I was just hoping a few of you could name some lesser known fighters that I might not have, or know about. I seem to find at least one a week hunting around that I didn't know about. Today I got ahold of Kaiser Knuckle, wich isn't horrible to play around with. Also got Tattoo Assasins, wich I thought was never released, though it sucks balls.
I don't really want to name every fighter I have, but I'm sure some of you know of a few I haven't played.
/me is trying to obtain every mediocre or better fighter.

Les Miserables
It was called "Arm Joe". Les Miserables is the source it's based off of.
I vote Anna vs. Sentimental Fighter for obscure shit.

Some wierd robot fighter for PC. I don't know the title, but it was made by Epic Megagames...I think. It had anime characters in it, like the announcer and the win quote was an anime drawing.
It let you customize robots, and for some reason I really liked it. This was about 7 years ago? It was a 2d fighter.
Btw it is not Rise of the Robots. Maybe someone else remembers this game?

Ahhh, One Must Fall 2097. It's actually got a really funky combo system for those of you who're into that - everything juggles like mad (even throws), but you can't use the same move twice. The above link is my site.
Also, Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi. LOL.

I donno how rare they are but Queen of Hearts 98 or 99 http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?name=Queen+of+Heart+'98 for the PC is japanese and actually really fucking good despite what the review says. All the Neo Geo fighting games, www.neogeoforlife.com to read about them.

Newb.
QoH is obscure only if you don't know about doujin games at all. They've also not aged well IMO.
I also must've missed the part where SNK fighters were "obscure", unless you mean like Buriki-One or Kizuna Encounter or something.

Waku Waku 7, NeoGeo. Marvel-like fighting engine, weird characters.

Nice, thought I had, or at least played all the Neo-Geo fighters. Buriki-One I haven't, looks different to say the least.
Found Arm Joe, will check it out.
Anna vs. Sentimental Fighter, heh, doesn't even come up in a search.
Also haven't heard of Rabbit, is that any good? Especially since I have been planning to re-buy a Saturn for some games. I miss Dark Legend and its sequel, broken as hell, but quite fun.
SNES
"Hey Punk, Are You Tuff Enuff? Master the Moves to Master Me"
My friend KoNinja has it. Maybe I'll put up some screenshots later..unless there are pics on the web. The game is incredibly fricken broken. Punching somebody in a corner doesn't push back so you can just keep doing that all day and win.

Thrill Kill (4-player gore fest) for PSX never released though.
It was pretty fun with multiplayer don't expect any deep gameplay.
Chars. we're real sick, Dr. Faustus was my favorite.

Breakers / Breaker's Revenge (Neo-Geo). Pretty flashy, very nice graphics, good animation, decent soundtrack, very good controls. Only problem is one character that, when you listen to his voice, will make you go "...???".
Does anybody here remember Biofreaks(N64)
and on a sidenote...does anybody remember when the N64 was almost named the "Ultra 64"? God, that would have been bad.

The French character, Pielle? His voice is seriously fucked up. I love how they obviously tried to avoid Engrishing his name up and consequently did it anyway .

tech romancer 2d capcom mech fighting game
Hmm, Tech Romancer is 3D, not 2D. :)
It even had a DC port.
How about Star Gladiator, even though it's pretty bad..
Oh, and Breakers is funny. "Pielle" in itself is really fucking bad engrish.. I still have no clue why the Japanese like french that much, yet make such stupid mistakes like Pielle. It's an R, not an L!

Nice, thought I had, or at least played all the Neo-Geo fighters. Buriki-One I haven't, looks different to say the least.
Buriki-One was one of the fighters released for the ill-fated Neogeo 64 arcade board, so I'm not surprised that you haven't at least heard of it. It's supposed to be weird, with the buttons as movement and the joystick as the attacks.
Other fighters for the board were Fatal Fury Wild Ambition and Samurai Spirits 64 1 and 2.

IIRC there were 2 Star Gladiators.. I remember playing the second on my DC.
Pretty ordinary game, but I mostly remembered because one of the gashapon I have is of a Star Gladiator character :)
Cyberbots is a weird one..
I could list obscure C64 fighters, like Way of the Exploding Fist 1 and 2, as well as International Karate 1, 2 and 3.. As well as Black Panther, which is a multi-layer fighter. It's quite weird. Add to that that International Karate 3+ was the first ever 3-player fighter :) If you played with someone else, each person was a fighter, and there was an extra fighter that was AI controlled...
Yie Ar Kung-Fu comes to mind as well, parts 1 and 2.

