard.

Once Gou left Sagat with only one eye at the fighting tournament, he suffered massive internal injuries (internals rupturing, torn up good for taking away Sagat's eye) which ultimately led to his later death.

Cammy
...it was a stormy day, and at the fortress of the B.I.S. around a portion the special operatives housings, a power outage occurred due to a landslide.
A soldier working in the area made his to way to the landslide's location, where he came across Cammy.
Cammy was badly injured when the B.I.S. discovered her. It was expected that it would take 2 months for her to fully recover from the injuries.
Cammy was placed under Colonel Wolfman's supervision/care. As he was looking through Cammy's belongings, he noticed a pendant that read, "CAMM740106". With that in mind, Wolfman named the girl "Cammy". (I'm assuming that this was the story before the Alpha series was created)
Despite being seriously injured, Cammy fully recovered in a week, much to her doctor's surprise.
One day, Commander W. Watson visited the Delta Red HQ in order to observe/study Cammy's progress. With great speed, Cammy unexpectedly attacked the Commander. Fortunately Colonel Wolfman came to the Commander's rescue and narrowly intercepted Cammy's assault, nearly at the risk of his own life.
After observing Cammy's extraordinary physical capabilities, army executives showed interest in using her as their personal human weapon. Watson, troubled by the possible consequences/ramifications of that decision, decided to place Cammy's safety in Colonel Wolfman's hands.
Cammy's first mission/assignment as a Delta Red member was to arrest the leader of Shadaloo. Delta Red was told that Shadaloo was a small, weak and undeveloped crime organization. In actuality, England's information Bureau very little information on Shadaloo's condition/status.
Her (Cammy's) spirit unstable due to her one-time Shadoloo brainwashing sessions, Delta Red's missions provided a comeback for herself.
Cammy began remembering that M. Bison was somehow connected to her past while participating in the SF2 tournament.

The paragraph below decribes what took place in between the explosion of the Shadaloo base in SFA3 and Cammy arriving on the doorsteps of the England Information Bureau. This is either or official or just the webmaster's way of explaining how Cammy ended up on the doorsteps of the England Information Bureau:
Apparently, Vega (spaniard) briefly safeguarded Cammy immediately after the Shadaloo base exploded during SFA3. Afterwards, a mentally unstable Cammy aimlessly wandered all over the world, with little memory of the events that previously took place. She was taken into Interpol custody for a brief period to escape Shadaloo, who had been pursuing her for some time. Unfortunately, Cammy was eventually recaptured, brainwashed, and began working for Shadaloo again.
As it turns out, the landslide disaster was part of Shadaloo's plan to plant Cammy into the British Empire. Obviously, Cammy losing her memory and forgetting her mission/objective wasn't part of M. Bison's plan.

I got a pretty good idea what happens next: Sakura FINALLY throws a hadoken, knocking the hell out of the would-be shooter. Ryu then steps up her training, leading to her leaning the OTHER techniques she has in the games.

Now THAT sounds more feasible.

Wouldn't this be more of a Rival Schools matchup?

Ryu can probably dodge bullets if it's the right distance. if Gunman has the gun point blank at ryu's head then no he can't dodge it.

Loved the issue.
I liked how Guile is going to have to fight Vega, should be interesting, especially if his wife turns around and sees what exactly her husband does. (saving Ken, Eliza)

I think the colorists are overusing the blur technique. At times it was a little hard to tell whos was being hit with what. Arn went through all the effort to add the speedlines, I think they should make the most of them.

As far as the cliffhanger is concerned:
I'd like to see Sakura do something like that. It was my first instinct upon seeing the issue's end. But everyone's forgetting about Balrog, who spent the entire fight just trying to get to Ryu. He's still on his way to Ryu when the guy pulls the gun.

So it'll most likely be Sakura using the Hadoken with Balrog clocking her afterwards so he and Ryu can fight, or Balrog clocks the guy and takes on Ryu, while Sakura gets interrupted by another thug.

I just wanted to say that issue 13 was great. Great cover, better artwork than the previous issue or few and a cliffhanger at the end, lol...
my only problem was with the back-up story, i felt the artwork was lacking...
But story was jokes though.

Anyways, hope to see more issues as good as that. (but with better back-up story arkwork of course :p)
Keep it up!

Both of your ideas kick ass, I like the satsu no hadou in Sakura idea and the Guile fighting Vega one, that'd make a great scene in an anime

Return of the point meter:

+1 Vegas! Nice touch using real places like the Venice walkway instead of generic made-up ones.
+2 Ryu's joke. I think I've said it before, but nice timing! In fact the timing in general was great; the overall pace was very good.
+1 Julia looks more mature this time. Thank you.
-1 Guile's kid acts like a spoiled diva. Just look how she controls her parents. LOL. It was cute for one issue but if she keeps doing that it could get annoying.
+1 Finally, Cammy takes a break from showing up too much. A change of pace after a long arc is always a plus
+2 Balrog punching stuff randomly... whatever that thing was... and even his own posse! The guy's nutty, I like it.
+1 Vega gets a measure of revenge
+1 Cliffhanger! Haven't seen one of those in a while.
+2 Pro-wrestling! Pro-wrestling terminology! And the one female wrestler from the SFZ3 art collections (though she looks more like Orchid from Killer Instinct at that angle).
-2 Not only does Z lose to Mika, but Mika takes a Rolling German and doesn't even fall down? And on top of that, Z didn't know the match was fake but loses to "fake" moves? I'm confused.

Overall: 8, very good score

no i'm not joking i think it looks pretty raggdy. how dare she go to a wedding with her hair looking like she washed it with lawn mower.

co-sign on this one, not to totally remove the blurring but at least tone it down. More than half of the issue was blur-crazy

The best part of the comic is probably the scene with Guile and his wife, for me at least, that's the best scene in the series yet.

The back-story was ridiculous i thought. As somebody already pointed out, if Zangief was being serious and FAB'ed Mika without Mika even fazing, does that mean that she owns Zangief hands down?

Cheapshots was also sorta rushed and filler :/ But then Dan is in the next issue so I guess something is finally going to happen in Cheapshots

Alot of people seem annoyed by the fact that Ryu can dodge bullets. People need to get over it. If you are a fan of Street Fighter then you need to understand that these characters can do some outlandish things. 7 out of 10 of them are hurling balls of fire at one another. Ryu ripped open Sagat's chest at about the age of 16 and Gouki can destroy submarines and split the biggest geographical landmark in Australia. Is it such a stretch to believe that they can dodge bullets? If I have to hear TAS or anyone else say one more time that "If Ryu can do it in the Alpha flick then it's cannon" I am going to let my little brother Burn Knuckle me in the crotch.

Therefor...

1) Ryu can dodge bullets.
2) Ryu (and possibly Ken) are able to throw fireballs in the air.
3) Ryu can hop around like a freakin monkey in a fight if he has to. If he wasn't showing Spider-Man level agility against that android freak then Dan owns Gill and Gouki at the same time.
4) Ryu can throw massive VS style beams of ki at people when he's in the mood, capable of disintigrating his opponents Vageta style.(Not that I ever want to begin comparing SF to Dragon Ball.)

