cheh, it's like I'm the complete opposite of ya when it comes to this topic....so whenever this type of thread comes up it's always fascinating to me. I'm all about getting clothes as cheap as possible that still look good or just "good enough". One of my favorite collared shirts I got recently came from a damn Walmart, and it cost about 8 bucks....I think the same day I picked up some regular denim shorts for 15 and some change.

*Johnny Cupcakes? that looks...pure women's fashion. :confused: It's quite..."girly" from what I've seen on that site so far.

*Nashville = tons of college-age white people here that have the generic MTV look. I'm still lovin' the girls that wear those super-short ruffled style skirts(*usually abercrombie/fitch or Von dutch or some knockoff clone). It is grade-A quality HOTNESS. I hope those little skirts never go out of style.

Black people here = same deal for the past few years I guess....either a bit on the preppy/casual side, or the lame ass(imo) thugged out style. There are no variants...this is it. Of course I lean more towards the casual/preppy side with the collared shirts and overall "clean cut" look. Other than that I'm a regular tshirt/jeans/white sneakers(usually Nike) guy.

dunno about finding rare fitteds. i'm long overdue for a couple of new ones myself. actually i basically just stick to rocking a yankees or la fitted. the only other fitted that caught my eye was the mlb and nba all over that was released this past spring/fall/winter. but hopefully someone else can post a site with rare fitteds.

and the bapes site is most likely fake. any site with them under 180 is fake. most of the time you'll see them around 210+. all of the cool colorways are sold out most of the time anyway.

how to tell the fakes:
1. ugly boxed toe
2. look at the back of the shoe. the registered r connects to the bapes text.
3. the star on the side of the sneaker is puffy.

The clothes I wear consist mostly of t-shirts of stuff that I like (bands, stuff I find clever, people I find interesting)...jeans or khakis and a pair of chucks. Or my vans slip ons. I like my style, its simple and I don't have to try hard like a tool. Of course I have some nice clothes, but my everyday wear is simple.

I still can't fathom spending hundreds of dollars on Evisu jeans.

Jeans/Khakis + button-up or polo-style pull over, or huge t-shirt. White shoes or dress shoes depending on the pants.

Well...I work in an office full-time, so most of my wardrobe is business-casual stuff. ie. slacks, dress shirts, and golf/polo shirts.

When I'm chillin' it's t-shirt and jeans. If I want to look nice I'll wear a golf/polo shirt and jeans.

As for shoes, I only own two pairs of shoes (not including loafers or cheap sandals): a pair of beatup Dr. Martens that I wear 99% of the time, and a hella old pair of Nike's that I only wear when I'm wearing shorts (ie. never).

As for namebrands, I don't pay attention to them too much, but there are a few that I gravitate towards:

Levi's, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hillfinger (ok, it's one pair of jeans, so sue me), and Dockers.

I rock etnies sneakers since i'm on my feet alot, skateboard sneakers are really comfortable. Mine are black/grey and I have red laces in them to match my hair and nails.

the first ones are real. the colorway is ass though IMO. also, i don't fuck with non patent leather bapes. might as well get an air force one IMO. two and three are fakes. the fourth ones, the pic is real. the person talking about he can get all sizes for 60 dollars and all that shit, BULLSHIT. the store in soho doesn't even have a full stock of bapes at any given time so you know joe blow from utah doesn't have shit and when they do the ranges are around 180+.

Besides anything obvious, how could you tell if Airs are Factory variants or not? I know when I go to the Nike and Timberland outlet some shoes are variants or deemed irregular.

it goes as deep as comparing serial numbers, stitch count and stitch patterns, certain logos either on the tongue or on the heel (like chocolate dunks, west indies af1 etc) being reversed, too high, too low or the stiching too thick or thin or if there is lettering being too far spaced in or spaced out and over sized beat up shoe boxes with angled labels.

as for old sb dunks, short stuffed tongues are a no brainer..

as for online shopping:
all i can say is if its too good to be true then most likely they are fake for example: if seller on ebay or websites have multiple pairs of a very uncommon shoe especially OLD co.jp stuff like atmos af1, halloween dunks etc in mass quantities and in various sizes that obviously hasnt been re-released and stuff like that.

people who are really into shoes all look into shit like that. all you can do is compare pics to a legit website like retrokid.com or niketalk where people post what they recently copped.

i used to sell some fake shoes to idiots who jumped the bandwagon when they saw everyone else "collecting" shoes. :tup:

well from the site:

All Evisu jeans are made of vintage selvedge denim. This means that the denim is made on old style shuttle looms rather than modern projectile looms.

In simple terms this means that the cross thread in the weaving process goes back and forth during the weaving process. But modern looms, shoot each cross thread through individually, hence the edge of the cloth is frayed rather than clean (although brands who are only interested in making quick money, try to cash in by faking the smooth selvedge by stitching up the frayed edge afterwards). No shuttle looms have be made for over 40 years as they can only make cloth about 30 inches wide whereas projectile looms can make fabric 60 inches or even wider for much less money.

All the looms that make Evisu denim are practically antiques and about as reliable as a 50 year old car. Because the fabric made on these looms is so narrow we need approximately 3 yards to make each pair of jeans. To maximise the usage, the traditional method was to have a straight outside seam and cut right up to the selvedge so that when you turn the jean up you see the two selvedge edges of the denim stitched together. You can also see it on the inside of the coin pocket.

