Seriously. It's not like I get stuff and not understand how sweet and lucky it is that I do and be thankful that I can get it. My dad works his ass off 7 days a week and comes home at 1 in the morning if he's lucky so that we can afford to take cool trips together, my brothers and I can go to good schools, we can go to sports events or movies together, and we can afford cool things that we use together. I have every intention of doing the very same thing so that I can do the same kinds of cool things with my kids and give them the same kind of stuff I had. When I get out of school in three years, I'll probably be working 80-hour weeks with $100k in student loans so that I can get started on providing stuff for the kids I hope to have a decade from now. If that's spoiled, then whatever.

I don't get everything I want, I don't get the most expensive things, I don't get them whenever I want, and I don't take the things I do get for granted. That customized MAS stick? I bought the stick on Ebay for $30 and it cost me $40 to buy the stuff I needed to mod it myself, and the SFAE stick cost me $40 on Ebay and I modded it myself with like $30 in parts. I'm sorry you don't have the same things I do and the last thing I want is to seem like I'm lording over you, seriously. It's just the luck of the draw. Plenty of people have plenty more stuff than I do, but whatever. That's how life is, enjoy what you have.

I don't know you and you have the right to express your opinions freely on this board. The only reasons I collect this stuff is

1. I love the games. I love the memories. Especially when I find most of the stuff at dirt cheap prices.
2. 2D is dying and this is my way of preserving that fair time in the early 90's so that someday my kids can possibly appreciate the history of the best gaming decades the world has ever seen.
3. It's a small investment. In 30 years this much of this stuff will be worth alot of money. I think I'll get more than what I put into this.

Infact this is just a small part of what I collect. I've been doing this over the course of 6 years....picking up stuff here and there. It's not like I go out everyday and hunt for items.

i got most the games from ebay. the console was built for me by a guy named kenny. i saw one console he built and put on ebay and i contacted him about building me one. it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it to get all the games at a fraction of the price. neo-geo collecting has become a new hobby of mine, theres alot of very good games on that system, plus its great nostalgia. check neo-geo.com forums for a guy named kenny-boy or d-lite. d-lite converted my sc2 stick to a neo controller for me. i can easily vouch for both their work. check out neotropolis.net for kenny's work and contact info. i know d-lite has a page also, but i forget what it is right now...

My god that room reminds me of Myra Monkhouse's room (from Family Matters). Her wall paper had Steve Urkel, her lampshade has Urkel, everything in her room literally had Urkel on them.

I'm definitely feelin' all those Famicom and Super Famicom cartridges though (even though I prefer my Super Famicom games to be boxed with a manual). That's what makes them so cool, they come in so many different colors. I need another Famicom system, cuz the controller port in my Famiclone had some brittle pins.

Sighhhh that's the one cabinet I've ALWAYS wanted. The full on big screen Virtua Fighter 3 cabinet I used to have at my arcade. I love VF even though I suck at it (cuz there's no one to play around here) but I played it simply because the cabinet was beautiful. I'm using the Infocus sp4805 to display a 100" screen. At night I'd say it bests even the local movie theatre. Here are some pics taken 12ft away.

In the first pic I can't even cover up Choi with my hand. I went with a projector cause I really can't see the point of spending thousands of dollars for something so small. Not only is the picture quality rivaling any Plasma out there, but the projector is portable. Sometimes during really hot nights we take the projector outside(it weighs 8 lbs.) and I have a big white wall on the side of my house. Looks amazing.

The Projector cost me $1000 and is HD compatible has component in, and the Xbox never looked so good, this coming from a guy who owns a kickass XBR CRT. Oh and for your PC guys out there, you cannot imagine how good DOOM 3, and Half Life look on this thing in HDTV resolution, it's really jaw dropping.

BTW the screen I'm using isn't fabric, maybe that's why it looks so good. I was going to use fabric but one morning I was at Home Depot and I saw this guy carrying a huge white board and the lights from the cieling reflected off it and blinded me. I thought to myself, man that thing reflects light really well. So I ran over to him and he told me what it was. It's called tileboard and I'm sure many of you have it in your own bathrooms. Anyway only cost me $10 for 4' x 8'. I suggest anyone who's anyone to look into Projectors(Local Best Buy just opend a new dept. called Magnolia for Projector showrooms): Pros are that it's cheap, portable, flexible and most of all HUGE. Cons are that you have to research to find out which is the best projector(in this case though I belive I found the best bang for buck), and you need a light controlled room(daytime viewing is possible, but it doesn't look good at all).

If anyone has any questions or want some more info on how I got things to look so nice, hit me up on AIM.

