So I was talking to The Mullah on MSN yesterday, and he tells me that a number of the XBL players (Bass, Kneel, myself), live in North London, in particular Southgate. I just wanna find out if that is true. If it is, maybe we can organise a session between the London XBL players (South London players like The Mullah and Luwaat are welcome too). The troc is cool and all, but not everyone can adjust to the sticks and it's kinda cramped and stuffy in there. Getting down there is also difficult for some people as it's not as easy as simply driving to somewhere with easy-access parking. Playing at someone's home means players can bring whatever controller they want, be it Arcade stick or pad, and you can play in a relaxed environment and not have to keep popping 50's into a cab.

I'm still at Uni at the minute but I complete my education in a month. So if any of you London players are interested, please post here with who you are, what part of London you are from and what days are best for you to play on. Peace :razzy:.

you'll be lucky if nerdb4me comes out of his room to socialise with real people.

i have a real octagon gate, not your handmade piece of shit. you know who you are.

next weekend people, lets do this? sifu, kneel bass chowster, trout etc.

I'm not an XBL player myself but I wouldnt mind coming along sometime after my exams, which like golden_gunman, finish in a months time. Just let me know what happens and I'll see if I can make it. I am from south London, and I go to lots of sessions myself (hatims, chefs, dukus etc), but I would like to see how XBL players play.

I'd be up for meeting up too. I'm down in Brighton but it's only a train ride away. Means I'd have to carry my hunking 2 player X-Arcade up there though. Maybe i could disguise it as a skate board or something....

Guys, I'd love to do it this weekend, but I am too busy. I'm graduating this year, so as you can understand, I can't really host anything at the moment. I'm thinking of making it a Sunday -maybe the 15th May. I know it's a long way away, but like I say, that's when I break up from university. I might be able to host the session, but ironically it would be in Walthamstow, not Southgate. My sister owns a flat and will be on holiday then, so it's the only place I can think of where I could hold a session. If anyone's got a better location and wouldn't mind a bunch of strangers with joysticks terrorising their family / flat mates, and in a better location, post here.

I'm not an XBL player myself but I wouldnt mind coming along sometime after my exams, which like golden_gunman, finish in a months time. Just let me know what happens and I'll see if I can make it. Raju I think we will have to handicap you (you can use my broken Hori or something) in some way because I've seen you at the troc and it won't be pretty in matches against you. XBL players are good but I don't think anyone is used to playing players like yourself, Chunkis, The Chef, Vince, etc on a regular basis. You guys can do stuff like red parrying which is *very* difficult on XBL, even with a good connection. But it would be great to get some tips, so it would be great to have you come along.

BTW, Edieman, you use an XArcade? I used to own one of those things, it was crap! Man how are you that good using that thing! If you can do all those Aegis traps with that thing, you really are a good player. You can just use my Sanwa if you come up here, that XArcade is way too heavy to travel with.

Golden_Gunman: Sessions are the best and most effective when you are up against tough opponents, thats the only way I learnt. But obviously its gotta be fun too, its cool because you dont have to pay per play and can mess around with other characters. And most of all everyone is on their own stick/pad so its all good. I am free from 15th May onwards too! Good luck in your exams man, final year must be tough.

bassventura: Thanks man! Yeah I hope to play you again soon.

Shit man, thats where I live :wow: On Malvern Road which is off Alexandra road - you MUST know it!!!

If you guys want, I'll be more than happy to host a session for you lot whenever its convenient (minus 9-5 on weekdays :bgrin:). In fact, I INSIST!! I live with family, but as long as we stay in my room, its all cool.

What say you?

Awsome geeza I cant recall that road off the top of my head, but I am sure I have seen it. I cant have massive sessions around my yard but you should pass up one day for a game and a bifta

I'll PM you my mobs you can do the same, I'm of on friday so a local link up might be a possibility

This sounds cool to me. Turnpike Lane is pretty easy to to. But it's gonna depend surely on how many people are planning on coming. I don't reckon you can get more than 8 guys in a room without he man odour being too much to bear lol.

EDIT: One more thing. Anyone got a video capture card or some way of capping matches. If we do have a session we should record it I reckon. "XBL Offline Battle" - the vid.

04-18-2005, 06:30 AM
Shit, I forgot to mention one thing - my room isn't that large, and the bed just takes up a third of the space. If guys dont mind sitting on the floor, I can tidy up a wee bit, but I doubt anything more than 5/6 guys. Besides, I doubt that many people will turn up in one go.

I play the box through my PC, but the capture facility doesn't work, so you'll have to find other means for that.

I got the X arcade because of 3S. Before the Xbox release I hadn't played any SF games for like 6/7 years. Last one was Street Fighter II Turbo!