In SF we have Chun Li throwing "A Thousand Rending Kicks" showing elements of super speed. Bison defies gravity on a daily basis. Zangief's skin is like steel. (unless you read the backups where he is portrayed as a complete tool) Gouki can shatter mountains showing he has rediculous super strength. Dahlsim can stretch like Mr. Fantastic. Several characters have the ability to teleport. Nearly every character can project energy, sound waves, ki, or flame in some way. The fighting aspect will always come first, but we have to remember that these characters are doing stuff on a comic book superhero kind of level. If you guys want your fighting characters doing more realistic stuff then go play Tekken or Virtua Fighter or something were people don't throw huge balls of fire at one another.

As for what's going to happen next issue I'll put forth my 2 cents.

Sakura saving Ryu's ass is quite possibly the most lame thing that could happen. She started learning the Hadou Ken (and martial arts in general) like 2 issues ago. I know Sakura supposedly has a high ki level, but that would be kind of rediculous. Why the hell would Bison want Ryu if the guy is in mortal danger because of a freaking gun?

Ryu could dodge the bullets. If this storyline takes place during the Alpha years then Ryu's ability should be somewhat close to what it is in the Alpha Anime, in which Ryu can dodge bullets.(CANNON) After reading about Cammy for the past six issues I want to be reminded why Ryu is a force to be reckoned with.

What I would like to see happen is simple and would explain why Sakura and Ryu are apparently seperating.

Ryu goes Satsui no Hadou. We really haven't seen that much of Evil Ryu and considering it's one of the most interesting things about the character it needs to be expanded on.

Evil Ryu Demon Warps through the bullets and proceeds to beat the snot and crap out of Balrog and his goons. Somewhere along the line Sakura is going to get in his way and he will nearly attack her. After he has snapped out of it he will tell Sakura he cannot continue her training at this time as he is still struggling with the Killing Intent. Ryu will then go looking for Dahlsim, hoping that the witch doctor can help him learn how to control the Satsui no Hadou.

The last thing that could happen is that Vega or Balrog stops the gunman. Vega at least knows damn well what will happen to him if Bison finds out he got Ryu shot. Bison will Psycho Crusher his homicidal ass back to the Stone Age. Vega attempts to stop the gunman, leaving himself open for Guile (who I really don't think could take the Spanish Ninja in a fair fight) who Flash Kicks his ass, leading to a hasty retreat. Ryu sends Sakura packin' because he finally comes to the realization that a criminal organization is hunting him and goes off solo to prepare for his battle with Gouki. Guile looks like a hero in front of his family and Ken is left chomping at the bit for a rematch with Vega at SF2.

After my rant I would like to say that I enjoyed this issue very much. We got to deal with Guile's family situation, Ryu has shown some aspect of an actual personality, Vega sort of redeemed himself, Sakura showed she's not a total clutz, and the art was good too.

I do agree that the blur effect is a liitle out of control. I like it when it is used, but I also like to see what is going on. Balrog could have been punching a car, a dumster, or godzilla for all I know.

Sagatryu
02-22-2005, 01:27 AM
Well he can't to the massive Ki beam thing but Ryu could still Kill somebody with his Shinku Hadouken if he want to.

Evil Ryu is 25 times stronger than ryu during the alpha series.

Guile and Charlie actually use their ki to move thier limbs at super sonic speeds

also to be able to see something going at super sonic speeds you would need to have super perspective speed.

Ever hear the phrase "Even monkeys fall out of trees"? It means even someone who's a consumate master at something can screw up every now and again. Such as how Ken in one fight was distracted by Eliza and beat Vega, but was distracted by her and got owned the second time. Or in this case, be caught badly off-guard. Technically, if Ryu is such a bad-ass, that thug should never have landed that sucker punch. As for the Sakura hadoken save, what better time than that moment? Ryu got the move right the first time HE did it, and if Sakura has an abnormally high ki development for her age...why the hell not? Adrenaline is a helluva drug.

DoTheMove
02-22-2005, 07:19 AM
SagatRyu - I already acknowledged the fact that they can do amazing things. And yes they can do these things because they have been trained to use their inner ki in a combative way. I'm not quite sure what your point is there. And why couldn't Ryu throw a huge ki blast like he does at the end of Alpha? If the situation called for it and considering it's CANNON that he can do anything that's done in the anime then I'm not sure why you say he couldn't do it.

Rhio2k - according to different sources Ryu wasn't able to do the Hadou Ken the first time he did it. We don't even know if Ryu did in the comic, although it seemed like it was. Ryu had been training with Gouken long before the old man taught him the fireball. Sakura just started her training like 2 deays ago. She would be lucky to get a spark at this point. Not because of ki levels, but because she simply can't channel it properly after only a few lessons. And I'm not sure what you're talking about the distraction thing for. Ken got slashed because Eliza was there and Ryu got sucker punched because he saw his only friend in the world get what looked like a mortal wound. You could sucker punch Dan, Jet Li, or God if he just saw their brother get a hunk a meat sliced off of them.

Apathy-Inc
02-22-2005, 12:23 PM
Sakura has this thing where she can perform any move after she sees it. She's an insanely fast learner and it's been well documented. There's also nothing to say that Ryu doesn't see the gun and start to react. Just that Sakura is 2 steps ahead of him. I mean, hell, Ryu could be charging up a hadoken when another one comes out of leftfield and takes the guy out.

I still think it will happen, then Sakura will get laid out by Balrog, which causes Ryu to "evil up" and take down Balrog.
Which could also open the door for Ryu leaving Sakura behind and heading to India to see Dhalsim. etc etc etc. (kinda getting off point here.)

That IS his point. Shit's hit the fan and everyone is off their game but the bad guys. So why is it to far fetched to think that with all that going on, someone could sucker punch Ryu, but never pull a gun?

It's really driving the point about personal attachments and fighting that Akuma made home too.

It sounds like Sakura throwing a Hadoken is the most likely outcome, but I bet that's not how everything will play out in the next issue.

I'm gonna be different and say that Balrog will use Gigaton Blow on the thug. I don't know about Vega intervening, because he only wanted Ken, and now he's gotta face Guile...there's no way Vega would divert his attention away from him. I'm aware of Vega's mission, but I think he was too obsessed with Ken to care about Ryu at the moment.

Someone mentioned the guy in the boat as being C. Jack. I think that would've been true if he had the sideburns.

For the final battle..........

Akuma & M. Bison VS Ryu and Ken

After a while Akuma could kill Bison with his "Raging Demon" and comments Bison being "pathetic" and fight Ryu one on one! And Ryu should win this fateful battle!

