What was wrong with the new one? I liked their previous stuff alot. What was so bad about this one?

Yeah, they're doing more chugga chugga rehashed melody chugga chugga now. His leads are still badass, but thats about it; the music is just retardedly bad.

Well I recently started listening to Chaosphere again and I'm now on a Meshuggah binge. I should of went to see them on their last tour through Texas. I also wish Sunn 0))) would come through Texas as well. Black 1 has been on my playlist since I got it.

I want to get Bleeding Through's new album. does anyone here have Portrait? i still prefer that one over this is love, this is murderous.

lately ive been listening mainly to Emperor, especially Prometheus. That album is really hard to for me to stop listening to.

Does anyone here have Dark Funeral's new album? from what ive read its supposed to be really good, but i was curious as to what you guys thought

Dark Funeral good? That's one I've never heard before. I've never heard them. But everyone I talk to has never said good things about them.

Prometheus is king. And makes Nightside look like a crown jester.

Ulver's Krystoffer Rygg has got a new band: Head Control System

www.headcontrolsystem.com

It's not wierd. It's not electronic. It's not even black. It's very tool-esque only heavier.

Lately I've been listening to Nevermore and Wintersun a lot... Nevermore is just perfect for the style they play and Wintersun... wow... they just blow everything out of the fucking water... Truly unbelievable...

Oh and shameless self promo here; why don't you guys check out my band http://www.myspace.com/aurahaven Most of the songs were recorded a long time ago, and to this day we've basically changed a lot of the songs, but sence we are busy doing the demo, and possibly going on a tour, we haven't updated them. Nevermore was a lot better when they were sanctuary IMO, their only good song as Nevermore I have heard is Narcosynthesis, and maybe Inside Four Walls (or whatever that song is)... Refuge Denied is a badass album.

Anyone like Dio? I have been leaning away from power metal towards heavy stuff lately like Testament and Dio, and need some recommendations...my favorite band is Angel Dust...

- Dark Symphonies has reissued maudlin of the Well's second and third albums, Bath and Leaving Your Body Map. Great progressive/experimental shit.

- Concerning Dio: Holy Diver is badasssssss. :D Last in Line is great too. If you dig Testament, you'll like Overkill (although Bobby Blitz's thrash-metal-Brian-Johnson vocals take some getting used to).

- The new In Flames album is better than their last one...then again, nearly anything is better than STYE, and CC still isn't that great. Anders really is the weak point in that band.

- If you like symphonic black, you'll like Vesperian Sorrow. They're a wicked band from Austin (I'm surprised there was metal in Austin!). Here's a link: http://www.myspace.com/vesperian

I think they are a pretty good band, but not great. to me they sound like alot of the bands out there today. i would say to stick with the half stack. you can check out their myspace page to hear a few of their songs so you can get an idea

you should check out this band called Hyatari
http://www.hyatari.com/

check out both songs on their download page, especially Collapse

some other recommended listenings:
Lunaris - The Infinite........the best way to describe their sound is progressive - astral black metal

Garden of Shadows - Oracle Moon.........i don't think they are together anymore. which is too bad. they were a really good epic melodic death/ black band

Nocturnus - The Key........Old school atmospheric death metal band, at times they hinted at black metal

Neuraxis - Trilateral Progression........really good death/grind band from Montreal

Lost Soul - Chaostream.......death metal band from Poland

I've seen Kayo Dot live. Only 20 people showed up (not many are aware of Kayo Dot in Texas), but it was a badass show. I even managed to cop a copy of their new CD at that show before it came out (which was back in November, so I don't know why they would have released it at shows so early - I'm not complaining, though). Toby Driver's solo CD is also quite good.

the blackout telecaster is a cool guitar....GOOD choice.

you guys should checkout this band i discovered a while ago called Frightmare. it's too bad these guys are on one of the smallest, most independant labels ever......Razorback Records
but you should give these tracks a listen. they are really old school. there stuff sounds like early 80's grind like Terrorizer and Repulsion, but alot better and more catchy. they play short movie clips before each of their songs, but not like Mortician. they usually only last 30 seconds tops. Friday the 13th is my favorite track

what is melodic death metal ?

bigpoppa
01-16-2006, 08:14 PM
it says it right in the name.....its death metal with melody. there is more to the guitar work. they apply harmony, and alot of times classic metal type of riffing where as death metal everything is basically tremolo(fast) picked. it isnt quite as technical as death metal.

some melodic death metal bands - At the Gates, Arch Enemy, old In Flames, old Soilwork

Something is bugging me.

