I don't know why the default reaction to something new is to bash it. For fuck sake, they're condemning it before they've even touched it. Like that guy (can't remember who, I think it was Satoru Iwata) from Nintendo said, graphics will get to a point where they can no longer improve, and the industry will have to start innovating. Nintendo are just getting an early start. People need to open their minds...

So they made the controller to be a VMU plug-in for the old GC Wavebird Controller.

On a related, yet unrelated, note: Has anyone seen the latest PSP commercial?

It features "Take Me Out" as the BGM. I immediately started cracking up remembering all the various YTMNDs using the song.

sony has used that song since the begging. The ytmnd guys started using it because sony did and it fit the scenario.

Keep in mind last year, Max Goldberg restricted NOTHING and just before YTMND went down for months last year porn sites and very tasteless image sites began popping ALOT)

I noticed it today when browsing some old sites.

On the plus side, it ensures against those old piece of shit sites that trick you into seeing tubgirl or kiddy porn, but you might find some of your old favorite sites gone now.

It was like this with Newgrounds before. Yeah, I didn't like how some sites trick you into seeing goatse, terrorist beheading, snuff, and crap. Only thing offensive so far is "riddin' spinnaz" sites, including that one about MGS2 Raiden.

A YTMND was just made a few days ago...the premise being showing how bad women drivers are with clips of Peach from Mario Kart, and it was taken down within the day for being "offensive content". Weak.

I was gonna bitch about the censorship as well, its rather flawed. I notice that a perty much any YTMND with a bad word in it is taken out but for some odd reason you will still run into porn type YTMND.

Still, the censorship is quiet a bit strict.

Okay...so it seems that there's a second site to hold all the "offensive/porn/etc." YTMNDs now.

I don't want to post the link because it could count as linking to an 18+ site...but it's so easy to find I don't even need to...just click on a deleted "offensive" YTMNDs and they have a link there...apparently to access the new site all you have to do is put your birthday and enable a cookie...this is their brilliant plan to keep people 18 and under from accessing adult material...*smirk*

What program do you use to make 8-bit music anyway? I always wanted to do that.
Do you have to actually have a PC integrated keyboard or just simply click and drag notes around?
Well, there are lots of different ways to go about it... for the Eva tune I took the quickest and easiest route which was importing a MIDI of the tune into Fruity Loops, and replacing all the tracks with NES samples that I downloaded a while back.

MOD/IT/S3M/IT-format music (which is like a MIDI but includes audio samples) can also reproduce fairly authentic-sounding 8-bit tunes if you have those NES samples. Modplug Tracker is a pretty easy to learn prorgram for this. No keyboard's necessary.

If you -really- want to go all out, you can actually code your own NES format music like the game developers did back in the day, then convert it into a format that can be played back by an NES emulator, or even an actual NES. I haven't tried this, but it's a very interesting concept.

Anyway, I have to agree that the censorship at YTMND is going a bit overboard. I was just checking my sites, and they took down my Fetus of God site! WTF?! Nothing was in that YTMND that wasn't in arcades in 1997 when Vampire Savior came out.

Anyway, I have to agree that the censorship at YTMND is going a bit overboard. I was just checking my sites, and they took down my Fetus of God site! WTF?! Nothing was in that YTMND that wasn't in arcades in 1997 when Vampire Savior came out.

I heard that if no one else gets your site or doesn't find it funny, then it gets erased. Which was why it says that you can't put any anime related sites up. Yeah, I don't like the "no anime" rule. I wanted to post Galaxy Angel related sites. I even edited the song "United States of Whatever" to "United States of Milfeulle".

BTW, the YTMND fad section on Wikipedia now listed that Scrooge/Ice Cream thing as a craze. I thought it had to have like 10 sites for it to be a craze. I know there's only 4 Scrooge/Ice Cream sites. Was there a Medieval one or something?

Before Six Flags caught wind of it, one of the fads on ytmnd was the Six Flags guy looking like a former Klan member. Once they found out, all YTMNDs involving him were pulled.

What do you think will happen to some of the other fads?

- Nintendo definitely won't like "Nigga stole my bike", for example.

Basically all these people are going to come out of the woodwork, claiming that YTMND infringes upon their copyrights and/or slanders their good names.

Websense et al, will find out about it and then I can't surf YTMND when I'm at work (even though I'm not supposed to anyway), much like I can't read Maddox.

Parental groups will start a crusade against the site because of the occasional shocking and pornographic YTMNDs.

Indeed they are. But I made the music choice for these reasons:

1) It sounded funnier. "Fearsome Blood Elves" with Pulp Fiction just doesn't have the same comedic twist as "Fearsome Blood Elves" with Chubby Checker and the Fat Boys
2) I didn't have any Pulp Fiction music readily available
3) I didn't expect it to take off and hit 150,000 views like that. I thought http://jimcarreyfacialexpressions.ytmnd.com/ would have done better, as it can appeal to the non-WoW player as well. But eh, I take what I can get. :)