Anyways, I reckon the Xarcade is ok but I have put in Happs Competition Sticks and buttons. The standard equipment really was that bad and there is a little input lag using the converter. I would prefer Sanwas but I think I spent far too much as it is on the damn thing!

Having said that I might have a chat with Mullah about possible further conversion with a xbox controller to do away with the lag. Really nice job on your custom stick Mullah

I do have an extra controller plugged in which is what I use for my friend in training mode. Oh dear, now I'm worried - gotta sort this out if I'm gonna host a session.

Well, I'd rather be in Sweden where the guitarists are shit hot. And if you live in UK, you'll always be poor. Seriously

And are you talking about Yngwie Malsten???
Malmsteen is just one of them. I'm a bigger fan of Mattias Eklundh of Freak Kitchen. Besides, there are tons of swedish prog rock bands that dont get the limelight (cant even remember their names) but are simply amazing. Certainly took my guitar playing to new levels.
I'm still pondering whether to attend his guitar camp this Summer. I'm just daunted by the whole journey to a country where I've never been before and know absolutely no one :xeye:

Mullah you sure you can make it? I found this recent picture of your ride still pinned against the wall. I know you wont come if you cant bring your stick.

TGG and Naz, good to hear you guys are close. If anything is going down close-by, the chances of me making an appearance rasies around 80% I actually know of Alexandra Road Naz, Im 5 minutes down the road in Tottenham. TGG's proposed date is good for me since Im also pretty busy at the moment. What other games do you guys play besides 3S?

Golden_Gunman
04-18-2005, 02:39 PM
I think everyone will be looking to play 3S mainly, but I'm sure you guys will want to play CvsS2 as well. I have a chipped Xbox so I have arcade perfect versions of Alpha 3  , Garou, King of Fighters (up to 2002) and DarkStalkers. I can get hold of GGX#r and CFJ too. If I can get hold of the flat, I'll get two TV's down there and maybe we can have two games going on at once. That is of course assuming I get the flat, and a this stage, I can't guarantee that.

Right now we need to settle on the date and location. 15th May seems a popular date and it gives enough time for people that will have to travel far like Mullah and Edieman enough time to plan. I'm sure not too many people work on Sundays either. Right now we need a definite location. Harmonaz, could you do the 15th May at your place? If I can get a bigger venue, we can always change it, but provisionally we need a place to play.

HarmoNaz

Hi guys,

I dont have any major plans until June, so lets say May 15th is do-able :pleased: However I will need to be reminded even though I doubt this will slip my mind.
I did some sizing yesterday and I actually think we can get quite a few people in once I've removed some of the furniture. We'll still need to sit on the floor or stand, but we do that at the troc or arcades anyway! The only other ground rule I'll have to impose is no alcohol - hope that isn't a problem.
I'm running mame and neorage on my PC, so the KOF and other snk fighters are there. I have a USB converter thingy for PS2 pads, or if you prefer something else, bring it along and we'll see if my PC can stomach it. Though Guilty Gear or Tekken or any of the other games I dont have. I can get a ps2 from my mate with Tekken 4, Tekken Tag, SF EX 3, CvS2, Mortal Kombat DA. But only one at a time because we cannot make any noise OUTSIDE my room.
I only have 1 ps2-xbox converter, so someone please bring another. Oh and my VS option isn't dimmed anymore - yeah yeah, call me stoopid :annoy:
My weekends are usually free, so if any of you wanna pop down before then, you're very welcome - subject to some security briefing  but seriously, this is all in good faith so I hope no one abuses it...
And if you play guitar, I have some treats for you ;-)

I'd come to this house meet. But only if someone preferably close would guarantee a place in their home for me to crash the night so I wouldn't have to worry about catching the last train. It costs enough for train and tube tickets to travel from Warwick.

If anyone is offering, PM me.

ROFL :pleased: I hear ya with the crapper. Allow taking a dump after someone else has just unleashed their own super art in the bowl before you. Harmonaz said that he could do something at his place, but at the moment I don't think we can have more than six players because no-one has a place with enough room. I am trying to sort something out with more room for more players because if peeps like Vince and Raju are interested in coming along if would be too good to have them play as learning off those guys will help my game x 1 million. As a plan B I got my place where you guys can play but maximum six people and no drink / smoke inside my house (gotta respect the Pops, seeing as he lets me live there rent-free). So like I say if anyone can guarantee something better than that let me know, otherwise I will post in May with exactly what the situation is.

BTW: Nice meeting Bass, Harmonaz, Edieman (briefly) and Sifu-V. You guys seemed a bit quiet though (probably because some of you admit to smoking things you shouldn't, lol). Mind you it is loud in the troc and you sometimes can't hear anything. Oh well look forward to meeting you guys again.

