I wonder how? To my knowledge, Chizuru damn near sucked in KOF '97, and was vastly improved in KOF '98...however, not to the point she could be considered "cheap". She was dangerous, yes, but not as easy as, say...Iori or Daimon. At any rate, I would probably pick her '96 or 2003 versions...and even there, Maki is a lot, LOT more scarier.

I totally agree, we need another KOF '98. That game had all the characters up to date plus new ones and like the whole fuckin' Orochi family as secret characters. I don't get why they keep leaving characters out. I mean some fans like other characters better than others and get pissed when they don't see them come back or have some new character in one game and just like that BAM! they're not there in the next. I am kinda happy that Malin is back but my dream team would have to be Heidrien, Lucky D., and Yashiro. Fuckin' Lucky D. is the shit dude, that guys got hops!!! i think they just do it when it suits them, but im going to guess if characters like rock are included it will be for console only since they did that for 2k2 and neowave, it gives arcade players another reason to get it i feel and just helps with sales.

With KOF the usual excuse was that the Neo Geo hardware couldn't handle all the new characters and animations. But now that they have started using the AW hardware that reason won't fly anymore. I get wanting to change things but a few of the teams almost seem like they mashed them together (Kim not having a team of his own nor one for the Ladies team).

Either way the game does sound nice and the new characters that I have seen appear seem pretty good. Like I said hopefully this isn't really the full cast and that by its end of the year release the game will include a few more since it seems a waste and points toward rushing to leave the roster so compact (by KOF standards).

Sammy told Noise Factory to make NeoWave. It was Sammy´s initiative, not SNKP´s.

If they put everybody in this game, then what would be the point of having characters like Big, Geese, Mai, Robert in NGBC? If they put everybody in this game, then what would be the point of having Saisyu in NeoWave? If they put everybody in this game, then who would they bring back next game?

People are happy when older characters come back (see Eiji, Duck). If they were there every year, who would care? "Gosh, i´m so excited Athena is in the game this year!" or "Whoo-hoo! Ryo is in KOF! That´s the 13th KOF he´s in! I can´t wait!".

And since when 33 characters, plus 3 bosses is a small roster (that´s without considering ff the rumor is true, which would mean 42 characters total)? Garou has 10 characters, so what?

And the Atomiswave can´t handle some huge impossible roster with all 75+ characters from KOF. It´s Naomi´s poor cousin! The thing even has loading times, for Christ´s sake!

Roster dicussions suck ass. For every person happy Choi is gone, there´s someone unhappy (forgot he´s really popular in 2002 and NeoWave?). For every guy praising Duck´s inclusion, there are 100 (probably more) complaining about the absence of Mai. Same for Chang and Jhun.

Just deal with it. No roster will EVER please everybody, since having them all is impossible. Even if they moved to a super-powerful board, having the whole cast would mean the game would be completelly unplayable - with a dozen "Duo Lons" and twenty "Chois".

Well, Choi was popular because he was a scrub character. You could make the dorkiest design in the world, but if it's overpowered and scrubby, people will "like" the design.

Personally, I wish Choi would revert to his KOF95 style, which was quite fair, with supers form the later games (but not the Kim ripoff one)

as for handling a bunch of characters, Neowave had 44 and did fine with it, minus the load times (which are stupid, someone should have put more RAM in it). Oh well, hopefully it will get emulated someday so that the load times are gone/people will get to play it outside of Asia. Doubt the US will ever see this game outside of an import anyways.

That being said, I actually think XI has potential, especially if the judgement system isn't as bad as everyone says it will be.

As for another dream match- that will likely have to wait two more games, if SNK follows its current pattern, so, say , 2009?

I get that the roster needs to changed up but to me I feel as if they haven't put enough characters in it. Maybe it is because I first got into the series between '99 and '01 where they did have a few more characters but I feel they could at least have a team or two more. The only characters I am really missing are Leona, Joe and Andy, but even if they just added new characters in their spot I wouldn't feel the need to think that 33 seems small to me.

I feel it could easily be bigger, it isn't as if they haven't and don't have time to add the characters. KOF is no longer is on a yearly schedule not to mention spacing out the time between the release of this and NGBC can only give that game a better run (unless it sucks, which I hope isn't the case).

Yes ive talked with someone else about this, we agree turning off the tagging changes the gameplay.
Certain ova powered characters lose an advantage, because you cant get taged raped.

As for the new teams not sure bout the Ikari team but aleast now shingos wet dreams have been realized his on kyos team.
And as for iori and kyo been on the same team its not the 1st time their were together on kof03 unoffically if you will, as you know they were in the same team line in the character select screen with random inbetween them.
Which was really Chizuru spot if you play the game with those three u get the real ending to 03.
It actually goes further back than this beacuse kyo and iori had to join 2gether to defeat Orochi (97ending).
After that their beef kinda died down where as b4 iori actually wanted to kill kyo now he just wants to beat him. think as it of goku and vegeta beef if ur into dbz @ 1st vegeta wants 2 kill goku then he just wants 2 be better than him.

Probably because they were based on KOF 94 sprites and the newer and more fluid (somewhat) KOF sprites.

x.o the hell? i thought bao was supposed to be like 10 in KOF 99, & hotaru was 16 in garou which was supposed to be set in 2008(?) so they'd be ABOUT the same age, right?

That's for damn sure. Down with the "SuperEagle" and the blurry, until they completely redraw everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) ala SF3, keep them the way they've been looking.
