For all those that have been to EVOs before AND particapated in the tournament, i have a question. Are the ppl in the tourney as dull as the ppl online with the characters they use and their fighting styles???
I would guess the characters mainly used are shotos, chun, urin and yun. If so do they all use them the same like while I'm online i play dozens of kens who use him almost identically.
on a side note ~ Is it pretty fun at EVO, are the ppl who attend pretty cool or supa competitive and talk shit non stop.

I didnt know that it was OBVIOUS that ppl do or dont only use shotos/urin/chun at EVO. Especially since ive never been to a tourney. I've never seen anyone play this game at an arcade and online everyone uses the same ppl and uses them in the exact same ways. Scratch that, i have played ppl at the arcade but they all pick akuma and ken... so my question is valid.
Its like u can always count on some fool to make a dumb comment instead of answering the topic's subject/question.

Short answer: FUCK NO.
Long answer: The competition is fierce at Evo. Much, much more intense than anything on Xbox live, and no two people play alike. Yes certain tactics are universal among good players, but they are real tactics/mixups/setups, not bullshit XBL lag tactics. After playing in real life I am convinced it is impossible to play real 3rd Strike over an internet connection...
Amoung the most used characters, you'll find alot of good Yun's, Kens, Chuns, Dudleys, Uriens, and surprisingly ALOT of Alexs, Ryus, Yangs and Akumas. When you spot a Hugo, Elena, Oro, Necro, or Q, they are usually really good. Ibuki's, Twelves, Seans, and Remys were rare but I did spot a few Twelves beasting decent top tier whores.
As "overpowered" as Chun Li supposedly is, good Chuns were few and far between in my oppinion. Justin and Nuki stand out but I had much, much more trouble fighting decent Yun's and Dudley's than Chun li's.
As for atmosphere, some people are visibly poor sports when they lose (even in casuals) but for teh most part people are really friendly and cool. I met alot of people, KOFiend (crazy Yang), Anyurism (knocked me out of my pool w/ his beastly Dudley), Nuki, bunch of random people who I never got there names, Samson and Nate my roommates, just to name a few.
XBL is ok for practice for something real like Evo, but nothing more IMO.

Man you missed out on some great finals! Even though it was boring, the matchs between nuki and jwong were tense and pretty damn close. Poor Kokujin got GGPOed from the winners bracket to the losers and elimated all by chunlis  I'm quitting halo 2 forever and picking up guilty gear, even though no one in my area plays. First day of qualification pools sucked with all that waiting and shit, but besides that, I had a good time.

All the jap chuns are vicious. Justin has patience, the kid is good at that.Doesn't move at all.So this come out of a player not weather u are jap or usa or whatever doesn't matter. They get fustrated cuz nobody likes to fight someone that doesn't fight. So u play more reckless and to sum it up.The games are ASS and BORING!.I would rather watch raoh vs nuki or rao vs ricky or any random chunli that is not from the EC.TOO boring.I remember Justin vs Eddie lee from ECC.zzzzzzz!!
f that..jap chun are so vicious is not even funny.MOV is a hit confrim beast.:wow: :wow:
and XBX LIVE sucks ass for real SF3

Damn was it me? I had a few win streaks w/ him in casuals.
I only saw two other Remy players besides myself. One was this fat black dude who sucked ass w/ him, the other was a Japanese player who was doing alot of charge partitions, dash up EX Lov's, EX High Lov-low lov combos etc. He was busting heads left and right but he got kicked off so someone could play pools.

What the fuck at that...
Did you tell the staff why you couldn't play? Actually, now that I think about it, they probably couldn't or wouldn't fit you in due to the lateness of the 3s pools -_-

All I know is I kept hearing that one guy go "D-D-D-D-Disqualified!!!"
How about they announced my pool, and I go to it, and I'm sitting there with the guy running it, waiting for people, and I hear on the mic: "Will Mark Wyda 'ParryAll' please report to your pool in 5 minutes or else you will be D D D D D D DISQUALIFIED!!!"
I think they just got a kick out of name dropping over the mic just for the hell of it. People think I am some big name player, I had 5 or 6 people ask me if I play at FFA (?). Then they proceeded to whoop my ass. Guess not  .

btw, im starting to get the hang of the arcade stick so we should do some more games (i think your the last person i played with my pad). also, might help u too if u got a stick,... although your already beastly with a pad :wow: lol. but if u gonna invest in one, ive had it for a month, and i can now do pretty much all the basic moves... and im actually better using it, because on a pad its harder to use every button... but i still have slow reactions with it. anyway, just lettin ya know my point of veiw since i too couldnt use a stick at all (same situation, right?).

Keep on that stick Nas. I'm slowly getting used to it. Now my I'm beginning to have a little rushdown and shit.
Now after just reading the guide I've gotten a little better. I'm going to buy it and hopefully it'll step up my game even more.
Hit me up for some games as always. peace

I heard a bunch of people from SRK bein called out over the mic...OHT, you, smootcat to name a few. I only got to meet a few people, Japanese players Nuki, KSK, MOV, Chikyuu, Afro Cole (eliminated me with his Urien...I was playing like shit to say the least, I shouldn't have lost, not to discredit Cole just saying), Anyurism (Toronto beast), KOFiend (Unbelievable Yang), some guy wearing a medical-mask thing, Samson K, Dobs and Dubbz (Nate), Queen of Combat (I kind of humilated her Chun-li), Stoner guy who used Ken, Mike Watson (I think...he was the guy from Bang the Machine, he's older and he used Dudley), nerdy guy who parried down Necro's SAI, black dude who used PS1 controller and we had a long ass set, and a lot more that I forgot.
If you were lurking around the 3rd Strike area the first day you had to of seen me. I was there for like 10 hours!

No this guy was using a white one.
Yeah I agree. Alot of people were surprised, and alot of people thought I built my own controller. I was using the Sega Saturn pad for PS2.

Well, I should have gotten alot further. I got eliminated by Anyuerism and Afro Cole. I shouldn't have lost to Cole, no offense to him, I was playing like shit to say the least, hungover, tired, rusty and nervous. Still almost beat him though. AnyuerismX was another story, he was too good, I wasn't prepared for a Dudley like that. Holy shit. He made it pretty far, top 20 I believe.
I did alot better in casuals but that doesn't make up for my poor performance in pools. Next year man next year!