I think I can manage about 6-7 guys in my room, but it will be very squashed - what do you think Bass? I have a door to the garden in my room, so odour shouldn't be a problem. And to repeat myself, smoke is possible, but NO BOOZE (sorry!).

Ok just PM'd HarmoNaz, this thing is on. Sunday May 15th as planned. Only room for 6 people this first time, until we can sort out a bigger venue. Anyways there is no point arranging a massive session when we don't know how many people are actually going to show or not. If this is a sucess, we'll have a another one in a different place maybe with more people. Anyway 6 spaces to fill, so I guess it's first come first served.

GUYS - MAJOR UPDATE AND GOOD NEWS

I just spoke to my dad and he's even agreed to let me have the whole ground floor to myself on that day. This means:

We have one TV in the living room to play on, as well as my room with the big PC monitor. I would ask that someone bring along another xbox in case the guys don’t like waiting while I constantly unplug their sticks to plug my pad in plus changing buttons etc etc, so maybe if I just keep my pad plugged in to one of the consoles, it should all be sweet. Or we could keep my xbox linked to live, though I doubt anyone will like the shifts between offline and online playing (screws me up bigtime).

We'll have the kitchen and dining room so I will prepare snacks for all of you hopefully. BUT NO BOOZE!!

Everyone is invited, as long as you aren't a weirdo or thief :bgrin: I'm not trying to be a dick, but please understand that I come from a conservative muslim family, so please enjoy yourselves, but no unsocial/loud behaviour whatsoever.

You can use the crapper if desperate, but leave it in a state such that my parents don’t Shun Goku Satsu me…

Any questions, let me know. Apart from that, lets make this happen

I want team BigBad to come. I enjoy beasting them.

Ok, i've been thinking... and it hurt quite a bit.

Of us South England live SRK players, who would be the best with each character? No this aint a popularity drive in my favor, but i think its worth thinking about... This is my list.

Ken-Bass
Akuma Harmonaz or A-Kumar
Edipops (does he count, not living in london?) Remi
Gunman - Q
Me.... ?
Darkmaster...? (sorry bud, never played you.)
BBC - ?
BBJ - ?

Lemme know what you think.

The scales are your reputation thingy. I have no idea how they work tho.

ok then lets talk AE
Super Ryu= chowster and hadoku

super turbo ryu= ak-UMAR and Original DON

Honda = Unikronn

Sagat (any) + ak-UMAR and unikronn

Guile = original don (playalystic but i have not played him)

chum-li = original don or ossoi

gief = Villan In Blac

Bison= unikronn

Ken = chowster, unikronn, ak-UMAR, o. don

Blanka= original don , unikronn

vega, in london i believe i am the only vega player now

balrog=?

sim =?

cammy =?

Dee-Jay= ?

Fei Long =? villan in blac

Even though we are talking london players I do not know if Demon Grim is from london if so he would probably be on every character. The don 786 would and should get Guile, Vega, Dee-Jay but im not sure if he is from london

Meenaxi has Guile, chun-li, and now honda I believe he should start using bison as well.

the best all rounder in MY opinion would go to R-ism or his newer name Indelable Masta, but im not sure he plays anymore. I have played him off and on line he is a monster on live and has one of the best st ryus on the arcades in london.

hmm it looks like my last exam has been pushed forward to Sat 14th May.. which means I might be able to make your session on Sunday, if there's space. If it's full up, never mind it's cool.

The no smoking/drinking rule is fine with me, as I do neither. (Ahem better add no pork as well, if ppl are planning to bring food ¬_¬)

I'd prefer if no one brings food as I'd be honoured to take you all out to eat or order a takeaway. But if you do, then yes, please dont bring pork for reasons you can probably figure out. Oh, and I'm not a saint as I do tend to smoke every now and then...

Naz, could you PM me with where you live? Send me like a Streetmap link or something. Also, what's parking like where your at? I ask only because I am now the proud owner of this badboy:

http://img171.echo.cx/img171/8531/saturnastrovsastrocity2uu.jpg
(My sticks are the bottom ones)

These sticks are identical to the Trocadero ones, so anyone is free to practice on them in order to get better so that they can take their "A" game with them next time they are at the Trocadero. They are pretty heavy though, so I can't be bothered to carry them on the tube, so I'd like to know where's best to park up.

HarmoNaz
05-10-2005, 02:36 AM
DarkMaster Jeff - apology accepted
Gunman - :wow: How did you manage to get that man??? unfortunately I'm not very well informed about parking. People who come round mine have often complained about it being difficult to find a parking space, but they do eventually. If you need a map, try searching for Malvern Road on postcode N8. There is a big pay and display place in the shopping mall nearby.
Bass - do you have any idea on parking round our area?

