Do you think PSP will have a following in the Fighting game Genre?
What games should come out on PSP? (What would you like to see?)
I think thats its really okay for Developers to make fighting games for the PSP. It wasn't as bad as people made it seem for SFA3 on GBA. It was like a practice of practice. Had the same engine and everything. It worked. But I think that playing a fighting game on a 6button + controller wouldn't be that bad. Plus, it'd give you opportunities to extend your stompin grounds. :badboy:

Honestly, I don't think the PSP controls aren't solid enough for serious fighting that requires perfect timing and execution (especially with the faulty and unresponsive Square button). Leave the fighters for the arcade and home, where you can use a proper joystick.
What I'd love to see are 'training mode' games released for PSP alongside the arcade release for a hot new fighter (ie. Soul Calibur 3 or Virtua Fighter 5 or Tekken 6). It would have downgraded graphics, but the exact same fighting engine and a full move list for every character in the game. It would either retail for 1/2 the price as a regular PSP title, or it would be packaged free in a game magazine. Arcade fighting fans can practice their moves and combos anywhere away from the arcade, and console-only players can sample the game while waiting for the full-fledged home port.
Don't care it's like playing a fighter on a PS controller. Give me all the fighters on my DS or PSP and I will be playing people through wifi should the opportunity present itself. I mean, it's a handheld and all, but I'm an addict so beggars can't be choosers, right?

Youīre on the bus/train/plane/work-break.
Option a) do nothing, because "PSP controls arenīt good enough".
Option b) play ports on the GBA, which canīt even reproduce a MVS game.
Option c) play ports on the PSP, which can reproduce any Capcom or SNK fighting game.
Hmmm... what a hard choice!

Circular motions in particular would be the worst with the tiny PSP D-pad. I'd rather play other fighters on PSP (like MK and Namco/Sega brawlers) that don't rely on HCF/QCF/etc. motions as much as SNK/Capcom games do. Especially since I like playing with 360/720 grappler characters the most. Thankfully fighters have largely moved away from complicated 'Raging Storm/Tenha Fujin Zan'-type motions-- a PSP game with those type of controls would break your thumbs (my thumb joints get sore enough as is, playing less demanding games on the PSP).
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't object to a port of Third Strike on PSP. I also wouldn't take it half as seriously as I would with its home/arcade counterpart.
EDIT:
Option a) do nothing, because "PSP controls arenīt good enough".
To be fair, PSP offers plenty of multimedia services (with more on the horizon), independant from gaming and fiddling with its stiff action buttons. It's hard to find yourself 'doing nothing' with the machine around. Brilliant device overall.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few good fighting games on the PSP. I've got SSFII and SFA3 on the GBA, and they're pretty good, you get used to the little d-pad and manage to execute all the special moves pretty well. The PSP at least has more buttons and a larger screen, they might be okay.

I personally would like to get my hands on a PSP before saying it would work well for fighters. It took me a minute to get used to the PS2's D-pad and the possibility of having messed up controls during gameplay would suck to no end.
But I rarely had time for portables before anyway so bring on the console ports.

The PSP has a analog stick, as long as you can use that, it should be alright.

i'd love to see a psp port of garou, though , especially seeing as the small screen would probably make the characters actually look hi res

It was impossible to do a 720 on the GBA for A3. I just set that shit on EZ mode. I didn't have to worry about that for Turbo Revival except for the 720. I really don't have a point but the 720 was freaking hard to do.

Same here, no matter what the game I can never get the little sticks to work well for actual gameplay. I mean I know it takes a while for me to get used to some arcade sticks but I never get used to play a fighting game with an analog.
Besides the PSP analog keeps looking to much like a speaker for me to remember half the time it comes with one.

well psp should at least put capcom mugen jam for a fighter (capcom fighting evolution) since that game sucks* other that darkstalkers 3 is coming out for it... but on topic i think they should make 2d fightes for the psp... not for competition... just for fun...
oh and remember... whoever plays with a D-Pad fucks his dad up his ass...

Personally I've been thinking about this since I heard about psp, and I think that if they made a joystick that plugged into the psp's usb port, and had mounting equipment to hold it in place it would be the perfect fighting game machine. Think about it, wi-fi, quality joystick, huge beautiful screen, better than ps2 graphics = the ultimate gaming experience. You could have a hundred people in a building and if the game had a tournament mode or even casual matchs over wi-fi you could play too your hearts content. I defintely think without the joystick it wouldnt be nearly as fun, but with it I could see it being as fun as going to an arcade. BTW if this did happen 3rd strike needs to be the first game made for it IMO

I won't buy a psp till theres a good SF game on it, and not that dark stalker shit either, the shit is a no brainer, if its online capable wow too much fun.
I would like to see: Tekken, SF, RE, GT2 with better graphics, not GT4 im boring of it quickly, puzzle fighter, an original action adventure, some good rpgs, and all the sports you can give me, then i'll plunk down whatever cash they want for a PSP
