As I've been recently getting some emails and PM's about the delivery status of their package, I wanted to know if everyone that ordered stuff from me got their package ok. I get anxious too when someone asks me these, so gimme the relief! :)

Really fast delivery, extremely good service. I will certainly be doing business w/ you in the near future. For those who were skeptical (or paranoid rather) when EJM did the group order, I can assure you that there was no hoax/scam involved in any way. I didn't even do the order through EJM, got it directly from laugh himself. He's a very trustworthy fellow.
I didn't hesitate to order from him and sent him my payment fast, and received my package much faster than I expected. He got me the colors just like I specified and even went out of his way to make sure I got the brown switches (good ones).
Here's some proof:

Judging by circular black area around the shaft of the saulabi, I believe the stick is designed in the typical Korea style, even if it is a less quality build.Crown sticks have the same build so it would seem logical that a korean stick company keep that style.
The best thing you can do is open the saulabi and unscrew the stick off. Look for the slightly more than 1/2 inch high black, plastic area around the shaft (look at my "Fanta sticks" link above for reference).
2nd, the holes for the screws should be exactly 2 inches apart on the short sides and exactly 3 inches apart on the long sides.
If these 2 conditions are met, then yes, you can make the switch.

I was looking through the pictures and i wanted to know how the korean pushbuttons are compared to the sanwas? If i'm buying in bulk, might as well buy some buttons as well.

The buttons are pretty good. They give a little more resistance than Sanwa. They feel a little like Seimitsu buttons IMO. Mounting them you can use the standard 1 1/8 bit for the hole.

Crown Round Actuator Deco Switches (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stevedjm/detail?.dir=aaf7&.dnm=6774.jpg&.src=ph)
Good all around stick, identical to the FANTA but feels like it has a slightly longer throw.
Crown Round Actuator with Plate (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stevedjm/detail?.dir=aaf7&.dnm=588d.jpg&.src=ph)
Again it is a round actuator stick with a plate, small throw. I like the plate, lets me feel diagonals. Haven't had too much play time on it but I like it.
Crown Sqaure Actuator (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stevedjm/detail?.dir=aaf7&.dnm=3f5b.jpg&.src=ph)
This is like a Comp or Ult. Happ stick. But with a much smaller throw. Feels good, but I need to get more time playing on it to decide.
FANTA (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stevedjm/detail?.dir=aaf7&.dnm=aa81.jpg&.src=ph)
This a great stick, the more popular one found in the arcades. Fast, smooth, and short throw.
They are all good sticks but my 2 favorites are the Crown Round Actuator with Plate and the fanta.
As to which one is the best for SF, I really can't say. They would all get the job done. It's probably going to fall down to personal preference.

Oh, my good lord some of those switches are bent to hell! :wow:
But yeah, these sticks all look rather well-engineered and very good, and I sort of regret not buying a couple if only to check them out... Except for the deal with the thick, rubber, dust cover. I just find that hella unappealing.

EJM might still have some parts available if you PM him. I just ordered a few things from him. Thanks EJM

Great. Thanks for posting the confirmations w/ pics and all. I'd also like to know if the guys that ordered complete korean sticks got theirs alright.
As for the Saulabi sticks, I believe they come with some kind of stock fanta, according to the official website. They just don't seem to pay much attention to the actual performance of EACH stick, so some saulabi's are good while some aren't in fighting games. Interchanging the stick part on saulabi should be no prob, imo.
Oh damn! I thought the K-part order project was cancelled!
Crap, so who bulk ordered? EJM? If so, what did you order? Do you have any spares? I had a somewhat big order going but as I said before, I thought the plan was terminated...
If possible, do you have AT LEAST one spare Fanta you could hook me up with? PM if possible.
laugh
05-31-2005, 12:29 AM
It WAS cancelled, after that people just PM'ed me and got them individually.
Ah, okay. The last time I posted here was when the ordering was still going on so I did not know. Still, would've been nice to know that somebody was still going to bulk order...

Okay, this is starting to come up a lot. Many people now want to put korean sticks in HRAP.
The quick answer is "NO," you can not just simply drop the korean stick into a HRAP.
If you wish to do it you are going to have to do some modding. There are no mounting holes on a korean stick that correspond to anything on a sanwa. You are going to have to dremmel to make it fit.
Also you are going to need a clearance inside the HORI of about 2" to properly mount it. If not you are going to have the huge dust cover sticking out which will make it look bad.

GREAT shit. Good to FINALLY know that it's in your hands. It's so light, I was surprised. Put a brick in there and make it stable or something if you are gonna play on a surface.