Hey fellas, I've not been playing / posting for a while but still up for some offline sessions. I can't make this Sunday 15th but can do something later. Perhaps Sifus B'day bash on the 27th. Put me down for it

I am not sure about parking near yours, my guess is it's permit holders and the free spaces are probobly limited. Naz`have a look around your area and find out for sure. If worst come to worst then I can take GGman near my yard to park his car, it'll be a 10 min walk from there to yours but there's always parking near mine.

GGman I was so tempted when I saw wot megalo was sellin but had to tear myself away, I am glad you bought them atleat I'll get a chance at tryin that shit out. P

Gunman: I definitely need some practice on those small fiddly sanwa super sticks. Last time I was at the troc I struggled to unlock the secret codes for even dash or jump forward.

Tell me about it. Everyone thought I was a proper pussy for not playing last time I went to the troc, but when you can't dash or parry when you want to, it's really frustrating. Most troc players would own me even if I was used to the controls, so you get made to look like an idiot if you have that as a disadvantage as well. Edieman, you are a great player on XBL, but I noticed that you couldn't even get your Aegis traps out at the troc, because of your unfamiliarity with their sticks. I know that feeling well. I really didn't need these sticks as I have three already :karate: including a Tha-Darkside custom Sanwa (pure pimpage) and a Hori Real Arcade Pro (which needs fixing because I pulled off one too many mp, hp, SA3 with Ken). But I brought the sticks because with a chipped Xbox I basically have an arcade in my own room, with Alpha 3, 3S, Super Turbo, Garou, etc, etc AND I can use them on XBL :badboy: . I also got them because I really wanna start a semi-regular meet with players. The troc is cool and everything, but nothing beats being able to play 3S and then walk 10 metres and munch from your fridge! You also don't have to pay 50p per game and the lighting doesn't give you epilepsy. If we can get sessions going on once a month (maybe more now that us students are finishing soon), it would be well good.

@ Bass, if you want it I can give you a good deal on my Hori Real Arcade. It needs some sorting out, but instead of getting an expensive stick, you are welcome to borrow it indefinitley as long as I can have it back if I really need it (which is pretty unlikely).

I asked Mr.Megalo where he got the Astro City sticks from and he says he got it from Australia :xeye: . I think I have found them for sale on a Japanese site, but they are really expensive unfortunately. However, he (Mr. M) has told me that if he finds any more he will import them, so if he or I find any, I'll let you guys know, because they are really nice sticks to play with, and I'm sure when you use them, a few of you guys might want one of your own, although I gotta say that Tha-Darkside makes really nice sticks, and his Sanwa's get the Gunman's personal reccomendation.

HarmoNaz
05-10-2005, 07:51 AM
Gunman - can I borrow the stick PLEASE? I really need a decent stick to practice on, and if I like yours, I'll either fix it and buy it off you or buy a brand new one.

^ @ Naz:
Sure, why not. That means I am bringing THREE sticks with me on Sunday though, so you guys, have a heart and help me carry the things yeah? I think all you need is emery paper to clean up the contacts a bit, because I think one micro switch is playing up. Anyway I got an exam tommorow, so you won't hear from me for a bit (you may notice that I have temporarily "retired" from XBL for the last two weeks for the same reason). Anyway peace y'all.

Thanks for the offer GGM  , I bought the CFJ hori recently but still preffer my SC2 stick. I am sure Naz will make good use:nunchuck: of the stick. I gotta admire your collection though it is pure pimp  . With those astro sticks, Mame and a carpentor your only one step away from having an actual arcade in your house.
The next thing I'm gonna go for is a custom Sanwa with some custom artwork on it (then I will also become a Pimp:cool:....oh yeah).

Since I started playing on stick, I get an urge to buy one every time I get paid, end of this month I am gonna go for the sanwa, I hope it stops their, but you never know :shake: .
I just hope I dont end up the mad man on the street that stays home allday and no one ever sees him in the neighbour hood. The only time he comes out is when people come into his front garden and knock on his door, and then he comes out chasing them away by tossing arcade sticks at them and growling :looney: .
Still thats the future and I can change it...........I hope.

Just to let you guys know - I can do sessions like that around once a month I reckon, so bear that in mind. I'm planning to stop playing online for awhile to develop a stick game - so I would appreciate any offline sessions or games anyone is willing to give me.

Bass - I'm gonna be bugging you for offline games every now and then!

Golden Gunman - Thanks for going to all the trouble of driving over with your sticks. And a very special thank you from me personally for letting me borrow your stick and converter - I owe you bigtime for that  Forget all that moaning I was doing about offline timing and Akuma needing exact timings and stuff - it was all because of my shitty converter. I just practiced on your stick for an hour and I'm simply amazed at how easy some things are :wow: Though as I feared, I can't pull out the Raging Demons quick enough to use a dash in > demon setup. But after seeing Chef play today, I'm gonna stick with Ryu for awhile...