Alex

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Alex enters the Street Fighter 3 tournament to get revenge on Gill, whom injured his good friend, Tom. Tom told him that it was a fair match that Gill had beaten him in, and thus, Alex did not need to avenge him, but Alex would have none of it. Tom decides to let Alex leave, telling Alex that it is Alex's decision, and that Alex should see the world, for himself. In the SF3 tournament, Alex progresses up to become the champion. Alex defeats Gill to win the championship, though he didn't get the chance to kill Gill. However, when he arrives back home, he is surprised when he sees that Tom has fully recovered as Tom's daughter, Patricia, welcomes him back. Alex is glad to see everything is all right, and is now over his thoughts of revenge. Tom notes that Alex now has matured, and has the face of a true man. Alex declares his new journey. To face the greatest fighters in the world! [Official]

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: After battling opponents from all over the world, Alex is in the process of learning/has learned the depth and fearfulness of the fight. His fighting spirit burns strong and he cannot suppress it. He wants to fight and get stronger, so he leaves Tom in search of a formidable/powerful opponent [Official]. Alex meets Ryu, and they have a match. Ryu wins this and encourages Alex to keep on fighting. With the weight of vengeance off of Alex’s back, he is now excited about fighting and searches the world for Ryu and other challengers. He writes to Tom and Patricia, telling them that he is determined to have a rematch and that he can't come home, because he must find Ryu, again [Alex's SF3TS ending]

Tom is a good friend of Alex's late father, and like a father to Alex. Tom is the one that trained Alex, and Alex attends his gym. Patricia is Tom's daughter and Alex cares deeply for both as family to him.

Alex's father was in the military, which is why Alex himself is quite militaristic. Tom is a war veteran, too.

There seems to be something special about Alex that Gill can sense in him. See Gill's bio for more info. I heard also that this is because Alex was also one of the candidates for rising up to become the next Messiah, but I'd be really surprised now, since there's no evidence and I imagine Alex would have remembered something as big as that. In the American version of SF3, Urien indicated that he knew Tom but that was a mistranslation by Capcom USA. In the Japanese version, he actually says "I have no memory of what you speak of!" when asked about it.

CHUN-LI

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Chun-Li's kung-fu student has gone missing. She goes out to investigate, and finds out that Gill's organization has kidnapped her. She finally confronts Urien, and fights for her freedom. Urien promises to release the girl if Chun-Li entertains him for a while with her fighting ability, for he has heard of her legendary status. Impressing Urien in battle, Chun-Li manages to convince Urien to release the girl. Rescuing her, Chun-Li discovers her new purpose in life (since her old one is finished now that Shadaloo is gone), and she takes the girl in. Six months later, Chun-Li thinks back about what she learned, that day. Now, for her father and her country, as well as all the warm-hearted people she met throughout the world, she shall train the next generation and teach them the true meaning of strength and beauty [Official].

Dudley

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Dudley enters the SF3 tournament to win his father's car back that Gill acquired. ...what a strange strange plot. Even though he didn't win the tournament, he impressed Gill enough to get his car back. Well, not sure completely if that was the case (It's his SF3 Double Impact ending), but his Third Strike intro shows that he did get it back, though [Conjecture based off in-game storyline].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: After winning the championship title, Dudley was given the title of "Sir"(I guess that means he was knighted). Shortly afterwards, the Royal Family announced that they will holding an upcoming fighting tournament and invited Dudley to participate. Dudley has to fight flawlessy and give a perfect performance. He has only 1 day to train. That's enough time for him to improve his abilities and test his skills against fighters from all over the world [Official]. Although... his in-game storyline and ending don't seem to have anything to do with this prologue. His ending just shows how Dudley still has scheduled fights, and he still thinks about his father. And he's still rich [Dudley's SF3TS ending].

Dudley's family used to be rich, but his father screwed up all his business decisions and lost everything he owned, including the car (Gill didn't steal it. Gill acquired it). Dudley became rich again by boxing and trying to buy back everything that was once his dad's.

Elena

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Elena participates in the SF3 tournament to meet new friends. The publicity apparently got her quite a lot, and she introduces them along with her animal friends to her good and best friend, Narumi, and writes to her parents about it [Conjecture based off in-game storyline].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Almost one year has passed since Elena parted with Narumi. She's plans on studying abroad in France for the New Year. I couldn't make sense outta the next line. Every day is pleasant and she enjoys fighting, but she is restless, so she decides to go find/make some new friends [Official]. In her ending, Elena writes to Narumi about how she misses being in Japan, and she invites Narumi to come over to her country to visit. She then gets back to her studying for class [Her Third Strike ending].

Elena is the princess of her tribe. Her father is her tribe's witch doctor, but he also has a PhD in medicine from a French University. The former and maybe some of the latter is the reason why Elena has healing ability. Elena would like to get a formal education, herself, despite how her tribe really doesn't care for it. Her Third Strike ending shows that she finally got it, though.

Gill

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Gill held the SF3 tournament to find the chosen ones that he would use to create the new paradise when the rapture comes. The winner of the tournament was Alex. Gill was very impressed

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: There is something special about Alex. Gill is very very interested in him. It appears that someday in the future, Alex will be one of the key people once the day of reckoning comes

Gill, from the legend of the organization that he comes from, is destined to be the savior of the world. Doomsday shall come very soon, and when it does, Gill shall lead the chosen ones to their salvation (according to his organization's legend). You can see the what-if aspect of this happening in Gill's Third Strike ending as he leads many people, including many Street Fighters, to a promised land. Here's a transcript of the legend from his Double Impact ending:

Gill describes Doomsday to Yun as the two opposite forces (Holy and Dark, probably, since that was what Gill was supposed to represent) colliding, then the balance between them shattering.

The year when Gill's organization shall bring about utopia and the creation of Eden, according to them, is 2200.

Apparently, the Organization of Mystery has controlled/managed the world from the 'other side' since the times of B.C.

Gill doesn't wanna wait 'til 2200, so he's trying complete his dream of a utopia now.

There are 66 secret techniques of the Mysterious Organization, including Resurrection. It's impossible to master all the fighting techniques of the Mysterious Organization

Gill is VERY powerful, storylinewise. He can also create fire and ice out of nowhere, and he can UN-create fire and ice, too (creation and uncreation is also supposed to represent how he is supposed to be like a god). Fire and ice are his two elements. Originally, his two elements were meant to be light and darkness, but Capcom changed that because they figured that red and blue (fire and ice) would be better for showing off the Street Fighter 3 graphics engine. And because they were having too much trouble with making light and darkness graphics. Hrm...

He can also ressurect himself, even from death (if something ever somehow manages to kill him in the first place). And even then, his organization, like Shadaloo, also makes back-up bodies for him (you can see one in Urien's Third Strike ending, too). Though his organization makes much better back-up bodies than Shadaloo did, so no "Gill being in a new weaker body" for Gill. And his soul is immortal, like M. Bison's. ...yea, he's really powerful.

Gill is also shown to be powerful enough to withstand the Shungokusatsu in Second Impact. Although the event may or may not have happened in the official canon storyline, it's demonstrated in the SF3 Second Impact Shin Akuma ending that he can live through it. After Shin Akuma hits Gill with the Shungokusatsu then leaves, Gill simply ressurects himself back up.

Gill... is really not exactly a very bad guy at all, if you haven't noticed, yet. Well, has that whole religious zealot thing going on, but according to his beliefs, he's actually saving the world. Okay, so he did backstab Necro, but he was a man of his word for Dudley. The disposal of Necro was because he felt that Necro was a failed experiment, but just because he's Necro's villain doesn't make him very antagonistic to the plot of SF3 as a whole from what I can see. Did Capcom even mean for the player to see Gill as a villain other than how Gill is insanely cheap to fight against? Even his beating up of Tom was done in a fair fight. Strange...

