I died fighting the thresholder and got to play as Mickey. I thought that was cool. The boss fights are pretty fun with reaction commands and all. I'm enjoying this game 1,000x more than the first.

POSSIBLE SPOILER
So, my brother is playing the game right now, can someone tell me, does the valor form drive eventually turn you into a heartless? He was fighting in the Mulan stage, and all of a sudden, he looks like Orochi Iori, except in all black. Is this special, or just a level up of the Valor form?

If at anytime you're taking damage when you transform into a drive form you'll turn into a heartless.

It's hard to understand what she says after that. Sort of sounds like: " I need I need more Mexicans you know".

Actually, I've gone into Anti Form (that's its name, BTW) without being touched on several occasions. Most think it happens from excessive use of Drive. But once you've got Final Form (which I do, yay) it doesn't happen nearly as often (and never when you're driving into Final).
I found this comic on Penny Arcade: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/03/31

One school of thought is that it happens randomly, though a video floating around on youtube claims this is not so.
The video theorizes that damage you take while in Drive Form from the Heartless will fill a hidden meter, which may trigger Anti-Form the next time you use the Drive. The video shows 100 (supposed) attempts to get Anti-Form without taking damage while using Valor. The video finishes up with a scene with Sora in Master Drive taking lots of hits from the Heartless. He then reverts, then tries Drive again, and lo and behold, Anti-Form.
Frankly, I don't care either way.
All I care about is beating up on Pete. His boss fights are always fun.

I need to try that Passion+Sanctuary=Satan thing. :lovin:
I'd love an mp3 of that.
On the Anti-Form thing.....
I think the chance to turn into it always exists. It's just that the percentages of turning into it increase as you take damage while in Drive Form. That would explain people turning into it more often as they take damage.

While the game is great so far, one dissappointment I do have is the way they removed tech experience points. Don't understand what they were thinking there. The tech points in the original mixed up the combat greatly and kept the mash-happy centric gameplay in check. The "mash X" connotations from various reviews is quite valid. Combat is still exhilarating at times though.

Tip-- Once you get to Halloween town, use the curly moutain area to raise your drive levels. If you exit the area back to the graveyard while still in drive form, it cancels the form and your drive guage gets refilled. SUPER helpful for wisom, since levelling that sucks.

Fuck the water guy, fuck the game for having him. More of that bullshit time>skill reasoning that runs through the FF series. "It doesn't matter if you have skill, you just have to have enough basic stats to whoop the enemy fast (read without effort)." I can beat him, I just can't elimate all of those fast enough without a limit and keep my party alive through out all of his hard to avoid juggle combos before he summons the next batch where you only get 10 seconds.
It's crap, I could spend hours in other areas pressing square over and over "leveling up" but it's insulting. Good players shouldn't have to stand for that crap. Maybe I should have started on "normal" though the difference sounds like night and day in which case I'd have the opposite problem.

I've battled him twice. Once in the Underworld and Hallow Bastion. The first time he's easy. Just use the Reaction Command whenever you damage one of his water guys. The second time is a bitch though. You have to kill 10 of those things in 10 seconds. It's even worse if you get delayed by Donald when you accidentally use his Comet Limit thing...Made me want to kill a duck so bad. There's also the fact that the "water guy" (His name is so lame that it's not even worth checking for) starts shooting up walls of water everywhere. I shit you not, this fucker took my 5 tries to kill him. I never had to recover in the air so much in the game in that battle alone.:arazz:

Wait, what do you have to do for him in normal? I only played the normal mode in the Jap release, and I don't remember having that much of a problem with him. Proud mode, you have to kill 50 of the things in 40 seconds at the start, and then the same thing later on in the fight. Those things take one hit from the finisher, and like 3-4 from the normal combo strikes.
Stitch is really really really good in that fight. I don't know how I would have beaten him otherwise-- Stitch does this random song playing thing that instant-kills any waterthings on the screen, and he also randomly juggles the boss. Since you can hit him the whole time, you can basically keep the summon going for the entire fight even if you never used him before.
He took me like 10-15 tries to beat. I lost twice because I was holding the last motherfucking water clone when time ran out.
Proud mode really isn't so hard. The difficulty is a little higher than what you would expect, but the only parts where I had problems were Hades (bullshit fireballs do 1/3rd of a lifebar), that Water guy, and the first appearance of the fat heartless (since they do more than half a lifebar).