Bumping this thread to let you guys know that I will be hosting a session in the second week of June. I have the house free for a week, so I am flexible as to what day I do. A lot of people will be working etc, so I want to know what day is best for everyone. I have the whole house free so I'm going to have two TV's (not tiny one's either *ahem HarmoNaz ahem*). I aint the greatest player but I have two of the best sticks in the UK, as BassVentura and Harmonaz will testify. I live in North London, nearest Tube stations are Southgate (Picadilly) and Whetstone (Northern). If anyone is travelling from out of town (Edieman), I think Vince was interested in one of the sessions once, then I can offer a place to crash if that makes things easier for you.

Last time at Naz's we had myself, HarmoNaz, BassVentura, Raju, Hatim, Chef, Zakuta, Chunkis (briefly). All those guys are invited this time too, but I also wanna hear from:

Kneel B4 Me
Sifu V
The Mullah
Ediepops

Lemme know what you think.

Peace.

Golden_Gunman: Troc was hotter than a mutha****** yesterday huh? Btw that japanese dude came later and got beats by my Urien only eventually ending up having to resort to Yuns genei-gay-jin and then pwn me several times over lol, I never thought he would be one to do something like but its his choice at the end of the day I guess :lame: lol.

Anyway good idea about the session I will try my best come to this, I will let a few other l33t 3s heads that dont really check these forums know as well if you want (I know Peaceman is looking to go to sessions now that he cant make it to troc on fridays anymore, Dukus wants to start brucking heads again and Basis and Hkc have now finished pretty much their exams so they may like to come too) obvously its all down to the space in your house I aint telling no one until I have your fully granted permission mate :karate: . Just pm me your mobile number or something, checking these boards all the time is becoming long tingz lol.

As for which day it should be on, I am not sure cause my work shifts are random but I should be able to get around it. I will see closer to the time when all these other heads give their preferred day. Laters

Yeah it was sweltering down there on Friday. I had to duck early because I couldn't stand the heat. If was a toss-up of more games or a bottle of ice cold coke, and the coke won. BTW Who is the Yun player? Is he the oriental looking guy with the girlfriend? I'll keep an eye out for him.

I don't mind who you are thinking of bringing along, just give me a rough idea how many nearer the time. Right now I am just trying to get the best date for everyone. If I can't find a good date this month, I might push it back one more month to give everyone a bit more time to sort out a day of work, etc.

I'll post soon with exact details though for everyone who's interested.

Anyway, yeah a sunday should be good for me. Seeya.

That's the spirit man, let me know if you decide to pop over man, I'll show you around town. I got a week and a bit of from work at the begining of july. I also had a similar idea, I have friends/family that live in various EU countries. I was thinking to myself that if I ever went to any of these countries aswell as enjoying the scenery and doing the holiday shit I could visit family/friends and of course play sf with srk heads.

If I ever travel I gotta make sure I got the essentials

Passport
Toothbrush
Arcade stick
magic box
dc convorter
socks

Sifu's cool man, He was up at my yard a couple of days ago (sun I think), He should be back online soon from his new place mean time he is keeping him self entertained by chocking his chicken (i feel like chicken tonight, chicken tonight).

Also Eddie I host sessions at mine quite frequently, the only thing is I dont have more then 3 or 4 peeps up at once. I got a large ass room but still though I like everyone to be super comfy (I also fear man BO). If you fancy a trip down to london one sunday or something we'll sort something out, Harmonaz is always up for it and is a ten minute walk away, GGM is in the neighbourhood too, Sifu is another possibility, akUMAR and Kneelb4me are down the road too There's also the troc crew plus others.

GGM it'll be great if you could host the mega one.

Also guys I been thinking if I can find a hall in london that we can rent, we might be able to host a session with 50 - 100 uk heads and no one needs to worry cause their yards not on the line, seats are usually provided, we'll prob just have to take TV's and concoles with us. I dont know how much it will cost to rent but I'm thinkining between £50 - £200 for the day depending on size and location, if we split the cost I'm sure it will work out less then a fiver each. Guys give me some feed back on this idea if I get a good response I'll start a thread on hiring a hall and put this thing into second gear. P

Sounds good. I'd love to head up to London but it's more of a money/time issue than anything else (and laziness). Now the football season is over, I'm not in London much anymore and only really want to go if I'll be playing lots of UK SFers and SRK guys. So if there is a bit 50 - 100 hall style meet, I'd definitely be in.

Good to hear Sifu is ok. Thanks for the open invite, if GGman can't do the big one then I'll buzz you and we can hook up at yours instead.

If you're talking a fiver/ tenner I think it's a no brainer. I reckon 20 people is very achieveable = £200 / 20 = £10.00!!