Also, all of our denim is indigo dyed by loop dying machines. Again, these are rare and ancient machines which basically feed a rope of cotton yarn through vats of indigo dye and then back out and up to the roof of the factory to allow the indigo to oxidise before the 'rope' goes back down into the next vat. Evisu denim has a minimum of 16 dips and some styles have 30 dips, hence the deep blue colour.We use 100cotton threads which are more authentic but break more easily during the sewing process. We reproduce the original production techniques at every stage.

This means using a large number of specialist sewing machines which have not been produced for many years. For example, we chain stitch the hem which gives the thick stitch line visible around the hem when you turn the jean up. This requires a special machine which again has not been produced for 40 years. Wherever possible we try to use Union Special machines which were the Rolls Royce of sewing machines in the US in the fifties. Many of our styles then have the logo hand painted on.As a result of all this and a host of other details relating to every raw material and process our jeans cost many times the price of normal jeans to produce.

From what I understand other jeans companies make much larger profit margins than we do.All this obviously leads to the next question: why do we bother? In simple terms it is the result of the Japanese fascination with details and because everybody associated with Evisu from Mr. Yamane (the Japanese owner of Evisu) down are denim 'maniacs'. This is Yamane's term by which he means something like having obsessive, almost trainspottery love for denim. Denim produced on shuttle looms is naturally irregular and these irregularities come out as the jeans fade, making every pair develop into a unique and beautiful pattern as it fades.

The deep blue colour and the way the jeans fade can only be achieved by using the loop dying system and all the other details give the jeans a combination of authenticity and the knowledge that you have something that is a labour of love that no other jeans or probably any other item of clothing, in the world can give you.We understand that for many people these things are not important but for those who appreciate this level of craftsmanship, we believe Evisu jeans are worth every penny.

I usually wear tshirsts with a sports logo on them such as nike are reebok. They go with jeans/jeanshorts and tennis of the same name brand. If I go casual, it's sometimes kahki or other different colored type of jeans with a ralph lauren shirt of some sort weather it be chaps or polo. I also wear Timberland boots alot. But when I'm just bumming it up, you'll find me in a weird tshirt (whoop ass, big johnsons or something like that) and some sweats with tennis. I don't usually leave the house when I'm bumming out except for to forage for food. I don't believe in spending obscene amounts of loot on clothes. The most expensive piece of clothing that I own are my 3 pairs of timbos and 3 custom made suits that I have.

They got some at the outlet in North Carolina for $90. But any Timberland outlet should have them. I've seen them in the outlet at Lancaster too. Prices seem to range during different time periods though. All the other colors good or bad cost less. I got my Tan field boots and black field boots their for $60 a piece. Plus some hikers for $40. In a retail store the lowest I've seen for butters was $110.

at the nautica outlet @ jersey gardens and for the RL polos yeah any macy's should have them...the one on 33rd should def have them (NY tax is a bitch though, so go to newport in jc for that 3% tax :woot:) tommy has some nice polos too especially if you're into bright colors.

I mostly wear Obey Giant. Although I do have a Carbon Robot shirt that basically makes fun of Arnold Schwarzenegger and one that says Obey Giant is commercial.

But there's a record store over here that gets all kinds of nice clothes. And I want to buy some PF Flyers shoes. (They have them here... yes, exactly like the ones on the Sandlot.) They also have an Obey Giant Biggie Shirt that is pretty hard to find. It's too sick though.

I like a lot of the shit that Obey has, but It's not comfy enough for the price. The style's great but if it doesn't feel good, fuck it.

They ship out your clothes extremely fast. I ordered a hoodie and three shirts. The hoodie is fucking great, but the three shirts were all WAY too small for me (their XL is closer to a medium than XL). Also the t-shirts were made out of paper-thin fabric that I knew wouldn't hold up in the wash for very long, so even if they fit I would've sent them back.

So, fast forward three months. Digitalgravel.com hasn't sent me my storecredit for the three shirts ($60) and they also aren't even answering my emails anymore.

Fuck you, digital gravel, you owe me fucking money.

^true. i could get the multi colored hoodie but i just got a new job as a computer tech and i'm trying to save the money from this job so that i'll have more than enough for 2 months rent plus other fees for when i move back home to ny. you know how expensive that can be, so...

add to that that i want the new marvel x bapes (captain america ones). i'll see how my money's looking around fall and consider getting a bape hoodie. some are around 200 on the other sites though. the second, camo hoodie is WAAAY too expensive. hot but way too expensive.

na, sorry. actually i can't find a good hoodie period(that makes me want to buy it asap) in any price range. =/ hope others have cool sites to find some hoodies on. i was actually thinking about getting rid of the middle man and just making my own hoodies.

i don't think its fair or right to price hoodies at 450+ though. thats just rediculous. thats not even the price in the store.
what kind of materials could you possibly be using to justify the price?

i could see if it was like a 1/10, made of the finest cotton, hand sewn labels, maybe signed or something on the inside, etc. but those hoodies are not.

That's still pretty damn expensive just for a hoody. Depending where your buying from that's what, at least two pairs of Bapes (sneakers). Fashion is fashion but I can get multiple hoody's, flight jacket's, coats, etc that are much more serviceable and in far better color schemes for that much. That's a helluva splurge, at least by my means.
