Steve Dillon is doing the pencils and I love it so far, oh yeah and its under MAX so they were free to throw around racial slurs and the violence.

Read a couple of Powers books tonight. They were Powers #4-6. Wow. This ins one gritty comic book. I've honestly never seen or read ANYTHING like it. No expletive is left out of the book. It's a dark and edgey comic and Bendis does a great job of bringing the cop/thug atmosphere to life with his dialogue even if everyone does cuss like a drunken sailor every 2 seconds. I also like Oeming's art work for this book. The style fits perfectly. I hope he stays with it. That said, while I like Powers, I'm just not used to this sort of comic. Again, I've honestly never seen or read anything like it. Not that that's a bad thing. It's just so, well, wow.
I picke dup Young Avengers #1 today. I had to drop $4.95 for that sucker! These books seem to have just started and already the first issue has doubled in value. I was going to get YA #2 but I thought I'd check out YA #1 first to see what I thought of it.
Also picked up House of M #6. They seem to be getting more and more heroes in. Now Spidey knows that reality has been messed up. I still say Mags is the one behind it all. After all, the "M" in HoM stands for Magnus.

Damn I just picked up some back issues of the new avengers, the rann-thannawhatever war, a fantastic 4 marvel knights book, and some ultimates 2. I might pick up 100 bullets as well. But im being haunted by the house of M. I have NO IDEA what its about and ive seen other comics have the "house of M" symbol on them. I don't want to get a bunch of other comics that tie into it and stuff. Is house of M worth picking up???

i love frank miller's batman. so i read jla 117, and damn, looks like the jla have their work cut out for them in the next issue. rann/thanagar is still the weakest of the IC lead ins
for the record, Joe Mad doing The Ultimates, makes me cream my pants. And the new ghost rider kicks ultra ass.

Anyone that has not checked out House of M needs to do so NOW. It is demanded reading for anyone and everyone.
I just read Young Avengers #1 last night. The front cover said "They're not what you think..." Man, that line couldn't have been any more correct. I liked how they are teenagers and make mistakes. Since these guys are new at this they NEED to have screw-ups. The art was great and it was well written. Now I must get issues 2 and 3.
I also read New Avengers #1. Fantastic artwork and Bendis' dialogue was on the mark as always. I think Spidey and Wolverine are going to be fine additions to the team. Too bad I wasn't able to get issue #2. I have #1 and #'s 3-9 but I just couldn't get #2. SCREW!!!
BTW does everyone basically new Matt Murdock is DD now?

Matt got outed in his series a while ago, he still denies it I think but practically everyone knows or suspects his shit. The new arc in DD might reverse it or confirm it for the world, there is just no telling so far.
Which just makes me hope to heaven more that he doesn't turn out to be Ronin. Not that I care for the fake looking ninja anyway.

First....
Why does the blur have to be black.............I know we have been the fastest people in last few olympics but on a strictly subliminal level, Im offended. j/k :p
-Is this a mini series and how long has it been out?
-I love how batman is a partial racsict, just seems to be more realistic. Do they ever go into his back story of how he trained and what his pops is doing?
- SideBar......Batman origin stories always bother me.....If the fam is so rich why the hell are they walkin down some back alley or some isolated dirt road in the south. Nigga catch, a cab get a bus, rent a limo, gets some protection.
-Hyperion back story seems so much more interesting than the original Supes. Im thinkin the movie should take this slant.
-Who the hell are they going to be fighting. And realisticly if America had this much power under its finger world gov't would be going crazy to try and make their own shit. Im wondering how the story will handle this.
:Im just really excited on where they are going to take this story.

elhandro, I think u will spoil ureself by getting responses as to what happens later in the series. It is a great read and all of ure answers will get answered, u just have to read them all.
I didnt like the Nighthawk issue...although I can see that it was done solely to set up a "joker" like enemy for the heroe. I just hope he doesnt look like a clown. Also I see no link whatsoever between that issue and the latest supreme powers issue. but thats ok, its not like i havent been had before. Hopefully the first issue of Hyperion actually follows the unfolded latest events of the main series.

I'm kinda enjoying Supreme Power. But in the back of my mind It bothers me. I know people create characters in others image all the time, but Squadron Supreme is just blatant. One of the reasons I enjoy Marvel is the orginality and contrast to DC.
But it's here to stay for a while so I might as well read it.
Besides that, I'm liking the books.
NightHawk is easily the tightest character with the most interesting style and personality.
A Black Batman. That alone one me over. Then I got to see what kind of cat he really is. One of the best comic personalties ever.

They really wont be fighting. They will form a superteam and then try to take over all the ruling goverments of the world. They are gonna form a police state. The people they will attack will be everyday people. They will take away their personal rights. They want to create a utiopia and in order to do that they will take away personal freedoms. At first the whole team will be down with this but after a while some will realize that what they are doing is wrong and form there own fraction that will try and take them down. This has all been done before. Read the original Sqaudron supreme trade. Its pretty much a kindom come/ watchmen type story. Who watches the watchmen.

Read some more of new New Avengers comics. This has got to be one of the best comic books I've ever read. Brian Bendis writers each character prefectly. Wolverine sounds like Wolverine and Spidey sounds like Spidey (not too surprising when he's been writing the Ultimate Web-head for years now. 616 Spidey is probably like a walk in the park for him.) I know many fans of the old Avengers are probably boiling mad that Bendis killed off The Vison, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye (R.I.P. old Avengers), but the new team is just too tight. And Luke Cage is one bad mother. I still can't believe this is the same Luke cage from Amazing Spider-Man #123. And Spider-Woman. Man, she is FINE!! If Million saw her he'd lose it.
And the Sentry story arc is really keeping me interested. I'd never even heard of him until now. But he's supposed to be the most powerful super hero? Even more so than Captain Universe? :wow:
And I pray to God that Bendis keeps Hawkeye, Ant-Man and Vison dead. We all saw them get killed. No way he can cook up some bull crap like countless other comic book writers have.

No, Vision is coming back. Hawkeye's already back running around in HoM. But no one knows if he'll stay alive or be dead when HoM is over. The only one who'll probably stay dead is Ant-man.
Vision and Hawkeye are probably too popular to just kill off and leave dead.
I don't know if Sentry is more powerful than Captain Universe. Marvel's been hyping him calling him Marvel's strongest hero, but who knows.
Isn't Captain Universe a power that people can get ahold of in times of crisis?

I think the Sentry storyline needs to end already. Its kind of dragging on and really not leading into any new territory. I say get that over with and finally get Daredevil on the damn team already.
And Bendis will bring back Hawkeye and Vision. Those two are essential to the Avengers. Hell......its the only real job those two have. Also, if Hawkeye is alive in House of M then that means hes alive in regular Marvel contuinity. He remembers everything that happened. So if he were a part of this created universe then he would have never remembered what happened to him the day he died and when Scarlet Witch snapped. Now to reverse the process? Thats a hard one.