Hugo

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Hugo, along with his manager, Poison, has decided to enter the SF3 tournament in order to find a good tag team partner for his wrestling career. He was a surprise entry, but stated to have put on an 'amazing performance' [Official]. I doubt he found one, though. His ending seems to be a just-for-fun ending. Most likely, Ryu beat Hugo, since Capcom has stated that they fought. And Hugo obviously didn't beat Ryu, since Oro was the one to beat Ryu. Ryu is one of four possible tag team partners for Hugo in Hugo's ending (the other three being Elena, Gill, and Necro), so if Hugo's ending did happen (even though it probably didn't), Ryu would be the most likely candidate for the partner Hugo picked up (and of course, it'd have to be only temporary).

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: I... don't know Oo Hugo's ending here is once again a ridiculous insane ending... I guess with Poison, they formed the wrestling group, HWA (Hyu Wrestling Army), and are forcing people to join and trying to take over pro-wrestling [Hugo's SF3TS ending].

Poison and Hugo fight and bicker a lot, but they still get along really well. I don't know if Hugo realizes that Poison is a guy, but I don't think he'd really care either way since they're just good friends and Hugo doesn't seem like the type that would look for a love interest.

Hugo was stated to have made an amazing performance in the SF3 tournament. He also apparently fought Ryu there, since he got hit by a clean shot of Ryu's shin shoryuken and wasn't knocked out. Storyline-wise, Ryu's shin-shoryuken is supposed to be one of the most powerful moves in the game. Hugo... has a lot of endurance Oo At any rate, though, contrary to popular belief, the fact that he 'put on an amazing performance' shows that he at least put up some of a fight vs Ryu.

Hugo IS Andore, not Andore Jr. He grew up on a farm in Germany, which consisted of him, his mother, father, younger brother (Andore Jr.), and his 2 sisters. He left home to vist America at 20 years old and eventually wound up in Metro City where he joined the Mad Gear Gang. He hasn't returned home once since he left. He's the Andore in the pink outfit in FF1.

Hugo lost his tag partner because of some false rumors spread by a rival wrestler. The tag-team tournament is in 3 months, so he enters the SF3 tournament in search of a new partner.

IBUKI

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Sent by her clan, Ibuki entered the SF3 tournament to get the documents on one of Gill's projects, the G-File [Official]. She impressed Gill enough for him to give it to her, but it was too late, because the project already started. Not that Ibuki seems to care very much, though, since she did her job. She's more worried about her normal school life, it seems. [Conjecture based off in-game storyline]. On a side note, Capcom USA mistranslated her boss dialogue with Gill. In the American version, Ibuki says to Gill, "You have something which doesn't belong to you!", indicating that Gill stole the G-Project file from someone, but the Japanese version has no such thing. Which makes sense, considering that Gill's organization are the ones that engineered the whole project, so why wouldn't it not belong to them?

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Ibuki wants to avoid her fast-approaching highschool graduation. She doesn't want a job at her school. What she really wants is to get into a college. In order to do that, she must pass a brutal graduation exam. New encounters and sweet love await her. She hopes to enjoy campus life with a cute guy [Official]. For her ninja graduation exam, Ibuki tracks down Oro and challenges him to a fight. Oro is so dissappointed! He thought Ibuki was there to ask him out for a date, instead! [Official] Well, anyways, she must have fought well enough, since Ibuki finally gets into a university! She can now finally live like an ordinary girl! Eventually, another student invites her into his club! There, she has tons of fun where she engages in all sorts of physical activities and training! ...then Ibuki realized that that's not very much different from her life as a ninja. Doh! [Ibuki's SF3 Third Strike ending]

Ibuki's father is NOT officially confirmed to be Geki. Geki does not appear in the background of her stage, either. All of the ninjas in her background have names, and Geki is not one of them. The names of those ninjas are:

Enjou - the one that actually looks like ninja Genda - the small dinky guy thats bald Sanjou - the one with the weird cap Raion - The big guy with beads Homura Yuuta - the guy (who some mistake for a girl) that Ibuki spars with in one of her intros Don - The racoon

That guy that shows up in Ibuki's SFIII 3rd Strike ending isn't her boyfriend. For now, he doesn't have a name given to him. He's just referred to as Ibuki's "senpai". And he's a different guy from the one that shows up in Ibuki's win pose.

The blue-haired girl is Sarai Kurosawa. She's Ibuki's best friend and sparring partner.

Half - Canada born tanuki Kage - a black tanuki Majiri - A fox who thinks that he's a tanuki Buchi - the hot tempered one Blue - is very shy Cool - is always calm Nald - is never calm Gyu - is always looking to the sky Donchan - the leader Ran Ran - looks like a panda Sense - the genius tanuki Gusu - always sleeping Kuma - the giant tanuki Kaku and Maru - the brothers who dont look alike Ska - looks scary but is kind

only Donchan can use ninjutsu there are 256 ninja tanuki's all together

Her ninja village has existed since the Sengoku period.

She's been practicing Ninjitsu since preschool.

All the residents of the ninja village practice ninjitsu. Ninja lessons are given in school as well.

Ibuki DOES know who Necro is, because she knows about the G-Project. This is why she recognizes him as "that cyborg stretchy thing" or something like that.

Ibuki kinda leads a duel life-style. She's a school girl, but she's also a ninja at the same time. She secretly wishes to live just a normal life, though. And, of course, she gets it in her Third Strike ending. ...well, sorta ^_~

Ken Masters

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Ken participated in the tournament and beat his own student, Sean, though he didn't win the championship. And he's training his young son, Mel, to be a fighter (though at this point in Mel's age, it's more like playing than training, though the former can be considered to be the same as the latter, I suppose...) [Official].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: While Sean is enthusiastic about participating in an upcoming martial arts tournament, Ken is bored. He hasn't fought a strong/formidable opponent in a long time. Because of this, Ken has lost his fighting spirit. Around this time, Ken hears rumors about some "Organization of Mystery". The sense of the danger left a burning desire in his body, and his fighting spirit has been rekindled [Official... though that last sentence I'm unsure of the translation]. Er... well, in the game, apparently while investigating the organization, he runs into Urien, and says to Urien, "You're not what I expected." But his ending has absolutely nothing to do with Urien or the organization so dunno what's up with that. Anyways, in the actual ending and what official statements said, Ken wins the US Martial Arts tournament for the third time in a row [Official]. He offers the trophy to Sean, but Sean declines it, saying he wants to win for himself [Ken's SF3TS ending].

MAKOTO

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Makoto fights to bring back prestige, pride, and honor to her father's dojo. She tracks down the famous Ryu and challenges him. Ryu requests that she show him her best [Official]. Succeeding in proving her fighting ability, people come from far and wide to attend her dojo. She continues to accept and defeat many challengers [Makoto's SF3TS ending].

Makoto's late dad's name is Masaru.

The gi that she wears was passed on to her by her father before he died.

