In need of a better router...

Hey,

I know the majority of you have your Xboxes connected to a router of sorts. What kind do you have and do you experience any issues while playing SF on Live? Here are my networking specs:

ISP - Optimum Online (Cable at 4+Mb)
Router - Belkin F5D7231-4 (802.11g HSN)
CAT5 Length - 22 feet

I have tried setting the IP of the Xbox to DMZ to see if that would make a difference (none.) I turned off Wifi and removed all wired nodes from my network in case a computer on the network was causing the disconnects. That didn't help matters either. I can play just fine if I plug my Xbox directly into my cable modem.

Any info and advice would be appreciated.

Here's my setup:

Router: Linksys WRG54GS (Wireless G)

Game Adapter: WGA11B (Wireless B Game Adapter)

Larger Antennas for maximum throughput and reception.

This solution, while not cheap, works beautifully with Optimum Online. I can place the Xbox anywhere in my home and get a kickass connection 99% of the time. :tup:

If you don't care for wireless then I would still highly recommend Linksys products. I've been using them for a few years now and they've never let me down.

What I want to know is why our connection wont finalize. I'm on Optimum and either use my SMC router or plug in directly to the Xbox. Hoping one day we can face each other online. :karate:

Word. I have having the same problem with Real Decoy in terms of setting up a match. After the patch update was released for 3S, I began to see him and we were finally able to get our matches in.

I'm going to look into picking something up over the next few days. For now I'll just hook up directly and leave my network offline.
