Ok folks i'm a n00b here,so please bear with me and don't be mean. Hell i don't even know if i've posted this in the right place but i have a couple of questions.
Pretty simple really, but is there any news on if and when Final Tuned is going to be released on the PS2?
And how does it play/what are the main differences compared to the excellent VF:Evolution?
Any help would be great.
Thanks for your time.

yeah it's coming out on PS2. only in japan though. I've yet to see screens of it for some godawful reason.

Fuck.....I was looking for more sources. I heard about a PS2 version from someone that must've heard wrong. Sorry for the misinformation. I'm bummed out.
But anyway, here's a link explaining about the features of VF4:FT.

Of course like GGXX#Reload, you got subtle character balance changes.

Anyway like many sources have already stated, VF4 FT is arcade only, so don't hold your breath for a console port.

Fuck, guess I'll have to settle for VF4:Evo then. :xeye:

is there any particular reason as to why VF4: FT is Arcade only???
is there any particular reason as to why VF4: FT is Arcade only???
Whenever VF comes for home, the arcade revenue drops dramatically. Sega is milking FT as much as it can make it. I'm guessing it will come out only in Japan around June/July.
As a person who has played FT, I think its great. The new CH system, exchangable moves and new moves make it a totally new game IMO. The Challenge mode is also a cool feature for single players.
Fuck, guess I'll have to settle for VF4:Evo then. :xeye:
What's wrong with vf4 evo?

Nothing, I'd just rather have the latest version of the game.
I picked the game up yesterday with DMC3, btw. I'm gonna play it later.

cka, there is something to be said for playing the latest version of your favorite game. Imagine the uproar if there was a Tekken 5: Evo, but it never made it to console, and never even got an arcade release in the US.
A while back it seemed that Sega was going to make a port of FT in Japan only (which is good enough for me), but now it's looking bleak. Evo sold worse in Japan than it did here, because everyone plays at the arcade. So Sega doesn't have very much to gain by releasing it in the US or Japan. In Japan, everyone plays arcade, and in the US no one plays VF period.
Here are the FT system changes, and changes from FT beta > ver A > ver B:

It should be a free download patch for people with evo, paying money for a tiny fucking upgrade is a discraceful business practice. I'd have zero respect if they were to release this and ask full price for it
I don't buy that everyone in japan plays it in the arcade shit either. These people want console versions so they can sit in practice mode all day long practicing moves/combos etc. Perhaps evo just sold crap in japan because the arcade industry is tiny in comparision to the console market, so in theory being the no.1 arcade game in Japan doesn't really mean shit anyway

VF4:Evo was the #1 game like a year ago, but not anymore. And yes, being the #1 arcade game in Japan does mean something. The new big thing in Japanese arcades are card games like Sega-AM2's Quest of D (http://www.questofd.com/index2.html) and Sega's Sangokushi Taisen (http://www.sangokushi-taisen.com/). There are big lines to play Sangokushi Taisen in arcades right now, and Sega is making a killing. Fighting games are taking a backseat recently. Of course when VF5 comes out, there will probably be a major resurgence.
And why wouldn't you pay full price? There is about as much difference between VF4 and VF4:Evo as there is between Tekken 3 and Tekken 5.

Damn, those card games look cool. Any idea how they play? Is it like a trading card game kind of thing, where you construct a deck from cards you buy yourself, or what? What's the purpose of the cab when the cards seem to have plenty of information on them themselves?

It's not the end of the world. As for "Tekken 5: evo", that sort of doesn't apply to me personally because I haven't played Tekken since 3. Also, just find a nearby arcade with a FT cabinet if you want to play it over vf4:evo. Get out and support those poor fucking arcades. :(

so i go to gamecrazy to pick up dmc3, sold out but i pick up vf4evo for 10 bucks to see what the fuss is about.
holy shit this game is oldschool but its so fucking dry. characters are lame (i have vf2, didnt expect much) but oh my god the game system is so complicated. three god damn buttons and im sitting crosseyed with akira.
i wish i had someone to play this with it looks sweet.. now i got to find out which character to stick with. btw that stage with the helicopters is sick haha

I've played a bit, and it's pretty nice. Yeah, it's complex as fuck, but I'm liking it. Aoi's my favourite of the cast so far.

