Man, its amazing how much I like looking at other peoples Wallpapers. How does deviant art work? I saw quite a few links in this thread where people made alot of their own art.

Foobar is ColumnsUI and ELPlaylist, and yeah the shell is Litestep. I use very little components/modules for either so luckily they use very little memory.

I use Stylish to change how the forums look.

It's ridiculously simple

1.) Open the .png file in preview (transparent image/icon)
2.) Select all + copy
3.) Right click + Get info on the application you want to change
4.) Click on the icon on the top left
5.) cmd + v and the .png copy will show up
6.) Done

You can cmd+copy the icon in the get info pane as well for either .png or .icns files

Try Zixpk, Interfacelift, and Desktoptography - that's where I get most of mine.

Anyway, here's (http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/197/deskt3.png) mine. It was a summer project of mine to get this desktop setup going, it's made with a few programs, mainly Rocketdock and Rainmeter.

Starting from the top left, going clockwise:

1. A small RSS feed reader, for webcomics.
2. A larger RSS feeder, for News/Blogs
3. Launchy, a small program that lets you search for files anywhere on your PC from your desktop. Really easy for when I feel too lazy to make a bunch of clicks. It's usually hidden until I need it though.
4. A calender, in big 'ol bulky style.
5. Weather feed, 3 day forecast for my hometown. However, it looks kinda bad because I forgot to give it enough space for the calender when the month's name is longer :lol:
6. Slideshow, with a bunch of wallpapers / pictures I like, but won't really use as desktop backgrounds
7. To do list, which you can change at will
8. Quote of the day feed from Google
9. Misc. PC stats (CPU, RAM, Power, Hard drive space, IP, DL/UL speeds
10. Link to my HDD (which currently isn't here so it's not showing any stats. Normally it shows the space left
11. A Clock / winamp playlist display, shows you the song name / time left, and I hooked up minilyrics to go below it so I can get lyrics if I feel like singing along.
12. CD Art display to show the album art/other info, rating, and playlist controls
13. Rocketdock, with links to pretty much every part of my computer and a few programs I use on a daily basis. This also stays hidden until I need it, I just brought it up for the sake of the pic.
14. Oh yeah, there's also a background picture in there too :lol:

This is probably one of the geekiest things I've done, but I'd be a liar to say I'm not proud of it.

EDIT: Suppose I may as well post my desktop once again. Minor changes since last time, namely a re-writing of my Rainmeter weather skin to use AccuWeather instead of weather.com.

I need to get around to learning how gadgets work in Win7 so I can migrate over to it. It's a lovely OS, it's just that anything you stick to the desktop won't show up in Aero if you hit "show desktop" - or more relevantly if you use Aero Peek.

The problem with Launchy is that it takes up a huge amount of system resources, and I mean mostly processing power. Since it has to constantly index through your files, your cpu is always working harder, mine was around 50-60% all the time.

Rainmeter is kinda the same way, and it's also hella annoying. You can't make it not start up on desktop as there isn't an option to. This is just some of the general features it's lacking.

Yeah, but I don't use a lot of resource intensive programs on my PC very much anymore, so I don't mind it that much.

Oh also, I have AutoHotkey installed in order for me to make my taskbar/start menu transparent at the push of a button, it's fun to freak people out by clicking invisible links :lol:

Yeah, Launchy takes up a lot of resources. Doesn't really matter for you folks with top of the line rigs, but for the rest of us... that sucks. Besides, Executor is better and more customizable.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I have both Launchy and Rainmeter running at all times and I idle at ~1% CPU usage....

Big thanks to the guy who posted about Johns Background Switcher. Thats an awesome little program to have. I forever change my wallpaper, no need to anymore as the switcher will keep it interesting for me!
