ok this thread is for the use of expressing my opinion so you do not have to repliy if u don't want to.

Let me start with I'm just tired of reading up on everyone talking about mvc2 like its carbage or something.
First of all to everyone that like mvc2 and hate the game. this is a team base game so which mean certain assist characters will me mashed on. if you have a problem with that go and play 3s or tekken 5 please.

Second. Every game has its top teir from tekken to street fighter. Tekken 4 and 5 is by far the worst games ever. I mean one lunch and you lose have your life and depending on if your on the wall or not 50% to 70% damaged after one hit, man whatever. Tekken tag was good but thats the past, So to all and I do mean all you people that say tekken 5 is greater than MVC2 just put the crack pipe down. Now that mainly go's out to people hating on mvc2 and actually try to explain why mvc2 is garbage and tekken 5 is great. I love tekken, been playing it since tekken 2 but when 4 came out man I just lost all respect for tekken. Huuuuuuuu Tekken Tag R.I.P

And last about 3s ,cvs2,ggxx. Now if u want a game a requires skills then I agree play 3s. But don't expect to have fun playing it. 3s=skill..but not fun.

You want to play a game that requires little or no skills but where by anyone can win if you just hit that person in the air. play TEKKEN 4 or 5.

If u want to play a game that requires skill but not the type of skills that 3s required. a game that at time is random but never the less is still fun. A game where someone who just started playing the game after 1 week will never win against someone who been playing for years(i.e Tekken 4 and 5) well play MVC2 or GGxx both or equal IMO.

I can probably most of you guys at this game. Rush in to get mad air combo in, if fail back out and either spam helpers then rush that shit down again rinse and repeat. When everyone has the same attack patter with everyone, then I think we have a problem.

I like 3s even though I suck at it. MVC2 is a great game and its a perfect example of how far people will go to innovate a game they love and find tactics to give them the slightest edge in a tournament match. Now, I believe there are many games that have much more glitches than this, but the only reason people haven't found out is because there is no other game where people devote as much time and attention to trying to bend the rules of a fighting engine. Its like the matrix: once you figure out all the rules and find ways to bend them, it opens the doorway to things you shouldnt be able to do. Many people hate the game because it seems that their are only 4 characters because different varriations of the same characters are used alot in tourneys. Even though in this game, the rules seem to be bent in favor of a select few characters, every character has the potential to win. Alot of players have proven that. Take a look at Vegita-X's Rogue/Storm/T-bonne which according to the "rules" should get raped by Santhrax and Justin's Morigan/Gambit/Cyke which some people would laugh at until they see him play it. Who really took Demon Hyo seriously when they first saw him pick Magneto/Iron Man/Anakaris? And Jmar constantly plays people who try to counter his MSS with MSP and he still finds a way to comeback. In my opinion, this game is alot more fun for people who ignore the rules.

People will always diss a fighting game cause they either suck, don't play the game, or they are bored. You can't compare 3D fighters with 2D fighters in ANY aspect other than the fun factor. And even the fun factor is only your personal opinion, because IMO Third Strike is the "funnest" fighting game to date.

Man, if the entire lot of you hasn't figured it out yet, fighting games are pretty god damn stupid. Every fighting game ever made starts out just fine, but with time and discovery, we begin to pick the game apart, soaking it into two inevitable phases.

The first phase is continous discovery. Finding out what links into what, what beats out what, how many supers, developing a basic fundamental base for tiers, and so on and so forth.

The second phase is the inclusion of the first, but with bullshit. A grand amount of simplicity that cuts the game in half. It's not so much simplicity as it is effectiveness. This sets the tiers into place, and the game slowly dies from there on.

Which basically means you deal with the bullshit and build up on the basics, or don't ever play the god damn game you keep complaining about. After a certain point of skill in any fighting game you almost automatically tolerate the bullshit because you know ways around it / dealing with it, no matter how god awful it is; roll cancelling, MSP, unblockables, whatever.

Just face it, there will never be a game without bullshit, so sit back, tolerate the bad, and enjoy the good. Leave everyone else be with whatever it is they're playing.

I'm pretty much average (maybe a bit higher) in whatever I'm playing, but I love playing every god damn fighter I can get my hands on. Being able to go from MvC2 to Tekken 5 is a blast, and it's honestly your loss if just stick to one game.

Let me start with I'm just tired of reading up on everyone talking about mvc2 like its carbage or something.
First of all to everyone that like mvc2 and hate the game. this is a team base game so which mean certain assist characters will me mashed on. if you have a problem with that go and play 3s or tekken 5 please.