So I'm watching headbangers ball (yeah, I know, leave me alone, I'm bored :(), and out of nowhere they play this thrashy song and it says "Soulfly - Frontlines."

I thought they fucked up on the band and title. But apparently it IS Soulfly.

What bugs me is that it was actually kind of good. Good as in Beneath the Remains/Arise era Sepultura (maybe not absolutely fucking amazing, but it was a decent thrash song, with nice leads).

So then Satan calls me to let me know it's getting kinda chilly down there.

So I'm wondering what happened that made Max suddenly decide to make a song that wasn't completely slow, boring, and retarded. I'm gonna download the album one of these days just to be sure it's not just me, but it sounds to me like Soulfly are attempting to take a page from Max's golden days, and it sure beats what the ACTUAL Sepultura are doing these days.

Yeah I was watching Headbanger's Ball too yesternight... and I too was shocked that it was indeed Soulfly. I never really liked Soulfly, but the riff was really fucked up, although I found myself laughing in the end when the slow acoustic part came up. It was like wow, they crammed like 3 different songs into one. Great job Max.

I never got into Burzum and Varg as a person doesn't exactly make me want to try to get into them again.

No clue on the Deicide info but the other guitarist is ralph santolla. The Hoffmans left basically because of band drama. There is blame going back and forth between the brothers and glen about who was responsible for a lot of missed shows.

The last time Deicide came to Riley's Rockhouse in Aurora on the Vehemence/Behemoth/Amon Amarth tour, Deicide didn't show. We all got one free drink out of it and an extended Amon Amarth set. wasn't so bad I guess.

and Jack Owen going from Cannibal Corpse to Deicide is weird. I can't imagine from going to somewhat technical guitars in CC to elementary Deicide guitars. I don't know, I think he will get bored quick.

He was imprisoned for 21 years in 1993 for the murder of former friend Oystein Aarseth, also known as Euronymous, whom he stabbed 23 times. Aarseth was another leading member of the black metal scene that caught the imagination of the Norwegian press after a series of arson attacks on churches back in the '90s.

Vikernes himself had also been found guilty of the arson of a church in Bergen. On his arrest, police found 100 kg of explosives in his home.

In October 2003, he failed to return to prison after being granted a short leave, and was later apprehended by police with an unloaded assault rifle, 700 rounds of ammo, and a handheld GPS system.

He is expected to be released on probation in April 2006.

Yeah, cause trusting someone with a track record like that makes SO much sense. Who cares at any rate, Varg said he's adbandoned Burzum and we'll never see him again. Hell we're never gonna see another Dunkeheit again anyway, so I wouldn't even care if Varg said he'd continue Burzum.

I gave Arcturus a chance on La Masquerade Infernale. Didn't care for them then, I doubt they'll impress me now. Despite Garm being an ex member and me completely in love with his work. Arcturus was never more than mildly listenable. I guess I'm just sick of the oversaturated melodic black genre. It's good stuff I just don't care for it.

God Dethroned (does anyone know if the latest release is any good?)
Luca Turilli
Soilwork (first two albums are nice)
Trivium (kinda weak, but eh)

I'm not really subgenre specific; anything is good, though I particularly dig music in the vein of the first three I mentioned.

