i have seen a lot of people pick alex and do the elbow rush into stun gun and i don't know how to get out of it. being a total noob to 3s, i've tried jumping, mashing, damn near everything. this is against hugo and online, btw

Are you blocking the elbow, or taking the hit, parrying might help, also, which ver. of the elbow is it? weak, medium, fierce, or EX

blocking the hit. not sure which strength to be honest...probably medium. i would try to parry it, but lag usually makes me eat the elbow...

Try dashing after you block the elbow, usually people use the jab stun gun and most characters(not sure about Hugo)clear the grab radius with a backwards dash. If a medium stun gun is used you might sneak under him with a forward dash instead.

isn't it possible to just jab out of the stun gun super. never tried it but saw it in the strategy guide that anyone can jab as he come down thats why the super isn't recomended.

Dashing under the stungun is risky cuz u can't know if it's a MP or LP stungun; LP catch the dash forward and MP catch the backdash so just jab it or try a LK backcbreaker.

Yeah but look how small the bar is...even if you miss you can build it up quickly to try again...thats why its so dangerous (just like GJ)

Hugo is the best char to parry with online so no doubt hes gonna parry that elbow with ease and its easy to dash forward to avoid the stun gun but alot of people panic

Jabs don't always seem to work for me for some reason; maybe I'm just retarded. I was wondering about the backbreaker though, good to know that works. Good heads up :karate:

I do that alot and you can usually see the hugo start the jump animation....wrong move.

I don't ever recall a hugo getting away tho'.

EX into stungun would be a bit hard - the Stungun's got only one level. :wgrin:
More than the button used to do the blocked elbow, often a factor is the distance between the two characters.

First of all, Hugo unfortunatelly can't dash under a MP Stungun. He's just too big.

Knowing that, one has to guess. If the opponent does a MP, by far the best option is a LK backbreaker, as it really isn't hard to time (it doesn't even require "reversal" timing - just regular good execution). If the opponent does a LP, we can escape with a simple backdash. Problem is, it's very hard to catch a LP stungun with LK back backbreaker. I've had it fail even with reversal timing. It can work only when Alex is very close to us when starting the Stungun.

As far as I've understood it's also a matter of distance. it seems that the farther away from us the Stungun is started, the HARDER it becomes to catch it with a backbreaker.

Sure, one possibility is always a random jab, but it's active period is very short I have troubles timing it right.

There are also alternative methods, like EX Lariat and SA3 (altough it whiffs), but from my experience against Stungun traps, for Hugo it's mostly a gamble between LK backbreaker for MP Stungun and jump away for LP Stungun.

Alternatively, there's a thread about it here: http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57036&page=2&pp=15

Best way for me to get out of it is SA3. Backbreaker doesnt work all the time.

Dashing in does not work at all against alex's stungun because hugo is too tall. When he dashes his head will just hit alex's feet and he will still be right in front of him.

Edit. I never tried but his ex closeline (sp?) might beat it out if it's done instantly.

edit again. Just read the above post. SA3 doesnt completely whiff. If you time it right it wil land some hits. I'm thinking if you wait to super at the very last second you can hit him with the whole thing. I have to give that a shot.

I dont know if they changed stun gun from how it is in the arcade, but it isn't that great of a threat if he's predictable with it, which is . You can always jab them out of it, and since hugo's jab is pretty far reaching (in comparison to other jabs) you shouldn't have much trouble at all. Honestly, if that's the best stun gun trap they have, then you should be glad. Without a good supply of EX's and the occasional punch of SA2, Alex is left without a lot of his tools.

Does megaton press catch Alex in stun gun animation?

Practice parrying the elbow dash. Once you get the feeling down it is not too difficult, even in lag. I usually parry the elbow then jmp.rh

I did play a guy who was comboing into the elbow dash then Stungun. That was pretty difficult to deal with, he did well with that strategy

Ummm just jab the stun gun as he's coming down.

If you have good timing backbreaker him... If not then just burn the meter and EX lariat out of it... I am pretty sure you will always have meter to burn with Hugo...

Jabbing is too risky, what with lag and all... But the above 2 options doesn't need reversal timing to get out...
