Well I've been checking on people's post about games in here and what they said about them alot. The most brought up things were gameplay, graphics, and sprites being updated or always new so which one is the better of the 3 for you graphics, gameplay or the sprites in the 2d games.

Cool? Graphics/sprites.

Good? Gameplay.

For example, Rumble Fish looks cool but I have no idea if it's good b/c I know nothing about the gameplay.

Gameplay. I can play anything as long as it plays well. Hence my preference of the more arcade-perfect, yet slightly graphically-lacking snes version of Samurai Showdown over the pretty, but shitty Genesis version.

Gameplay is all that matters. It's a game therefore it should be a companies 1st priority to give it good GAMEplay. Everything else is just there to improve the game, but without good gameplay the game is doomed from the start.

BTW, wheres the really pimp BGM option?

The gameplay is easily more important than anything else. Graphics and sprites make a game stylish, but it can't be good if it doesn't have the gameplay to back it up.

I think most of all is that if it's fun or not when I play it. I just can't get into some games because I don't think they're fun. So basically gameplay matters the most.

you know a game is good when it's horridly unbalanced

Or if it has "balancing" glitches like Roll Cancel!!

I know gameplay mostly counts but people got all mad about capcom fighting jam everyone was all like that game sucked cause they didn't have good sprites or shit like that or they didn't have all of the characters moves or shit.

I mean I understood when people got mad about the 3rd strike characters cause they all got fucked up and shit but also people were kind of mad about the ssf2t characters as well.

I mean I thought the game was cool and shit but maybe if they didn't add 3rd strike in there and could of sup for another game it would be cool (like say rival schools or jo's jo's bizzare adventure but that game was based off a comic book.

All I'm saying here is that a game nowdays has to have like sprite updates to be COOl sometimes. Kof neowave is dope but people don't like that fact snk is still using the same sprites for that game. Do you guys get what I'm saying here?

I want to know who's going to be first to pick anything but gameplay.

I think it's much more complicated than just breaking it down into 3 categories. I appreciate and like different games for completely different reasons.

gameplay is very important, but you gotta have standards with graphics and sprites. like really, even my dad basically said, "da fuck is with morrigan." when i was playing CvS2 with my buddy.

I voted sprites to spite the poll cause I'm a grahics whore!1! :lame:

Of course gameplay is most important, a poll isn't necessary. A better question would be what kind of gameplay makes a good game.

I am glad to see everyone voting gameplay. Graphics do not make the game, I can't stress that enough.

No sleep last night, so if anyof this sounds stupid, forgive me.

If i could, I would say all of these are equally important. They're all linked to each other. Graphics wise, frames are important for obvious reasons. Sprite reactions and stuff should are important visually for cues and in a way, for buffering. Sprite actions have to look right and there should be enough frame shots of a sprite "action" for attacts to make sense, which transitions into gameplay. If sprites are tuned to the gameplay and graphics, you would assume that things don't quite add up to what they spose to look like. It would be like SF3 Akuma FP without that one with his opposite fist in the air. It wouldn't give the opportunity for priority between a lp if they come out at the same exact speed. IMO they all are apart of the balance factor that makes the game understandable. Without 1 of these things, it becomes too hard to understand.

Graphics/sprites don't make the game, but it does help to attract players' attentions. I remember the first time I saw Marvel vs Capcom 2 in the arcades. It was nice and shiny, making it look a lot more fun than the Deer Hunter machine next to it.