Getting 50 people down is gonna be a tall order. You'd need to attract them with some kinda tournament set up and other games.

Sounds like a plan

I'm thinkin 3 0r 4 TV's, I can contibute one telly and one or two consoles. 3s can have a permanant set up, on other screens either permanent or as the crowd chooses we can go through cvs2, alpha3, ST, my main choices will be cvs2 and 3s but if people feel to play other titles then shouldnt really be an issue. I think if we could get the reg online crew there we'll prob cover costs, but we can also use the help of UK veterens such as chunkis, chef, Raju and others can bring some players. I am quite happy to find and rent a venue and help with set up of tourny but if there is a tournie in something then I would like someone to take the lead in score keeping and fixtures, I am willing to help with this but dont want to be tied down allday fixin peeps up. I'll have a word with chunkis and see if we can make something more then just a session, but in all honesty I am quite happy just gettin heads together to play casually. I'll look more into this.

Ok sorry guys, nothing is happening this month, at least not a mega session anyway. For all the North London players, I normally have a mini-session on Sundays that HarmoNaz and BassVentura come along to. If you're North London and can get to New Southgate, you're welcome to come along. I can only really get a maximum of six people in my room, and even that's a stretch, so if you wanna come along, PM me in advance, and we'll chat.

As for the "mega" session, I planned it because my folks were planning to go away. They have told me they are still planning to go away, but probably in late July. If I can get a definitive date, I'll post up here as the level interest in the session suprised me, I think we would even have enough for a small mini-tournament.

BTW Bass - what place are you thinking of to rent out? We have to talk about this next time we meet up.

I only defeat peeps quickly just so more people can have a go and not have to wait ages.

Good thing you didn't come to Haatim's cos my journey back involved missing the last bus and running like mad to get the last tube...

Next time hopefully plan to get there a bit earlier and put names to faces.

Good games to you lot, Harmonaz yeah Hatim is a late type session holder lol but tbh since I made the effort to get all the way down to troc, I usually prefer to just stay there and play, sessions are more of a sunday thing for me (or anyday apart from friday I guess lol). Yeah despite a lot of the usual heads not turning up, things did get interesting later, a guy called Ken came down he has a solid Makoto.

Anyway I just thought I would remind you guys that there will be a big tourney with tekken and 3s in holland Amsterdam soon, I am not 100% sure if I am gonna even be in London at the time it happens but if I am I definately am intersted in going, if any of you lot are interested in going check out this thread: http://tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=80259

Perhaps I can set up some money matches for him so he has a chance to cover the cost of him coming over :badboy: .

Oh BTW seeing as this session is looking like being a one-of-a-kind in terms of getting so many players together at once for some casual play (although hopefully we'll see everyone again for the Neo-Empire tournament), does anyone know of a way of capping matches? I don't personally own a video camera so I'm stuck for ideas. I was wondering if anyone had a DVD recorder or something to store a couple of hours worth of play, just for a laugh. I'll probably try to arrange a quick tournament on the day (By quick I mean best of one match, SBO style and the prize will be something crappy like a Mars bar lol). So it would be good to cap some of those games.

Anyway still quite a way to go, so I'll discuss things nearer the time.

He he this is why I made that post in the first place :badboy: . I want to add a little spice to the occassion. Yes the troc players are good but more than anything some of the matches between Grahf and the Troc crew will be damn good to watch. Especially if both players agree to flash the cash. I especially want to see Grahf vs Raju because I've heard that Urien is Grahf's main now and Raju certainly has one of the best Urien's in the UK. I also want to see Grahf vs Vince-UK but I don't know if that will happen or not. Don't get me wrong I am not billing Grahf as the messiah or anything, but the games should be good.

yes i mean highbury, the flats behind/infront of highbury, my grandad lives there. what i meant was that i would like to attend golden gunmans session on july 17th. anyway i am gonna kick some of your assess onlive(joningXBL) tommorow.

even though i've never played Grahfster, i do not mean any disrespect to him but i am confident that most Friday Troc regulars would love the free money.
Cool man, send me a friend request when you get on live. If we get a good connection I'm always up for long sets, slightest bit of lag and I usually leave after one though.
I dont think I've ever played grahf but have heard of him on numorous occations for having the best Yun online.

Neo Empire tourney ??? tell me more be nice to watch i aint good enough to play
(Note to self must go troc and learn the game proper)
Dude it aint about how good you are, the UK scene is pretty much dead on the 2d front, so I always find it annoying when players say I aint entering a tournie cause I aint good nuff. In all honesty dude I am just average if anything but will enter any tournie presented to me cause A) It's Fun B) Good experiance C) Most importantly I'm supporting a scene that is dying. My main point is the scene can only realy be revived if all the armchair warriors start attendin shit. In regards to your question, there's not a confirmed date for the Neo Empire tourney yet, I know T5 seems to be the headliner at the mo, but as soon as I hear anything I'm sure either myself or someone else will post it up.

