I can get my hands on a new Pelican Real Arcade Stick for xbox. For only 20 bucks. I'm not a tournament player or anything but I'm tired on using a joypad. DF sticks look amazing but I don't have the money for that.

Was thinking of getting a Hori stick but I want one that has xbox live headset port. I just want a good stick that I can lay on my lap and play on live. I'm planning on getting GGx2 again soon and CvS too. So I just want to play with a stick again.

Thanks everyone. Seemed like a good deal for that pelican one but it's kinda big.

:-)

Unless someone is willing of selling me a DF stick for cheap. :-) j/k

which pelican stick are you talking about, there are two different types, Gamestop sells one that is 20 bucks (I have that one and I regret buying it due to the lack of motion in the joystick), the other pelican stick that sells for 40 at gamestop looks like a stick that you would find at the arcade which I'm considering buying.

Oh by the way how did the Pelican universal stick blow out your PS2 ports because now I'm thinking twice about using it now.

The universal version of the Pelican Real Arcade Stick can blow out controller ports for the reasons explained in this thread (http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79802).

I personally don't trust Pelican, so I wouldn't recommend buying it. I think you'd be better off keeping the $20. A friend of mine and I both bought Pelican sticks around the release of Soul Calibur II on consoles. About a month after I had mine, the joystick went to shit and stopped working. A little while after that, the buttons on my friend's stick started fucking up and becoming unresponsive. Overall, they were just some really shitty sticks. $20 may seem like a good deal because it's cheap, but you get what you pay for.

The stick is the xbox Real Arcade stick. Not the little one but the wooden one. Those as well have a bad rep?

In that case I'll go for another type of stick. I would like the tekken one but that's too much. I just want a quality stick to play on xbox live. I hate playing people on friends list without a headset.

DF sticks are way outta my league money wise. Any suggestions? I hope so, the xbox pad is killing me. :-(

What about X-arcade sticks, do they do the same problem? I'm thinking that I may just end up throwing my cheap 20 dollar universal pelican stick in the garbage since neither gamestop, game crazy, or ebgames buy back joysticks.

The problem with the ps2 ports will come up only if you use the stick on more than one system. If you're all Xbox or all PS2 you should be fine. I've modded a ton for ps2 buddies and haven't had a problem yet.

I have a universal stick that I got almost a year ago and I haven't had any problems. I modded it with happ parts. It works fine on my PS2, XBOX, and my DC with a converter.

happened to me,, played SF on the Xbox,, then wanted to play VF4E on PS2... then all the sudden,, it didn't work anymore

normal controllers still work on my PS2, but the rumble is dead

so if you get this for Xbox, make sure you use only for Xbox

Maybe the SFAC joystick? I don't know where you could find one, but those aren't really too expensive (cept on eBay). And it's easily moddable (is that a word?).

i suggest just building ur own...

Buy a box from one of the guys. Buy a PCB, 1 stick and 8 buttons. Make sure they use quick disconnects when making the PCB so u dont have to solder. Then its just about 30 minuets work to get it all set up.. not even. the parts will run u about 30$ and the box about 20... but its worth it knowing you wont have any problems. When playing fighting games, u relly dont need to talk to others while ur playing, it shows sorta like ur destracting them... which COULD lead to people beleiveing you have not as much skill as you really do.

I would recommend the universal arcade stick by pelican, if you are going to use it on the xbox. First thing I would (which I am going to do to mine) is install Happ competition buttons and comptetition stick. I am waiting for the parts to get here.

Is it really that easy to make a stick? I'm not totally sure on how to make one. The no solder thing looks great. I'm sure has been asked before.....where can I find the parts to make a stick? A premade box and the stuff for a no solder build.

Thanks all. If I can do it on my own (Be nice to get a good stick for cheap) I'll love to give it a try.

Well I just finished my Pelican RAS, last night and all I can say is for around $ 77.00 total for the Pelican and Happ Competition Buttons and Stick = Fighting Game Heaven. Pelican at Software ETC, 43.00 after tax and 11 Competition Buttons and 1 Black Competition stick w/ shipping $34 plus the time to install is worth it too me.

its easy to make sticks, the hard part is the box, im sure any builder will agree, depending on your wood shop tools, some people might have it easier, but the assembly and wiring is piece of cake