At this moment I'm at the "either beat the end boss or do what you want" phase of the game; I'm trying tp level up my Drive Forms and find one last piece of Orichalcum+, but to no avail; I can't seem to find it anywhere.
At this point, is there a level where the drives max out? Is it dependant upon my level?
Can anyone tell me why Sora sometimes turns into shadow Sora when a Drive as activated? It's really pissing me off.
Wolfkiller
04-03-2006, 07:00 PM
Drives max out at level 7. Everytime you use the 3 main forms, you get one Anti-Form point, which increased your chances of getting the Anti-Form. However, using the Final form takes away 10 Anti-points, so just do Master a few times and you should be set for awhile I think.
A good place to level up your forms is Timeless River. Make sure you are at the max and go to Disney Castle. Then go into Timeless River and select one of the portals. Use your drive and fight, but make sure you leave and make it back to the castle before the drive guage runs out. This will cancel the guage and it will be at it's max again. Save and repeat!

04-03-2006, 07:11 PM
Thanks, Wolf; I assumed 7 was the max point because my Master won't go any higher.
Im currently leveling Wisdom at the start of The World That Never Was; I've gone from level 1-6 in about 45 minutes.

So far 2/4 are maxed out; I still have two and a half levels left for Valor and about 5 1/2 for Final.
Not to mention my summons are only at 2.
I'm still unsure where to get this last piece of Orichalcum+; I have no clue where I would get it from unless I get it from Sephiroth. But by that time, getting the Ultima Weapon would only be useful for the final boss.

Wolfkiller
04-03-2006, 08:05 PM
Well you only have to do the journal if you're playing on the medium setting. On proud mode, you just have to finish all of the worlds to get the ending.
Nay, I don't have the U. weapon yet. I hear you "need" 14, but there is only 7 O+ in the game. So you gotta use that gem that cuts the sythensis in half. I still need to go find the recipe thang. I should go do that now, thanks for reminding me! :D
Kyoujin
04-03-2006, 08:08 PM
Would you like me to tell you where it is, or would you rather find it yourself?
Yes, you only need 7 pieces of O+, a leveled up moogle, and a serenity stone to get U weapon; I have 1/3 final weapons, but I am still looking for some twilight pieces for Save The King.
I didn't buy a guide/use gamefaqs because that takes the fun out of it, but I can understand wanting the MASSIVE special edition book.

Seph's a punk-ass in this game...he got rocked by my lv. 84 Sora (as opposed to the original KH where he could still hand you your ass at lv. 99). And on top of it, the Fenrir sucks compared to my Ultima Weapon, Negative Combo and 1 in magic for a measly 1 extra point in attack? Fuck that. Now the Hades Parallax Cup, that my friends is some bullshit right there. Beat Cloud AND Squall after fighting through 9 other rounds on a 10-minute time limit, ALONE?! That ain't cool.
And I almost forgot...it is my humble opinion that Sora and Riku would beast on any other Square character save Trance Kuja. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't seen the final battle in the game.
END SPOILERS
And did you guys need help with the ultimate weapons? I've got all three...did you get the Orichalcum+ for obtaining every type of synthesis material? And for Twilight stuff, first go to Yen Sid's tower in Twilight Town, there you can get the Shards and Stones. For Gems and Crystals, head to The World That Never Was. Those sorcerer monsters (the guys who make the block shaped to attack you) have the Crystals, and Assassins (guys who stick their blades out from underground) have Gems.
Oh, and be sure to use the upgrading Crystals on Donald and Goofy's ultimates. It turns them into Save the King/Save the Queen+, which have better support abilities built into them.

I just did a quick run through KH2 on Normal, beat the game in 21 hours. It was fun, though it starts off pretty slow. I like how nonlinear it is. I didn't even have to see Simba OR his world. Heck I didn't even unlock the gummi part to it. I also didn't waste my time in the Little Mermaid's world or Pooh's. I just sped through it to see the story. Anyways, it was fun, and the last boss was really the only tough one.
All in all, the game is a bit too easy, and it's because of the "Reaction" commands. It's also kinda short... But then I didn't play everything, so that could be it.
I'm going to try it again on Proud mode and try to get everything.
I really dig the story, surprisingly good for a game about FF characters in Disney world.

