Everyone go listen to Altars of Madness. I always knew how good this shit was, but then I read the insert for the first time last and I quote:
'Morbid Angel's message is about thinking for yourself. To be a force that loosens and helps to tear down the conditioned limiting paradigms which enslave mankind by blocking the realization, flow and manifestations of Spirit in their lives. To interrupt the mass hypnosis that hinders one's pursuit of their dreams and causes the illusion of separation from the Higher Self. To promote clarity and to quiet the clamoring of those treacherous ones who seem only to wish confusion and belittlement upon mankind by influencing us to willingly receive and find comfort in these shackles presented to us all by the falsifiers. To shine some light, which removes the shadows and illusions, so we all may reach the potential that is ours by birthright. And it's not about destroying those who try to manipulate for they are already their own worst enemy, but rather to remove within ourselves the fear induced confusion which would give nourishment to their unskilled influences and ultimately give aid to those disconnected ones as to help free themselves from their own sufferings and "sin". Only once this dilapidated "unreal" foundation is cleared away can the individual witness the Affluence of the Living Continuum and utilize the magic that is deep within each and everyone of us, always.'

I don't mind that genre name actually. Think rock vs. avant garde rock.
A lot of the music I like seems to be described by that avant garde term.
Anyways, for all the other avant garde fans out there (as in the genre, not the band) Dodheimsgard's 666 International was fucking brilliant:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=T_5KRUSBOvk
You know, I had about 4 paragraphs worth of arguments about how the Avant Garde label gets thrown around too often...
Around the 5th paragraph, I was thinking how pointless the entire thing was and started listening to Slayer instead...:rock:

I just read about the exhumed to consume tour, and I am incredibly jealous of anyone that has it coming through their city. Lineup includes just to name a few Aborted, Necrophagist, 1349 (Who I really want to see live one of these days, bonus points if Frost is drumming too), Suffocation, and headlining is Carcass.
Holy Shit.

Fixed for you. :wgrin:
From what I know about him (Trey), the guy does seem pretty cool.
Fuck, here I am doing the genre thing. 'Scuse me while I go hang myself.
Baited.
Maybe some people find it easy shorthand, but it just further confuses me. Every fucking post hardcore band adds "Progressive" as one of their genres on myspace and everyone just assumes that means "better than something that isn't Progressive."
I mean, if it works for some of you guys, great, but I don't get it.
The name does have it's own conventions genre-wise, but most of those kids have the very mindset you mentioned and think listing themselves as progressive when they're just like every other post-hardcore band will make them look musically enlightened somehow. I'll be the first to admit I'm not all that familiar with the genre, but it's not that difficult to discern when they're bullshitting/misguided.

My band signed up for MySpace as "progressive/experimental" because we pretty much have no other idea what we should list ourselves as. Get four guys into a room with four very different sets of influences and have fun figuring out what to call it.
So, whatever. Yay progressive music.

22 tracks 36 minutes

I'm really bored with metal; almost everything seems to be 100% style and no substance. Stupid myspace bands and mediocre stuff abounds :(
However, I was recently introduced to an album which I'm listening to almost constantly. Its Shadows, by Creepmime. I'm a little sad that the first thing I've enjoyed listening to for a long time comes from 1993, but yeah, thought I'd pass it on.

Bored with metal ?! Check out Symhony X's album V.. some amazing shit going on there.
What does everyone think of Matt Barlow coming back to Iced Earth? I personally like Iced Earth a lot but when they got that new singer I was dismayed and confused.. I really liked Barlow's vocals.. but now hes coming back!!!! But will it be the same again? I actually like some of their songs with Owens and that new promo CD with Barlow singing sounds real good.
I have hopes, but I'm not sure if the lyrics will all be that great again. Latley its been about southern wars and setians and shit lol.

symphony x and iced earth are probably the last things this guy wants to hear. Even I am familiar with being bored of metal.
albums made in the last 5 years (sorta metal, but not really) that I would actually recommend as interesting.
Earth - Hex Or Printing In The Infernal Method
Isis - In the Absence of Truth
Boris - Pink
Khanate - capture/release
Nasum - Helvete (they've since done 4 other albums, but I haven't heard them)
Ulver - Blood Inside
Upland - Obliterated
so basically nasum is the only real metal on there. and it's death/grind. The rest of my list is really interesting though.

