KOF 2002&2003

I know I probably missed the mark on these two games by about a year or so but I recently got them and like all people trying to get into a game I'm just wondering who some of the better people are. In CvS2 I was very good with Terry, Ken(Capcom), and Sagat(Capcom) which from what I understand is pretty common. Just wondering who I should play or would enjoy playing in these games. I tried Terry but noticed that he wasn't quite as "broke" as he was in the other games. I became partial to Shen in 2k3 but 2k2 doesn't have him. Any help??

Kensou, Robert, K', and Athena are reliable, Iori is also. However, Athena and Iori have scrub connotations the same way using Sagat in CvS2 does.

Since you probably won't be competing with other players at these, here are the best for single play in 2k2: Rugal and Goenitz

And here are the best for 2k3: Mukai and Adel

I really don't wanna play as any boss chars. I know rugal must be broke. I don't really care about competing, I just like being GOOD. The MvC2 gods ruled my neighborhood for too long. I learned the Iron Man infin and they suddenly lost interest due to many beatings. So then I found people around here who were WORTH playing in MvC2. The same thing is happening with this now. I've beat the neighborhood junkies and wanna step my game up a little.

kim, athena, billy, choi, vice, leona. I'm pretty sure there was a couple more, but that's the korean ranking. grapplers suck in this game btw. console characters, those and add king, shingo, and the boss guys.

Yeah King is pretty high up there and Tizoc is the best grappler next to Daimon so I suggest use some of them.

the reason Athena and Iori are hated has little to do with their shoto tendencies. In fact, in terms of pure shoto- Kensou is the strongest at FB/uppercut some, and no one complains about him being overpowered.

athena is hated due to insane priority and speed. think SFA2 Chun with Ryu's fb for a quick and dirty comparison. Iori is mostly hated due to his stupid back+B, which is a no-skill crossup/super backdash exploit, plus he has really powerful rushdown in addition to shoto tactics. usually vs Iori I try to have a keep-out character and out-shoto Iori, which is hard, or use a runaway char.

That Korean ranking is pretty good, but should be IMO

and Vice to me isn't all that special. Maybe I haven't seen anything from Vice that screams broken, unlike most of the above. Leona is good, but I always saw her as more of an upper-mid then a top.

In 03, K' pretty good, so is Billy, Robert, Kyo and Tizoc. Those are basically characters that have the most options.

Robert and Yuri are the best at being Shoto-clones though, right down to Yuri having the Shin-shoryuken and DenjinHadouken, oh excuse, "Harcore Yuri Upper" and "Conquerer Thunder Crunch."

Can't say much about 02 since I don't play it that often.

Vice and Leona, I'm curious. Didn't think Vice had a chance with such terrible matchups.

Grappelers DO suck in this game; Clark was nerfed in comparison to his 98/2000 abilities. Shermie isn't that bad in this game, however.
I would have to agree with Vanessa being top-tier; she has alot of crazy-mind games with her dashes.

I thought pretty much everyone knew that already. Duo lon + grappler(likely, Daimon) = good team in 2003

IIRC (no particular order)...

2002 = Choi, Athena, Billy, Goro, Iori, Vanessa.
2003 = Duo Lon, Benimaru, K´, Goro, Ash, Tizoc The Griffon.

Grapplers are good in both games (they´re always good in KOF), so Clark and Shermie can compete pretty well too.

Aw man, I can't read a single bit of it. Can you, or someone, translate some key info. Or is there a site that will translate this?

kof is really losing it's fun and I just wanted to see if there was some cool stuff to be found.

Working with K',Iori, and Joe(or Billy) on both games now. Any advice....I've learned to play keep away with K's qcf+lp(or sp) then f+lk it's a nice set-up like the old FBT with ryu on just about any SF i've played(which is alot) Iori is just....well Iori....SRK, qcf+lp jump in or the command throw, repeat ...but joe is more like i'm playing sagat all over again with diff commands. Can anyone help me break these trends?? I hate playing CvS2 with another name.

With '02 Iori, to start, I recommend plenty of rushing, as well as abusing his b+LK command cross-up. I don't play Billy, so I don't have any advice for him.

Billy is about :r:+:snka: of course. :P And the grapplers don't suck- Ramon, Clark and Shermie can compete with the best of 'em, from experience.

I don't think they suck i just dont use em. Can't play em right for some reason...them and chargers.