I started on Proud because I had read it was too easy on Normal; I finished with a total time just over 53 hours. That includes me leveling up, unlocking all worlds, and doing most side quest, excluding the last two colliseum tournaments.
I foudn some of the boss battles to be tricky; to be honest, I died a few times fighting the first boss, last boss and had to retry a few in between.
Im currently playing KH again; if all goes according to plan, I'll play Chain of Memories and then 2 after I am finished 1.
^^
What sidequests are there? I really haven't noticed any sidequests and I'm 15 hours in and on Halloween Town. Also, Where do I get Magnet? I was kicked out of Atlantica and it said I needed Magnet.
Kyoujin
04-04-2006, 09:19 PM
Well, the side-quest are pretty meanial: Colliseum, Sephiroth, to be honest, I can't really think of any else.;
Magnet is aquired by defeating one of the worlds; Sorry, I can't remember which one.
Atlantica is a world where you have to complete it through out the entire game. You could wait to get all abilities needed. You don;t gain anything unless you complete the whole world.
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking those were the sidequests but I was wondering if there were other sidequests I wasn't aware of.
Kyoujin
04-04-2006, 09:26 PM
I suppose you could count synthesis as a side quest; it isn't necessary, and it only benefits if you complete it. Plus, you have to level up the Moogle.
What part are you at, 1?
I just got into halloween town after beating Port Royal. I'm a lvl. 24 and have only 2 forms. I'll probably start doing some gummi ship stuff 'cause its fun. As for synthesis, I'm not sure what I'm doing with it really. I just give my items to the moogle and he makes stuff for me. I understand that you can gain the Ultimate weapon through synthesis correct? I'm going through this game slowly cause I want to enjoy it and I'm looking to get everything through my first run.
Does the underworld colliseum offer more cups to earn as you progress through the main story? I've earned the Panic and Pain cup and I went back and there and there still wasn't any new tournaments. What do I need to unlock them?

Yeah, I beat Seph at level 84 myself. He's not as crazy as he was in the first one, just have to keep on the move (Glide works wonders for this).
As for experience boosting, there is a much better way in this one than the old methods (aka the Coliseum and Seph). Note that I didn't come up with this (been going around GFaqs and other sites) but I figured it's a good idea to post it in this thread...
-Equip Gullwing and the "Experience Boost" and "Jackpot" abilities. Put Jackpot on as many members as you can.
-Turn off all of Donald and Goofy's skills and set their attack AI to "Sora Attack".
-Go to Pride Lands after defeating Scar. Get your HP into critical (aka when it makes that annoying beep noise) and DO NOT HEAL. This is how you get your EXP.
-At the peak where you fought Scar, hundreds of little bird monsters now appear, and reappear as soon as you leave.
-Lock onto one of them and repeatedly use Magnega. If your Magic is over 53, this equals OHKO, and very, very easy EXP. If not, you can still use Thunder spells or attack them, it'll just take a little longer.
I personally leveled up from 80 to 99 in about 20 minutes, tops.

The last ten floors can give you nightmares on Normal mode, let alone Proud mode...and this is at level 99, with an Ultima Weapon. :wtf:
EDIT: Oh yeah, and Final Form + Firaga = death to anything within moments. Just thought I'd throw that out.

Yeah, I tried that trick Dragoon, but it wasn't really to my liking; I used the sdame method but inside TWTNW and used a specific route.
The secret movie is confusing, but if it is what I expect, it's going to make the 1000 heartless battle seem like a hiccup.

I couldn't really figure out a trick to it, either. All I found out near the end is that his head isn't the only thing you can attack.
By the way, am I the only one that thought Sora was going to learn Synch Blades from one of the Drive Forms? That was a little dissappointing...

Really? Do you get more experience from him? After I beat Sephiroth for the first time, he was easy to beat again and again. I just beat him about ten or so times and all characters were maxed out.
I found this Sephiroth harder than the first for some reason; however, if I had taken him on at level 99, he would have been nothing.

'Tis Paradox Cup, both me and Infini screwed it up too.
Anyway, in reagrds to your question...everything and the kitchen sink. There's the 1000 Heartless battle in one of the rounds, Cerberus in 48...and Cloud, Squall, Tifa AND Yuffie AT THE SAME TIME in 49. Oh yeah, did I mention you're alone with no Drive or Summons?
Although truth be told, the FF team battle is actually kinda easy. In particular, Trinity Limit > FF characters...Sora is easily the new hotness when it comes to ass-kicking in a Square game.

Well, when Infini did it he took out Cloud first. But I would think that if you're going for a specific target in that fight, Yuffie'd be it. Bitch always tries to screw you over with her teleporting ginormous shuriken attack. Tifa's also annoying when you're trying to kill someone and she keeps running interference, but she sucks due to her slow-ass predictable attack speed (and the fact that Sora can deflect most of her attacks).
Squall's the real asshole there; his fucking Fire Cross can peg you while you're in the middle of fighting someone else (and kill you if you aren't careful), and the goddamn Blasting Zone gives hm the range of God on his already powerful-as-all-hell attack chains.
And yeah, I thought Seph sucked in this one. Trinity Limits kick the crap outta him, and all his bullshit can be either dodged or countered, with the exception of that fire pillar attack and his air chains (if you get unlucky and can't deflect one if your own attack). Descend Heartless Angel is garbage compared to Sin Harvest (which when I think about it, DHA could've been what Seph was actually saying in KH1), as it's SLOW AS HELL and he can easily be taken out of it with a Glide Lv.3 + air combo.