I disagree, I like to have music available. My music taste is variable with my mood, I'm not going to take a death metal recommendation and then listen to it until I digest it. It's in all likelyhood gonna sit there until I'm ready to listen to it. Then it's going to wait til I'm in that mood several times, until I've listened to it enough to digest it. This can take years.
Sometimes, I just get on bouts of music. For instance I just recently went through a trance phase and downloaded several gigs of trance music. I gave them all several cursory listens, picked out the tracks/artists I liked and then listened to them even more.
Filtering music to your tastes is a long laborious process. I'm never gonna just listen to one album and take it for granted. I fully understand that every album NEEDS to be digested, it's just that I'm going to eat it while I'm shopping.

To each his own. I never meant to say my way was right. I've just found whenever I grabbed 5 albums at a time I ended up never listening to 4 of them, and it usually takes me at least 10-20 listens to an album before I start to hear everything thats going on. It makes it fucking hard to keep up when everyone else is spinning 30+ new albums a year.

I just go to my local indepedant record store. The guys who own the store, book and promote the shows. they have their own site: http://www.punkottawa.com/shows/index.shtml which shows the listings for basically all the punk/metal/hardcore/indie shows in ottawa.
Just find out who promotes the shows nearby. Promoters will always be obliged to give you the low down on anything interesting happening.

Get on the mailing list for Culture Room and Revolution if you haven't already. Most of the decent metal shows we get end up being there, Miami itself doesn't get much (we got Progressive Nation, at least).
If you find a good site, let me know.

Can anyone here recommend me some Van Halen? My three favorite Van Halen albums (three of my all-time favorite albums, in fact) are:
Van Halen
This is the album with the bulk of their biggest tunes from their club days in the 70s. It's nothing terribly sophisticated, but it rocks with its balls out. The production is unique among Van Halen albums, especially Ed's guitar--it's very trebly and high gain (for those days) with that cool slow motion phasing that he loved back then. This is the album that earned him his reputation for batshit crazy guitar solos.
Tunes to check out on this one: "Eruption" (natch), "On Fire," "Runnin' With the Devil," "I'm the One," "You Really Got Me"... pretty much all of it.
Fair Warning
This seems to be the bastard child of early Van Halen albums, but I fucking love it. It has tunes that introduce elements of blues, reggae, and funk, while keeping one foot solidly planted in rock territory. Ed's playing is actually pretty rhythm-heavy on this one, but it has some of his most interesting lead work as well.
Tunes to check out on this one: "Mean Streets" (oh, those solos), "Unchained," "Sinners Swing," "Hear About It Later" (maybe their poppiest tune from these days)
1984
To me, the production on this album is the quintessential Van Halen song. Mike's bass is full but unobtrusive, Al's drums are absolutely perfect and miles above the freeze-dried drum tones of the 80s, and Ed's guitar is at the apex of its tone. He turned his gain down and trusted his hands to produce the sound, which is very organic. The songs are at their most economical and riffy. Ed played like a kid in a candy store on the earlier albums, but here he plays like the master that he is.
"No duh" tunes: "Jump," "Panama," "Hot For Teacher"
Less obvious, but equally great tunes: "Top Jimmy," "Drop Dead Legs," "House of Pain" (apparently a castoff from the very first album, for some crazy reason)
You've probably noticed, but I have a huge soft spot for Van Halen. Ed has always been my favorite guitarist, and I credit him with turning me onto both the electric guitar and music in general.

No love for Sammy Hagar?5150 definitely hangs with the earlier albums, but when I'm going strictly by my personal favorites, I don't feel the need to be inclusive to all VH singers. 5150 isn't as definitive or good as the ones I previously mentioned, and the production is a huge letdown after the quintessential sound of 1984. The rocking tunes are a little bland, but the poppier songs are great. It's not as good as VH2, but it's probably better than Women and Children First, and much better than Diver Down.
OU812 has some good moments as well ("Cabo Wabo," "Finish What Ya Started," "When It's Love"), but to me, this was the beginning of Serious Van Halen. Not that the previous albums weren't Serious in some respects, but this was Serious Van Halen that took itself way too Seriously. Some bands, like Rush, are good at Serious. Van Halen don't do Serious well.
By the F.U.C.K. album, they had gotten so Serious that their lighter side--previously their bread and butter--actually started to suffer. I wouldn't recommend any of the 90s albums. I wouldn't change the station if the songs came on the radio, but I wouldn't go out of my way listen to them for personal enjoyment. They're just not very good.

