Favorite BGMs in fighting games

Mainly an attempt to shout out more Tekken 5 :clap: . .regardless of the fact at hand. . what are some of your all time favorite stage music in fighting games?

as for me
Tekken 5
1. "Red Hot Fist"(burning hon maru) :: The drums are RIDICULOUS!! The hard deep boom of the drums makes fighting on this stage feel like an epic experience. Added to the effect is the simply BEAUTIFUL burning Honmaru temple ruins. Love this stage to pieces. Makes me want to buy the soundtrack.

2. "Gold Rush"(pirate treasure stage) :: This one is really nice for two reasons. One. . it starts off really mellow and smooth with vocal chanting and two, the stage is nice in itself. Not long after the vocals it starts to kick it up a notch with a nice techno-ish beast while the vocals still echo in the background.

3. "Ka-En-No-Mai" (gates of hell stage):: I like this one too. Very oriental and upbeat. Goes really well with the stages dark colors. Gets VERY intense near the end and comes to a complete silence. AWESOME! :party:


Tekken 4

1.Rooftop :: The only one I really remember. It was really mellow. It downplayed the mayhem of Tekken 4 matches.


Soul Calibur

1. City Of Water(Siegfrieds stage) :: Orchestrated. Really full sound, you can hear the cellos and violas and everything, really nice as well. I used to pick that stage in practice mode and just let it run over and over.

2. Astaroth stage :: I like this one too. Really evil sounding, hard to explain. Think "scary symphony".


Mortal Kombat 6

1.Beetle Lair :: This one had a nice hard drum beat to keep the pace of the match as well.

I'm just gonna list my top 3 because if I listed more it would go on forever.

Tekken 5-moonlight wilderness. Not only is it the most badass BGM I've ever heard, but it goes so well with the tighest level in fighting game history.

Hyper Sf2-Cammy's stage(london) especially the remade version in aniversery collection.

XvSF-Storm's BGM. I dont know why, I just like it.

I have hundreds more, but I'm too lazy to type them all up.

Lee's stage isnt bad, just a little too "jumpy" for me.

And the Waterfall stage in Tekken 5 is starting to grow on me. The final stage is really nice too.


And now that I think about it the Beach stage in Tekken 4 wasnt that bad. I like the beginning when it does that "ring tone" thing.

Airport was mellow and cool too.

Anybody notice how a LOT of the stage music in Tekken 4 was lightly playing in the background and REALLY mellow? It was like RPG music, still hot tho.

My favorite of all time was Jin's stage from Tekken 3. I'm not sure if it was the arcade mix or the console mix, but I know that the song was fucking awesome.

I don't know about the rest, though. I always liked the Ice Stage from MvC2, NYC from 3S, and NYC, Aomori, and London from CvS2.

I'm a huge fan of Guy's Theme in Alpha 3. If Capcom ever does another Final Fight, they need to put that track on one stage.

In DBZ: B3, I really like the music in Inside Buu, and the Mountains.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, just about every BGM music owns. The music is easily a 10 in that game for me.

Basically every Guilty Gear song...There really aren't any bad ones. Holy Orders, Feel a Fear and Momentary Life are the three that readily stand out.

Melty Blood actually has one of the cooler fighting soundtracks in recent years..."Theme of Arcueid", "The End of 1000 Years" and "Emergency Occurance" are some of my all time faves.

One overlooked fighting soundtrack is Battle Arena Toshinden 2...Many awesome tracks from there (not quite Guilty Gear calibre, but close). Ellis, Tracy, Kayin and Sofia TAKE 1 are the immediate stand-outs.

SNK rarely disappoints, but their strongest one to date was the King of Fighters 98 soundtrack(the arcade version). Not a bad track on that one. "Esaka?" is still the #1 KOF piece, though "Requiem for 50,000 People" from Maximum Impact was impressive. "Nice Guy of the Seven Seas" and "Johnny Let's Dance" from World Heroes 2 are two great old-school favorites and then there's Geese's classic theme...

My favorite Capcom works were the early VS soundtracks...Really not a bad track on any of them (yes, I liked Marvel vs Street Fighter's music, which a lot of people can't stand for some reason). Street Fighter 2, Alpha 1+2 and Capcom Fighting Evolution all had some nice music as well.

Momentary Life, Guilty Gear PSX version. Greatest fighting game track out there*, and the reason I even got into the GG series (hunting down the game where it came from, etc). Other than that, pretty much Guilty Gear anything. Keep Yourself Alive, Suck a Sage, and Still in the Dark rank pretty high up there as well.

Some 3rd Strike stuff sounds pretty nice as well, like the DC/PS2 arranged Ryu's theme (2nd Mix) or Alex/Ken stage (any version). And needless to say MvC2/CvS2 is pretty awful music-wise...

KOF 99's Tears of Esaka = best game BGM ever. But not the lame ass version in the NeoGeo version, the orchestrated one in the PSX port (which sucked off the original, but had better music quality).

Rock's theme music is awesome too, one of the first instances of using actual music as a theme for a game character. Too badass.