Nightrage( like DG mentioned)
Dark Tranquility( all of their stuff is good, i favor Damage Done)
H.I.M. ( yes, i actually like them. some people here might flame me for it, but i don't give a shit.....check out Razorblade Romance and Dark Light)

just a few to get you started. i'll post some more later

let's see off the top of my head:

*Dark Tranquility (really damn good)
Eternal Tears of Sorrow (more copycatness in an oversaturated genre)
Soilwork (more copycatness in an oversaturated genre)
*At the Gates (the first melodic death band Ill put on)
Borknagar/Dimmu Borgir/Cradle of crap/Arcturus/Old Man's Child/Gehenna (for that black metalish melody)
Therion (one of the earlier melodic/symphonic metal bands)
Babylon Whores (clean death WTF?)
Coheed and Cambria (copycats)

Scrolling down my library:

Alarum (more copycatness of technical death metal IIRC)
Amorphis (kinda proggy)
Arsis (technical)
Candlemass (Doom, but well it's got both melody and metal)
*Dan Swano's Moontower (producer of Opeth's decent albums a.k.a. before Steven Wilson/ also did bloodbath first album, and like 1 million and one other projects) So brilliant I ejaculate in my pants when I hear it (it's 70s prog gone metal but it's too good not to hear).
Nightwish (opera)
After Forever (opera)
Lacuna coil (female vox)
*Star One (if you like the above two bands at all, and even if you don't listen to these guys first, this is a super group type thing)
Diabolical Masquerade (Death's Design is their best, it's Blackheim moving away from the Katatonia Sound)
Edge of Sanity (Dan Swano)
Emperor (because they win)
Finntroll (polka)
Nokturnal Mortem (new kings of melodic black)
Vancouver
*Quo Vadis

* = stands out
everything else is just simply if you like the genre that much you can oversaturate your ears with it.

New In Flames is alright, it would be good mainstream metal. It's better than both STYE and RTR not as strong as Clayman but they've changed their sound enough not to compare. I still miss my Jester Race.

And honestly there are at least 10 million bands pulling this melodic death sound. I can't believe you need to ask for bands.

In the COB/Kalmah vein, I'd definitely be looking at At the Gates (the originals and best), Quo Vadis, Dark Tranquility, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, and maybe Arsis as well.

...So why is Coheed and Cambria on that list?

Also, I'm on a 56k connection, so I don't get to hear or find much new shit without getting a friend to find it for me anyway.

Yes, I'm aware there are tons of bands going for melodic death. Problem is, I never get to hear any of them, and I know that statistically, a lot (if not most) of them are likely to be terrible (same with any genre, particularly metalcore).

I don't care too much about the "copycat" bs, because a lot of people said Kalmah sounded like COB when their music is NOTHING like COB's, aside from the fact that it's melodic.

Azagtoth: here are some more bands you should check out

Imperanon( symphonic metal, somewhat comparable to early COB....somewhat. they only have one album i believe, called Stained)

Callenish Circle( melodic/prog death....check out their new album Pitch Black Effects. also check out My passion your pain)

Agathodaimon( melodic black/goth.....check out their first 3 albums. their 4th one, Serpents Embrace isn't that great, IMO)

Therion( symphonic metal......check out their albums Lemuria and Sirius B)

Susperia( Thrashy melodic black/death......check out their latest album Unlimited. Their 1st album, Predominance is also good. Vindication kind of sucks, though)

...And Oceans - The Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts

Bloodthorn - In the Shadow of your Black Wings

Ancient - The Cainian Chronicle
" - The Halls of Eternity

Zyklon - Aeon

Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

if anyone here has not heard some of these albums, i would recommend checking them out. Bloodthorns first album is really good. it's like epic viking black metal. but after that album, they sort of switched to death metal. i also recommend ...and oceans. they're a black metal band from finland, although their later albums have progressed alot more.

I recently got the new decapitated and this album is amazing. The guitars, the drums, even the new vocalist is awesome. It is so awesome that they are young guys cause that means there are that many more albums to come from them.