Not exactly metal but I saw Blue Oyster Cult almost a week ago. They were playing a free show in my downtown area and I thought why the hell not, they have an ok rep and it's free. Not a big BOC fan, only recognized two songs, but the extended guitar solo in the middle of their set was pretty good.
UFO ended up playing the day after with some local band and an AC/DC cover band opening for them but I didn't have time to go the festival that day. Allegedly this was the only show UFO was going to play in the US this year and that my city/town shelled out some cash to fly them over here and have them play. Hopefully the city decides to book popular bands again next year, maybe something a little harder this time.

It was the best song of the night IMO. It was the second to last song of their set, one of the singers/guitarists starts on some spiel about some monster and everyone knows whats next. Didn't recognized the bassist but he apparently used to play bass for Quiet Riot and Whitesnake. During the middle of Godzilla they paused from the song and played some parts from a Whitesnake song, can't remember if they did any QR stuff, and a bit of Crazy Train (Randy Rhoads reference) then finished Godzilla.

Honestly I used to be a huge fan of them when I was more into American metalcore stuff, but it doesn't sound like they want to grow out of their role of being the other Shadows Fall/KSE/whatever band, so I dunno. First song was generic (singy chorus that they did on almost every song on the last album, cool solo though), the second was boring, and they've shown they can easily do much better than this.

I personally don't like a lot of metalcore, due mainly in part because of the sound obviously; however, one thing that always bothered me about the metalcore scene was the hardcore dancers lol. You said it yourself, you're going into the pit (kudos to anyone who just got the Testament reference), so you're going there to mosh, not karate chop peoples' heads off .
This is my first post on SRK, so I just wanted to start off with a few rec's that I think have not been given yet (sorry, the thread is just so old that I decided not to go thoroughly into it just to give some rec's). It's mostly oldschool and some traditional, technical death.

Dehumanized - Prophecies Foretold
Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes
Desultory - Into Eternity

Morpheus Descends - Ritual of Infinity
Ripping Corpse - Dreaming With The Dead

Cool stuff. I also play guitar, even if I consider myself a drummer. This January I picked up this miniature Vee by Epiphone (appropriately titled the 'VeeWee') and it's pretty sick for a small-scale axe. The pickup is NICE. I usually use it to mess around with leads because you need to tune it up a few steps for it to stay in tune at all . I can't sweep, but I like to think that I know my scales enough to create somewhat neoclassical leads.
I wish I could post some stuff. I made a bunch of metal riffs that I've been meaning to turn into songs but was always too lazy to organize them.

I think most metal fans are just so-so at guitar. I fuck around on guitar and sometimes piano. I used to be a somewhat competent brass player (trumpet, euphonium etc.) but it's a bit harder to find groups where horns fit in outside of academia.

Azagtoth your group is sick. It has a much more interesting direction than most of today's bandwagon -core fest (it makes ACTUAL use of melody, rather than riding At The Gates' and In Flames' dicks ). I'm a drummer, but I don't have a developed foot to keep up with blasting and I've never owned a double pedal lol. Still, I try to keep up drumming with the likes of Dark Angel and other speedy thrash outfits.
Anyone here know of a Japanese melodic death metal band named Intestine Baalism? If you don't I suggest you GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GOOGLE THEM.
Two bands that I can recommend to people who try to keep it with the likes of Sabbath (and specifically Sabbath) are Reverend Bizarre and Saint Vitus.

Do you create sections for other instruments on some computer program? I had a friend who did this but I never got into it. I think he only programmed some drum part that did blast-beats at like 250 bpm for some uber amount of time, just sounded to artificial.

Sounds like they're pandering to people who still get a boner over ...And Justice For All. Meh.
as one of the few guys that actually seem to not hate songs off of ...And Justice For All, i'll say that if you took out Hetfield's singing, the song would sound like one of those "stock" songs that they play on clip shows like Max X- you know, the ones that kind of sound like a song you've heard before, but the chord progression was reversed so they wouldn't get sued...
but since it is Metallica, i'll listen to the album when it comes out to make a fair judgment.