Well I just finished readin New Avengers #9. I'm very confused. And the only way I'll probably get unconfused is when the Sentry story is resolved. But apparently, Paul Jenkins did do the Sentry years ago. And on top of that, Paul Jenkins will be doing a new Sentry series with John Romita Jr. real soon.
As for the deaths of Hawkeye and Vision, I honestly believe Bendis needs to keep. Them. Dead. Seriously. I'm not doubting or denying their popularity or anything but by bringing them back this will completely undermine the incredible shocks that happend in Avengers #500-503. It'll be like "Oh, they weren't really dead. We were just screwin' with ya! Ha ha!! Got ya!! Suckers!!" And once again the comic book writer power of the all mighty bend-over-and-see-how-far-we-can-dig-up-our-butts-to-come-up-with-
a-way-for-this-popular-character-we-offed-to-come-back will prevail. Next thing you know, they'll start screwing with the Chaos story even more, saying that it really wasn't Scarlet Witch that went beserk on The Avengers but it was a robot/clone (read: whatever bullcrap we can pull out from our butts nonsense.)
OK, I guess I can see Vision coming back since he was a highly advanced andriod but Hawkeye? I mean, even the way he died was heroic. He sacrificed himself. To undo that would just... Ugh. Well I guess I'm in the minority. But for what he did, Hawkeye will have my ultimate respect. *salutes*
I remember hearing how Aunt May died back in Amazing Spidey #400. Then years later Marvel is like "OH NO!! WE F'ED THINGS UP BY HAVING AUNT MAY DIE!! WE GOTTA BRING HER BACK!! I know, it wasn't Aunt May who died!! It was an actress that Norman Osborn hired! Aunt May was really being held captive by the Goblin!! That's it!!" LAME!! On the other hand, the excellent vol. 2 of Amazing Spidey #38 wouldn't have been possible without May being alive. I love Aunt May but the way Marvel brought her back was just stupid.
OK, sorry for the long post but just one more thing. What happend to Jean Grey? I haven't seen her in HoM. And why are we seeing a lot of Emma Frost? Not a bad thing at all but I just wonder what's going on? I haven't picked up an X-Men book in years.

ReggieHadoken: Let me help you out here since you seemed to be confused by the Sentry.
MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS
Sentry was around before the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Hulk. That's his story anyway. Reason for this is because everyone forgot he existed, even Stan Lee himself. Why? Because he also has a dark side to himself called the Void. Sentry is like Pre-Crisis Superman, except not gay. His weakness is the Void. The Void is his fears, doubts and various mental problems in a physical form. To keep the Void from coming back to destroy the Earth, Richards fixed it so that we would forget Sentry ever existed, like a worldwide brainwash.
However, it didn't quite work out well, and Bob Reynolds, AKA Sentry, sometimes gets flashbacks of his superhero life, which ultimately brings back the Void. However, Emma Frost dives into Bob's mind to find out that someone tampered with his mind. Yes, the Void was his fears and doubts, but Sentry never created him, as he so thought. Some yet to be revealed bad guy used Mastermind to program the Void into Sentry's mind.

Co-sign on the art it was kinda shitty, I liked how they had him in the Venom Vs Carnage limted series. That was hella tight with the black tounge, say you know what though the writer I think purposly named the new smybiote's host as his intials and made his name sound alike. I mean if you really think about it, pete milligan and toxin's host name is pat mulligan...LMAO. I thought that was kinda stupid though IMO.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Marvel is doing a 12 part Spider-Man story that will span all three Spidey books, the third book being the new "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man." A 12 part story arc. Ugh. Does anyone remember what happend the last time Marvel did a Spidey story arc that was on the same number of books? I beleive it was called Maximum Carnage. I didn't read all of it, but I heard the story did nothing but run in circiles and was probably an attempt to cash in on the very popular villian (at the time, anyway), Carnage. And it's a cross over. I freaking HATE crossovers because they interfear with the continutity of the book. I love Stracynizki's work but he better cook up one heck of a story to impress me and not 4 months of bull crap.
I agree. I actually collected all 14 parts of Maximum Carnage and it basically boiled down to find Carnage, fight carnage, carnage gets away, rinse and repeat. It was not a very good read.
I'm hoping "the other: evolve or die" will be better than this. It's not all straczynski though. Straczyski is writing 1/3 of the story. Peter David and Reginald Hudlin will be writing the other 2/3 of the story. Artists will be Deodato on Amazing, Pat Lee on Marvel knights and Wieringo on Friendly neighborhood.
I decided to drop Superman/batman and Young Avengers.
In terms of ongoings I'm collecting Amazing spidey, marvel knights spidey, new avengers, astonishing x-men (on hiatus for 6 months I think), supreme power (on hiatus for 6 monthS. I ain't collecting the hyperion/nighthawk/drspectrum mini series), Supergirl, Soulfire, and Street Fighter (comes back on next month). I'm also collecting JLA but only for the Geoff Johns/Allan Heinberg arc which ends next issue.
For miniseries I'm reading Secret war (ends next month FINALLY), House of M, and Justice. Also picking up the trades to Darkstalkers and Y the Last Man (highly recommended).
Definitely gonna pick up friendly neighborhood spider-man and Infinite crisis once they get going.
I was never a big fan of the ultimate/all star line.

If he really had a heroic death that would be one thing. He had a pointless death. His quiver is hit so itstead of ditching it he beats upa a Kree warrior, takes his ship, flies it into the center of the ship, blows it up.... then it disappears and no debris is left because it was an illusion. Hunh? He has time to do all that but can't pull off the quiver? Dies fighting an illusion that disappears? That is retarded. It is also a fact he is coming back. When She-Hulk relaunches next month the first 2 issues center around his return.

No, no sarcasm this time. I kinda thought you guys were being sarcastic actually, since the IMPOSTER idea has been done so many times and so recently that I thought that they couldn't possibly do it again.
But Marvel continues to keep the surprises coming!
I will laugh my ass off if the "purpose" of House of M was to recon Planet X. Morrison's run ended like a year (?) ago, and it's pretty much completely faded away from public consciousness, especially since Marvel did everything it could to erase our memories of it ever happening. (ie. re-introducing the spandex costumes)
So crappifying their biggest series of the year for the purpose of addressing a continuity error that no one really cares about or remembers...I don't know, just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
But who am I to argue with the house of ideas?
I'm enjoying House of M, though. The art is really nice. New Avengers too.

I'm convinced that it's not Frank Miller writing All Stars Batman & Robin. It's an IMPOSTER. Bendis is writing it. There's no other way I can explain the ridiciulously slow moving plot and the pages of tiny panels where the characters talk about nothing.
What the fuck has happened in two entire issues?
- Dick Grayson's parents are killed.
- Dick Grayson is rescued by Batman.
- And one page where Dick Grayson agrees to become Robin while they are still in the Batmobile.
And the pages of tiny panels where the characters talk a lot but don't say anything reeks of Bendis. Except the panels don't look like they were all copy and pasted. Why would you write pages with tiny panels for an artist like Jim Lee? Is it because they wasted too many pages on the big two page splashes and they need to cram as much plot into the following pages?

