I did NOT get a recording of JMar's half-life Sent comeback against Kuan's full team in Winner's Final, as I was off recording CFJ or something else equally awful at that point, sorry. Row called from Oregon to say you guys got lucky that he wasn't there.

As was probably very appropriate, OAQS was officially DQd out of the tournament for pulling a bullshit move in playing casual on the machines in the middle of the tournament. My apologies to Josh for needing to DQ him as well - we were on a very tight schedule, since the arcade was shutting down at midnight for their Midnight Madness computer game-a-thon.

CFJ is an AWFUL game and so boring to watch.

History, and where we're at: Quarters folded years back and became LanWerx Arcade. LanWerx Arcade folded and became Kicks Arcade (thanks to the generous Siu Wai). Kicks Arcade has now folded and will probably become Woodinville LanWerx Arcade. It is unclear whether or not tournaments will continue and if so where. Thank you to Damien, Brian, Siu Wai, Daryl, Tony and everyone else who's kept the Eastside arcade scene alive for these past seven years. And fuck the American distribution companies that don't release/import new games and thus help arcades die out. And fuck SNK, because seriously, don't release 9000000 versions of the same game that all suck and nobody plays. They get points for trying, but wow do these games simply never ever get played. Puzzle Fighter got more action than any of the SNK games. =\
Anyways: the machines are moving to Woodinville. I've got other stuff I need to focus on at this point so am going to take a further back seat for a bit. So things are in the air once again.

Thanks to Rattana, Khoe, Peachy, Chris, JALbert, RGB, and Rob for helping run the various brackets/tournaments. This was especially a huge help to me this time around since it let me just film everything I could. Thanks to Jetay for helping me run the camera.

To Theo, you can run from Thanos, but you can't hide. I'll hit you up down in Portland at some point and we'll get our rematch on. Archer didn't win 3rd Strike, so I won that bet.

* Jason Conger won the IceMan grudge match against Dr. B 2-0. I'm not sure how you guys play best character grudge matches, though - I usually play it that you have to play the "grudge" character until he dies.
* Dr. B won his match-up against Peachy.

JMar and LTB won the $50 ECCX travel bonus for winning their respective tournaments. So they're very interested in heading out to ECCX, if time/schedules allow. Rattana and I are pretty committed to going to, we just all need to start figuring out cheap air transportation.
King and I are interested in heading down to the Texas Showdown for fun. I don't know if the'll happen, but if anybody wants to suggest good/cheap flights from the area, go on ahead and you should see us.

Videos: I've got six tapes from the tourney to encode. This includes final-level footage of every game (MvC2, CvS2, CFJE, 3S. I didn't get a lot of Third Strike (2-3 matches), but got more of every other game, focusing on Marvel. T5 was recorded extensively, but I believe the whiny bitch haters out there have generally decreased the likeliness that that footage will be seen. Does anybody actually watch CFJ/CFE vids? I got those too, but man I can't see why that would be interesting. I'm midway through recording Friday night footage right now, which means I haven't even started on the Saturday footage yet. I would estimate that I should have the videos *recorded* onto my computer by Tuesday, and then it will take me at least another week to encode them. Bear in mind that it's my brother's wedding next weekend, so requests for me to hurry my ass up will be politely ignored.

Videos are all up at http://zachd.com/mvc2. Footage captured is mostly Marvel, a bunch of CvS2, some CFJ, and some Third Strike footage.

EDIT: Added full results.

id say concentrate on the main games and not worry too much about CFJ until it proves itself and people really want the vids (personally id rather watch CFJ than MVC2 but overall i know MVC2 is more popular).

Anyway nice one on the vids and are you the best man? hell, either way you're gunna be wrecked no doubt ^_^

First off I wanna say thanks to the people that showed up from out of town. As always you guys make things hella interesting.

Dr.B, it was dope watching you play CvS2 it's a shame I didn't get to stay long enough to play our match in Marvel or get to play you in CvS2. This is Mandel btw.

That was a fun last tourney, great seeing a lot of the people that make the Northwest scene what it is. A real shame Row and company couldn't show up. Randomly enough it was kinda fun playing CvS2 again. Never would've imagined myself saying that ever.

I think the last two Marvel matches I played are probably the worst tourney Marvel matches I've ever had. My matches with Theo and Evan are mostly to thank for me becoming a casual only Marvel player. Theo, you are the most annoying person I've ever met in my life I think. I told you the truth about my team selection. But besides that, did you seriously think I was gonna tell you what team I was gonna pick against you? I had an idea that I was gonna pick Santhrax against you but something told me to pick MSP. But I said fuck it, kid's random, pick Santhrax. As you can see it was right choice since I won. I'll take great pleasure in the fact that I probably won't play/see you ever again. You fuckin disgust me. Much like you did for Drew, you gave me a good reason to stop playing seriously. So I guess you got the last laugh yeah?

With the venom aside, I seriously hope something is figured out sometime soon for Seattle's arcade/2D scene. Hopefully another major arcade in which all players both 2D/3D will attend. It's probably wishful thinking at this point. But here's to hoping.

And oh yea THE ST CHALLENGE was absolutely DOPE!

Kuan's the truth.

Doesn't play for 6 months and come back to take 2nd.

Either he's the truth or you guys need to step up and slap him around more.

Jmar's cheap.

Good seeing all the peeps I hadn't seen in way long. I can't imagine the enjoyment was mutual because I was a horrorshow of a human being on Saturday as I seem to be everyday of my life now. That being said, ST Challenge was teh best part of the tournament, followed by T5. Apologies for not entering any game aside from T5 but I can only spend so much time in an arcade under any circumstances before I am simply done being there. My 2 or 3 and outs in T5 tournaments usually allow for just the right amount of time for me to be there and not get incredibly disgusted. GG seein everyone again and T5 matches, as well as any other match vids, would be excellent. BYE BYE

If you want cheap tickets to tx book em asap and try united or southwest airlines, they usually sell cheap to this region, Heck i would know, I fly back to seattle a lot since it is my home town and all, hopefully there will be a new arcade by this summer so I can go check out the northwest play style and see what i learned down here works up there haha.

Bellevue Lanwerx is closing down? I was in Seattle last summer and I'm moving there in a couple months. Was looking forward to playing there, they had some good games.