They're buying into the same cliches as all the post-Metallica metal bands, and the irony is that they themselves unwittingly brought those cliches into existence in the first place. It would be like Van Halen putting out a record that draws from Dokken and Ratt.

Metallica is just fresh out of ideas now. I think 99% of bands who write a great album in their career kind of stumble upon that greatness on accident. It's no genius at work. I'm starting to lump Metallica into that group now except that they were able to continue to write new songs in the same style for several albums. Maybe at one point they were creative, but they've boxed themselves in, so the only way anyone will say anything positive about them is if they cannibalize their old stuff. I'll take Judas Priest rehashing over Metallica rehashing.

08-13-2008, 07:58 AM
Metallica were a great band once. Their energy and technique on Kill 'Em All is still impressive. 25 years later, they still have the technique, but the energy is gone. It happens to the best of them and there's nothing wrong with it, but you do have to accept sooner or later that they can't possibly replicate what they used to have at this point.
It helps that they were in the right time and place to be part of an exploding social movement, which ended in the same way as any social movement: capitalized on by corporations and beset with endless imitators. For further reference, see just about any noteworthy rock band of the 60s and early 70s.

Brujeria and Asesino though I really haven't listened to either one lately, I won't go into labels since thats not my thing.
As far as Metallica thing goes I agree genius and talent cant be recreated. They still have the talent (some less than others) but they just don't have the right mindset anymore. Times change and so do ideas and bands just sometimes put out shitty albums, but that doesn't diminish old ones. There are also other points to why where they are today but too much to discuss over and internet board IMO.

As best as I can explain it, they started out more along the lines of black metal (Metsa + Tama Ikuinen Talvi demos), developed a more overtly folky sound (Suden Uni, Voimasta Ja Kunniasta, Kivenkantaja), and then the folk influences became more subtle and they put a lot more emphasis on giving the music more atmosphere as well as a bigger, more epic feel (Verisakeet and onward).
IMO everything they do is great but go ahead and check out Kivenkantaja if you haven't already, and two of the songs from the old demos were rerecorded for the Tulimyrsky EP, so check those out as well.

except windir, it's good, but windir doesn't work it for me. None of the melo black gets me going. I think borknagar did some good stuff, but all the cradle/dimmu/100 spin off melo blacks bore me to tears.
the synth melodies+clean vox choruses kinda get to everyone's ears eventually.

I had long hair in high school, but my head is too large for it to really look good on me. The natural largeness of my cranium is amplified by my thick hair when it reaches an appreciable length. I then tried shaving it, which was possibly worse because I looked like a light bulb balanced on a poseable action figure.
These days, I have a rather conservative short cut, and I've also ditched the "all black, all the time" shit I used to wear. These days, you don't know I'm metal until I pick up a guitar, inform you that your taste in music is for pussies, or rep the Anselmo face (you know, the furrowed brow, exaggerated frown, and scrunched up chin and nose).
I found out today that Paul Gilbert came out with another instrumental album earlier this year, and was pissed that it went for so long beneath my notice. I'm listening to it on YouTube now and the tunes are pretty damn good.

One time, I was listening to Tool's Lateralus album in bed with headphones on. It was late at night and I was so tired, nearly asleep. Then "Faaip de Oiad" came on and scared the hell out of me.
ive had that happen to me before, but i was listening to Ahab's Call of the Wretched Sea. The first track starts of really dark and dreamy, then all of a sudden the guitars and drums come in at full force. Made me jump the first time i heard it.

Surprised I'd never heard of this band before. After listening to them, I think I can unfortunately see why :(
It does make me optimistic that the current trend of mediocrity will also disappear into history, eventually. That's the best that came out of "Twisted Into Form" for me. Do they have better stuff?

Just got back from Metal Masters. All in all it was okay. Testament had a really short set, five songs in all. Motorhead was badass, would of been better if it weren't for the sun being in my eye the whole time, Orgasmatron and Overkill were my faves of their set. Lemmy couldn't speak to save his life, slurred all his sentences in between songs. Heaven and Hell were boring IMO, long epic songs that lead to nothing, no Black Sabbath stuff sadly. Seeing Dio was cool though, hearing his voice on the recordings does no justice to hearing his voice live. Priest stole the show. Tipton and Downing hands down one of the best guitars duos ever. Only song I thought was missing was Living After Midnight

Sonata Arctica is my favorite metal band, but the vocals don't have to be clean.

