It could be a confusing way of him saying that the video seems to be just over glorified with the fact that you guys are actually just hitting an opponent who's really just standing there, perfectly still... waiting to get hit. (ala training mode) You know, you always have one of these guys come in the thread. Some people assume every combo you do has to be 150% practical and tournament applicable. (although, most of the stuff in the vid seemed to be.) I could be wrong. But it's rare you make a combo vid thread, and a hater doesn't pop in. Like I said. I'm not him, just saying it could be what he means. Not everybody feels that way, cuz some actually play the game and understand what's going on.

A good example is in the beginning. Ken vs Ryu. It appears that Ken is just whaling on a training mode Ryu. "OMG! All that doesn't even combo. LAME!!!!!!" But to the rest of us, who actually understand 3S, we see the point being made there. Escpecially the second jump kick attempt appearing to be a crossover, then stopping in front. Some get it, some don't.

Another point is the next scene. Urien vs Hugo. Headbutt, d.jab, dash, EX Headbutt. To some people.. "OMG... that EX HEADBUTT doesn't hit. He's just not blocking!!!!111!!!!" Correct. But to us Urien players, in that scenerio, we know the deal. By the time Urien recovers from the dash, even Uriens jab (his quickest normal) will lose to Hugos throw. Good Hugo players know that. But the headbutt is basically instant. So when Hugo tries to throw, and Urien pulls a surprise charge partioned headbutt out the dash OOOH NOESS Hugo WILL get caught in that headbutt and it's pretty much GGPO unless he parrys the reflector setup after that. Kara-demon with f+mp. There's an Akuma player I play with that does it. It's decieving as hell (atleast to me anyway, I get caught by that shit a lot). I dunno if you can jump out of it. It probably has a really tight timing, but the kara makes it almost instant-grab IIRC

Kara raging demon. Only way to get out of that one, is to jump before the black screen. The Raging demon (watch the vid carefully) is kara cancelled from the overhead chop (f+strong). I've never tried it in 3S, but in CvS2, its:

f+wp+mp, wp, f, wk, fp

The f+wp+mp gives you the overhead chop, but still counts that jab as the start of the raging demon. You just have to tap the whole thing in in succession sorta fast. Anywho, what happens is, the f+fmp starting frames activates your guard animation. But seeing as it's kara'd, the f+strong never actually hits you. So technically, there is no guard stun. That's the key. Raging Demon is a throw(technically). Throws can grab you from guard animation, but not guard stun. There is a difference. If jump in with a meaty FP with Akuma (land the jumping FP really deep) you block it, I can't throw you as I land cuz you are in guard stun from my attack connecting. That's why Makoto's kara s.short~command grab can grab people out of their guard animation as an opp wakes up, when it's done late enough to activate guard animation, but early enough to not hit and avoid guard stun.

The reason why it works (I'm not a exact sure about the frame data here, so cut me some slack people) for the sake of argument, I'll make up frame numbers. But frame counts, is why it works. That's all you need to know. Point blank range, Raging demon gives you 1 frame to escape. If you are neutral, you can jump away because it's only 1 frame between neutral and jumping. But it takes 2 frames of animation to go from ducking to jumping, or blocking to jumping. So do the math. 2 Frames required to jump vs 1 frame required to grab. GGPO The kara raging demon grabs you point blank like that if you are ducking, ducking block, standing block, or poking. The only one it doesn't grab is standing neutral, and jumping before black screen. Now think about what you as a character would be doing in that situation. The odds that you say standing neutral are very slim. And jumping away, slim too I would say. Cuz Akuma is notorious for random poke to hurricane kick to stop people from jumping away. Especially against Urien. :shake:

Sorry for the long post. :blush: But I just want to make sure anybody who saw that and had a question like that as well was perfectly clear on what they were looking at, and why it works.