SURRENDER? SURRENDER?!? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE A ON MY FOREHEAD STANDS FOR, FRANCE!?!
It's odd - the more I read that line, the less cool it gets. It's really not witty or funny at all, now that I think about it. I don't know if it's a Canadian thing or whatever, but it was like the precise moment he said that line, it officially became too late to make fun of France. Haha, yes, freedom fries and all that, hi-larious, yes. For like the first two days. But that's it!
Gotta admit, I thought the first volume of Ultimates was awesome stuff - like the first couple stories of The Authority. Bryan Hitch probably helped that a lot. Really, really entertaining book. Art was amazing, the action was ridiculous (especially for a non-mature book), and the book was still fresh and good.
But then stuff stopped happening. And then we had to learn about how every character is a pretentious asshole.
Iron Man: So while I was reading these fifteen books at the same time and getting a handjob from Paris Hilton I had this fantastic idea to cure cancer and by the way I'm an alcoholic in case you didn't notice from these martinis I'm holding every single panel oops the Hulk almost hit me fire sonics!!!
I just got so sick of Mark Millar's obssession with filling every goddamn speech bubble with a pop culture reference. It makes the story so cheap. I mean, Freddie Prince Jr.? ...from She's All That? Wing Commander? Summer Catch? What the fuck, man!?! Half of this book won't make any sense two years from now, because none of the pop culture references are going to survive.
This book is just so...summer blockbustery. Not the good ones either. Not like Commando, Die Hard, or Bad Boys - no, there's no wit. I'm talking like high budget, soulless productions like...Stealth, Van Helsing (though I personally loved this movie for the wrong reasons), any movie with Dennis Rodman...stuff like that.
Skinny white kids that blast rap out of their mother's Caravan, Red Sox fans that aren't from Boston, people who choose Ryu/Ken/Akuma in MvC2...that's what this book feels like now.
I hate this book so much. And I hate myself for supporting it by buying it every month, even with it's half a year late.
EDIT: Astonishing X-Men is fantastic.

haha yeah i feel the same way about that Cap line in Ultimates, but I think that's why Millar was perfect for this book, because sometimes he's just going overboard with his stories and characters and with a title like "Ultimates" that fits nicely. Although when you think about it, that Cap line was pretty out of character even for Ultimate Cap.
So from what I can tell from the previous posts regarding the X-Men comics, do they pretty much suck now? Leave it to the higher ups at Marvel to go and screw with a beautiful run. Ugh.
astonishing is good.
Saw this in Wizard. I thought it was quite funny.
An outgoing message from Aquaman as heard by Chris Ward
Wizard recently realized Aquaman is largely absent from the Infinite Crisis event, its tie-ins, crossovers, the whole shebang. We called his apartment to find out why, but got his machine...
Greetings! You've reached Aquaman, world-renowned superhero and king o' the ocean - all 328,000,000 cubic miles of it folks. I can't take your call right now because I'm sleeping with the fishes. Ha, that's my little joke. I'm actually not sleeping much these days, because I spend every painful minute trying to build a new society and help its people survive against impossible odds in San Diego - which, as you might have read on page 5 of the Daily Planet - SANK INTO THE DAMN OCEAN.
Yep. We're still down here, DC.
Oh, I'm vaguely aware there's something involving "identity mindwipes" up topside, and that every cape on Earth is investigating the death of some C-level hero. Boo-friggin'-hoo -cry me an Atlantic Ocean. Have fun with your Crisis, while I continue keeping an entire population from collapsing into anarchy and death.
No, I'm not bitter that OMACs don't even bother to target me (that's sarcasm, blowfish-for-brains), but here I am, an orginal JLA member, and I wasn't even invited to vote on Batman's mindwipe. It would be nice just once to be asked, that's all I'm saying.
And what do I see today, but the cover to Green Lantern #5 where he's fighting the new Shark! Dammit, DC - why is GL fighting a fish villain instead of me?!? What am I, regurgitated kelp? At least I'm in the upcoming Justice League of America video game or I'd be... WHAT?!? REPLACED BY ZATANNA?!? Great, they swapped ME for someone who can talk to FISHNETS. Well, I've got a spell for her: "ETIB EM, ANNATAZ."
I... I'm sorry. That was uncalled for. I'll just be down here... and, so ... please leave a message.
BEEP!

An Open Letter
From the Desk of Captain America
To: Wendell "Quasar" Vaughn
Re: New Avengers Roster Application
Thank you for your continued interest in joining the newly restructured Avengers. We've received all your letters and may I quickly remind you that, while your unbridled "En-Q-siasim" for the job (as you put it) is appreciated, only one (1) application was necessary.
I'll just come out and say it: We've filled our roster, and we just don't see Quasar as part of the big picture. I'm "Qua-sorry" to break the news! Ha ha, "LOL."
Seriously though, you didn't make the team.
Your proposed five-point plan to improve the Avengers involved outfitting everyone with sizable "man-gauntlets" and rebuilding the Avengers mansion on your home-away-from-home Uranus. While we all agree Uranus is lovely, a further probe reveals it is simply too small for what the new Avengers have planned.
Here's a "Q-Tip" for you from your ol' buddy Cap - don't think of this as a rejection, but as an opportunity to continue your impressive tenure as the appointed "Protector of the Universe." Go get 'em, champ.

Picked up New Avengers and Supergirl today.
Supergirl was okay. Art by Ian Churchill is good. The story was sort of a crossover with something that happened in Teen Titans and I'm not reading that book so that kind of sucks. There's no recap, no nothing. Also, the writing ain't too great either. Supergirl and the Teen Titans were acting like 8 year olds.
New Avengers concluded the Sentry Arc. Basically a Bendis style issue. All Dialogue. If it weren't for Steve McNiven's artwork, the conclusion would have been pretty lame.
According to Diamondcomics, new avengers ships next week. This one begins the Ronin arc, with David Finch as the artist. JLA conclusion to the crisis of conscience arc also ships.

*SPOILERS*
From solicits for IC #3 The Specter apparently targets Alantis so expect Aquaman to play a part there.
Although you got to wonder if they will keep him around or kill him for shock value like it looks like they might kill Power Girl to emulate Super Girl's Crisis death.
Also I am betting a whole QUARTER that Quicksilver turns into a villian at the end of House of M and/or his mini Son of M. I don't know if he is behind everything, but I bet that he isn't going to be on the hero roster after it all comes down.
**END SPOILERS**
And as a huge Marvel fan, yes IC is looking like it will shit all over House of M. But to slightly defend Marvel, IC is looking like what Bendis should have and was trying or thinking about doing with Avengers Disassembled. Tons of shit happens at once, relationships break apart and people die, it is just given more time (for better or for worst on your wallet) to develop.

So New Avengers #10 is already out? Cool. I get paid tomorrow so I'll head to my comic shop and pick it up along with some Amazing Spider-Man comics. Leave it to Bendis to get me to pick up a book I've never even thought of reading before. Maybe I'll check out some classics Avengers through Marvel's Essential books.
Speaking of Essential, I'm reading Essential Amazing Spider-Man vol. 6. Dispite Gil Kane's inconsistent artwork, this is some really good stuff. The Man-Wolf story arc rocked and I can't wait to read about Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin.
Aiight, so I finally read Identity Crisis. Now I gotta start reading other shit. When does batman figure all this shit out, and what should I pick up that relates to this?
The current JLA arc is dealing with the Batman situation. The conclusion comes out next week... just in time for infinite crisis.

And I disagree with both of you. Infinite Crisis caters to action, nothing more. All of DC's lead ups are miniseries of fights with a bunch of characters that get seen once every other year. Day of Vengeance anyone? Rann-Thanagar war? Marvel's stories focus on the development of mainstream chars that you're already familiar with. In terms of writing and characterization, you now know shitloads more about the House of M chars than you do about the IC chars. House of M is more personal IMO.

I'm a little confused by both IC and HoM at this point, having stuck with mostly just the core stories. But it seems that IC makes it seem like the DC Universe is huge, and HoM makes it seem like that the Marvel universe would fit into a closet in the DC world... I'll be interested in seeing how things end up once they start hitting trades. =\
Supreme Power: Hyperion #1 wasn't bad, actually. Now he's got the entire JLA analogues in place... and here come the potential villains. One parallel was obvious, but I'm not sure who all of the 'villains' (government employed supers) map to. It seems that there's a mixture of DC/Marvel 'borrows'. I don't know. Another thing that looks like it'll be most interesting in trades... ?
I'm a fan of Run-aways too... probably another thing I'll just be picking up trades for, though.
You can preorder "Ultimate Watchmen" from amazon.com now. I haven't heard anything about what's in it. My deluxe leather Watchmen had ~42 pages of bonus materials... maybe they're just going to be reprinting those?

