Sorry to make a thread i know its probably been posted a while back, but i bought it a month back or sumthin and havent played it online yet, im just wondering if it is playable online or how does it compare to CvS2 online? I would rank CvS2 about a 7/10 for playability, how does this rank.
thanks in advance!

It really depends on the match. No one will tell you that they have ever played a game that is completely lag free. They are lying and/or have no sense of timing. It is present. On a good match though, it shouldn't effect your gameplay too much. Don't expect to go parrying Chun's SAII on que though.

Stay on cable and don't play anyone from Texas since you live in Canada. Lag at not too bad on 3rd st but sfae will make you pull your hair out especially on wake ups. Get ready to fight a marathon of Ryu, Honda's and Guiles. BTW I gave your friend Wolfy XXX a real beatdown on his justicehunta account. His benimaru sucks and only works in lag!

It all depends on the connections... I have the best cable connection money can buy it still lags like crazy sometimes, even when directly connected to the modem. Rarely will you get a connection that seems lag free. I have had a few that I can remember that felt very close to perfect. You will never get a perfect connection, its worth giving it a shot, but don't take the whole win loss thing too seriously or you will pull all your hair out and run for the hills.

Honestly, it's impossible to take online play seriously. The only reason I even bought the game and XBox Live was to play ST, because this is the only way I ever get to play it. If I had any competition outside of Live, I'd throw away Live in a second. I never play Third Strike online, or almost never. For whatever reason there's considerably more lag in 3S than SFAE, but I also have regular and decent competition in 3S in my arcade, so there's no need for it online. Because the amount of lag changes with each opponent and sometimes with each game or even during a game, you have to readjust to different timing almost constantly. Play too much Live, and your real-life timing will not be as good, especially in Third Strike. Live is fun, but losing to yourself all the time because of your inability to catch on to the new timing is annoying like craziness.

Here's a simple question. I didn't want to make a new thread so:
Can you react to a double down short in order to do Ken's Super Art 3?

Sometimes. I play Q, and I can only rarely hit confirm off a standing forward or a dash punch or even a jumping fierce, and I can do that all day in the arcade. If you get a great connection, yes, you can react like that, but for me, 3S is too laggy for that the vast majority of the time.
At first this game was great for me and had hardly any lag. Lately these past couple weeks has been pretty bad so I haven't touched this game in a while.

Depends on your connection and your opponent's connection. Usually if you both are using cable and have a good, steady connection, it won't lag too much. It still isn't like playing offline, but it's not that big of a deal. Just try not to have BT downloads or any other type of downloads and running a bunch of computers on the same router...that's always bad.

Nothing has changed on Xbox Live.
Xbox Live is Xbox Live, which equals "sh!t quality".

nothing to do with live as an infrastructure... its the shitty capcom netcode that's the problem.

I just find it incredibly annoying that I can't quick recover online for shit in online 3s. Like a constant reminder of how rubbish the conditions are, and totally messes up my flow.

The lag is whatever you want it to be. Just like when you were little and you could be as big as you wanted to be.

The lag in SFAC effect the game a lot more than CVS2. In CVS2 lag might cost you 20-30 % of your life if you miss block a crossup. In ST one miss block crossup = 70% of your life

Wanna cut down a bit on lag? Go buy CAT6 Network Cables! (Best Buy) I bought them, and there's been a noticeable difference. Still not arcade perfect though, but really close with another good connection.