Playin' catch-up with the thread (SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK):
I'll be honest, the giant Nobodie at the start of the game took my three tries on Proud...
I thought I was the only one.
Actually, I've gone into Anti Form (that's its name, BTW) without being touched on several occasions. Most think it happens from excessive use of Drive. But once you've got Final Form (which I do, yay) it doesn't happen nearly as often (and never when you're driving into Final).
I'm convinced, but have no way of proving it, that Final form is unlocked once you go Heartless form just one too many times.
Ahh well I got through the Tron part, that's all I really rented it for. It was beautiful by the way.
Demyx beat the crap out of me too (I was like five levels below what Hallow Bastion's "battle level" reccomendation was at the time, too). I only gained one level before I won. A few stats won't stop him from deleting your life bar like a weak pencil mark. You gotta watch his pattern, like a Megaman boss.
I didn't use a single Limit, Drive, or Summon when I beat him either.
And I almost forgot...it is my humble opinion that Sora and Riku would beast on any other Square character save Trance Kuja. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't seen the final battle in the game.
My brother thought it was getting rather Dragon Ball-ish
Sora ran up a freaking building and jumped over like 20 city blocks for cripes sake
________
My thoughts (SPOILERS, BIG ONES, SO SKIP THIS POST IF YOU DON'T WANNA READ 'EM):
- This game blows the first one away. Yeah, I said it. The combat feels smoother and less "against you" in this one, despite Proud mode kicking the shit out of me. Incorporating magic into combos = awesome.
- I thought I'd like the Valor form more (dual-wielding = too good) but really, I think I like Wisdom better for the magic beatdown and PEW PEW Keyblade Buster. IMO: Final > Master > Wisdom > Valor
- Riku as your final party member = awesome beyond awesome
- Xemnas as the final boss = disappointing. I thought is was gonna be Roxas, and IMO it would've been better if it were Roxas.
- Picked sword-sword. Air combos = beastly. Magic = not that bad either. Donald > Goofy. Riku > the rest.
- Demyx and Xaldin were extremely hard. Haven't fought Sephiroth yet. Scar was surprisingly tough but I beat him on my first try. The 1000 Heartless battle was easy as pie, though.
- The reaction commands were well done, BUT I wish more of them were more about TIMING and not MASHING. For example, the one during the first Xemnas fight (running up the building) was cool; mashing it did NOT get you the best result.
- Why does Ariel not remember Ursula? Jiminy's journal remembers. :bluu:
- Proud mode is NUTS. Since I was trying to get through the story quickly, I rushed through the game, so I was underleveled to boot. Too much fun. :)
- Having played Chain of Memories is *almost* mandatory to understand the story. Almost.
- "The World That Never Was" (aka Deep Dive world) = one of the coolest final dungeons in a game. The music helps, too. Actually most of the music is top notch in this one, except for one of the boss themes (the one that plays for the giant heartless dragon in Mulan's world and the giant heartless... thing in Simba's)
Got some questions for y'all:
- To get the secret ending video, you have to beat the game on Proud, right? Is that the ONLY requirement?
- How many Drive forms are there? I have four. (Not counting the Heartless/Shadow form.)
- Does controllable Mickey only appear in Beast's world? I only had him appear for me against the Heartless boss there and then against Xaldin.

Get that keyblade that lets you do consecutive combo finishers and it's a wrap. (I think you get it after you beat Beasts's castle the second time)
Negative Combo + Guard Break + Explosion = GGPO.
Also, a quicktip: if you're having trouble with a boss that requires a combo finisher to beat (Certain bosses, once they hit like 1 HP, cannot be killed by regular weak Keyblade whacks) just nail him with a lightning bolt and the battle is over.

1. Final Form can be gained at random, like the Anti Form, once you beat the Memory's Skyscraper event at The World that Never Was.
2. Xehanort is either an anagram of NO HEART or ANOTHER.
3. Although the boxart of KH1 ended up becoming the same as the Deep Dive world, originally, this was not intended.
specs: Actually most of the music is top notch in this one, except for one of the boss themes (the one that plays for the giant heartless dragon in Mulan's world and the giant heartless... thing in Simba's)
WTF? That theme is one of the best in the game.
Here's how to break the game and reach Level 99 immediately.
1. Go to the top of Pride Rock, where the yellow flying heartless keep respawning.
2. Fight them while you have the Gull Wing keyblade and the Experience Boost ability equipped. For those to work, you also have to be in Critical HP. Make sure to unequip all of your party members' healing abilities, special attack abilities, and equip all the Jackpots/Draws you can.
3. If you're in your 50s, cast Magnera to draw the "bees" closer to you. Kill at your whim. If you do have to heal, cast a Potion. That way you can get back to critical easier.
You will hit for about 168 EXP each kill, and these will be easy kills. Once your level reaches the late 80s, your Magnega will be strong enough to ONE SHOT KILL the heartless. At this point, just keep casting Magnega, killing Heartless, and you'll make it to Level 99 in about 45 minutes (from the high 80s).