GGman/ Bass; Have either of you got a projector for the 17th July? I don't have one but it would be cool seeing as there are so many people coming to this.

I'm going to try and make it on the 17th and if i am coming i can supply a projector no problems GGM do you have a big enough wall for it? the projector is an expensive one so it doesnt need to be a white wall we usually use the wall at my house which is yellow and everything displays fine even films its just like having a 100inch screen

Hopefully I can make this.

If chef comes, he has a digital camera and knows how to cap stuff too.

Grahf_swe did you name yourself after grahf in xenogears? I look forward to playing you.

Yeah man the projector thing sounds good.

bassventura: I'll go do amsterdam too. First summer i didn't go anywhere for the last 4years so i thought of making it a 3s-summer. Maybe I'll see you there! :)

Raju: Yeah, I played xenogears and enjoyed the story a lot. He's an obvious copy of darth vader but still.. i find him more well done. Anakin is broken. The "swe"-part was just something i added for xbox-live a long time ago so that the swedish players knew it was me.

Anyways. I look forward to the whole tourney/session or whatever ppl want to call it. It's about time that ppl should find out what sweden can do. :)

And yes i play with stick.

Now... Prepare to strike!

Fucking hell this is sounding more like EVO and less like a session. You are welcome to bring the Projector but I don't actually know where I could realistically fit it. My main aim is to have four large TV's. There is going to be a lot of people coming, and it's all about playing new people. Good players, Bad players, average players, whatever. The scene is dieing and it's up to us to revive it. Remember, even the troc is dieing.

I don't want people waiting for ages to play, i want it so that if you want to play, you don't have to wait long to play. I was going to set it up so that the best TV would be the main play area, and if there was a tournament or $$ money matches $$ , that they would be on that screen and that area would have capped matches. But I guess we'll see what happens.

Hi Everyone,

Here are the details on how to get to my session on Sunday July 17th:

I live in Thorndene Avenue in New Southgate, North London.
Easiest way to get to my house is to get the tube to either:

Southgate Station (Picadilly line)
Totteridge and Whetstone (Northern Line)

From either of these stations you would then need to take the 125 Bus to my house:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=528040&y=194019&z=1&sv=Thorndene+Avenue&st=6&tl=Thorndene+Avenue,+London,+N_11&searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp=newmap.srf

Google Map:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Thorndene+Avenue,+Barnet,+Greater+London,+N 11&spn=0.026746,0.063343&hl=en

However, if you are coming down in a group of people, PM me and I will give you my number. If there are three or four of you, give me a call when you are at the station and I will jump in TheGoldenGunman Mobile TM and transport you from the station to my house. It's not far from either station, but it is confusing if you don't know the area.

If you are planning on driving, best way to get here is to get on the North Circular Road and turn off at New Southgate.

Finally a few of you may know and may have been to Bass Ventura's place. If that's the case, I am suggesting hooking up with him before setting off here. He knows the way and it's one bus ride from there to here.

Lastly, I need a count of who is definitley coming. There's going to be a lot of people coming, so as of right now, you need to PM me if you aren't on the list. If you can't make it, let me know because that means someone else can come instead.

There are also some other players who I am hoping will come, but who have not yet confirmed. This session is going to be a trial run for something greater. The trocadeo will close sooner or later, so a few of us have been thinking about running sessions in a hall every other month. it's no arcade, but it if keeps the scene alive, it's all good. If we have a big turn out for this, then we will almost certainly run another similar session, so let's hope this one goes well.

EDIT: If you have any other questions, talk to me on MSN, the_golden_gunman@hotmail.com and maybe I can help you.

I'll try to come, if I can get time off work (which is very likely, as it's decent notice). If I do, I'll bring my camera to record some matches!

btw the vids from Ryan's house tournament the other week are up now, at
http://www.thehandvseye.com/
Right now the site is free access. But in about a month you'll need to log in (register on the forum I think).

To find the 3rd strike matches:
Click on the picture or button to get to the main page.
Then click on the Games Index tab (or the picture of Ken and some other random characters at the bottom of the page).

The results are: 1st Yusuke, 2nd Ryan Hart, 3rd chunkis, 4th Hax.

The 3s matches up there are .ASF file container, the video codec is ISO mpeg4 V1, and the sound codec is mp3 (if you have trouble playing the vids, use this info to find the right codec to play them)

Hopefully we could have a similar mini-tournament at Gunman's house if people want?
Tournaments bring out the best play under pressure. Some people (who only really play for fun) might find tournament tactics very cheap, boring and frustrating (esp if people use Chun Li or other top tiers lol).
But I think putting people under pressure like that helps them get better and more focused, and prepares them for real tournaments.
I know it's especially hard if there's a big gap (of skills, experience and knowledge) between yourself and the top players in your area. But if you want to get better, it's definitely the way to go ^^

Big credit to Vosor for hosting the matches on his website for free.