I agree with RandomNigga here. The tradeoff for the feeling that Crisis provides- the sense of a huge shared universe- is that every single DC comic ends up being a prelude of sorts to the actual Infinite Crisis miniseries. It obviously doesn't bother most people, but it really bothers me that a book like Adam Strange, which started out so promisingly, ended up being an 8-issue prelude to a 6 issue Rann/Thanagar War, which in turn is a prologue for the actual Infinite Crisis, which itself is a lead-in to DC's weekly comic series 52. I don't have an unlimited budget so I can't follow the entire story, so it's just easier for me to stop reading DC altogether.
Incidentally, that's a very cool avatar you have, Pained Auron.

Picked up a bunch of comix today. New Avengers, JLA, AMS, young avengers and superman/batman.
New avengers introduced the Ronin character. Unfortunately they don't tell you who he is. He's not Matt Murdock and he's got black hair. Artwork by Finch was better this time around compared to the breakout storyline.
JLA was great. Huge cliffhanger that leads directly into infinite crisis #1. I won't ruin it, but I really want to know what happens to ____ after the last page.
AMS was basically a wrap-up of the hydra arc and a setup for The Other. Tony Stark flexes his negotiating muscle in this one. Pretty good, but this whole arc felt a bit long. Can't wait for the other: evole or die to start.
I said I was gonna stop Young avengers and Superman/batman, but I had the extra cash so I decided to pick em up. I haven't read em yet, but I'll post later.

Well, yeah, but that was RN's point. Sure, in the combined solo books/tie-ins there's a wide range of characters you see who're affected by House of M, but it's more emotional, if less grandiose, than the Infinite Crisis lead-ins. House of M Spider-Man was some of the best shit I've read so far this year, as is the main House of M book.
Of course, I love Day of Vengance and Villians United, and I like Omac Project, but except for Villians United (and the JSA Unlimited Power Girl arc, I like that), it's not really pulling my heart in. Superman and Batman are douches on a colossal scale which threatens the fabric of the universe, we know.

new avengers was good, just a basic set-up to the whole Ronin arc, I'm not too fond of his look, i reminds me so much of the turtles, I mean look at that cover page, it looks like he embodies all 4 turtles. weiirdd. costume..