Other stuff I picked up recently

Psycroptic - Symbols of Failure... holy shit, if you are any kind of musician.. the guitars/drums/bass are amazing but what ruins it for me is the constant vocals. It seems like he never stops and most of the times slurs his words. Musically awesome, vocally retarded.

Centinex- Diabolical Designation & World Declension- great stuff, reminds me of the Entombed album "Left Hand Path"

Ram-zet- Intra - really long songs with cool parts but will probably be a big hit for you or a giant miss. two singers, one male one female.. a really great band, musically interesting.

Severe Torture- Fall of the Despised.. Great death metal album. Added a new guitar player and a different vocal style. a quality cd

Got some other stuff like Vintersorg- the Focusing Blur and Disiplin - Anti-life but the new decapitated has stolen all my listening time.

I like Panopticon alot. I can't really compare it to Oceanic because they're both really great albums. Haven't heard Red Sea as it never caught my interest. They're going on tour soon, so don't miss 'em!

And Pelican, ehh. Pelican has good guitar playing and atmosphere, but the drumming sucks. It flat out SUCKS. On the first song of Australasia the drummer does the same roll atleast 20-30 times! He's offtime, his drums sound bad. Everything about him sucks. If you can look past that, then I guess it's a good album. The best song on the album is a no name track(Ironically there's no drumming it). It's called "-" or something like that.

I haven't heard Pelican's latest album. Anyone know if the drumming has gotten better?

K I won't check out Pelican then. Cause the drumming is definitely one of Isis' strongest points. The drum progression on songs like Weight blows my mind. And to be completely honest. I thought Panopticon was complete garbage. It was like they pulled an Akerfeldt. Honestly, It lacked direction. It felt exactly like Oceanic but without some theme and flow to carry it through.

All I got was just experimental stuff. Which ended up being highly boring. Oceanic took me somewhere and then dropped me off at a nice place. Panopticon just sorta ended. Like halfway through an idea. I was completely dissapointed with the album. I mean I love Isis, even their noisier Red Sea era stuff, but Panopticon was just trash.

I want to pee my pants in excitement.

Right, so I'm looking into Head Control System (Daniel Cardoso + Krystoffer Rygg, album to come out sometime this year = me peeing my pants anyway) and I get directed to their myspace account. Then I click their wikipedia entry on Head Control System. This brings me to the Ulver page on Wikipedia. So I'm reading this article on Ulver when at the bottom it says:

Quote:
Ulver have most recently collaborated with doom/sludge/drone rock/metal band Sunn O))) on a 15-minute track which will appear on Sunn O)))'s upcoming WHITEbox box set, to be released in the Spring of 2006. Additionally, Ulver had announced they had been working on a string remake of Nattens Madrigal, but have not commented on it since before the release of Blood Inside.

And I'm like WOW OMFGLOLWTFGGPO FUCK YES!

like Sunn 0))) box set is like WOW YES! but collaboration with ULVER??? HOLY SHIT!

Anyways, I try and verify this by visiting first jester-records.com but you know how cryptic and uniformative Garm is on that site. Yeah I'll write random gibberish for my bands bios then not tell you anything until well after the fact. So I'm like yeah, it's not like they'd tell me they collaborated with Sunn 0))) anyways.

So I visit Southern Lord (Label for Sunn 0)))) and I'm like wow, you guys are still advertising the release of black one like it still hasn't happened. Excellent.

So if any of you are interested (and you fucking should be) keep your eyes peeled. And post any other related news.

I actually didn't mind him too much, but I think they could find a better vocalist. He was just a bit too hardcore/tough-guy sounding for my taste. If the new dude is closer to a traditional death metal vocalist or has some more range I'll be happy.

Definitely sounds like something he would do. His lyrics were hilarity.

I liked his sound particularly because he was so intelligible; that's something few people with scream vocals can accomplish.

Oh well, hopefully the next guy can pull a better sound while still keeping it intelligible.

Jesse whats-his-name left for his other band, Sleeping Girl, some pussy acoustic/indie/emo shit.

