i agree with the SNES pad, that was the best! i'm using the s-type right now, but man i'm still trying to get used to it. i even got a converter(from walmart) to use my PS2 controller but it doesn't act right all the time. some time my guys just walks forward when i'm not pressing anything.

anybody played with the offical SF controllers that was released with game? the ones with a pic of a character on each one. if so, how are they?

the official controllers are the ones from nuby. from what ive heard they suck.

get yourself a magicbox converter and hook yourself up with a saturn pad if you dont like sticks.

i was wondering, why you can't set your button configuration to use both white and black buttons, as well as L and R. i know you which ever you set to black/white then L/R are mirror images of that. why not be able to assign them separately? i use all the normal button, but i'd like to have 3XK and 3XP buttons, instead of trying to hit all 3 perfectly on the s-type pad. i don't understand why they left that out.

SFAC stick is pretty cool. Only problem is it doesn't have a communicator slot. So no audio chat.

Yes it does.

Take it from someone who has the thing.

It depends on what you prefer man. I went from using the xbox S controller to the Real Arcade Pelican Stick, but I find it way too uncomfortable. So I went back the the S pad.
I'm just going to wait the the nuby SF controller for xbox. Only because playing a fighting game with triggers blows. IMO

I finally got the game and am testing the Mortal Kombat Kontroller with it. Need a damn substitution for the shitty Storm Chaser(That pad is horrible on HyperSF2 and 3rd strike)

Just 3 more weeks till the ps2 re released saturn pads get sold at play-asia.com.

All the SF:AC sticks, Tekken5 bundle, and real arcade pro customs are no longer stock at my game stores.

If you have the funds, use a Snes pad for your Xbox. That's what I'm currently using.

.

They already make a converter that lets you use Saturn pads on the Xbox.

What the shit ? Theres a snes to xbox converter ?

I'm still using the S controller, and I hate playing someone when I know they're using a stick, it just seems like such an unfair advantage, because with the S controller (mine at least) I find my character ends up doing lot of things I dont want it to, and not doing a lot of thing that I want it to

yes do what he said, i have the SFAC ... WITH microphone capabilities, it is great. Only problem is, i havnt used a joystick to play a fighting game in years so i sometimes F up lol. but im getting used to it though so now i can actually kick ass at the arcade. 2nd problem is, figuring out how ur going to sit to play LOL. took me 2-3 days to come up with a final solution.

Definitely. I had that problem when CvS2 was first released. I used to get beat by people I KNEW sucked who were playing like trash because I couldn't do anything right with that S controller D=

A friend of mine ended up buying 2 RedOctane sticks, gutting them, and putting in arcade parts. It works fantastically well, but there's no voice communication. I'm sure I could hack up a MadCatz pad and set it up, but that would take effort.

Anyway, point is, fuck pads.

Alrighty, this is only for those who are dead serious about using a Snes Pad on their Xbox.

First, see if you have a Snes Pad on hand. If not, head over to www.nintendo.com and purchase an official Snes Pad for roughly $15 (yes, they still do in fact sell them over there). Then, contact Mas Systems and inform the engineer there that you want a Snes PS2 pad. Pretty much, you will be using the body of the Snes controller with the interior interface of a regular PS2 pad (he uses an encoder chip). Once that is done, get a Dreambox Adapter and you are good to go. The engineer will probably charge close to a $100 to modify your pad. My bro & I modified 2, so that was $200. For most, this probably wont be worth it. But, in our case, our SF history has always been about the Snes Pad. So...good luck with whatever periph you choose.

I have purchased 2 different PS2 to Xbox adapters and neither of them work.

I got the Joybox which I later read was crap and I should get a Universal Controller Adapter, so I got UCA.

I have tried PS1 original, PS1 dual-shock and PS2 controllers with my adapters and both adapters are totally useless.

Are there any good PS to Xbox adapters?

Works flawlessly in SFAC, has a weird glitch in GGXX that causes everything to scroll down. Not sure why.

Allows headphone use if you like.

Thanks, I will have to check that one out. Hopefully it will work as I have now wasted $30 2 uselass adapters.

I got the Real Arcade Pelican Stick, what a waste of money. As someone else mentioned it's pretty big which is a pain. Also, I just got it last week and it's already broke. Sometimes it's doesn't respond when I crouch, I can't believe I wasted money on it...

SFAC Stick.

Thumbs up, so far. It took me a little while to get used to(it's my first stick), but now that I'm comfortable with it I'm doing well.

The SFAC stick is very nice, especially if you mod it. Very easy to put Happ stuff in, no soldering. Joystick just felt shifty on diagnols out of the box. The mods solved that problem.

I used to play CVS2 with a Saturn pad/Magic Box...but if you're planning on playing 3s a lot, i'd highly recommend an arcade stick, this game needs to be played on one for a maximum effect

Some people use the SNES pads? That is crazy. I found it easy to pull off moves but hitting L always messed me up, not sure why. I use an X-Arcade stick. It is pricey but I got it as a gift and works like a charm. Although my character gets stuck sometimes in crouch position...but I have heard that SFAC has a lot of converter problems. Magic Box works the best from what people say here.

I was using my Namco PSX Arcade stick hooked up to a MagicBox converter for most of my games but the Jap style Stick just makes it harder to cancel into supers for me, so I switched over to the Saturn pad and I'm playing much better now.

The only downside to the Saturn pad is that it does not have a select button so you can’t pick the extra colours, but that’s a small trade for better performance.

End of the day you have to use the control device which suites you best.

Playing with S-pad isn't as bad as I thought it would be...as long as I keep the rumble feature off. First time I went on line and did Dudley's j.RH->DPxx(?)SA1 I thought the controller was going to explode. Shit reminds me of plating on the DC pad but with rumble and slightly more comfortable.

Just got the Xbox version last night and am more used to plaing it on PS2 with the SF Anniversary pads and the T5 stick. I think I'm goona go ahead and pick up the SFAC stick and the controllers(actually just the Guile one) once it comes out. Having the mic is pretty fun, whether talking about shit back in the day or people telling me I suck and don't know how to use a character but then proceed to fuck them up.

EDIT: Anyone know how easy/hard it would be to mod an SFAC stick with Jap parts like Sanwa? After playing on the T5 stick(which I know isn't Sanwa) it's hard to go back, after playing with that type of stick. Don't care too much for the bat style.

I've heard the Sanwa mod on the SFAC stick is a bit difficult. I think the button switchout is easy enough, but putting the stick in requires some mods to the deck itself to get it to fit. I put a Happ Comp stick in(square acuator-GOOD)and that bolted right in. Just check in Hardware/Technical Support Forums-I've seen a lot of SFAC stick threads. ArcadeStickMonk is a name you should look for, he has some really good tips for would be modders.

After getting Kara-thrown like a ragdoll last night, I'm definitely picking up a joystick when they become available locally here at EBgames (already pre-ordered).

Ahhh...I figured as much. I haven't done any modding to a stick before(almost did it to the Pelican I have but the mic doesn't work, so hopefully I can find a place that takes 'em in(EB=no go)) I saw ASM's post. That was pretty awesome, but I don't care for the bat stick myslef tho'. Still better than the S-pad.

Absolutely. My SFAC stick is currently in pieces as I finish the mod. But I can already tell the mod is very simple, just a matter of getting some time to get it done.

And yes, I also agree the SFAC is quite dodgy on detecting diagonals. This sucks ass for using Hugo. When you plan to release a special move and just a fierce or roundhouse comes out (where Hugo flies onto the ground and leaves himself WIDE open)??? not good, not good at all. I can't f'ing wait till this Happ stick is installed in there.