I was hoping you'd be free Chef. Yeah we'll run a tournament for sure on the day Don't expect a very good prize, however. I'll sort something out, but think budget, not brilliant  . I'd rather someone with previous experience looked after the tournament, but I'll run it myself if need be. Obviously if we do run them, we'll have to start it at a certain point, and anyone that shows up afterwards will have to miss out. One problem we might face however is what console to run the tournament on. I will likely only have two PS2's at my house (I will have 3 xboxes, however), and I know that most trocadero players will only play on this format. Whilst I do understand why they feel this way, this could slow down any tournament that is run. Chef, maybe you and I can talk about this on MSN sometime as how best to run something? I don't really want anyone to be burdened with running any tournamnet to such an extent that they cannot play.

PS: Chef, that is a wicked site to offer match videos like that, I was just thinking of torrenting the files after we capped them and distributing them via Shoryuken's Bit Torrent tracker. That way no-one has to face expensive overheads to offer downloads. Just a thought.

The Chef
06-19-2005, 07:13 PM
Nah the prize doesn't have to be big, or even anything more than a bar of chocolate or a coke lol
It's all about the experience and the atmosphere really.

Anyway you are right that if it's one person organising the tourney, they will be under a lot of stress and their performance usually suffers. Some people say that the person organising the tourney shouldn't really enter, but I have a better idea.
If there are at least 3 or 4 people running the tourney (one person in charge of course, with others keeping score and organising the matches), the burden is shared, and no one is under a great amount of stress. chunkis likes running 3s tournaments (he might organise one in a hall before the end of the year), and I can help of course.

One more thing is to start the tournament EARLY! I've seen too many tournaments drag on too late and inconveniencing everyone. I guess we will have to ask everyone what time they will arrive, and hope they are honest about it lol

I don't think I will have any problem playing on xbox.. as long as there is an adaptor that doesn't have lag or something, and unless the xbox version is faster like some people claim. Anyway two PS2s is enough for a small tournament with less than 15 people.

As for the site, yeah web hosting is very expensive nowadays, so you hardly got any websites offering free downloads anymore.
P2P such as Bit Torrent is the way of the future. But for now, we are lucky this guy is offering to host UK match videos for free :)

Also Hatim has told me about http://maps.google.co.uk/ which seems to give much clearer maps, and seems more reliable than streetmap.co.uk and multimap.com. You guys might want to use that too, just enter the address in the search bar.

Good stuff Im deffo up for it. The match vids are cool. I agree with Chef, make it real early if its gonna be a tourny! Ill get owned in the beginning..maybe..but at least we can finish the tourny off so everyone can stay that way.

To be honest, I've not heard of any reliable Xbox adapter that guarantees no input lag problems. I'm very certain that peeps will be bringing SC2 sticks, so I'm sure they'd prefer to play on ps2 anyway.

Yes, 2 x PS2s is normally sufficient to run a tourny.

']To be honest, I've not heard of any reliable Xbox adapter that guarantees no input lag problems.

Magicbox, zero input lag, byfar the best adapter available for the xbox.

Is thier really a difference between XBox and PS2 verions of 3s, the offline modes run at different speeds, I had no idea, which is closer to the arcade?

Edieman
06-20-2005, 03:53 AM
I use a magic box with Hori RAP T5. No lag at all.

A lot of people say the Xbox version is slightly faster than Arcade & PS2. It's a very minute difference however and I swear some arcade cabs e.g. Troc run faster than even the Xbox offline.

Overall, the general concensus is that the PS2 is Arcade perfect due to game speed.

OK, new map put up on my information post above. I'm suggesting 12:00 (mid-day) start for the tournament, though I expect we'll actually get rolling at 12:30. How does that sound?

PS: I'll try begging and borrowing for a few extra PS2's. There is a speed difference between XB and PS2. It doesn't bother me personally, but I'll try and sort it out anyway. PS2 is closest to the arcade, it's probably only about 1% out. XB is quite a bit faster, maybe as much as 5%.

If it's needed, i can bring ps2+3s too. I want to help in any way I can.

For me, the xbox-version is easier to perform high-lvl stuff on. Kara-srk, kara-palm, charge-partitions etc etc seem all to be more forgiving than with the ps2. But that's just me.

After looking at the vids i must say... i look forward to the session even more.

Vince: Cool of you to come mate! ;)

Edit: Oh and the magic-box handles the sticks without any lag whatsoever. Still... I think we all should play on ps2.