I'm really getting into Young Avengers. Issue #1 started off a bit slow but they kicked it into high gear in YA #2 and it's been going strong ever since. I can't wait to pick up YA #6 tomorrow and see how the Sidekicks story ends. They went from a 4-person team to a 6-person team real fast. But when I finished, YA#5, it looks like they could go down to a 5-person team. And I'm calling it right now: Patriot and Kate are gonna hook up. Oh and Ant-Man's daughter Cassie owns him for the simple fact that she can grow AND shrink.
As for New Avengers, I just finished the Sentry story arc and it was quiet good. No climatic fight to the finish, no one shouting "THIS IS IT!! HIT 'EM WITH EVERYTHING YA GOT!!" Nope, none of that good stuff. Just lots of talking about how to fix things. Bendis is a freaking genius.
This upcoming 12-part Spider-Man story "The Other" sounds like it will be quite the doozy. And since it's gonna last for 4 months, there better not be a single dull moment. This will be my first time reading some of Peter David's work.
Granted House of M connects on a more personal/emotional level than Infinite Crisis. But DC isn't trying to go that way. They've already had the emotional/personal story with Identity Crisis. Now they're going for something on a grander scale.
Wizard had a rundown on the DC characters and what they've been doing this past few months. I found it quite useful since I only bought countdown to infinite crisis, prelude to infinite crisis, and the JLA crisis of conscience arc and have no idea what a lot of the other characters are doing. I'll only do the heroes today. There's spoilers so don't read if you don't wanna know.
The Heroes
Superman: The leader of the now-disbanded Justice League ran amok while mind-controlled by telepathic Checkmate head and OMAC Project founder Max Lord, nearly killing teammmate Batman. Though Wonder Woman killed Lord to save Superman, the Kryptonian is deeply disappointed with the Amazon for her actions. "Superman's devastated that the League hasn't held together, and he wants desperately to fix that," says Infinite Crisis writer Geoff Johns. Superman also bears the knowledge that, according to Mr. Mxyzptlk, all that will happen is rooted in his love for his wife, Lois Lane.
Wonder Woman: Embracing her roots as an Amazon warrior, Diana has recently adopted a no-nonsense attitude that disturbs many of her fellow heroes, especially Superman. It was she who broke Max Lord's neck, freeing Superman from his mental control but also freeing the Brother Eye satellite to become sentient and unleash the OMACs at will. Brother Eye also broadcasted the killing worldwide.
Batman: The Dark Knight's objection to his JLA colleagues' mindwiping of the villainous Dr. Light led to his own memory being tampered with by the team. After figuring out what happened years later, Batman used pirated Kord Industries technology to create Brother Eye, a satellite system used to spy on the Earth's metahumans. But billionaire Max Lord secretly stole the Brother Eye tech away from Batman and used it to create the lethal OMACs.
Green Lantern: Killed after becoming the villain Parallax, Hal Jordan became the host of the Spectre, the Spirit of Vengeance. After discovering that Parallax was actually a cosmic fear entity that posessed him, Jordan seperated from the Spectre (leaving it hostless and vulnerable), defeated Parallax and became Green Lantern once again, serving as a go-between for the rival factions of the JLA.
The Flash: Wally West battled many of the formerly mind-wiped rogues whose true villanous natures were being unlocked by old rogue the Top. With newborn twins to care for and his nemesis Zoom a member of Lex Luthor's criminal Society, Flash has major threats to deal with.
Superboy: Cloned from the DNA of both Superman and Lex Luthor, Connor Kent is actually Luthor's long-hidden secret weapon. Acting under Luthor's mind control, he attacked his Teen Titan teammates alongside the Outsiders' Indigo, secretly a Brainiac cyborg. Kent eventually broke free of Luthor's programming, but, horrified at his own actions, he quit the Titans and is currently hiding out with Superman's parents in Smallville.
Robin: Tim Drake's life is in turmoil. He was orphaned by the original Captain Boomerang, his girlfriend Spoiler was slain by Black Mask during Gotham City's recent gang war, his teammate Superboy went berserk at the prompting of Lex Luthor, his mentor Batman has grown distant and cold, and he has moved to Bludhaven, the home turf of Nightwing.
Nightwing: Dick Grayson quit the leadership of his team the Outsiders after its cybernetic member Indigo was revealed to be under the control of Brainiac. Since then he aided former Titan Donna Troy in breaking free of the Titans of Myth, and has adopted a villainous persona in an attempt to infiltrate the criminal organization of DEathstroke, the Society co-founder who was the Outsiders' puppet master.
Donna Troy: Slain during a battle with a rogue Superman robot, Troia was reincarnated in the faraway world of the Titans of Myth, who utilized the Rann/Thanagar War as an excuse to plunder the planet Minossys for their own sinister ends. Freed of the Titans' dominion, Donna Troy has assumed a harbringer mantle of sorts, linked inescapably to the Cris to come.
Hawkman: Hawkman has been at the center of several violent confrontations: battling first Black Adam and then the Spectre to protect the nation of Kahndaq; joining Adam Strange to put an end to the Rann/Thanagar War, in which his ally Hawkwoman was killed; tangling with Batman over the justness of the JLA mindwipes; and surviving his own near-death at the talons of the Manhawks.
Captain Marvel: The World's Mightiest Mortal and member of the JSA battled the Spectre to a standstill after the Shadowpact (Blue Devil, the Enchantress, Nightshade, Nightmaster, Ragman, Black Alice and Detective Chimp) helped strengthen him with the power of millions of magic users. This was not enough to stop the Spectre from killing the Wizard Shazam, or to prevent fellow bearer of Shazam's power Black Adam from joining Lex Luthor's Society.
Zatanna: This powerful sorceress was a JLA rookie when a group of her teammates convinced her to use her magic to mindwipe various villains in order to erase their knowledge of the heroes identities. The group also chose to wipe Batman's mind clean of his discovery of their actions, and Zatanna desperately sought forgiveness for this act. She performed one final mindwipe on the Secret Society of Super-Villains, whose original mindwipes had been undone by Despero.
Blue Beetle: Investigating his company's looted warehouses, Ted Kord unearthed the involvement of Checkmate, the shadowy counter-metahuman spy agency run by Beetle's former Justice League paymaster Max Lord. Lord killed the Beetle and put the OMAC Project into motion. Meanwhile Beetle's magical scarab fell in the hands of the Wizard Shazam - at least until he was killed.
Martian Manhunter: J'onn J'onzz served a vital role as the JLA's telepathic communications link between its members during the series of disasters currently plaguing the team. Narrowly surviving a battle with the powerful alien Despero, Manhunter was attempting to reform the JLA when a person whom the JLA watchtower's sensor indicated to be Superman attacked him, destroying the Watchtower itself in the process.
Green Arrow: Greatly regretting his involvement in the JLA's mindwipes, GReen Arrow has been involved in several grudge matches with villains who've learned of the team's actions, including Society co-founder DEathstroke and the un-mindwiped Dr. Light, who captured and nearly killed the Emerald Archer.
Booster Gold: The only one of Blue Beetle's former Justice League teammates to come to his aid during his fatal final case, Gold narrowly escaped a murder attempt himself. He helped lead the heroes' efforts to shut down the OMAC Project, insisting that the JLA's "big guns" let him and his second-string squad handle it their own way.
Power Girl: A super-strong JSA member with powers of an undertermined nature 0 in the past, they've been suspected to be Kryptonian or magical in nature - Power Girl has been plagued by bizarre hallucinations and haunted by her mysterious past. The secret of her origin, said to be tied directly to the oncoming Crisis, will be revelaed in October's JSA Classified #4.
Manhunter: During a recent conflict with the OMACs, Kate Price learned that the rogue government program known as the Manhutner Protocols, which created her cybernetically enhanced suit, helped lay the groundwork for the nanotech virus used by the OMAC Project itself.
Firestorm: Young Jason Rusch was seized by Lex Luthor's Society of villains and used as a living power battery in a South American facility apparently designed to mind-wipe all of Earth's heroes. Firestorm was freed during an assault on the facility by the Secret Six, but became a prime target for the OMACs.
Sasha Bordeaux: Bruce Wayne's one-time bodyguard, Bordeaux joined Checkmate as Black King Max Lord's Black Knight. Horrified by Lord's murder of Blue Beetle and assaults on other methaumans through the OMACs, she leaked information of Lrod's activities to Batman and was attacked by OMACs in retaliation - only to reveal biomechanical enhancements of her own, which enabled her to help temporarily defeat the OMACs worldwide.
Catwoman: The famed burglar/vigilante was caught up in the conflict between the JLA and the un-mindwiped Secret Society of Super-Villains led by Despero. The conflict revealed that her status as an on-again, off-again heroine and romantic interest for Batman may have been a result of her own mind-wipe by the JLA, back when she herself was a Secret Society member.
Anyhow, I'll type up the villains stuff later.
Wizard's brief rundown on the villains leading up to Infinite Crisis:
Lex Luthor: Driven from the presidency and to the brink of madness by Superman and Batman, Luthor returned to form the Society, a united organization of criminals bent on ridding the world of superheroes in retribution for everything they've done to the villain community - including the JLA mindwipes. He's also known to don his battlesuit and join the fray himself, as when he helped Superboy (under Luthor's mind control) attack the Teen Titans. "Lex's motivations are going to throw a lot of people for a loop in October," says Johns.
Deathstroke: One of the six members of the Society's inner circle, assassin Slade Wilson is this core group's primary muscle. Having battled the JLA to a standstill when the group suspecte dDr. Light of Sue Dibny's murder, Deathstroke later rescued Light from the TEen Titans and played an integral part in convincing the Society that the JLA mindwipes were a threat to them all. Posing as Batman, he also used the Outsiders to take down threats to the Society as the group formed.
Black Adam: A founding member of the Society, Teth-Adam had a violent falling out with his former team the JSA when he installed himself as leader of the nation of Kahndaq. Though he and the JSA later defended Kahndaq against the rampagin Spectre, Adam has nevertheless embraced the Society's ends-justify-the-means vision of a world without superheroes.
The Society - Inner Circle: In addition to Luthor, Deathstorke, and Black Adam, the founding six-member core of the Society includes Talia al Ghul, who killed her father Ra's to take control of his underworld empire; Calculator, the mastermind who serves as informational clearinghouse for the villains; and Dr. Psycho the diminutive telpath whose talents help persuade reluctant villains to unite.
Dr. Light: After sexually assaulting Sue Diby, Light was reduced to a pathetic shadow of his former villainy by a JLA mindwipe. Having recently regained his memory and become a world-class threat once more, Light has pursued violent vegenace against both the League (particularly GReen Arrow) and its apprentices in the Teen Titans. According to Johns, Light himself "is joining an elite squad of field soldiers that will start implementing Luthor's plan."
Zoom: Believing that his evil actions will make Flash and his colleagues into better heroes, the Reverse Flash - a.k.a. Dr. Hunter Zolomon - weathered the Rogue War between rival Keystone City criminal factions and has been persuaded to join the Society.
Cheetah: The animalistic Dr Barbara Minerva joined the Society at the invitation of Dr. Psycho. Learning how to increase her speed from Zoom, she has participated ins everal vicious assaults against the superhero community, including an almost fatal one against the Flash and Wonder Woman.
Sinestro: Once a great Green Lanter, this vicious villain recently revealed that it was he who freed the fear entity Parallax from the GReen Lantern Source Battery, enabling it to possess Hal Jordan. Thought killed by Jordan, hew as restored to life by Parallax and aided in its battle against Jordan and the Spectre. Defeated, he has since joined the Society.
Bizarro: The dumb, dangerous and dark mirror image of Superman has returned amidst the chaos of the Rann/Thanagar War, the OMAC onslaught and the Spectre's attacks to join up with the united villains of Lex Luthor's Society. His incredible strength and savagery make him one of the Society's big guns.
Psycho-Pirate: With the ability to control the emotions of others, Psycho-Pirate is the only person in the univese to remember the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the cataclysm in which the Multiverse was merged into one. "He's going to take a much more prominent role," John teases.
Brainiac: This ultra-intelligent alien android helped LUuthor and the brainwashed Superboy in their assault on the Teen Titans and Outsiders throug his "granddaughter" Brainiac 8, the secretly reprogrammed Outsider Indigo. His plan, ahtched in part to preserve his homeworld of Colu from its supposed destruction in the future by Donna Troy, appears to have failed.
The Society Soldiers: Like a Legion of Doom grown to a size beyond the heroes' worst nightmares the Societ boasts the membership of hundreds of major and minor supervillains. In addition to the inner circle, it includes the likes of Zoom, Cheetah, Solomon Grundy, the Penguin, Amazo, Dr. Light, Gorilla Grodd, Psycho-Pirate, Sinestro and countless others, making it the single strongest force on the planet.
Max Lord: This billionaire telepath assumed control of Checkmate, the counter-metahuman spy agenccy, and used his resources to steal control of the Brother Eye satellite system from Batman. Lord then created the OMACs, killer Brother Eye controlled cyborgs born from a technological virus, and murdered Blue Beetle when the hero discovered his plans. Lord was himself killed by Wonder Woman in order to free Superman from the villain's control.
Brother EYe/The Omac Project: Brother Eye was a satellite created by Batman in response to his betrayal by the JLA. But when Max Lord took control of the system, he created the OMACs, or Observational Metahuman Activity Constructs: a nanotech virus which assumes control of an infected human's body and turns the victim into a killer cyborg for howeever long is necessary to achieve its objective, then disengages, leaving the victim unaware of what he or she has done. After Lord's death, the Brother Eye satellite assumed control of the project itself and unleashed the OMACs' full fury against the heroes and villains of the DCU, killing countless metahumans, and beaming footage of Lord's death at Wonder Woman's hands across the globe.
Mockingbird: A secretive criminal mastermind who appears only in encrypted computer transmissions that may or may not be pre-recorded, Mockingbird is the only significant rival to the growing power of Lex Luthor's Society. Through a combination of threats and bribes he or she assembled the Secret Six, a group of b-list supervillains who, rather than joinin the Society, are working to destroy it. Mockingbird's identity is to be revealed in Villains United #6, on sale Oct 12.
The Secret Six: Comprised of Parademon, Cheshire, Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll and a newly commanding Catman, this small group of second-string but defiant supervillains was formed by Mockingbird to combat the Socivety. Taking their rejection personally and esperate to discover who Mockingbird really is, the Society has made the Secret Six a top target.
Eclipso/Jean Loring: Committed to Arkham Asylum following the murder of Sue Dibny in Identity Crisis, Loring was discovered by the black diamond that houses the evil mystical entity Eclipso, which merged with her. Using its newfound feminine charm, Eclipso literally seduced its eternal nemesis the Spectre into helping it wipe out all magic from the universe.
The Spectre: The Spirit of Vegeance was recently separated from its human host, Hal Jordan. Left rudderless and without direction, the Spectre was seduced by Eclipso and convinved that all magic, since it defies the laws of nature, is evil and must be destroyed. The Spectre's subsequent rampage led assaults on the Shadowpact and the JSA, and to the death of the Wizard Shazam.
Despero: A telepathic alien tyrant of almost unstoppable power, Despero un-mindwiped the Secret Society of Super Villains, a long-defunct group that had learned the JLA's secret identities and had their memories cleaned of this knowledge by Zatanna and the other pro-mindwipe Leaguers. Despero came within inches of wiping out the League before Zatanna stopped him, but the assault led to the disbandment of the team.
The Secret Society of Super-Villains: Not to be confused with Luthor's Society (though their memberships overlap somewhat), this group, consisting of the Wizard, Chronos, Star Sapphire, Felix Faust, the Floronic Man and the Matter Master, had their memories of the JLA's secret identities unlocked by Despero. They were defeated by the League and re-mindwiped by Zatanna.
The Red Hood: A psychopathic killer stalking Gotham's underworld in the guise of the Joker's one-time criminal identity, the REd Hood was revealed to be Jason Todd, the former Robin killed by the Joker andnow, somehow, restored to life. His return as a villainwas a devastatinng mental and physical blow to Batman, and has brought him into conflict with Robin as well.