Anyone doing anything with the gummi-ship?
So much fun. The level 3 missions are the best, since you have crazy sorts of shit happening. That one mission with the pirate ship actually had enough to cause the game to slowdown. I was thinking of going for S/S/S+5 ranks for each mission, but I'll probably just settle for S/S/S, since some stages are a pain in the ass for score attacks.
I have three main ships-- a lock-on, a homing, and a straight-firepower. I swear that the normal homing got nerfed from the japanese release by having a decreased range. I was tearing up with that back in the day, but now it seems like it won't target shit.

what's the drive glitch?
In a nutshell...
- Drive, kick ass, do whatever.
- When you get low on Drive, run to the nearest Save Point.
- Teleport to the world map, then return. You'll have full Drive.
There's also another Drive glitch involving areas where you see your party members walking around (when they're physically out of your party as long as you're in that area), such as the entrance to The World That Never Was when you first get there. If you simply go into those areas and back out, you have full Drive.
This also makes the entrance to TWTNW (but only before you see the scene at the doorway to The Castle That Never Was) the best place for obtaining Final Form, as you can just Drive in the first part with the Shadows, if it's not Final Form, run back to the entrance, run back out and Drive again until you get it.
Kyoujin
04-07-2006, 05:52 PM
what's the drive glitch?
The drive glitch only works if you have a full drive bar (I think it only works when you enter a world from the world map). Enter the world and go about your business killing heartless, using your drive metre; before it depleats, run back to a save point and exit the world. If you have exited before your drive is gone, it will be fully restored again. This works really well when levelling up.
Sorry if that wasn't enunciated well, Pained; I just woke up from a nap.

The game plays out more like a beat 'em up, like it should, versus KH1, which pretended was had deep RPG combat but really didn't.

A nice place for the drive glitch is Disney Castle/Timeless River. Start at DC, go into TR, then go into any of the 4 subworlds (like Mickey's House, Fire Scene, etc...). Run back to the Disney Castle door before time runs out. And also...
SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!!
Otherwise you might do an Anti-form and you'll have to rebuild your drive up to max again. If you go Anti-form, just restart, go Master form a few times to get rid of your Anti-form points. Then continue on with your bizznizz.

And I guess I must be the only who thought this game was slightly harder than the first, at least up until the Hollow Bastion war. They're about dead even after that. There are some differences between the US and Japanese version that I noticed, for example:
-Xaldin used his beam super more and had faster normals in the J. Version
-Dancer Nobodies were more aggressive and harder to counter.
-Demyx's water clones take more hits to defeat.
EDIT: And Xigbar used floor shift/beam super combo much more often. This is all on the Japanese STANDARD mode by the way.

Also the reaction commands were cool but so easy. Whenever I had to do a reaction command I would just mash triangle to get the timing. The drives are fun, but you just mash X, thier even more repetitive than KH1 cuz you can't even defend/counter attack durring them. Limits were dumb, and did shit damage for using up a whole bar of magic. I do like the "Beat em' up" comparison though.
Let's face it, most RPGs are repetitive in thier battles anyway. Do your most powerful attacks against bosses, heal, repeat.
I'm going to start a new one in awhile, that is after I 100% my first game. I'm going to play it on Proud and for my stat picks in the begining I'm going to pick Magic and Magic, to make the game actually difficult. Plus I thought the wisdom drive was sweet and wanted to use it more :-P.

You gain new gummiship upgrades from just going through those normally, so you'll wind up with ships that can make it through any stage.

Sure, in this game, just like the last, all you're doing is mashing the hell out of X (and Triangle/Square), but unlike KH1, the battles here are faster, and overall your character is just stronger. You're mauling down a ton of enemies at a rapid succession, as if you were walking the streets of Metro City. KH1, on the other hand, was still fairly slow even when you were overpowered.
Let's face it, most RPGs are repetitive in thier battles anyway. Do your most powerful attacks against bosses, heal, repeat.
The thing about JRPGs is that they have more in common with Simulations than any other genre. What they're about is learning how to best economize your given resources. Almost the same shit goes on behind the scenes of Final Fantasy's engine, as it would be for Sim City. Sure, it's repetitive, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Repetition is only bad when it gets tedious. When nothing is added to the mix, when nothing's changed up. I felt KH1 was much more tedious than its sequel.
Ars Arcarum > Drives :-P
I knew I missed something from the first game...
Also, I just slapped Sephiroth with Sora's dick and I also now have the Ultima Weapon. My drive to complete the Journal is gone now, so GGPO Kingdom Hearts II. Thanks for the past couple of weeks. Now to go back to Persona 2, wait for my copy of Phoenix Wright to arrive, and push myself to finish 24: The Game.

