I was just getting used to the game again using the controller. Well, I went out and got a SFAC joystick. Going to mod it with Happ parts. Now using the stick is so fucking hard. I'm keeping at it though. I haven't played with a joystick for years.
Well guess better late than never. Hopefully with the mod it'll be easier. I can't block low half the time (I have to push down hard to get it to work...thanks Nuby)
Oh well.....back to training mode...

well imo regardless of skill its just funner in general to use a stick. Who cares if its happ or competetion or w/e its just better al-together, imo.
but right now the only thing i got that works is a brand new hella stiff s pad. fucking sucks cause you can almost never block low with any new controls.
The game is simply more enjoyable with a stick so youll have a better time regardless of win/loss.

I'm going through the same shit right now. The button height bugs me more than the stick, but what's really killing me is trying to get the SRK motion down on the stick as opposed to the pads I've been using since around 1998.
On the upside, my hands feel a lot better now that I don't have muscle strain from the shitty s-controllers, and my thumb doesn't have the little sore spot from the PSX d-pad.

Stick with it man, even if you get batered nuff jus stick with it.
I was playing on pad from the days of sf2 on snes. Around 6 months ago I went arcade after ages and tried playin on stick, thats when I got torn a new asshole in public, from that point I thought to myself I am learning stick just so I can compete in the arcade. It's fun playing at home with friends or online but nothing beats the buzz you get from an arcade, and to play in the arcade you gotta know stick. Anyway after 5 or 6 months of playing on stick I can defnitly say that my ground game has improved and their's shit I can do which was just way to hard to do on pad. I wish if I had more time to practise my execution but I still mainly go for playing 2P rather then practise more shit.
It's a good chopice you made to go the way of the stick just make sure you stick with it no matter how frustrating it gets :nunchuck:
Um.. I'm using the same Dreamcast controller since I bought/downloaded the game which is.. Wow, over 6-7 years ago now is it? -Sheesh~
:tup: GL with the stick =) I tried using the Dreamcast stick (The one that's grey, white and green buttons) with this converter but it won't let me use all 6 buttons... T.T;

Yeah, I'm in the same situation I hate the Xbox controller for fighters so I bought the SFAC stick.....now I can't do shit, I realize I need to learn it but I'm terrible with it.
I can do SRK's without any difficulty, but 360's and 720's are straight out and I can only do qcf like 50% although I have no problem with qcb. I blame my left hand for all of this. I may have to play it "crosshanded" or whatever.

I think the problem with any circular motion on this stick has to do with the round joystick actuator not working as well as a good square actuator. It's all explained at: http://www.arcadestickmonk.com/SFACmod.html
At this point I've decided to mod mine, because that corner problem is causing about 75% of my super attempts to be misinterpreted as dragon punches.

Been practicing with the stick more now. Got my stick modded and stuff now. I'm slowlying getting used to this. I have a tendency though now to hit the buttons to fast (I played a lot of MvC2 and you can run up combos) and I realized I need to be more surgical with my game. Smooth movements and more practical. Less trying to hit buttons that'll chain into something. More like.....a dance kinda? One step two step..and so on.
Not one,two three and more stuff and assuming the game is going to keep up.

Stick with the, erm, stick and it'll come together. I've been using a stick for the last two months because I was frustrated at not being able to consistently do double half-circle motion on a pad, which kept from playing as Nakoruru in CvS2 and Clark in KOF2001. Now I can pull them off perfect and other stuff I've struggled with is starting to fall into place. Guy's CC in CFE that starts with two FF chains is an absolute piece of piss on an arcade stick. I had a bit of a headstart because I bashed the shit of out VF4 in the arcades but sticks make life much easier once you get the hang of them.
I'm still hamstrung by a pad for 3S because my housemates hate arcade sticks but it's definitely the way to go.

Dude stick is where it's at.
I got a stick that sucked ( a nuby SC2 one.) and sucked, played in arcades and could fare well but not with what i could do on a controller. I bought some pelican real arcades and used those to bloody hell, then I modded them and have been using them since...And now I can't go back to controller. I use stick, stick, and only stick. I can't play on a controller, AT ALL. The only thing I can still do better on controller other than stick is QCFx2 (like most the specials in SF3), I'm getting them down, so once I learn that, I'll be fine. >=D