Her last name is not Rindou. Her dojo is the Rindoukan Dojo, though. The translated name of her father's Karate School translates to something like "Autumn Bellflower Mansion".

She was apparently born in Tosa. Tosa is a district located in Kochi, Japan.

And of course, her father's dojo used to have a lot of pride and prestige. The reason her dojo is going down the drain is because her father died and her brother (no known official name yet) had no potential to be a martial artist so he became a salary man, instead, leaving Makoto to uphold the dojo's name all by herself.

NECRO

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Necro, part of Gill's G project, enters the SF3 tournament to get revenge on Gill and to finally win his freedom. However, he is tricked and trapped by Gill, who decides it's time to end the experiment and blow Necro up. Necro is tied up, but his girlfriend and fellow mutant, Eiffie, comes in and rescues him. They are now free, but they don't know what will happen to them [Necro's SF3DI ending].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: The ‘mysterious organization’ continues chasing Necro and Effie, not giving them a moment of peace. Whenever they think they’ve finally lost their pursuers for good, a black shadow appears before them and plucks away their last bit of hope. Still, Necro believes that he will attain true freedom some day. [Necro's official TS bio] Despite him being free, Gill's organization still seeks to terminate Eiffie and him because they feel they can't let Necro live. [Necro's SF3TS ending

Necro's real name is Illia. He was kidnapped while a boy and brought into the G-Project, then enhanced into a mutant freak. ...oi, kidnappings. Shadaloo already did that with the Doll project. I guess it's every 'evil' organization's obligation to kidnap people then use genetic experiments on them.

He's the 3rd son of four siblings. He has 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister.

ORO

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Oro enterred the tournament to find worthy opponents. He fought Ryu and defeated Ryu, but was very impressed by Ryu's fighting ability and very intrigued, too. He didn't show up for his battle with Alex. He is now pondering about how much potential Ryu has, and he wants Ryu to meet that potential so he can have a worthy opponent [Official].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: For her ninja graduation exam, Ibuki tracks down Oro and challenges him to a fight. Oro is so dissappointed! He thought Ibuki was there to ask him out for a date, instead! [Official]

Oro's boredom has reached the limit. Oro has accepted many students, but most of them are unworthy and can't endure the practice sessions. Then one day, a rumor from the outside world reached his ears. He hears about the mysterious organization and Akuma. He decides to leave his cave for the outside world and uncover the rumors himself [Official]. Oro has been sensing some powerful ki for some time. He finally tracks it down and finds Akuma! Out of curiousity to see how powerful each other is, they fight [Official]. Third Strike dialogue indicates that the fight was more just to see each others' strength than anything serious, so there probably was no death matching.

Oro is pondering how the only one who seems to have the potential and is worthy enough is Ryu. His Third Strike ending seems to depict him training Ryu a la Yoda training Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, which I imagine is what he's doing, now [Oro's SF3TS ending].

Oro is VERY VERY powerful, storyline-wise. He has voluntarily magically bound and sealed his arm in order to give his foes a fighting chance, and he himself hasn't even bothered training actively for the past fifty years, yet he is still a strong contender who was able to defeat Ryu.

You can see him unbind his arm in his three hidden EX super arts. Oro breaks the seal on his arm for all three of his EX'ed Super Arts. When you EX the Tengu Stone super, he stretches both of his arms out to the side to summon larger objects. When you perform the Kishen Tsugi (EX Kishen Riki) Oro grabs the opponent with both arms. Lastly, when you perform the Yagyou Daikon (lvl 3 Yagyou Dama) Oro uses both arms to unleash his gigantic ki blast. Also, if you defeat your opponent with the Yagyou Daikon, Oro performs a special victory pose in which he uses both of his arms to draw and encircle himself in sphere of ki (Clay's description).

Like Akuma, Oro has achieved his great abilities (such as living to such an old age) through sheer training and focus, for the most part. It seems, however, that time is finally catching up to him which is why he's seeking out a student to be his successor.

Akuma and Oro have never met each other until Third Strike, though they've been able to sense each others' ki before then (because both are so powerful). This would be why Oro feels like he's met Akuma in his win quote against Akuma in Second Impact, though of course it's not until Third Strike where they have a storyline mid-boss battle against each other and thus meet for the first time. It was mainly just Oro and Akuma recognizing each other's style that they've been sensing for so long, but not being impressed by each other then deciding to rough each other up, a little.

In addition to a worthy opponent, Oro wants one who is worthy of Oro passing down his style to before Oro passes away and that style is lost, forever. As you can see, he chose Ryu to be that one.

Oro is over one hundred and forty years old. Senjin means 'aged person', by the way.

Q

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Q is... basically just wandering around or something. Really not much, here [based off in-game storyline. Or... more accurately, the lack, thereof].

His Third Strike prologue bio is a statement from CIA public-relations offcier, Richard Bergman. He basically says that the CIA's having difficulty proving if Q even exists.

What is Q? He makes clanking noises when you hit him and he doesn't have a skeleton when he's electrified. Hmm... it's stated that he is in fact a certified living person and thus not a robot, though. His gender is unknown, even (so I'm just referring to him as 'he' for convenience sake). A cyborg, maybe?

He is known in the C.I.A. as 'the man with the trenchcoat.'

The bald CIA investigator who appears in Q’s ending is named David. Julian is the female CIA personnel/officer who carries out an investigation report in Q’s ending.

Q 'witnessed the downfall of Shadaloo'. Exactly what this means, no one knows. After that, he's been spotted in a lot of different parts of the world, mostly in Street Fighter tournament arenas...

REMY

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Remy has been abandoned by his father, and his sister encased in ice to preserve her. Remy has wandered the world, fighting and defeating warriors in an attempt to get revenge on his father, who abandoned him and his sister for his life as a warrior, himself. However, eventually, Remy finally comes to terms that he must move on, so he finally lets his iced-sister sink into the sea and forgets about the past, preparing to move on to a new life [Remy's SF3TS ending]

Remy's father abandoned his family to go out and seek his calling as a true warrior (sorta like how all these other 'true warriors' seem to be doing so, with the exception of Ken). Due to this, Remy despised all warriors and street fighters and such.

Remy's father was NOT Guile. It's really kinda obvious. Capcom probably would have stated if Guile were his father by now, anyway, considering that his storyline seems to pretty much resolve itself in Third Strike. But even that aside, there are at least three glaring points of evidence on why Remy can't be Guile's son.

1) The girl in Remy's ending is too old to be Guile's daughter Amy. SF2 takes place in 1993 and SFIII 3rd Strike takes place in 1998-1999. Amy was no older than 12 in SFII so she would be 17~18 in SFIII 3rd Strike time period. The girl in Remy's ending looks much older than 17~18.

2) In Remy's ending, it's made clear that the father hasn't come back yet. But Guile has come back to his family. This one is pretty obvious.

3) The fact that he's French. Although some may say that he's a bastard child (since Guile is in the background of the France stage in Final Fight 2 when you fight Freddie). But if that's the case, then he wouldn't know Guile's daughter at all.

Besides, Guile fought for the sake of revenge, not for the sake of being a warrior.