Good stuff, box, thanks a bunch. I didn't even know half of that stuff.
This is why I don't like Identity Crisis, and I side with the House of M guys. I buy like six DC books every month, and I still need a fucking guide to keep up with what's happening in their MAIN BOOKS. That's ridiculous.
House of M at least has a main, central book that you can read by itself. There's other auxillary books, but you don't NEED to read them or else nothing makes sense in the main storyline.
Infinite Crisis hits shelves on October 12th and I have to wonder if all of these plot points are gonna play a part in the story. Do we really need to know all this information about all the characters before Infinite Crisis starts? I certainly hope not.

Well, I'm still glad our thread doesn't degenerate into pointless Marvel Vs. DC arguments. I think Drawn And Quarterly would win, regardless.

Some corrections to Wizards rundown. WW is not "adopting" a no-nonsense attitude. She has ALWAYS been like this post-Crisis. She has killed quite a few enemies in her series. The only difference is that Max is human and she has never killed a non-powered human before. What makes it harder for some people to accept this time around is precisely that. WW even talks about it in her book and says people had no problem with her killing Medusa because she looked like a monster.
It was shown in JSA that part of BAs motivation is to help make sure Khandaq is safe. This is a large part of why he is staying with the Society. It makes sense because otherwise he would probably just kill Dr Psycho. BA has always been more brutal in his sense of justice and Psycho is the kind of character he would view with contempt and just kill without hesitation. I would also take exception to saying BA wants a world without heroes. It is more like he does NOT view the JLA as heroes in view of the mindwiping incident. He sees them more as hypocrites. He still views the JSA as heroes and respects them. He thinks they are soft and misguided. BAs definition of heroes would be different from most.
Psycho-Pirate: With the ability to control the emotions of others, Psycho-Pirate is the only person in the univese to remember the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the cataclysm in which the Multiverse was merged into one. "He's going to take a much more prominent role," John teases.
He is not the only person to remember. Pariah also remembers and Animal Man learned the truth and now remembers. This was shown during Morrison's run on Animal Man. Johns has said Animal Man would be prominent during IC. Considering how characters like Power Girl, Pariah and Lady Quark that were prominent in CoIE are being brought back from limbo this is NOT a coincidence. Johns is well aware of Animal Man's memories of the Crisis and Morrison's run on his series.
Donna was not supposed to destroy Colu in the future. She is supposed to prevent it from taking over the Universe. Big difference. Considering that the new LSH is the definite future per Didio & Co. we know that Colu doesn't become a huge empire. Or if it does its rule doesn't last into the LSHs time.

Didn't Superman kill the three Kryptonian criminals for the same reason? Isn't that like a big thing that everyone knows? Is that just being conveniently forgotten? Or was it mentioned?
Now what was I reading this week...?
- Ultimate Fantastic Four. I like this new zombie arc by Mark Millar. And the Mad Thinker arc by Mike Carey and Jae Lee was really great too. But all the Warren Ellis stuff before that wasn't too great, which surprised me. There were 18 issues that could have been told in like 6 issues. It was a cool how they introduced him, but Annihilus does not deserve a six issue storyarc. (They didn't even have Blastaar!)
- Ultimates #8 seemed really fun too. I hope this book gets rolling again.
- I liked Young Avengers. But now that the first six issues are over and the team's been formed...I don't know, I've suddenly lost all interest in the characters.
- That new Green Lanturn Corps book is awesome. Anything Green Lanturn these days is awesome. Geoff Johns is the best - I'll let all the Infinite Crisis stuff slide and blame it on the editors. I like that one squirrel Green Lanturn. It's like the most non-threatening character ever. The only thing that would beat it would be like a Hello Kitty Green Lanturn. ...man that would be awesome. I'd buy a t-shirt or two of that.
- The new Ghost Rider mini with Garth Ennis is awesome. Who the hell is Clayton Crain and where did he come from? The art looks awesome. I like it better than Alex Ross' stuff. It reminded me of Spawn - when it first came out and how it was the coolest book ever. Cool angle to work with. Garth Ennis on Ghost Rider - 'nuff said. Check this book out!

heh, it seems Warren Ellis wants to be terminated from marvel. His stuff is late (Iron Man) and anyone read Ultimate Secret 3? (I wont spoil, but just read the dialogue. lol)
I love Jae Lee though, his Black Bolt design for the UFF annual was great (and made sense since Black Bolt's mouth is covered).