Second. Every game has its top teir from tekken to street fighter. Tekken 4 and 5 is by far the worst games ever. I mean one lunch and you lose have your life and depending on if your on the wall or not 50% to 70% damaged after one hit, man whatever. Tekken tag was good but thats the past, So to all and I do mean all you people that say tekken 5 is greater than MVC2 just put the crack pipe down. Now that mainly go's out to people hating on mvc2 and actually try to explain why mvc2 is garbage and tekken 5 is great. I love tekken, been playing it since tekken 2 but when 4 came out man I just lost all respect for tekken. Huuuuuuuu Tekken Tag R.I.P

And last about 3s ,cvs2,ggxx. Now if u want a game a requires skills then I agree play 3s. But don't expect to have fun playing it. 3s=skill..but not fun.

I'm sorry but 15 (or 30 for you're liking) out of 166,230 teams is still a horrible percentage. Far worse than any other fighting game out there.

I'm getting these ghetto ass frozen fried chicken TV dinners from Albertsons. I've tried Swansons, and Banquet.

Swansons gives you 2 really random pieces (like, i got like a back and drummette once, and like part of the breast, and some bony ass part another time) some corn, some mashed potato, and a brownie. The chicken really is on the back burner, it's good, but not great.
Chicken: 6/10 Overall 6/10

Banquet is very good. The older boxes give you 2 random ass pieces, but at least they're good pieces, like a complete wing/half-breast/drumstick/drummette combo. It's very good. The new packaged stuff, it's advertised on the front box "New large and meaty thigh!" is what it is: a pretty good sized thigh. Both types are good, and both have a lot of meat. The batter is good too. It comes with mashed potatos and corn. The corn is better with Swansons, but the mashed potatos better with Banquet, imo

Aside from the characters I listed, Strider/Doom seem to be the only other characters that can compete decently. Tron is sort of in the same position as CC: her assist is good. Same thing with Cyclopse. As characters by themselves they're not very good... from what I can see in videos. I'm not MvC2 expert and I don't play the game, but it's pretty much what I see in practically every MvC2 vid in existence.

...so what exactly are we debating about here? Other games suck? MvC2 takes the most skill? Which game is the most fun here? Which came first: the chicken or the egg?

I really no longer see what the issue is here. MvC2 is probably the most broken game currently played right now, no one can really deny it, but that doesn't make it any less fun. People have their own tastes and preferences and that's that. If people want to play broken ass MvC2 then more power to them.

I suppose it could be worse for Marvel though. You could have three Tekken 4 Jins on your team. :karate:

So the best fighting game ever is Street Fighter 1, where both characters (100% of the cast) are equally good. Now 3rd Strike totally sucks ass compared to Street Fighter 1, because it takes out the balance that only a Ryu vs Ken fight (at the time they were equal BTW) could provide. That is your reasoning. If you don't see the flaw, I can't help you.

Just for the record, I prefer having Mag, Storm and Sent than just a very limited version of Ryu to play.

Swansons gives you 2 really random pieces (like, i got like a back and drummette once, and like part of the breast, and some bony ass part another time) some corn, some mashed potato, and a brownie. The chicken really is on the back burner, it's good, but not great.

Banquet is very good. The older boxes give you 2 random ass pieces, but at least they're good pieces, like a complete wing/half-breast/drumstick/drummette combo. It's very good. The new packaged stuff, it's advertised on the front box "New large and meaty thigh!" is what it is: a pretty good sized thigh. Both types are good, and both have a lot of meat. The batter is good too. It comes with mashed potatos and corn. The corn is better with Swansons, but the mashed potatos better with Banquet, imo

Necro or Twelve don't have the same chances as Ken, Chun Li, Yun or Akuma. By the "balance" reasoning, Capcom should take out the worst (or the best) characters and you'd have a better game.

If balance is so amazing, why play fighting games at all when we can play Rock Paper Scissors (more balanced than fighting games and even chess, where white has the advantage).

CVS2 of course is known as a slow turtle game/roll cancel fest or whatever.
VF of course is found boring by most ppl too, despite being hailed as the deepest and most technical/skillful fighting game ever.

I was on the CVS2-hate bandwagon for quite a while. And of course I used to diss 3s cause it was the cool thing to do. But then I realised if I REALLY hated those games I wouldn't play them! (I know plenty of people who still whine about certain games just before popping in another coin to play them lol)

And about # of good characters...um, every single 3S tournament is won by about one of 4 characters, maybe five. All of them. Every once in a while there's an upset in Japan, because they play single-elim/team stuff. If you're going to say only 4 characters matter in MvC2, you'd sure as shit have to make that claim for every other fighting game, and you could probably, really, distil it down to less than 4 characters in some.

ST would yield better results than most games, but it's not perfect, either. Sagat is stupid, but please, keep your eye on Balrog. Still, comebacks are much, much more frequent in ST than any of the newer games, and characters outside of the highest tier can compete, and do so quite often (partially because the game is so thick with counter-matches).

It might not be that hard to execute but try doing it to someone who knows what they are doing. You're most likely going to have to get a guard break or combo it. Good luck landing it if your opponent doesn't make any mistakes and blocks everything.