I actually didn't mind him too much, but I think they could find a better vocalist. He was just a bit too hardcore/tough-guy sounding for my taste. If the new dude is closer to a traditional death metal vocalist or has some more range I'll be happy.

can't be worse than Sean Reinhart and Paul Masvidal doing their thing with Aeon Spoke (drummer and guitarist respectively for Deaths' Human album and Cynic fame)

I just got the Haymaker album by Throwdown, it's probably the most hardcore shit I've ever listened to. When I went to see them at a concert a couple months ago I had never heard of them, but they are the DEFINITION of kicking ass. You just listen to it and you get pumped and wanna stomp some shit.

Then I got this other CD by God Forbid, it seemed pretty cool when I listened to it in the store but I haven't heard it all the way through yet.

FTK - I've heard Despised Icon. I think they're okay. I'm more into real old school, thrashy type death metal such as Frightmare, Grave, etc. and stuff like Cryptopsy,
Suffocation.

Has anyone here heard Nocturnal Rites before? Their new album(Grand Illusion) is really good. This one is best described as real heavy arena rock, in the vein of Bon Jovi and Styx, but better IMO

Lately i've been listening to Pantera mainly.

Yeah the DF cd, Inhuman Rampage, came out some time ago. In fact a friend of mine went from Puerto Rico to Chicago just to see them live and got all their cd's autographed... damn bastard.

Nocturnal Rites is awesome as fuck. I really love "I'm still alive", and "One by One". The guitarist is really good, lots of melodic and shred solos which are always awesome. But I don't think it qualifies as "arena rock", although it has it's moments... I just can't picture Bon Jovi singing "Fools never die":wgrin:

You're not using the Metal Zone as your main distortion, are you? Those Triple Rectifier amps have pretty sweet built in distortion, IIRC. I used to use a Metal Zone pedal back in the day, but it sounded like ass at high volumes for me, so I just switched to amp distortion with a Boss Super Overdrive pedal for excellent crunch (that pedal is the shit: it makes even Crate's amp distortion sound closer to Peavy's).

Annihilator - King of the Kill
From all the way back in 1994, man time flies. Pretty weak vocals but there is some great guitaring in this.

Judas Priest - Painkiller
Absolute classic.

Motörhead - My collection of 40 favourite songs
I don't really consider them metal, but in some circles they might be called such. Just can never get enough of Lemmy and the gang.

Slayer - Diabolus in Musica
My fave Slayer album, also the only Slayer record I own. I should probably remedy that someday.

Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos, Stabbing the Drama

I guess I'll chime in with what's been spinning in my player recently:

Emperor - Scattered Ashes: A Decade of Imperial Wrath
It took me forever to get into Emperor (I remember someone sending "The Source for Icon E" in like '98), until I heard "Inno A Satana" on the special features of "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" (an AWESOME film BTW, everyone in this thread should watch it and all the special features on the 2nd DVD). That song is amazing, and now I'm smacking myself for not getting into them earlier.

Korpiklaani - Tales Along this Road
I need to pick up a legit version of this - for those who haven't heard the band, think Great Big Sea or other traditional folk music (accordions, flute, bouncy rhythms), but METAL. Awesome party / driving music.

Strapping Young Lad - The New Black
It's been leaked, and it's really good. More Devin Townsend Band - ish than previous releases, but there's still crazy drumming parts, I would even say the craziest in SYL's history (go Gene!). And we finally get a studio version of "Far Beyond Metal", complete with a guest appearance by a certain GWAR lead vocalist :)

Sonata Arctica - The End of this Chapter
SA have so many songs with truly memorable choruses: Wolf & Raven, The Cage, Ain't Your Fairytale, Blank File, the list goes on. Another awesome driving CD.

Ewigkeit - Radio Ixtlan
Everyone that reads this, please visit Ewigkeit's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/ewigkeit23) and listen to the 3 songs from his latest album, "Conspiritus". This man (the band is just 1 guy) is far too little - known for how good his music is. It's a mixture of Industrial and Hard Rock, with nice keyboard work in all of the songs. "Radio Ixtlan" is the album before Conspiritus, and it's just as good.