Just chug through the training mode, don't get frustrated as a couple will make absolutly no sense at first. I always found that turning on command display version C was the most helpfull early on.
As for first chars, I usually recommend a striker like Lau to start, but my buddy started with Shun (quite hard to play) and has staggered his way to being fairly profficient. Aoi can be a frustrating first char due to her reliance on yomi (anticipation/reading the opponent) and her relativly weak strikes which make you focus on setting up her nasty throws. The only problem here is the computer can really hurt you when you try to cancel moves with her to set up guessing games, a big part of playing vs. ppl with her.
Welcome to the greatness.

I thought that the training mode in VF4 was better than the one in EVO. In VF4 no matter what happened if you fucked up a move it always told you "too fast" or "too slow", but in EVO unless you are really off it won't say anything. I remember my friend was practicing with Wolf in VF4, trying to do one of his attacks in where it hits then goes into a grab, but his timing was off and it told him right away either "too fast" "too slow". Well in EVO he did a little more practicing with it and unless hea was really off nothing came up. Not the most earth-shattering news but just something I thought was a little strange.

Yeah I noticed this too as I was playing running through wolf's command list. The 4K+G > P+G hit throw was no problem, but there was another I couldn't do for the life of me. I do recall the old fast/slow hints in 4. They were nice. The only alternative I have now is to turn on the command view to frames and work backwards from there.

Looking at the built-in frame analysis is more helpful than "too fast" or "too slow."

They are only 3 FT cabinets in North America: Los Angeles, Toronto and NYC. Actually, NYC's board is out of commision at the moment. There was no domestic release for FT.

He isn't that hardcore into fighting games. He's always ready to throw down in MvC2, DOA3 and SF3(the most), so that shit would already be useless to him. It helped him with it instead of "looking at a bunch of numbers"(his words not mine, so don't get bitchy with me)
This summer I should try getting a VF communtiy to start, hopefully.

That's still better than if Microsoft made the game. "An error has ocurred."

man i love this game so far. im so shocked as to the lack of a vf community in the states.
seriously this game is just fucking awesome. i like brad so far cause he looks persian... ok seriously his ducks are fun but let me get this straight... this game is considered one of the most balanced right?

There are tiers like any other, but for the most part I find the gaps between the tiers to be a bit smaller than most games. You'll see a lot of Akiras and Kages, but all characters can hold their own if you understand their nuances.....even Goh!.

If your talking about VF4 on a whole then yes, it is considered to be THE most balanced. I don't know if it's me or what but this game is just perfection. Everything in it just feels sooooooo solid compared to other 3d fighters.
Cool (but not surprised :razzy: ) to see you are enjoying it.

Dont try to tier vf you'll just look silly best thing to do is just use your character and practice, because it dont matter who you use if you put in the effort you'll reap rewards, this is what makes vf great.
I have not gotten the chance to play final tuned at all there's some definent tweaks that sound interesting.

Seriously, I'm really liking it so far too. There's just so much to it. It's just... Wow. I'm glad I picked this up, there really needs to be more of a VF scene in the US! Becasue god damn..... This shit's good. Real good.

It's been 4 years since 4 came out. When 5 hits (rumored for this year) it will pick up again, but finding competition is always tough. I've only got one friend who plays enough to stick with it. I'm getting tired of whoopin up on Shun Di damnit! Never even seen a FT cabinet. :(

Yeah, VF players are hard to find. Even harder to find ones that aren't asshats.
A good idea is to make a community yourself. Try and get your friends into it and learn it together. It makes learning the game 10x more fun.

If you have any questions on VF that the game's training doesn't cover, visit VFDC (http://www.virtuafighter.com) and then do a search (http://virtuafighter.com/versuscity/search.php?Cat=0) on the forums. Have fun guys. :karate:

Heh heh, I remember you stating that in another thread. I've been meaning to check it out for myself. If you ever wanted play, you should talk to the Toronto VF crew (http://virtuafighter.com/versuscity/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=jamboree&Number=113877&page=0&fpart=28) for info.

So what's a good way to start a community. The friends I have don't like VF complaining that there is TOO MUCH to this game, me= I played a few matches at one of the guys that posts here place but I was rusty and they didn't seem to intrested. I have an acoount at VFDC, so I guess posting shit there would be more helpful. I don't know. I'll see about joining/looking for one here.

Yeah finding people who play is the hard part but if you can convince even one friend to pick it up and play and get good that one friend is all you'll need for a looooong time especially if they're as dedicated as you.
I myself really need to get back into vf you get really shit if you leave it for a long time i doubt i'll even be able to do a good TFT with kage now it's been so long
