Chances are: If you run into people who use a variety of characters instead of whoring Ken SA3, Yun SA3, Chun SA2 and Urien SA3 and Gill, then those people are just playing casually and don't care about their rank.

Online really shouldn't be taken seriously anyways. It's real-life competition that matters.

Add me to your list. While I do use Urian SAIII and Chun SAII (Don't use Chun more than once or twice per person), I love to play Necro, Hugo, occasionally Alex, Yun (SAI), and Ryu. While I think it's fun to keep a record, I play for fun too.

People picks the characters they like, if someone plays Ken or Chun this doesn't mean they care 'bout their rank, not necessarily.
Also wtf with Urien + SA3? Urien is a middle-tier, he's screwed against shotos and Aegis reflector became an useless SA into noobs hands, only players that know what they're doing can use Aegis properly.
Still playing casually is mad fun and pink Sean owns for free. :badboy:

There is nothing wrong with playing casually online...
I'm not saying to not block incoming attacks or anything...but having someone give you a turtling tutorial is boring...

Sometimes, I wonder if some of those nasty 'good players' just love whooping on people with no mercy just to make us casual players feel like we shouldn't be playing SF at all. Or these rank whores would love to rematch and whoop on us inexperienced players just to build rank. It's like "Play real good (high level) or don't play at all. Of course, it's not always like that because I've met some cool people. And I've met good players who at least drop after 2 or 3 wins knowing that I suck.

thing is, when you are high rank, playing low rank players do damn near nothing to move up rank.
bottom line is that people supposedl;y rank whoring, beating up on noobs, or what have you, is mostly pure speculation.
am i high rank? do i play a shitty player for like 20+ games because its free wins? no. some people want the tougher comp and hope to learn or get better.
people also assume everytime(i should know, ive assumed this before, its natural) when you quit after 1 game, especially when you lost, that you are leaving cuz you got beat, when in fact, it could be because of unbearable lag, got an invite, or just had to go.
its all assumptions...
plus, keep in mind that 95% of the players dont really play sf, so they will go to the familiar characters that they remember from a long time ago, so its obvious that shotos will be picked the most, i would think after all these years, this would be painfully obvious after all these years, but i guess not.
some people like to win for their fun also, some people just like to mess around to get their fun. some people find their fun using 83645873687536 characters, some people find their fun using their one character. and yes, believe it or not, there are people that enjoy shotos, and they shouldn't be bashed for using them. you get bored of playing shotos, fine, just dont play em anymore. it has nothing to do with "whoring", do some people whore? of course, but not everyone.
i dunno, i think all this crap is moot point, totally trivial.

put it this way, when you're playing online either with a casual or rank whore mindset, if you come across someone that you know you're flat out beasting and there is no way they are going to rematch you basically just treat them like they are a training mode. You might try and get off some shit that you wont get anyone tight with.
This is a prime reason why sometimes whack ass players get wins of better players, cause they are going for elaborate setups and miss a critical EX somewhere down the line just to be 'runaway-akuma'd'

Yeah! Yun SA1!!! I had thought I was the only guy who plays Yun this way. I know how hax using SA3 can be so I try to avoid it. SA1 is great if you cancel from a m. or f. DP P

yeah he is. Mid-high. He has some nasty stuff, but once you learn how to fight him, he loses much power. He can be cheap, but he's not as solid as the top tiers and has bad matchups against shotos (Ken and Gouki mostly), Alex, Yang, Makoto.
Against anyone who knows how to fight Urien, landing an antiair sphere is near impossible, and you'll land a cHP only off a parry (which is NOT a solid way to deal damage).

I hate to say this, but I know the argument has always been that Online play should not be taken seriously, and real life competition matters, blah blah, where are people going to go to play? THis is not exactly Japan here with endless comp. I'd much rather sit at home and play online than drive 45 miles to some run down arcade with broken buttons and play the computer. I'll take lag over that ANY day of the week.

Thank you!
I've been saying that for a couple of years now since I've been playing on XBL. Most of these nerds pull the plug or quit before they lose in order to keep their dumb ass records. I recomend dating and other social releases for thes guys. It will work wonders for them, trust me.