Although they look similar, the method of channeling ki for Remy's specials are completely different from Guile's. For one thing, they don't involve sound, of course. So Remy didn't learn the Sonic Boom or anything from Guile or Charlie or anyone. His moves are, storyline-wise, completely different (otherwise, they'd probably be named "Sonic Boom", etc).

RYU

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Ryu entered the SF3 tournament to once again continue to test and train himself. He got defeated by Oro [Official].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Ryu has been in a countless number of fights. He has fought some 10,000 opponents. "A true Street Fighter". The path Ryu follows is still vague and hasn't taken shape, but he doesn't stray. Nevertheless one thing is clear: As long as he keeps encountering new/strong opponents, Ryu will continue his course [Official]. After Ryu lost to Oro in Double Impact, he travels to America. Of course, being Ryu, he uses his loss to motivate him to become even stronger, after seeing what Oro is capable of, but for the time being, he had more pressing matters. He seeks out Ken so that they have another match. He travels across the country (starting in Oakland) and finally meets Ken in NY. Ken is probably in NY to enter the US Martial Arts Championship, which he wins [Ken's SF3TS ending]. Ryu wins his match with Ken, but also has a fight with Alex while he was in NY. Ryu also wins this and encourages Alex to keep on fighting. With the weight of vengeance off of Alex’s back, he is now excited about fighting and searches the world for Ryu and other challengers [Alex's SF3TS ending].

Makoto fights to bring back prestige, pride, and honor to her father's dojo. She tracks down the famous Ryu and challenges him. Ryu requests that she show him her best [Official].

Where Is He Now: Still always looking for new challenges. Ryu is always training and improving himself. Perhaps he's training with Oro, now, as seen in Oro's SF3TS ending.

SEAN MATSUDA

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Ken's student, Sean, hoping to test his skills, entered the Street Fighter 3 tournament. However, he was beaten by none other than his own master, Ken, himself [Official]. Ken tells him to go fight Ryu, and that he must defeat Ryu if he wants to be any good, so Sean does so, but a confused Ryu (confused at his persistence) keeps whupping him. Ken, meanwhile, free from having to train Sean, can spend some time with his wife [Sean's SF3TS ending].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Sean dreams that he won the US Martial Arts tournament, but he realizes that it was just a dream and he actually was knocked out, not even making it past the elimination round. Ken wins the US Martial Arts tournament for a second time. He offers the trophy to Sean, but Sean declines it, saying he wants to win for himself [Ken and Sean's SF3TS endings]

From Golden Dragon: Supposedly, he played basketball in college. This is strange to me, since I always thought Sean was around 16 or 17. Sean's grandfather trained him for a while, before he became Ken's pupil. In case you didn't know already, his grandfather is Japanese.

Sean is 1/2 Brazilian and 1/2 Japanese.

Sean knows Dan and hates to be referred to as him.

Sean goes by the belief/philosophy, "Even if I lose today, I’ll win tomorrow".

TWELVE

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Twelve is one of the mutants of the G project, from Gill's organization. A genetically engineered super mutant who regenerates, does not suffer damage, and has no memory. He's in a capsule and being admired by Dr. Kure (the Chinese looking man) and the project chief. The chief says something like there's less than 0.0001% chance of Twelve not fulfilling a mission, and the doc calls Twelve an undying soldier along with other things. The last shot shows Twelve's vacant eyeholes up close suddenly shining two red irises... The organization begins to manufacture an army of creatures like Twelve [Twelve's SF3TS ending]. ....that's all, really. Third Strike had Twelve going after Necro but both Twelve and Necro's endings don't reference it at all. This is despite how if Twelve WAS sent after Necro, Twelve's ending requires that Twelve had got him (since that convinces the Illuminatti that Twelve is worthy enough to produce more of him) while Necro's requires that Necro had escaped, but both could have happened if Twelve was never sent after Necro. ...strange.

Necro was the prototype for Twelve and the rest of those... playdough things. The head scientist of the project was Dr. Kure, and Urien was the one heading it after Gill was done with the part of the project that produced Necro.

Twelve can reassemble/repair any damage to his body. His creation was based on something called the human body reconstruction theory.

URIEN

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Urien finally advanced to become the president of the organization. He is very proud, and very glad when he thinks that he is now at the top and above his brother, Gill. But then he is told about the Emperor, who is reincarnated throughout the centuries, that only the chairmen and the president got to know about. Even worse, the Emperor is his brother! Doh! [Urien's SF3DI ending]

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Urien has become the new president of the organization, but he remains displeased after hearing that Gill has been stationed at the top of the organization as "Heaven Emperor". He says he will give his foolish older brother the sanction of despair [Official]. Urien continues to plot his brother's overthrow so he can be the boss. He doesn't care for his organization's stupid mission anymore, nor does he care for his brother's legacy, and he now wants to start his own legacy. He hasn't succeeded yet, though [Official]. But during Urien's 3rd Strike ending, he goes to the Illuminati tower (looks like the Tower of Babel) and sees Gill in a labeled capsule next to one labeled for Urien also. He announces to Gill that he detests this destined legacy of preserving these so-called elite beings and just blows up the whole tower, laughing and decreeing that he'll start his own legacy which depends on nothing but himself. Afterwards, Urien decides to name his own era/age, "A. U. (After Urien)". The brain(s) the organization has collected are erased… I don't know if this ending happened. Maybe it's a way to get rid of Gill, or maybe that was just a copy of Gill. Hmm. [Urien's TS ending]

Urien kidnapped a girl. One day, Chun-Li confronted him in order to rescue her. Urien, impressed by Chun-Li's fighting ability, finally agrees to do so. [Conjecture based off in-game storylines]

Urien has an inferiority complex to his brother, Gill, and is very jealous of Gill. Gill seems to be naturally more powerful and Gill was chosen to be the savior and Emperor, leaving Urien in the dust.

His nickname is the "Apostle of Treason," or the "Apostle of Rebellion".

He has been a potential presidential candidate since he was 6 years old.

While his brother Gill's elements are fire and ice, Urien's elements appear to be wind/lightning and earth, judging by how he makes iron clanking sounds when hit and his many special moves.

Urien is the main man behind the G-project that produced Twelve and Necro. Well, Gill was probably the one behind Necro, but Urien is definately the one that used the project to make Twelve and co (The Necros in Urien's Second Impact ending were probably meant to represent Twelve and co, but Capcom didn't make a final design for what Twelve would look like back then. It's similar to how multiple Julis and Junis were used to represent all the Dolls in various SFA3 endings, I imagine.)

Why did Urien kidnap that girl that Chun-Li had to rescue? My best guess is that he wanted more subjects for the G-Project. That's the only reason I can think of.

Urien thinks that the brains the Illuminati has collected over time are ugly, stupid, and useless because they don't do anything. Well, got that from his Third Strike ending.

Urien does NOT know Alex's mentor, Tom, apparently. Lousy Capcom of America mistranslated his dialogue with Alex to hint that he did, but in reality, the Japanese version says that he can not recall such a name, basically.