BANDS YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT:

If you like Meshuggah, check out Textures (http://www.textures.nl) and Coprofago (http://www.coprofago.com/). I have the first Textures CD and can vouche for it's quality, they have a new release but I need a place to order it from here in Canada. Coprofago have 2 songs you can download from their site, and they both sound pretty decent. Doesn't hurt that their lead singer sounds exactly like Destroy Erase Improve - era Tomas Haake ;)

If you like Cyber Metal (Demanufacture - era Fear Factory, for example), hit up Sybreed (http://www.sybreed.com/index2.htm). Their first CD, "Slave Design" is REALLY good (gets frequent spins in my car), and shouldn't be that hard to find online.

Then right behind comes Clayman, which is another cd when they were perfect. Both of those albums are cds that you dont skip one song on because they all are amazing. Well at the moment I play a Jackson King V, but im quite tired of it. I want to buy an ESP Eclipse, its a fucking sweet guitar. Other than that i use DOD pedals and i use Peavey amplification. I think when it comes to metal that Peavey is the greatest in sound and gear. BTW Zyklon fucking rips.

I still say Slayer's Show No Mercy/Haunting the Chapel was their best. But that's me.
Alot of old school metal heads compare Slayer's Diabolus in Musica to Metallica's Load or Megadeths' Cryptic Writings and call it the worst of the bunch.

If you're a fan of the new Slayer you should probably love God Hates Us All (The album I hate the most hahaha). Otherwise stick with everything before Seasons in the Abyss.

If you're the old Slayer fan, Celtic Frost is amazing.

My all time favourite metal album is still Isis - Oceanic.

Azagtoth - I don't use the Metal Zone pedal as my main distortion. I had the pedal before I got the M/B half stack....from time to time i'll fuck around with it, cause it's a great pedal...... The best distortion pedal, IMO.

Episode_667 - It's cool to see you like Emperor. They are definitely one of my favorites. Have you heard Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise yet? Over the years, that record has become my favorite by them. You should definitely pick it up. If your into "cyber" metal, you should check out Threat Signal. They sound like a mix of Meshuggah and Fear Factory. I heard a song from Music Choice and it was pretty good

Cenotaph - I would have to agree with you.....In Flames were at their prime with Whoracle. I love the song Episode 666. Eventually I would like to get a Jackson or ESP. And yes, Zyklon does rip!!!

From the tracks that are on Scattered Ashes, Prometheus seems like a mixed bag to me. On one hand "In the Wordless Chamber" is pretty good, while "The Tongue of Fire" kinda drags without much direction. I also have an mp3 of "The Eruption", and used to have one of "He Who Sought the Fire", so I'll give those a spin as well. But yeah, everything I've heard is that it requires a few listens to appreciate.

I found Threat Signal's MySpace page, and am listening to one of their tunes (Counterbalance) right now, it seems alright. More melo-death than what I was expecting, but still pretty decent quality. They're signed to Nuclear Blast too, good for them (Canadians represent!).

Oh yeah, any Borknagar fans here? "Colossus" is one of the best songs ever written, period. The lyrics alone are amazing.

Edit: Threat Signal actually remind me a lot of Raunchy's newest stuff (Death Pop Romance)...which I actually don't like, unfortunately. The music is alright, but a number of things, including the lead singer's Phil Anselmo - like screams (a lot of people seem to be doing that lately, it's getting really annoying) just don't click with me.

Not by far. If you wanted claim to the greatest Borknagar song, Genuine Pulse >>>>>>>>> Colossus.

But all in all Borknagar has been incredibly unimpressive and increasingly so with each album. Melodic black is such an oversaturated genre, and while Borknagar is one of the best, it's only so long before you get right fucking sick of it.

Re: Motorhead

Motorhead is not speed metal by a long shot. They have more in common with punk before speed metal. If I wasn't calling motorhead hard rock, I'd definitely be calling it punk.

