I notice that lots of players online pick a random character for the first match. Once they lose the first match they go straight to Ken and dont pick no one else even if they win or lose. Just cause Ken is high tier it doesnt guarentee any wins.

Dude they probably start by assuming you won't be much competition and
expect to be able to fool around.

If they then realise that you're really good competition for them
they pick their main character cuz they wanna have some
great and a bit more serious matches with you.

If someone start's sticking to only one character against me
and they beat the crap out of me or if it's just close then
you can expect the same behaviour from me as well. Except you
would have to replace the ken part with makoto.

Nothing strange about it IMO :karate:

They shouldnt assume that Im not going to give them good comp, I do have good stats. I guess everyones main character is Ken, hell Ken isnt my main character but I can pick him and win matches. I normally pick Q as my first character, catches lots of people off gaurd. :encore:

I dont think its strange but Its a little funny to me though.

You see the same thing with the major players, most top 20 stick to urien like every other characters broken on their disc.
If they take a break from unblockable aegis and pick another character and lose, it's right back to old naked and ugly.

Not complaining cause I pick SA3 Ken exclusively against the elite uriens so I'm just as bad :xeye:

I actually do that myself, but I don't use 1 character off exclusively. I will start off with my weakest character, dudley, then if they manage 2 beat him I move on 2 my next best character.

I start out with Twelve sometimes just to mess around. My "real" character's Makoto.

I usually start off with Ibuki, then jump around.

I very rarely play the same character twice in a row. I'm just having fun, don't really care about my ranking.

I start with Q... Then move to Remy.. Then move to Makoto..
Then if I am really still losing, Ill move to Chun Li, but usually I just start over with Q again.

If im in a good mood i start with Hugo... then move to Hugo... sometimes i pick Hugo, that really throws people.

Nah, i use Makoto, Remi, 12, Ibuki, Q, Alex, but i only use ken if my opponent wont chose any other characters apart from the Shoto family.

I usually go for either Remy, Chun-Li or Yun as my first pick, and switch between them...I never pick Ken actually.....

One other thing I've noticed with a lot of people who just pick Shotos is that they'll scroll randomly over every character making you think they're going to pick someone fresh then after about 10 seconds they'll go back to Ken. Just drop the charade buddy we both know who you're going to pick.

Nothing more satisfying than beating a Ken with Twelve

Although, I'll never be able to beat those Uriens online with my Twelve. Urien's too vicious online. Can't parry people spamming Chariot Rushes ALL DAY.

edit: not to say the Uriens online aren't good, because all the Uriens I've faced online thus far have crazy skill.

A lot of people do what you describe as a means of testing the connection. I pick Q/Sean/Hugo often for the first match just to see how much I'll be able to pull off in the connection quality, not really to size my opponent up and then run to my good character. I'll cycle through just about the whole cast in a long set if the other guy's willing to switch it up as well.

hah, I've kinda noticed that too...I call him the "ok, now I'm mad" character.

Unfortunately, I'm guilty of this sometimes too. (I mostly use Elena though)