That sucks that Testament's setlist is short, I bet a majority of the crowd don't even know who they were.
Motorhead's setlist sucks at Metal Masters, if he was going to choose two other songs from the Overkill album it shouldn't be those he chose to play live. I hope Motorheads setlist improves during his solo tour.
I prefer the Dio era over Ozzy era, even though I love the Ozzy era but its just too overrated, they have more awesome songs than just Paranoid and Iron Man.
Last year, it looks like Tony Iommi was having more fun with Heaven and Hell since he smiled more, I guess he doesn't have to think "Oh great, here I go and play Iron Man for the 17,000th time" anymore.
There is a reason why they named themselves Heaven & Hell, so Ozzy era fans won't start whining that they are not playing Paranoid or N.I.B., its all Dio era songs.
I'll be seeing them next sat 8/30.

My hair is as short as it can be without shaving your head. Hair doesn't mean shit. Long hair doesn't mean you listen to anything I don't have on my computer. I think that is the way metal is evolving too. People from all walks of life can enjoy it, its not for social outcasts. You should see the looks on the faces of my coworkers at 5:15 when we lock up the bank to go home and I jump in the car, take off my tie, and crank that General Surgery or whatever. They just about shit. Metal needs to lose the cheesy image and be recognized as a legitimate form of music. Leave the chains and parachute pants for the Slipknot fans. They can have them. Real metal is about the music. That said, I still <3 you guys, and I'm going to see Motorhead and Priest for the first time together tonight. Only a few bands left I need to see after that to die a happy man. Also...motherfucking Carcass is coming to town. I've been waiting for this for longer than most of you have been listening to metal. Hahaha. Stay metal.
I know this post is old but QTF forever.
Many don't think it of me for a second (especially when my hair is having it's shorter moments) until they snatch my MP3 player and have a big WTF moment. There are also shocks from people I know who see me at Opeth and Dark Tranquility concerts. I've heard of fans lately who now make a big deal about image or don't respect people who don't follow it and that makes me sick. I think that turns away a lot of people too who could potentially accept and even like it. I don't listen to it because I'm angry at the world or socially unaccepted. I do because it's just awesome.

Just got back from buying the new Metallica. Only heard the first two songs so far on my car ride back. First song surprised me a bit. Sounds like ...And Justice For All mixed with some Black Album with just a hint of St. Anger in there. More melodic than I expected especially with the solo. Some great harmony in there too and Ulrich actually does some technical stuff (technical for him at least). Got me excited, second just sounds like mid to early 90s Metallica, greaty harmony on the solo though. Going to listen to the rest of the album but I cant help but feel they still have that intense hard rock sound that teeters with metal, hope I'm wrong about that though.

I don't get this. You realize nu metal isn't called nu metal because it's somehow not heavy or whatever right? Fear Factory's Demanufacture is "heavier" than just about anything Metallica's ever done.
I like Load Metallica as a different entity entirely (IE a hard rock band and not a metal band), but I also think Thrash Metallica are a little too overrated and it's good to know most people have moved on to better things.

It's not really that subjective at all (IE Metallica's never done anything remotely close to nu metal stylistically, especially when you get past the even more subjective "claim nu metal as a insult to metal cred" thing that people love to use), but okay. :wgrin:

I get maybe two songs into the poo that is S&M (including the symphony by itself doing "The Ecstasy of Gold") before I have to turn it off. Same here barring any unforeseen circumstances. One of my friends band is going to open for them here. They opened for Testament last month.
Death Magnetic was an okay album. Definitely a step up from St. Anger, not that I didn't enjoy that album either. There are some good songs on the new album, some that even remind me of the old days, but like I said before the album just sort of blends some of their old former self that they want to recapture with their current hard rock sound that they just don't want to give up. I personally think if you combined St. Anger with the new album you'd had have a great album.
S&M really isn't good. Other than two or three songs, the music doesn't blend well, the orchestra just throw the songs way off kilter. I still slightly enjoy the album in doses but that's it.