EDIT: HOLY CRAP too many of us are Ontario natives who play fighting games and listen to metal. WTF. (I hail from Ottawa)

I barely listen to metal any more, but the super-obscure Satan - Court in the Act album is great heavy/proto-speed metal from like 1984 or something. Incredible lead guitar work, I advise you check it out. The CD is out of print though.

Yeah, it's pretty nice when you're just jamming on headphones and shit. What tuning do you have the 7 string set to?

Cenotaph: I definitely agree about Peavy amps. Peavy = 6 fucking gain stages = <3. I'm rocking an Ibanez half stack for the moment (cheap, and with the Boss Super Overdrive pedal for added gain stages, the sound is still pretty nice) until I can save up for a Peavy.

Right now I have it tuned down a 1/2 step to Bb. Occasionally i'll have it in standard, then drop the 7th string to A. But I mainly keep it down a 1/2 step

Episode_667: I kind of agree with you. When I first started listening to Emperor, I just thought they were okay. But I kept listening to them, and my interest kept growing. My favorite songs on Prometheus are The Prophet and Thorns on my Grave. I would say Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is my 2nd favorite album.

orochi_shin - You should put up the songs you used to have on there....they rocked!!!!!

Right now i'm listening to Nocturnal Rite's new album, Grand Illusion. If you haven't picked it up yet, I suggest you do so. It is IMO, their best work yet.

You're a really good guitar player, dude!!!! I was digging those tracks. I'd definitely love to hear them when you get a singer and some keyboards

Do you have your guitar tuned down a whole step to D?

Ah you love in FL too bro? We should both play a show together when our bands are ready. Rid The Disease is good shit by the way. Sounds like In Flames. Which is fucking amazing. Alot of people try to sound like them today but soil them. Check out this guitar track from my band. www.myspace.com/endsoftheearth

Thanks a lot bro!

I have a Jackson Randy Rhoads Guitar... crimson swirl color which makes it uber evil :wgrin: Amp? I use a Peavey Transtube Bandit II, Pedal? a Korg AX10G. I use a pretty simple rig really.

We took out the other songs because they featured our old singer, and well now I'm the band's lead singer:wonder:

But we're gonna be updating the site, put up the new songs which, if you're a shred fan you'll love. Now I'm pretty much going to be doing all the band's guitar solos sence our other guitarist left, and the new guitarist just wants to stick to rhythm. I ain't complaining I'll be shredding my ass off and enjoying every minute of it.

Thanks a bunch man, I really needed that. One track is in D standard, and the other two are in dropped D-flat. I'm just hoping I can find a good keyboardist: most of Miami's local scene is dominated by hardcore/metalcore and indie, so I've been having trouble finding people.

Cenotaph: Thanks a lot dude; good to see more people repping Florida. Sweet lead on that track, btw.

Azagtoth - Hopefully you find some people to play with soon. Good luck, bro

Cenotaph - I checked your myspace as well, good shit, bro.

YEAH! I might do a Jason Becker cover song on my band's set list. It would be awesome to just chill and shred. Here in Puerto Rico, mostly everyone loves shredders, well good shredders ala Becker, Friedman you know, not mindless shredding.

You know it would be freaking awesome to have an intense jamming session or make a metal band with SRK members.

 Hilarious when tries to shred and salvage that song, not to mention his various pauses when trying to move his hand to far away frets.

Havent read this thread in long while but has anyone hear heard Master Of Puppets: Remastered. I recently heard the whole thing and have to say it was pretty decent. Most of the songs were spot on, just different tunings. Triviums cover of MoP was pretty much exactly the same except for the vocals which Matt Heafy does a good job on. The only real songs that really stuck out to me were The Thing That Should Not Be and Sanitarium. Never heard of Mendeed but they were one of the few bands to improvise on a song a bit, great drum fills. Sanitarium was okay, the only reason it stuck out though IMO was because of the lame vocals. I was expecting to hear some growling vocals during the chorus.