I just played with the "sticknara" i bought to Laugh.
The case is very light, but doesn't move on my knees. I like the design.
It's right, WD is a lot easier with korean sticks. I WD pretty good with Sanwa, but with korean i WD a lot easier and... FASTER. I must adapt myself cos' i'm sure i lost execution time.
The stick is very smooth and accurate.
Buttons are sensitive, not like sanwa's but it doesn't matter. Layout is good.
So one of the best stick i have. And cheap.
It was a really big pleasure to deal with Laugh. You can trust him with blind eyes.

More like an inbetween? I'd say slightly more like american, but then it's not that similar anyways. It's more like an american stick only because of the round rotation, instead of the japanese square.
It's very light though, not even close to the stiffness of american sticks.
Fast inputs.

i wrote a long post talking about the korean stick feel, but in the end it got too confusing.
but i'll probably never buy another stick again after using this. it really was a surprise the first time i tried it for tekken. i was doing the same exact motion i was doing for american sticks for certain movements, but on american stick it didn't work, and on korean stick it works. with street fighter, american and japanese sticks are good enough, but for tekken if you want to wd well and easily, you should get korean. you haveta take care of it though, i wouldn't recommend it for marvel though with all the mashing and stuff.

Hey, what's the brand name on those Korean buttons? I think I might get some to replace the clunky stock buttons on my Saulabi.
edit- Or, do Seimitsu/Sanwa buttons fit inside it? I have the SPS-3000 (found it for cheap in Seoul) and it'd be way easier to find JP buttons to put inside.

sebiel - The buttons are Crown. Crown is the way to go when it comes to Korean buttons for sure. I doubt a Sanwa/Seimitsu button will fit in a Saulabi's button hole.
hanz0 - You can order through PMs with me. I take paypal and I do ship internationally. :)

I don't know the inches and such for the holesaws, so I'll just tell you their diameter in mm and you can choose the right saw.
Crown buttons = 28mm
Start buttons = 24mm
Stick hole = 34mm

k i guess i can use a 1-1/8" (happ) holesaw for the buttons, 15/16" for the start buttons, and i'll have to find one for the stick, 1-3/8" sounds seems good though

Hey laugh. What is the correct way to mount these sticks?
You should mount them from the bottom, since you have to have something to equal the height of the little plastic stick base that juts out.

Cheers laugh, so it sits flush with the top panel.

I think it's about 2cm tall, but the more important question is how much of it should be exposed above the top panel. I'd say 2mm should be exposed above the top surface, since that's how much Fanta sticks are exposed when you install them on the latest Crown cabinets.

I'd like to order some korean sticks, but I don't know wich one is the best for Tekken.
I know that the korean top players play with the green fantas, but I don't know, if they have hard or normal spring.
I found this stick on the saulabi website, but I guess it's only a fanta immitation

Are there any Tekken players here who can help me out  ?

I'd say the best for Tekken is without doubt the Fanta with normal stiffness. I think I qualify as a Tekken player cuz I do play DJ in DR. Most people don't like too stiff of a rubber (not spring, since korean sticks don't have springs). That's why if you use one for several years, the rubber wears out slowly and makes it a little softer.
That stick you linked to is not a immitation but has real Fanta stick inside.

I'm thinking about modding a saulabi stick, because I don't have enough time and nerves to build anoter custom one
I've also found a shop who sells saulabis from netherland (www.saulabi.nl), so I don't have to order my stick from play-asia.
Now my first question is, is it difficult to mod it? Here are some pics of Han from Korea with his modded saulabi stick.

Right, Fanta sticks don't have a separate restrictor plate.
Since Saulabi sticks use shitty stock Fanta sticks, the replacement process should be just as easy as 1) take the old one out, 2) drop the new one 3) wire it up and enjoy.
I do ship internationally and for 1 Fanta and 10 Crown buttons, it would cost about 63 US dollars including shipping. If you want express shipping, which takes 3-5 days to deliver, it should cost about 72 USD total.
Are the buttons on the Saulabi bad or something? I thought at least the buttons would be ok. If you don't include 10 buttons in to the calculation, then you can knock off 20 bucks right there.

Ok, then I'll only take the green fanta. I was a little bit worried about the buttons, because of my american T5 Hori. I thought, since they are not using original arcade parts for the saulabi, the buttons would be as bad as the T5 Hori.

If you look, the top blob and the blob on the right is the same blob connected through a path on the pcb (you can see it in the photo). The one on the left is the other contact spot. So you would more likely connect one of the wires to the top spot, and then the other wire to the left spot.