Anna vs. Sentimental Fighter (http://pine.zero.ad.jp/~zaj80448/avs).
You need to have Japanese region set as default or else the program won't work because all the important filenames are in Japanese. It controls like KoF, right down to rolls, low jumps, and CD attacks. It's also very broken.

Eternal Champions CD
Martial Master ( animations that rival 3s and great gameplay too )

Martial Master's... that's in the top tier of games I want to play. Have never seen it in an arcade, it isn't emulated, never ported to a home system, sucks. Looks real nice and is based on a kung fu movie that I like alot.
I can't afford a whole arcade set up for it, so until it's ported or emulated, I'm shit out of luck. Arcades on Maui are awful. Miss the old Yellow Brick Road days at UTC, and Mission Beach arcade in S.D.
I did get Dan-Ku-Ga, wich is like the SF:CE of Kaiser Knuckle. Playable bosses and slightly tweaked moves and characters. Pretty fun game actually, reminds me of maybe original Fighters History, possibly better. Haven't played it enough yet to tell.
Thanks for the reccomendations peoples.

We have a Martial Masters machine here, except they used a Capcom control panel, covered up the far right buttons, and stuck the crappy panel on the game. :\

Way of the Warrior. It was made by the guys at Naughty Dog and was released on the 3DO. It is some kind of Mortal Kombat clone that includes a Scottish fighter that shoots a fireball form under his kilt.
Ranma ½: If you like the Anime you will like these. They appeared on the SNES and PSX however the game are very broken.
Pretty Fighter X: it was for the Saturn and it was an all-girl fighting game. It was not to bad at all and if you go on a win streak in 1 player mode you are treated to more revealing pictures of your fighter.
Sailor Moon: Another batch of fighters that were on the SNES and PSX and where very broken. Once again if you liked the Anime you might enjoy these.

NOt very obscure I guess but most people seem to have missed out on it, Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, by capcom I love this game.
On the Arm Joe note, Man the Guard or police guy has the easiest infinite ever. Just dash+jab then land and jab and then do the dash jab again, Forever, so easy.

Time Killers the Arcade game. I use to love that game. You can chop off arms and legs and still fight. Get them dizzy and you can hack them into pieces. Pretty good combo system too...

Street Fighter :p
*Off Topic*
Also someone mentioned the "Ultra 64" moniker the N64 had before it's console release: I thought that was waaay better than plain old "Nintendo 64".
IMO that's kinda where Nintendo went wrong with the system. Before they changed it, the Ultra 64 had a slick looking logo and the system and controllers where adorned in a slick lookin black, silver and red. It had a completely different image before Nintendo screwed everything up and turned it into "The Fun Machine", with rainbow colored logo and controllers to match.

no offence, but time killers...and its "sequel" bloodstorm are widely considered the worst fighting games of all time.

Wasn't that sold here in the states? I think I almost bought it but passed on it. Kid Akira was pretty ill.
Would Tobal No.2 count as rare or a tragedy since it never got U.S. release.

I can't remember the name but there is a Samurai Showdown like clone on NEO GEO Cartridge that has only 7 or so copies in the world. One of them sold on Ebay for over 10,000 dollars (US). If you go to Neo Geo.com you can ask them for more shit. From what I have heard SS is actually better. :)
Martial Masters is a freaking fun game. We have one in Las Vegas at the Excalibur arcade. It is rarely played and is in almost mint condition. It is very interesting but if it becomes popular then you can beat PS2 will finally make a copy of it available 5 years after it is out!!!
Fighter's History was a pretty rare game. It had weak spots that when hit would lead up to a dizzy. Wasn't that bad actually. I think they made a sequel but I don't know for sure.

OldMan mentioned this, but man one of THE best fighters that I've EVER played was an obscure one: Groove On Fight by Atlus, released in jap aracades and on the saturn. It is the 3rd installment of Gouketsuji Ichizoku aka Power Instinct.
The saturn edition is particularly bad ass cuz it allows for 4 player simul (tag) action. Itz the bomber man of fighting games. Fairly deep and pretty clean engine. I highly recommend you check it out if you get the chance. :bgrin:
For more old school obscurity, try find'n the BROKEN Stick Fighter for PC. Truck loads of freak'n glitches and I believe an option to customize your own stick fighter. Interesting thread btw.
Keep Play'n. Peace

There was a fighting game that Konami released a long time ago that I never got a chance to play. I'm not even sure if it was a fighter or a 2d sidescroller-beat'em-up, but one character was a giant brain with arms, remniscent of the Salamander/Life Force games. Does anyone know the title of this game?