Yes, bowling pin has hit somthing here. IN KH2, Sora is much more nimble. In KH, his swings are almost timed and take some time to get in.
However, alot of battle require more strategy in KH as opposed to KH2. In 2, you can just step up and bash out a win, where as in 1, I'm specifically thinking of battling Leon or Cloud, you have to make sure to take advantage of openings.

ENDGAME SPOILERS. You're warned!
You know what I just realized? The Thousand Heartless battle was gimped from the get-go. The Organization just had to pick the two Heartless whom Sora could Reaction multi-kill attacks from. I bet that decision went something like this:
Saix: LOL. Sora's gonna get his ass kicked by all of these guys, amirite?
Demyx: Um...I dunno. Do you really have to bring out those robot lantern guys? What's to stop Sora from just using their lazers to slaughter the rest of them? Can't we just send a thousand of those Fatasses? That would be tough.
Saix: Demyx... you're a pussy. You can't fight worth a shit. You have a pussy haircut that went out of fashion with Saved by the Bell. Your opinions aren't needed or wanted.
Demyx: ...goddammit.
Yeah, had they sent out a thousand of those Fatasses, Sora would've been FUCKED, for real.

You know, this game's philosophy of light and dark needs some consideration. Now, I know that during Chain of Memories and KHII, darkness is depicted as a scary, but necessary agent in existence. Despite that, the games do paint darkness as an evil, malicious intent. Isn't that further from the truth though? The whole "light and dark" concept was derived from Neoplatonism. Plotinus thought, and this is derived from Plato, later adopted by Aristotle and integrated into Christianity, that all physical existence eminated from a force called The One. The One is perfect, but all objects that eminate from The One have only small portions of it in them. The One serves the same purpose as light in Plato's thinking; light is a force which unifies all singular objects and beings. Darkness is whatever gap is used to fill in the essense of an object that is imperfect. Aristotle then replaced "The One" with God, and "Darkness" with evil.
That's a bit of a misnomer though. Evil isn't the malicious destructive force it's commonly thought to be, but it's merely just the absense of complete good. Now, what does this have to do with Kingdom Hearts? And with life in general? We come to the conclusion the Light is the essense which seeks to unify individuals with the greater existence. Dark is the essense which does the opposite; it unifies an individual itself. In order for a person to feel complete and balanced, he would have to dwell in the darkness of his psyche, deal with whatever feelings of disconnect and discontent he has, and emerge unscathed. Dark, thus, serves that very important purpose.
Our goal in life is to master our light, and feel at one with the universe and with people; and to master our darkness, and feel at one with ourselves. Kingdom Hearts alludes to this but doesn't ruminate on it, save for the Riku side story of Chain of Memories. Coming to terms with our darkness is part of the psychology behind the folk tale Iron Hans. Iron Hans was a story about a young prince venturing into the wilderness and meeting a wild man named Iron Hans because of the rust-like color of his wild hair. The underlying moral is that in order to proceed through life, we must all confront and accept the lessons taught by our own inner wild man.
Unfortunately, and this is probably due to the contemporary Western conception of Light and Dark and Good and Evil brought to the table by Disney movies, Kingdom Hearts never suggests that there can be too much Light in a person's being. If Sora remains adament to dwell in only the Light, he will become no better a person than Maleficent or Xemnas.
Speaking of Xemnas, his spouting of "Hatred is the ultimate emotion" just reinforces how clueless he really is. At the end of KHII, we see that Light and Darkness (Sora and Riku) must join forces to combat the essence of Nothingness. Yet, emotions like hatred, which Xemnas so enthusastically adheres to, do not represent Nothingness. That's Darkness again. Darkness is the agent through which hatred comes from: hatred seeks to divide an individual against others. Hatred, ultimately, is another component of the psyche which has the purpose of unifying the fragments of the self together. It's necessary. Not good, but an inevitable feeling that human beings share.
But Xemnas is firmly on the side of Nothingness. A proper being of Nothingness would be silent, actually, and seek only to eradicate existence without bias. Without sense. Xemnas just wants to play God.
Man, fuck you Square-Enix.