This was brought up in part 3 of Sarcrifice after J'onn discovered that Max manipulated Supes mind. He said that when he killed the Phantom Zone criminals he erected psycological barriers to prevent himself from ever killing again. During the years of slow mental manipulation Max took down those barriers. J'onn said that if he killed again, even if it was under a delusion created by Max that Superman would probably go insane.

The lateness is due to the artist Adi Granov, not Ellis. Ellis is a machine with an insane amount of output. Marvel put the book on a 6 week schedule to make sure the book would come out on time. Obviously it didn't help. IIRC Granov himself took responsability in an interview on one of the various comic sites.

That dude's art really is awesome, isn't it. He worked on a Venom/Carnage miniseries with Peter Milligan a few months ago. Alas, though the art was impressive, it just seemed like a "I need to pay my rent" kind of Milligan story, so I didn't really care for it much.
Also, a few years ago, Crain worked on this Top Cow miniseries (8 or 9 issues) titled Tom Judge, which was written by Paul Jenkins. You probably shouldn't read it. If you didn't even like Origin (and I know you don't), Tom Judge is far, far, far worse. In fact, the only reason I ever read Tom Judge was because my friend found a copy of the trade paperback at a convention for only 2 bucks. Tom Judge was one of those comics that somehow ties in to the Witchblade and Darkness universe, and if it was meant to be an introduction to that universe, it was pretty piss poor.
To make it even worse, Crain's art was terrible. It wasn't the cutting edge CG stuff he's doing nowadays. Nope, back then it looks like he was forced to ape the Top Cow house style. As a result, his work looks like a watered down version of Marc Silvestri, Michael Turner, and 89 other Top Cow artists. It's just aesthetically awful, and even for people who actually do like Top Cow stuff, it's not up to par to their standards. Way too much flash and no substance.

Doubt it, I think in a solicit for an X-Men issue after HoM and the current Black Panther crossover, it was mentioned that she was finally coming clean about what she saw out in space during the end of Milligan's first story arc.

I am loving some Jack Cross. Dude is fucking psycho!!!! I dunno has the same good feel to it that Fables does, just not as strong.
I am really not feeling House of M storylines, but hopefully something good will come out of it.
DC is tearing shit up with their countdown to IC. Much better than HoM IMO.
I have loved New Avengers since it came out. The Sentry arc was getting a bit old IMO, but Spiderman is funnier in a group dynamic than on his own and I have been loving it!!!!
Oh yeah, BOX, Ronin from New Avengers is obviously Electra. Not a man.....

I know i'm 9 years late and all, but would someone mind telling me why "Dark" beast and X-Man were able to go through the M'Kraan crystal into the 616 timeline? It was stated in the final issue of the Age of Apocalypse arc that "only those without a living counterpart may pass through". I know that Beast is alive and well, and X-man is an alternate version of Cable, who was also still alive. How/why were those two allowed to pass into the the normal timeline? It just really bugged me.

Ah damn you! If it really is Elektra, then you've just ruined the book for me. Damn it makes so much sense too.
And I'm pretty sure that the Dr. Spectrum mini has finished. It was only six issues - and issue #6 came out in like April or March or something. Did you miss it? I'll spoil it for you then - HE WAKES UP.
I thought it was pretty crappy. And the new mini's Hyperion and Nighthawk are looking pretty bad as well. You can check out the initial sketches for the new characters in Hyperion at the back of Supreme Power #1 though - I thought that was neat.
Supreme Power was awesome though - everyone should pick up the trades. When's it coming back?
Coming out today is...Fables, Infinite Crisis #1, House of M #7, and Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man #1. What's the deal with that book? Marvel Knights Spider-Man didn't suck enough, so they had to release another Spider-Man book?

Those are two completely unrelated things. Only Destiny and Illyana could actually enter the crystal and they didn't survive. The rest just got really lucky and were swept into the 616 timestream; I don't think they entered the crystal.

god damn it, Ronin as Elektra makes a lot of sense. I just re-read the 11, and Daredevil never mentions if its a he or she. In fact, at first i thought it was a mistake when he said :
"THEY can do what u need done every bit as well as I can."
doesnt specify gender.
but then again, doesn't Cap know who Elektra is anywaysz?
From a visual perspective, Ronin looks a lot like Shang Chi. However Shang Chi has no ties to the Hand or Hydra that I'm aware of. Also Shang Chi is chinese and the name Ronin has a Japanese history.
Elektra is a possibility. I've also heard rumors of Ronin being Echo. Visually it doesn't look like it, but the connections are there for both suspects.
Daredevil mentioning "they" when talking about Ronin and Bendis cutting off the scene after Cap A asks "Who is he" right before Daredevil would have corrected him, suggests that Bendis clearly doesn't want us to know whether Ronin is a male, female, or more than one person.
The biggest gripe I have is that if it does turn out to be one of these 3 people, then why did they need to don the Ronin costume in the first place?
Anyhow, Supreme Power will start up again after the 2 miniseries finish. It will start back at #1 under the Marvel Knights line.
Gonna pick up Infinite crisis, house of m, friendly neighborhood and Street fighter today.

Sports bra or duct tape.....
And as far as why the need for a change of identity? Well they are trying to be discreet about it. Funny though that Daredevil didn't just get into another costume and do it. He has once before I am sure, but then again didn't he end up with amnesia during that?
Fables comes out today????? SWEET!!!! I love this comic more than anything.

Doctor Spectrum was like a 6 issue mini, but they seriously did not need 6 issues to tell that story, interest kinda died down towards the end. I liked the first issue of Nighthawk and Hyperion, and I hope they keep it interesting, at least they are gonna have villains which Doc Spectrum didn't really have.

I don't think anybody here reads catwoman. Don't be so sensative.
Hell, I don't either...usually (since the Balent series ended)...but I wanted this issue cuz I heard the Cheetah's in it. And you gotta admit, this place is nothing but Marvel convo. And it's "sensitive".

infinite crisis #1 came out today
i hadnt noticed that ultimate spider-man vol. 6 hc was out, need to pick that up even though I thought the carnage arc was total crap.
Im considering getting the green lantern rebirth hc but i dunno if i will like it. I didnt start reading gl until emerald twilight (hal goes crazy) which i loved and I enjoyed the kyle rayner character...so why would I like a story where its all retconned?

bought of house of m 7 and ghost rider 2
HoM 7 was imo the best of the series so far. I'm really interested in seeing how Bendis plans on concluding it. Surely its all temporary, cause man a permanent effect would be totally crazy and risky.
ghost rider 2 rocked as much as the first one...although it is weird to see ghost rider having such a crazy personality so far, it is well accepted, and the art is very fitting for the mini series. heres for hoping that after the series concludes, Ennis and co decide to write some more, cause its that fun.
checked out infinite crisis, it seemed ok, just wast too fond of the last page, and ultimate x-men, which had an ending i did not particuraly enjoy, especially if the result endsup being fatal. but nonetheless, it looks like the best ultimate x-men arc in a while.

Oh, there will be a permanent effect. There's a reason why this leads into the Decimation event. Look up the meaning of the word decimation, and look at what Wanda says at the end.