YUN LEE and YANG LEE

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Yun and Yang enter the SF3 tournament to demonstrate their kung fu skills. They return to their home village, more confident than ever before, having seen the outside world [Conjecture based off in-game storyline].

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: The community in Yun & Yang's town (located in Hong Kong) live happily and comfortably, but Yun has become aware of the existence of the 'Mysterious Organization' which threatens the peace, so Yun decides to infiltrate and/or destroy the organiztion in order to protect his town [Official]. Yang takes pride in keeping their town peaceful and protecting it. Naturally, he won't allow the evildoings of the organization of mystery, so, like his older brother, he plans to thwart their plans. But Yang's tired of the town always depending on Yun, so he says "Leave it to me this time!" [Official]. During their search of the mysterious organization, however, the two run into each other once again. Yun is surprised that Yang still feels jealous of him, and tells Yang that he should get over it. Yang, however, attempts to deny that it's jealousy at all, and gives the excuse that he'd just like to show Yun how far he's progressed so far [conjecture based on in-game storyline]. Eventually, however, the two brothers finally decide to go after the organization, together [...can't think of any other way for Yun's ending to happen in the fullest]. Yun, with Yang, confronts Gill, telling him to stop with that silly plan to conquer the world. The two get into a fight, and Yun's battle ability impresses Gill (the ending and SF Eternal indicates that Yang fought alongside Yun, too). Gill applauds Yun for his wonderful performance, then says he'll leave the care of Yun and Yang's town to the two brothers as a sign of gratitude. Yun continues to argue that Gill's ideal world is stupid, but Gill tells Yun that he just doesn't understand. Someday, the two opposite forces in the world will collide, and the balance between them will collapse. Yang is troubled by Gill's words, but Yun tells him not to worry. They got what they wanted, and now are the leaders of their town, so it's time for them to go home [Official].

After getting home, Yang and Yun continue to bicker with each other. Hoimei, annoyed at Yun and Yang's constant bickering, argues with Yun about how it's more important to take care of the family restaurant than defend the town, but Yun disagrees and snaps that if he does that, he'll have to worry about Hoimei's bad cooking (hehe). Meanwhile, Yang watches and sighs, noticing that Hoimei is in love with his brother, and that he can never win. Hoimei's sister, Shaomei, then comforts Yang, telling him that Hoimei has problems expressing her feelings and couldn't eat while Yang was gone. Yang smiles at that, and as the two leave together, Shaomei thinks to herself about how she needs to be more honest with her feelings, too. [Yun and Yang's SF3TS endings].

Yun and Yang are the guardians of their village, and protect it from having to do stuff like pay protection fees to corrupt organizations (mafias and all) and such. I think that they themselves have ties to the underworld, too (possibly thanks to their close relation with Gen), which makes them more the leaders of their village then guardians (though they still keep their village from having to pay protection fees), but I'm not completely sure about that. At any rate, Gill hands over leadership of the village to them in Yun's Third Strike ending

Yun and Yang almost positively know Chun-Li. Yun is surprised at what she looked like when she was younger in SFA3 in his character-specific win quote against her. It's logical that they'd know each other since Chun-Li knew Gen, too. Though I highly doubt they trained together since Gen taught Chun-Li those moves while Chun-Li was just a child, apparently, judging by that official art work, and that probably would be before Yun and Yang were born, of course.

Yun and Yang's girlfriends are Hoimei and Shaomei. Neither of the two girls enjoy Yun and Yang fighting each other. Yang likes Hoimei, Hoimei likes Yun, and Yun seems to just want to get away from it all. And Shaomei likes Yang.

Yun and Yang were trained by both Lee (their fighting style is generally considered to be Chinese Kempo, not Ansatsukan) and by Gen at various intervals in their early childhood. Gen (assuming he died) probably died early on in Yun and Yang's childhood, though.

Lee is stated to be a relative of Yun and Yang, not their father. I THINK I heard that he raised the two, but I don't remember and don't think the source was too credible. There, I believe he was referred to as their uncle, which is probably what he is, since 'relative' isn't typically what you use to describe someone's father. Well, at any rate, whatever happened to Lee, he was still around when Yun and Yang were alive, since Yun and Yang at least sixteen years old in SF3 and SF1, where Lee was, took place only 11 years ago. Not exactly sure where Lee went, but Yun and Yang seem to have been taking care of themselves for quite a while.

AKUMA

Street Fighter 3 Double Impact: Akuma develops "the ultimate technique", Kongou-kokuretsuzan. It is so powerful that it splits an entire mountain, Ayers Rock, in half! [Akuma's SF3DI ending]. Considering that he's a secret character, I'm pretty sure he didn't register and sign up for the tournament, just like how he didn't sign up for the SF2 tournament.

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike: Oro has been sensing some powerful ki for some time. He finally tracks it down and finds Akuma! Out of curiousity to see how powerful each other is, they fight [Official]. Third Strike dialogue indicates that the fight was more just to see each others' strength than anything serious, so there probably was no death matching.

According to that mook, Gouki killed Goutetsu just as Goutetsu was about to do a Messatsu Go Hadou, because from the text, he had cupped his hands and countless flames were being formed. Goutetsu died with a smile on his face, most likely because it was the greatest battle of his life (or possibly because most teachers love to see their students surpass them). Gouki took the beads off of Goutetsu and wore them for his own. This was all witnessed by Gouken.

Goutetsu was killed by the Shungokusatsu (Saiki confirms this). How Gouken was killed is unknown. Goutetsu was killed 20 years prior to the Alpha series, by the way.

Goutetsu was murdered 20 years before SSF2X, not the Zero/Alpha series. Gouki's mentioned to be around 48 in SSF2X, so he's around 28 when he kills Goutetsu.

What happens during the shungokusatsu is that they go to hell. The demons in hell will attack the person even if they're sin free or not. They're demons, they'll go at anything. But with evil characters, their past sins will also haunt on top of the demons attacking them for that split second. Gen survives this because he empties his spirit, heart and mind. "Onore wo mu ni suru". "Mu" means emptiness, nothingness. One of the reasons why Gouken has the kanji "Mu" on his back. It's really not about how strong the person is but how tuned and focused they are with their mind and soul.

The user is in danger during the Shun Goku Satsu, too, if he isn't prepared. Both the user and the target go to hell. Canonwise, Ryu and Sakura have never done the Shun Goku Satsu.

Akuma doesn't become Shin Akuma. Akuma IS Shin Akuma, except that he holds back punches and uses only a small percent of his power. He does this because he doesn't want to unnecessarily kill anyone who he feels aren't out to kill him in the first place. Note that the Shin Akuma in Capcom VS SNK 2 (besides that game not being canon), where Akuma becomes Shin Akuma because he absorbs Orochi power or so, is a different type of Shin Akuma. The Japanese character for Shin is different for him.

Gouken had the character "Mu" which means "nothing", "naught" on his back. Akuma has the character for "Heaven" on his back, but this can also be interpreted as "Beyond human" which is most likely the correct interpretation. According to some Japanese myths, the bearer of this symbol is said to be immortal. Capcom of America used the literal translation for it, "Ten", for SFA3.

