I've only played Tekken 5 for a little while at my friend's house, but I like using a stick much more than the controller. I was used to using the controller from playing Tekken 4 awhile back, and I tried to use the controller when I first played Tekken 5. I was having trouble doing moves consistantly, though, so I figured I would mess around using my friend's Hori Fighting Stick 2 while he used his Tekken 5 Hori stick, and I found out that it was much easier to execute with.

I used to use controller on Tekken 2, 3, Tag, 4. Started using stick on Tag and 4 and havn't looked back.

I've always been able to use both but I'm trying to gear hard towards stick only from now on.

stick is easier for me to use most of the time.

I hooked up a small TV and a PS2 on my computer desk right next to my monitor so I can play T5. Although, I have no room on my desk to use the T5 stick. So I play with a controller. Although whenever I do bring my PS2 back over to my big-screen, then I'll go back to the stick.

Whichever one is available. Although I might start playing with pad due to the fact that my moves are flowing easily on the PS2 pad.

i use to use a stick but yesterday after playing with a pad i think i'm gonna stick with that i don't have to worry about going to neutral with pad when trying to do ewgf

Fighting games were meant to be played by a joystick.

After playing Tekken 5 on PS2 and Tekken 4 in the arcdes I agree with this statement.

Same here. I was so happy the Tekken 5 machines had PS2 controller ports.

I use the T5 stick that came in the collectors edition bundle. I'd use this over any pad anyday.

Hori sticks are the best for 3D games. T5 being bundled with one is a sweet deal.

better to use sticks, then when u go to the arcade you will play better, and wont use lame excuses like "you beat me cuz i suck at stick, i use pads"

pretty much on the same boat here.

I don't see how stick is harder than pad, unless you're trying to do ewgf and movement options like backstep, hayashida, wavedash.

ewgf is so easy on a good pad, but since hori stick is out i'm going to try to learn stick, cuz you'll never be able to wd as fast on pad as you can on stick.

americans stick suck for ewgf though, i tried the sf stick yesterday and goign to neutral is a bitch.

been using pad for tekken 3 and older. but now that i got my hrap i use stick instead. I can feel the difference between the namco stick and hrap though, but close enough.

I use both. I plan on using the sticks at the arcade but if they're broken or something I can just use a pad.

Too good!

But I thought all the Tekken 5 Cabinets had Controller ports for PS2 Controllers? Every Cabinet I have seen (3 Total) have the PS2 Controller Slots with the slot for the cards.

So if this is true for all the T5 cabinets then the Pad users have no excuse. Unless they are playing older Tekkens like Tag.

Stick

Because its very hard to pull off d,df moves ( like Julia's elbows ) on a pad.

i absolutely can NOT play tekken with a pad

I like the idea, but I don't like the idea that its always default config.

It's not that I used program buttons, but I usually use RP and RK for my shoulder buttons (and not for Triangle and Square).

This really sucks for me. If only Tekken 5 had a buildt-up memory card slot so it can load your control config

I saw someone playing with a big-ass Pelican stick in the arcade, instead of using the cabinet's stick. Department of Redundancy Department? He seems very uncomfortable trying to sit on a stool, balancing that fat box on his lap, and still play effectively.

I'd pay to see that

i like the pad... ewgf easier  ..but i use my right hand like arcade usin index and middle finger..that how u pad players play?? ewgf is pretty hard for me to do on arcade, doing the neutral part is a bitch..pad feels like just doing srk motion

I use the ps2 pad because I only have to use my thumb for all 4 of the buttons.

ps2 pad is actually better for Tekken... the moves come out much easier.

Yep....that's how I play on a pad....works great. Helps that I got some long fingers too.

PozerWolf: in due time man...cuz I'd love to bring my console customized character to the arcade. The PS2 port thing is a start. In tourney play, though, I think only default configuration is allowed.

Arcade uses $5 magnetic cards that need to be re-bought every 500 matches, not PS2 memory cards. Home version is pretty much for inexpensive training on timing and juggles.

I'm not sure if i should try and get use to both of em. I'm usually all for arcade sticks and nothing else. But i want to get use to both for t5 so i can no excuse about controller or stick.

Well, yeah, I know about that...I've had my cards since it hit the arcade (one for Marduk and one for Asuka). I was just saying that the PS2 controller port is a start. I'm just hoping for a PS2 memory card port in the future. It'll give me a head start on unlocking stuff for the home release and I can bring a character I customized from home into the arcade.

I think DDR & F-Zero are the only games that had that sort of feature. It should be in more.
