So... who's getting this for Xbox Live then?

I've got the PS2 version at the moment and yes, I know it's not the greatest game in the world but I like to think I'm at a fairly decent standard with Athena, Alba and Ryo. With no human competition though (no-one else round here wants to play it, heh), it's hard to tell. I just want to gauge what the interest levels are like, although I'll probably end up buying it anyway.

Yeah KOF MI is the 3D game. It's not bad at all and feels more like a 2D fighter than any other 3D fighter I've played with the exception of Fatal Fury Wild AMbition which was a pretty good game.

Still not a bad first effort to a 3D KOF. You can be sure MI 2 will be better.

I will be getting this as well to play occasional online matches but for sure most of my time will be spent playing KOF 2k2, 2k3, and Neowave on XBL.

The only thing that sucks is having to wait for these games to be released here in the US.

As Violent Ryo has already pointed out, yeah, KOF: MI is the 3d one.

I'll be getting KOF 2002 etc for Xbox Live too but I don't doubt that those games will have a fairly big fighting community online. I'm just curious to see what's going to happen to Maximum Impact, whether it garners a fairly decent online following or kinda drifts away as has happened to SVC Chaos.

I can't find the damn game anywhere. Best Buy, EB, Gamestop and a local place (Game Rhino) all said they hadn't received their orders yet.

Blockbuster said they should have their's in Friday, so i'll give it a rent.

this game is pissing me off everytime i get knocked down by someone using K (which is all people use so far), it turns into over 50% damage. 2 combos and im dead. it's a groove bison/sakura all over again

I am so NOT buying that. 3D versions of 2D games == BAD. I will not support such heresy.

SNK should just buy the rights to Rival Schools and do a badassed Rival Schools 3 for Live. I'd be all over that.

I don't know, I liked the SF:EX series for the fact that you can't get cornered into walls. The game was actually fun as well in my opinion.

Normally I would never buy from them nor would I suggest it to anyone, but if you really want the hat, it looks like this is your only option unless a local store happens to have some extras. I should be getting mine in today if their tracking is as accurate as I hope it is. I'll give a mini-review of the hat if I have time later.

Has anyone got a report on lag? This is one of those few very random games I'm looking forward to on Live. I have to say if it's laggy I'll probably just skip it, but the game itself is pretty fun.

It really shouldn't be an issue with lag at all. EVERY online game has lag here and there. Just buy what you want and deal with it. There's no getting around it unless both people are on a great connection.

If you want a reason to support it, how does getting a win for having your opponent drop sound to you? Hopefully SSV, Re-Bout, 02/03, and NeoWave do the same. SNK looks to be plotting a crusade against droppers.

Oh, not to mention the dope tournament cup mode.

Picked up the game today, and its pretty sweet. Didn't get too much time to play online (cable modem went out first for a minute or two, then a few hours..sorry to the 3 people I was playing in that time. Probably think I dropped), but it seemed to perform good online.

(Am I the only one that hates how the character selection process is set up for online play? :confused: )

For being a brand new game, doesnt seem like too many people are playing it so far. Does seem like most retailers are getting it in late, though.

My thing is that the game is extremely unrefined like other 3d games. I would seriously rather play DOAU. In most 3d games you can only "combo" so many ground attacks before you are forced to do a juggle combo. This game doesn't have that, you can chain a lot of shit together on the ground and then tack on a super at the end. There's no real footsie game, it's whoever can get a sweep first and then do 60% damage off of an otg combo. Not to mention the game can be extremely random, way more so than any other game i've ever played. You'll see when you sign onto live, that is if you can find anyone to play against.

yah, I remember playing it on PS2 against the cousin... It is pretty much like that. Combo into juggle then super. Sidestepping isn't as good as getting around things as it should be.

Seriously, I'd probably pick up the game and won't go online like I did for SVC and MK:D. Atleast DOA has the paper, scissors, rock element going for it.
I can pretty much wait for KOF next month without buying this one. Conkers seem pretty fun anyway. I'd pick that up over this one.

Yeah, same here(hell I already have it and Metal Slug 4&5 preordered), We'll get a lot of excellent replay out of that one instead.

Still thinking about Conker though. Maybe when it gets a bit cheaper.

This isn't out in the UK yet but it sounds like the game is doing pretty badly in the States. Hmm. A shame but I can't say I'm terribly surprised... is it really that hard to find someone to play against?

In all honesty, I don't know, I haven't spoken to the Ignition PRs for a while. Last I heard was end of July, which probably means early August (same for KOF 2002).

Will you be getting it bass? If I have my own account up and running when it comes out, I'll be buying CFJ, KOF 2002 then KOF: MI. In that order.

I dunno if its just me. But the game seems a tad bit too.. "choppy". *shrug* The priority of attacks is also really weird. Mai's aerial dive thing is ridiculous hehe.

Lots of messed up stuff in this game, wish I had it so I could explore it more in depth. Lots of people have it and challenge me to it all the time (meaning people who don't play games), Rock is really fun and has some really messed up throw setups / combos.

One day, I'll have an Xbox with Live and actually challenge people to this game...if it's not dead by then.

Nope.

I've been playing it since day1, and even when i've fought people in Singapore and Japan, they had a connection rating of either "good" or "very good". Though the game itself is just fair, its fantastic online.

Heres hoping that King of Fighters 2002/2003 on Xbox (comes out late next month) plays this well on Live :tup:

So far almost every match I played was lag free. Glitchy combos and weird priority moves are still there though.

Yeah, the game is practically lag free. Even when I play people from Japan, it's lag free (except for the character intros). Other than that, this game has the most lag free gameplay for a fighter out.