Finished the game on Saturday. Awesome ending. And no, I didn't think Sora and Riku had any hint of homosexuality in their exchanges. They're close friends. Doesn't automagically make them gay, especially since they BOTH have the hots for Kairi, which was proven in KH1 for Riku and KH2 for Sora. In fact, Sora got super-emotional anytime he saw a couple; he wants to find Riku because Riku's his best chum, but I'm pretty sure the only asshole he wants to fuck is Kairi's.

Why, exactly, is Sephiroth a villian here? If I remember correctly, the first exchange between Seph and Sora went like this.
Seph: Sup.
Sora: Oh. You Seph? You know Cloud, right?
Seph: Yup. He still being a bitch?
Sora: Uh... yeah. He's all emo now and he says it's your fault.
Seph: LOL. Yo, you go back and tell Cloud to buck the fuck up and stop acting like a whiny bitch who can't take account for his own life. Ain't my fault he's a pussy. ...and, uh, give in to the darkness.
Sora: Oooookay...
Seph was all cool and shit too. Then when you meet him again, it's really Sora & company that starts shit with him, isn't it?

Goofy: YEAH DON'T TAKE SHIT FROM THAT WIGGER SEPH SORA!!!

Okay, see, the conversation went all wrong when Sora got all defensive when Seph asked for his name. Now, let's see how that woulda played out if Sora kept it cool.
Seph: What's your name?
Sora: Uh, Sora, Donald and Goofy.

Actually, I just thought of something for those of you looking for treasure chest:
In the Journal, treasure is listed geographically and in what order you have access to it. For example, the list isn't randomly generated and if you go to the Journal, it tells you what was in each treasure chest you found. If you can remember a distinct one (say for example, a map which is in a larger, more distinct box) then you can cut out a significant portion of the map in searching. For example, in the list, if the box you are looking for is BEFORE a map chest, then you know that it is going to be found BEFORE you should have found the map chest. That is, locate the box with the treasure you know you found it in and search the areas BEFORE that area. I hope this isn't too confusing; this really helped me when I was looking for all the treasure.

Ok, seriously.
Has anyone beaten that boss at the end of the Mission 3 for the Dreadnaught gummiship stage?
I made a fucking tank of a ship with 7 Firaga cannons and 2 of the gravity ones, I equipped 2 of those cannon-fire booster things, and I used every single neon-light I had, then sat in the goddamn stream of bullets that thing fires (it fills up everything-- looks like one of those top-down shooters) and I blasted away. I kept blasting, and blasting, and blasting. THEN it starts this weird flashing thing, and after 3 flashes that come like two seconds apart each, I die instantly. No hit, no impact, no shot. I'm not even in criticial, and if it is something besides an instant kill, then not only does it do more damage than anything else in the game, but it is also undodgeable.
I've tried blowing up the little satellites around it, but
1. I can't even see the things because of all the damn bullets

I've tried blowing up the little satellites around it, but
1. I can't even see the things because of all the damn bullets
and
2. I don't even think I can kill them.
That boss is so freaking impossible

Stupid me the last chest was in Rabbit's pumpkin garden but it was hidden pretty well considering it was out in the open and not in a corner.
By the way, whats a good place to level up the Final Form that will give me some hefty experience for it because i know you get experience for every nobody you destroy.
Yen Cid's Tower; there is no better place than this.
There are two save points, one at the top and bottom of the tower, and all there is in the level is Nobodies.

I disagree and say TWTNW last save point before the boss. You kill about 12 per time if you manage to do the glitch right and that is when you first get it. By the end you can string up about 60 in one glitch setting and that's at level 3 or 4. Rememberto use form boost and oathkeeper.
Got the last treasure. It was in a stupid place. All that's left mouse wise is the paradox cup that needs level 99. I say needs because I died to a fucking nobody dog at lvl 83. Shit was depressing, dawg.
And man, fenrir + neg combo + finishing plus + explosion + gaurdbreak is so good! Low combos and finisher spam destroyed sephiroth.

Hmm...just beat the game, 31 hours on normal doing just about everything (minus the colisseum).
Hardest boss for me was definately Demyx, I didn't think it was possible to lose so many times with just one of those water guys remaining. But once I took out auto limit with Donald it was easy.
Last boss seemed relatively easy, only part I "died" was when Riku had to save Sora, and well that's because I didnt see his health dropping.
I liked the ending and story, and I really hope there isnt a 3rd one, because what would it be about?

i have to say after playing through and beating this game KH2 Sora is probably one of my new favorite RPG characters
he's relatively more badass in this game, and i like how they didnt make him all angsty and kept his generally sunny disposition
yea standard mode was too god damned easy for me until TWTNW
goin back into proud and 100% that shit.
PS: Rumbling Rose STUPID BROKEN.