Where Is He Now: As shown by SF3 dialogue, Akuma still waits for Ryu to get better to become a worthy match (even though officially, Ryu has since then given up Satsu no Hadou, he still is improving and still has potential) or to find a worthy match out there. Akuma himself is always training, also [Conjecture based off in-game storyline].

lol for a super secret organization, everyone and their mothers seem to know of Gill's Organization and the G-project. Also, why would they kidnap girls and children with families that would look for them to use for their projects if they wish to keep their project a secret? (Gill handing out the G-project file to Ibuki coz she's a good fighter was a funny one too).

GOOOOO Capcom of Japan story-writers !!!!

Apathy Inc - Where has it been documented that Sakura is an insanely fast learner? As far as I'm aware Sakura's major distinction is that she has the potential to be a powerhouse in the ki department. Sakura created a bastardization of Ansatsuken's ki techniques. That doesn't mean she is a fast learner that means she had no real guidance and made something up on her own. Her versions of the techniques have completely different properties. They may work in their on way, but saying that makes her a quick learner is like calling KOF's Shingo a prodigy. Again I say that Sakura has what it takes to produce an impressive fireball, but It's hard to believe she would be able to channel her ki successfully after 1 lesson in doing the technique. Ryu maybe could have done it the first time bacause Gouken even said (Issue 0) that Ryu was the best student he ever had, but Sakura is still very much a novice at this point. I think it would be better if she mastered and executed the fireball against someone like Karin. A true rival who might look down on Sakura as a low class brawler taught by a vagabound. It would be sweet to see the look on Karin's face when Sakura shows her what real concentration and hard work are all about. Sakura didn't pay for an instructor, she ran away and followed a fighter, getting hands on experience.

And again I never said Ryu was too bad ass to be sucker punched. I never said he was too bad ass to get a gun pulled on him. No one in this fight is doing well. Ken got distracted and stabbed in the back. Ryu got distracted and sucker punched. Vega got blindsided by Guile. Balrog is punching his own people and getting hit by their flying bodies. Vega and Balrog's goons aren't following orders. EVERYONE IS HAVING A BAD DAY. My only point is that if Ryu had anything to fear from a gun then why in the blue hell would Bison be remotely interested in him? Bison has a whole frikkin' army of people with guns. His elite soldiers like Vega, Balrog, and Sagat (who I guess doesn't work for Shadoloo anymore) don't use guns because guns are meaningless to them. Guile and Charlie were soldiers. Do you ever see them use guns? No. Why? Because with a wave of their arm they can produce more destruction then any gun. In the Alpha anime Chun Li's partner uses a gun. Does she? No. Why? Because she's that damn good. Not once in any comic or anime has Ryu shown any fear of Guns. Is the SF2 movie he jump kicked a car that he knew had an automatic weapon inside. In SF2V Ken and Ryu had no fear of guns, except when bystanders could get hurt. In Alpha he straight up dodges bullets. In Chun Li's own words "He's dodging bullets like it was nothing." (At least in English) Meaning it was effortless. In the Japanese Alpha Manga Ryu gets shot in the chest and just ejects the bullets back out. The only thing that should be able to harm these kind of people are fighters with even more power, skill, speed, etc. My point is that I am annoyed by the gun even being in this issue as the shear skill of people like Guile, Vega, Ken, and Ryu makes the gun obsolete. The only people in danger of getting shot at this point are Eliza, Sakura, and other gang members. Sakura has already proven herself in my eyes by standing next to her master and holding her own. Asking her to take out a gunman with a fireball is like asking a white belt to go free style against Tony Jaa. (Sorry, saw Ong-Bak last night and loved it.)

If you'll recall in sfa2 (if you read Sakura's bio), Sakura saw Ryu use his techniques ONE TIME and on her own, created her own versions, then went to seek him out to train her. She's no novice, cuz she was beating up on college students and neighborhood thugs before meeting Ryu. I don't know if that's the same angle Udon went with, but that IS Capcom's official word. I'd say that's some pretty damn fast learning. The girl might have low-level photographic reflexes.

I love the comic, but reading it again last night I noticed that the main story stops like 2 pages after the midway point in the comic. I'm not going to start bitching now, but it would be nice if the main story was longer and the back stories could come out as a completely seperate comic like the summer special or the issue 0. I loved seeing the Ryu vs. Sagat back-up in #1, but a fight of that magnitude, and the entire first tournament in general seemed to deserve it's own comic. You could release them like an annual or something. Annual 1: childhood w/ Gouken, Annual 2: SF1, Annual 3: Gouki's origin, etc. I know even suggesting this is wishful thinking, but reading 11 issues a year of main story and then 1 full issue back-up/side story would be awesome. You could jack the price up to $3.50 or $4.95 like freakin Marvel or DC do for their Specials these days.

Again, not complaining (Love the book-don't ever stop) just some wishful thinking on a poor fanboy's part.

Miscellaneous Facts and Notes

Sakura took up fighting when she saw Ryu (which means she learned to be a decent fighter, how to do hadokens, and how to mimic the shoryuken and hurricane kick within one year of seeing Ryu in the Street Fighter 1 tournament Oo Capcom actually acknowledges that Sakura is quite the fighting school girl prodigy due to this).

There you go.

1) Comic Sakura is not Game Sakura.
2) Sakura has followed Ryu around. I'm sure she has seen him fight more than once.
3) Beating up college student and thugs means nothing in the SF universe. Ryu nearly killed Retsu in a flashback and Mel took out Ken at age 4 or 5 with a single blow.(That was pretty funny)
4) Her photographic reflexes must be pretty crappy considering none of her three main ki techniques look or act anything like Ryu or Ken's. Her fireball goes nowhere most times, (although I like that her's has different properties in different games.) her hurricane kick is more like Ryu's Senpuu Kyaku with an extra spin, and her Dragon Punch isn't even remotely similar.
5) Dan's moves are better copies of Ryu's special techniques, and the rest of her fighting style is a complete 180. (not that I want her to fight like Ryu. I'm glad her style is different.)
6) I am sure she is a fast learner. Ryu wouldn't have given her the time of day if he hadn't sensed potential, but the fact remains that her versions of the moves are far from being similar to or mastered versions of Ryu's moves. She may be quick to improvise, but not to master.

In Closing: I like Sakura and the fact that her fireball and hurricane kick change from alpha 2 to alpha 3 indicate that she is still learning and perfecting her own style. If we ever see Sakura in another game (never or in 10 years) I hope her style continues to evolve into something that will set her apart from the Shoto (Hate that term) characters.

All this we've been through in the last 5 or so posts doesn't say that Sakura isn't able to perform the hadoken in the next issue to save Ryu, or that she didn't perform at least HER version when they were training on the train top. Maybe she didn't do it then, but she at least recieved the training to do so, and the adrenaline boost from seeing Ryu in danger gives her what she needs for her first ki manifestation. Her fireball doesn't go anywhere? This isn't Cvs Sakura. If you recall, if you do the hadoken in the alpha games and hit the button once, she will toss one damn near full screen. That will most likely be the one she does, if she does a hadoken at all. It comes out faster, and has the range she needs in the situation we're speaking of.
