you cant teach someone how to parry. its a timing issue, that only you can work on. and timing is dufferent on any move, only thing i can say is you tap forward before the moment of impact to parry. theres nothing else anyone can really help you with, its just pressing forward at the right time. thats something only you can do

Oh and you should probably do it later than you would in CVS2 (if you ever parry in CVS2, its way different). Parry system is lenient in 3S.

I never focused on the parry system do the lack of time to counter, but ill be sure to work on it in this game, from what ive heard you actually have time to pull off moves now.

The most important thing to remember about parrying is that your joystick/pad MUST be in the neutral(no directions being pressed) position to attempt a parry. You can't 'cancel' into a parry from a missed move or a block(unless it's SF3s and Red Parries, but first things first)

You can buffer parries into normal and special moves if you times thing right, but it takes practice.
Here's an example, I'll try to be specific.
Say you're using Ryu and Ken attacks you with a jumping Roundhouse. You can try and counter Ken with a standing HP, but that can lead to getting hit if you time it wrong. Instead, tap :r: , and then hit :hp: . The key is making sure that you do both motions quickly, but NOT doing the motions too quickly that it registers as :r: + :hp: (which moves Ryu forward in his special normal). If you time it correctly, you should parry and buffer into the standing HP

Another buffer(in example) would be the Shoryuken Option Parry. Take the same situation, Ryu Vs. Ken, Ken jumping in with Roundhouse, and you want to counter with a Shoryuken :dp: :hp:
You'll be tempted to do the Shoryuken early to knock him out of the air, but time it so Ken's about to hit you, then quickly do a shoryuken motion. :dp: + :hp:

Since :r: is the first motion of the Shoryuken, if you start the Shoryuken from the neutral stick position, the initial :r:
motion of the :dp: motion will execute as a parry, and the shoryuken will follow when you finish the move command.

I hope that makes sense somewhat, but these guys are right in saying it takes practice. At best, parrying has 50/50 chance of working, it's a total guessing game. Start by learning to parry projectiles, it's decent practice and more difficult to be punished if you mess up. Anticipation is key, and parrying works best against moves you can recognize. Avoid trying to parry in-close mix-up games until you feel confident enough, and go for parries on moves that are really obvious(like Ken and Ryu's crouching HK's). Practice practice practice and you should start getting the hang of it