Pretty cool so far. Which one is you?The really grimy, ugly-sounding guitar. We recorded with one mic, and unfortunately, I was too quiet, so we messed with the EQ to balance the guitars out. End result: you can here me, but my precious tone sounds like 90s grunge shit. [/egomaniacal guitar player]
If you're looking for me in the tunes, I have the solo at the beginning of "Wild Desert Bikers," the first solo in the outro of "Crooked House," and the chromatic licks in "2131." I pretty much stick to rhythm in "Clockwise," even though I wrote most of it and should be playing all the bitchin' leads. [/egomaniacal guitar player, for serious this time]

Haha that one is very chill. I'm kind of in the same boat with stuff I write since I can rarely play it I have to delegate to someone who actually practices. The bass work is solid. Not enough people are bold enough for bass lines that aren't just following progressions, or the same riff the guitar is playing.

It sucks that he's left, since it's rare to find musicians who just know exactly what to play.

Never liked them, don't dig the sound and they remind me too much of Tim & Eric. It's all about personal taste at the end of the day though. Also hate to sound like a drum nerd but the drummer is doing gravity rolls which is a cheap way some people use to blast.

Screw the other bands, did Watain used animal blood and carcasses on stage like last years tour?
We in California got fucked over from the tour since Watain didn't tour Cali.

Definitely not metal, but I saw Leo Kotke last friday, and that dude shreds like very no one I've ever heard. Very distinct style.

i should clarify. "win" in this case means "not a Jimmy Buffet cover band/jam band." i live in northern Louisiana, not where all the metal is happening. if i go out to see a friend's band it's always some jam band. every time i hear "jam band" i automatically think of a bunch of people that refuse to acknowledge a riff sucks, and play it for 7 minutes straight while everyone in the audience eats it up except me. now, a few years ago there was a big metal scene about 20 miles west of where i live where pretty cool concerts were happening (haunted house during October, concert hall the rest of the year) (http://www.edgeofmadness.com). but i think they stopped all that. i was surprised more than anything that a heavy band that sounds like Ghengis Tron was round here.
and i think the video is hilarious.
and screw you pherai. just cause she's a girl doesn't mean she's a gimmick  (could do without some of the sing parts though). do you think Arch Enemy is a gimmick also (serious question)?

Most definitely. I'll admit, there are gimmicks that I enjoy from time to time, and I'm not here to bash anything anyone likes, but I know Arch Enemy can contribute a significant part of their success to having a female singer. I can't prove it, but having seen way too many obnoxious sluts being tolerated by severely undersexed metal heads has convinced me of this truth. Her voice is indistinguishable from most male metal singers, and I am skeptical of her being in the band just cause she's some chill dude.

Leo is a god amongst us fingerstyle guitar types. He pretty much the only one I've heard that can make a 12-string sound decent in that style.

Yeah, metal women are just eye candy sex objects on stage :razzy:
I remember there was another band called Archenemy from California that was before the other Arch Enemy and they were better too.

Actually, I find her voice to be very distinguishable, just not in a good way. It's very shrill a lot of the time, even when she's trying to be guttural, it just doesn't come out the right way.
I wouldn't say it's so much a gimmick in the purely musical sense (technically, she's a fair bit better in many ways than the dude she replaced from the pre-Wages of Sin albums; if the rest of the band didn't subsequently drop the ball on the songwriting, they wouldn't be half bad now), but moreso a gimmick in that she's an attractive female and actively works that angle to her advantage.

I still haven't decided if I consider frontwomen as a gimmick for band to differentiate just for the sake of. Just because a band has a female vocalist doesn't mean she doesn't fit the musical style of said band. On the other hand I do consider a band like Kitty to be gimmicky up the ass. I'd like to say I don't like gimmick bands but I can't since I like GWAR, County Medical Examiners, and have been trying to start a band who doe's videogame covers, sadly I don't anyone who's into both metal and videogames.
Also just a quick rant. I hate people with superficial knowledge of subjects, in this case metal, and try to act as if they know everything. I especially hate it when you correct someone on faulty knowledge and they still cling to their original standpoint after being proven wrong. I'm not a dick, I don't correct people to make myself look better, I do it so they don't go about spouting wrong info. Long story short, I went to go see the guitar center drum off today explained to someone the differences between certain styles of drumming and was just brushed off. If I hear on how "badass" Joey Jordison or Chris Adler are from some 14 year old kid again (or even worse a 24 year old) I'm gonna have to pull a Misery and hobble them. Their good drummers but dammit they don't represent the entire drumming community in heavy metal and certainly aren't the cream of the crop. Just had to get that off my chest.