Scoot Magee also has the same projector and he plays games on it all the time:)...SCOOT there are things out there called DVDs you know? :)

People keep on mentioning how good projectors are so now Im going to keep them in mind too. Im not sure if my room could handle it tho.

How far back is it recommended that you sit from say a 100" screen? I havent measured my room yet, but if I got a projector the screen would have to go infront of my mirrored wardrobe. (so buying a screen is a must)

To Kneel, the Infocus 4805 webpage(www.infocus.com) has an image calculator determing how much screen size you get depending on your distance from wall to projector. The Projector I have also has overscan to make the image even LARGER. For me it's about 12Ft, and as for getting a Plasma TV, I highly recommend checking out a projector first before making any purchases. As I stated in one of my previous posts, once you have that huge screen it's really difficult to go back, add to the mix the fact that the machine is portable(I mean it's the size of a an Xbox and weighs less) and you truly have a versatile machine.
Here's what I do on the Projector:

#1. DVDs - I'm a movie buff, and the Xbox with progressive scan looks amazing(I'm not joking when I say it looks better than the local movie theatre, I'm not saying IMAX, they still are the king, but it's better than any movie theatre around here that's for sure). Fear not the projector has special technology(Faroudja) that makes interlaced movies look good.

#2. Gaming - Whether it be Xbox, PC, or even Dreamcast, the projector makes things shine. The projector I use is widescreen so all you sports games junkies can finally have the full scope of the game as intended. Oh and SF in 480p never looked so good(AND HUGE!). For you SNK fans, the 480p mode helps out KOF and SVC too. I plan on getting Gamecube component cables to play RE4 on this monster, the game was meant for widescreen anyway.

#3. HDTV - Even though it's 1/4 resolution of true HDTV, it's still miles away from SDTV. Plus from the 12' viewing distance I have it's tough to tell where the loss in quality is, to me it's not that big of a deal, watching events in HD or even HD movies is good enough.

There you have it folks, if anyone lives in the area and would like a demonstration(I doubt Best Buy allows you to play CVS2 on their projectors) you're welcome to set something up with me as long as it's past 9PM EST.

Those projectors seem good to me. I like that it has a good selection of inputs, Id enjoy trying them all out as Ive never experienced them before. One thing Im a little worried about is Id have to get rid of my TV for space. BUT, I remembered the new PC monitor Im getting doubles as a TV, so I should be all good. I should be able to manage an 80" diagonal picture with the space I have. Im not 100% sure if I'll be getting one yet, Im forever changing my mind. But for now Im focused on picking up the InFocus!

how can they not be bootleg? they are definitely not region 1 or region 2 (and seeing that youre from NJ, i dont see why you would get any other region)?

take for example the cowboy bebop boxset, that is neither the cover of the japanese discs or american discs. its the cover of the american boxset, but the american boxset was very large and could hold 8 fully, individually cased DVDs.

take for example the kenshin boxset. the US release looks nothing like that, either does the Japanese release.

as for the cowboy bebop movie, that is the cover of the japanese disc which to my knowledge does not have english subtitles. the cover of the US release looks different.

the trigun boxset US release was a large 8 disc release, similar to the cowboy bebop one.

anyway, i dont mean to argue or anything--im just a bit doubtful. maybe im wrong, but who knows. anyway, thanks for your response to my subtitle question sir.

Well, as far as I can tell, they aren't. And let's say if they are bootleg, who cares? They are packaged 1000x better then both the American and Japanese releases, and feature both languages(both voice and subtitles) so I don't really care. Please note they also have a "special features" section, and the menus look extremely nice(and better then the "American" release you speak of). So yeah, be it bootleg or not, they are the best boxsets I've seen.

as i said before, it doesnt really matter to me. i find the real releases to be way overpriced. they are of much, much better quality (packaging wise and shit) than the bootlegs. but yes, its expensive and for a lay fan it might not be worth it. but, actually i once bought the escaflowne boxset and like i said the subtitles were TERRIBLE. it wasnt worth watching at all. i instead watched my old school crappy real player escaflowne files. because of that i only buy legit releases from then on. i tend to not buy much cause they're expensive. but im more careful nowadays. anyway, carry on.

Their image pressing of the DVD itself has gotten better. Images aren't super zoomed in or have too much contrast. Of course, that only applies to some bootleg companies. They are nice boxes by the way. Nice, colorful, and compact.

The image quality and subtitles for alot of the bootlegs are are bad, but none of the ones I own are. I just checked, and the quality for my Trigun boxset, and it's slightly inferior, if at all, then the american release. And looking at this huge, bulky thing with 8 dvds in makes me vomit. Good thing it's not mine. But like they say, to each his own.