SPOILERS
Issue opens and BOOM, big fight. Really, it's a splash page that lets you know that a battle is happening. As it stands, the fight is pretty meaningless. You can't punch things until the world reverts back to normal, and beating up a bunch of Genoshan guards isn't gonna effect the outcome of the story. The thing with Bendis is that he knows how to script a fight scene, I've seen many very good fight scenes that he scripted, so he's not writing these big chaotic battles to avoid writing a fight scene, he's writing them this way because the real drama of the issue isn't a physical battle but a mental one. But yeah, one wonders if Bendis scripts stories where fights are fairly meaningless to avoid scripting fights. I've got no answer there.
But yeah, the fight is happening, and it goes down like this: After a big splash page, Rogue grabs Genis-Vell and steals his powers, making her all sparkley so she can go off and kick more ass. Over in the magnetic shield that Polaris has put up, Pietro is holding a downed Wanda, but all of a sudden, she literally falls into a million pieces. Tetris pieces, by the looks of it. Pietro takes off running, but gets his ass knocked to the ground by a supercharged Rogue, who just stands there and acts southern.
Before I move to the Doctor Strange scene, i'd like to point out that in the panel where Cyclops tells Nightcrawler to watch people's backs, Cyclops is literally shooting the ground. Is he blind when his beams shoot? Kinda funny.
So, Doctor strange noitices a light on, up in one of the towers, and goes to investigate. Because, like, investigating people who leave lights on is WAY more important than the battle at hand. And hey, it's Wanda in there, playing with those damn creepy kids. Wanda recognizes him. It appears that her mind is part in the house of M, and part in the real world. She knows who he is, and knows tha he delivered her kids, but doesn't know why he's there. The Wanda that fell apart was a construct, and it seems that she's been making a lot of constructs recently, and it is hinted that the Magneto we've seen recently is a construct as well. Of course, we don't know WHICH one was real and which was made by Wanda, but I prefer to think that Magneto died in New X-men #115, and every Magneto since then was a creation of Wanda's that represented the different sides of Magneto that she knows. Sorta makes sense, right?
But anyway, Strange informs her of the fighting outside, and then we learn why things are the way they are. We flashback to HoM #1, the scene between Pietro and Magneto. After Magneto leaves, Wanda wakes up and consoles her brother. She's accepted her fate, but Pietro doesn't want to lose her. He devises a plan. She could use Xaviers powers and hers, and make the world perfect. She could make the world so everyone would be happy, everyone would would have what they want, even Magneto. It's either that or she dies. It wasn't Magneto that set this all in motion, it was Pietro.
Apparently, Doctor Strange is surprised by this revalation. I think he might be the only one. Strange continues the questions that Emma Frost telepathically tells him to ask, but before she can tell him where Xavier is, Wanda takes an arrow to the back. Before Emma can figure out what is going on, Magneto appears before her. Layla does the mind thingee on Magneto, and before we can see what happens, we cut back to the bedroom, where Hawkeye is back, making good on his promise to put an arrow in Wanda. Hawkeye is understandably pissed for, y'know, being dead. Wanda counters with the fact that she DID bring him back, but before any more could be said, that little toothless bastard kid of Wandas throws a fit and Hawkeye falls into tetris pieces, just like the construct of Wanda did earlier. Man, I hate these kids. Wanda keels over, and she's just as crazy as ever. She can't control her powers now, which doesn't sound good.
Back in the battle, Pietro is causing a lot of damage, as evidenced by a lot of speed lines and small panels of heroes getting their heads hit, but then BOOM, Magneto starts yelling and he is pissed. He literally restrains every single hero in pieces of metal, and has them floating, he then brings Pietro up in the center, right in front and starts chewing him out. Mangeto is none too pleased with what Pietro has done in his name, and sends these giant balls of scrap metal colliding into Pietro's exposed head. Personally, I love stuff like this, because it really puts on display just how goddamn powerful Magneto is. Of course, Wanda doesn't love stuff like this, because she explodes out of her tower, cancels out Magneto's hold on all the heroes, and literally erases his mouth so he can't tell her to stop. She moves over to the clearly dead Pietro and either restores him to life, or cleans off his corpse, I can't tell which. She then really calls Magneto on all his bullshit. Mostly his arrogance is what she can't stand, and the fact that he chose his quest for mutant superiority over his own kids. She doesn't buy into the idea that mutants are the next step in human evolution, but instead thinks that they're all freaks. And if he believes in mutant superiority so much, well guess what? "No more mutants" Wanda tells him, and things start to light up. Doctor Strange puts up some kind of magical barrier, but even then, the world burns white, and the issue ends.

Actually, we talk about quite a bit, not just marvel. Just cause you're coming in on the tail end of the thread doesn't mean that marvel is all we've ever talked about. Please cease the labeling. If we wanted to make some general statements like that I'd just say you were a fucking furry and degrade you because you like to fuck people while dressed up as a panda. But I won't, because I'm not an asshole. Well, I am, but I could really give a fuck what gets you off. Considering your post history, the avs you've rocked, and what you usually discuss and even your very post in this thread, I'd say I'd be right in making that assumption. Oh yeah, and you're a racist. Remember that cracker incident? So pick at my grammar if you want, I can readily bring up things that are a lot more insulting in regards to you and all you can throw back is that I mispelled something.

Oh calm down, you crazy furry. There's 16 pages here, you can't just assume we hate DC just because you saw six posts on the House of M.
- I'm finding Infinite Crisis to be really kinda...crappy. I'm not excited about it at all, and I hate how there's a billion books you must read before each issue.
Why is the Watchtower busted? Read JLA.
Why is there static between Superman and Batman? Read OMAC.
Why is Superboy a pussy? Read Teen Titans.
Why is Donna Troy back? Read Rann/Thanagar War.
Why has Starfire's hair reverted back to the 1980's? No explanation.
Why is the Rock of Eternity over Gotham City? Read Day of Vengance.
Why is Uncle Sam still in a comic book? Who knows?
This book is bullshit. If I don't know what's going on, then who does?
THe only Infinite Crisis mini I've been keeping up with was Villians United, which in hindsight, wasn't really worth the money. Crazy twist to the last issue though, so I'm not completely bummed out. I'm not completely sure, but I'm willing to bet that this was the best mini, and it wasn't even all that great.
- Ghost Rider is amazing. What was Clayton Crain doing all cooped up in Top Cow for so long? These are some of the best colours I've ever seen in a comic book. And any God/angel/demon story with Garth Ennis is going to kick ass.
- I was going to pick up the new Spider-Man monthly, but I didn't feel like it. But Peter David and Mike Weiringo sounds like a great team, so someone let me know how the book was.
- Fables is awesome. That's really all there is to it. Great new story, and I this new Red Riding Hood/Blue Boy thing is making me giddy like a school girl.

I picked up TBP Essential Spider-Man vol. 7, HoM #7, and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 today.
About HoM #7. As for who was behind it... I freaking knew it!! I called it!! I so called it!!
But anyway, it was a great issue. I can't wait for the conclusion.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man was great for the first 12 issues but then went to crap when they changed the writer and artist of the book.
As for Friendly Neighborhood Spidey #1, the book was GREAT!! I've heard Peter David was a fantastic writer and I can see why people say he is. He really knows how to write one of my favorite comic characters. The Other: Evolve or Die has made an excellent start. As long as they don't screw it up this story could be worth all the hype Marvel's made out of it.
I enjoyed Friendly neighborhood spider-man. It was a lot better than Marvel Knights... that's for sure. Wieringo changed his spider-man style since last time that I saw him draw. This issue was part 1 of The Other: Evolve or Die.

Fucking cosign. Easily the best title I've picked up in the past few months. Shouts out to ever for the heads up!
HOM #7 just shit on ALL the IC stuff. There's the battles people have been craving, but you understand why everything is happening. There's so much development and