Any tips for the following would appreciated:
Phil's Training. How the FUCK do you get 1000 points? I have NO combo+'s equipped, Negative Combo turned on, and Finisher Plus for extra finishers, and I still can't break 550 points for the most part (I somehow fluked off 750+ once, no idea how).
The one cup where Sora is alone but can use Summons alone. 5000 points; any tricks to this?

Agreed 100%. Too many goth-emo-queer dark heroes in RPGs these days. Seeing a guy like Sora who is optimistic and is, at heart, a big kid (playing in Pooh's world, excited about Santa, etc.) and can STILL pull some DBZ bullshit is pretty damn cool.

But I still can't beat this damn boss.

Summon Stitch and spam his Ukele or whatever (Square button). Make sure lots of enemy are on screen when you do it. It's the best way to get high score in any cup.

I would try Peter Pan, as well. He has better damage and the points you rake in are tremendous:tup:

I'm been thinking more about that extra ending vid lately. Specifically, two things about it:
1. Those three keyblades that distinctly looked like Sora's, Riku's, and Mickey's.
2. The quotes near the end, specifically "memories of Xehanort" and "Keyblade War"
I'm not sure what exactly I think about it though. I'm still digesting it all in my brain. Was that scene in the distant past? The far future? Just a LITTLE into the future (i.e. Another Side Another Story)? It hurts me brain. :looney:

Peter Pan is the best point summon. He does crap damage actually and mad points gained.
For Phil's training...Magnera, neg combo and the normal air finisher. Don't use the one that's all flashy as you need to land and stay moving. Also land combos have more lag with their finisher than air combos.
Oh, and Magnera simply put is THE SHIT for killing foes that get on your nerves. It bunches them up for you.

The Atlantica part was actually pretty nice, I mean damn they got the real Ariel to sing all that shit. and who didn't have "under the sea" playin in their head over and over.
This game is the shit, everybody is badass compared to KH1, I mean damn Alladin is flyin all over the place fuckin shit up.

I have Magnega now. And I tried going Magnega -> Thundaga Finisher (works thanks to Negative Combo) to zap entire fields of urns, and somehow this gets me LESS points.

apparently the game creator has been considering a the next kingdom hearts title to be unrelated to sora, and the rest of the gang. this was in an interview though i can pull up the source. he said it wouldnt fall in place with the current story, but wouldnt' be completely unrelated either.
im thinkin a PS3 launch title.

Well i just beat Sephiroth and i gotta say it was a fun battle. I only died once and it was only because i ran out of mp to heal myself plus i didn't do a finisher to kill him off. Once you got used to his movements and spam the hell out of reflega whenever he uses the orbs it was cake.
All i got to do now is finish up the paradox cups, do the remaining missions in twilight town, and get the rest of the synthesis items.

Right before you fight Xigbar, he mentions that Sora is "weaker then the other keyblade masters" or something like that. I think that's a huge hint that there are other keyblade wielders out there or at least he met some in the past.

Finally beat that ship. Wound up stacking 10 Firaga cannons in a cluster, with two of the gravity guns in the center. 3 cannon upgrades, two bridges, all of my neon orbs/bars, and everything else was put into material gummis for HP. Damn ship could barely move and I collided with everything, but the boss gave an automatic S-rank, and I just happened to kill all the special enemies so I'm never playing that mission ever again.
And the part you get for beating it is just a "secret ship" blueprint.

Yea this was a very solid game, just beat it on proud mode...the last battle was kinda long..lol
And sephiroth was a bitch it wasn't a cake walk for me it took me having to make elixirs to beat him. but it felt good when i killed his ass. too bad i saved over it..i want to go back and beat him as many times as he beat me!!
also..in that kh3 video pause it right after the 3rd person picks up the key blade.
You'll see 3key blades together and to the right the fenrir keyblade....just crazy what's messing with everybody's keyblades being there.
Now that i beat 2 i'm even more intrigued for the 3rd one to play as the 3 new characters.

You're a little confused, MrQuotes.
The drive trick is that you have to activate your Form and before it runs out, get to a save piont and exit the level; your drive gauge will then be refilled.
Hope that helps:tup:
Stabby
04-14-2006, 06:32 PM
No, he was mentioning something else.
If you have your drive activated when you go to a map where your party is split up (You can talk to donald/goofy/etc) then your drive gauge gets refilled.
And Quotes, the BEST place to level wisdom form is in the area right before the brink of despair in TWTNW. 60-70 of those shitty normal heartless spawn around that city area. You'll have to use the save-point jump trick, though.
And as long as you have any drive form remaining when you leave, it'll be restored to full. In other words,
