I use ryu, what can i do about someone who just does lariat over and over, i can't fireball him as he can block right after like a dodge in cvs and i cant sweep either. maybe it was just laggy but on the odd occasion i play this game online i always face this shit.

Mullah, Let me expand on Grim's tip.. There are several ways to take out a top tier Gief. One way is to toss fireballs and keep him back out of range then fake a fireball every so often and sweep his ass. Yes its works just have to close the gap enough to get in. Another way its to toss a couple fireballs then jump in with a very high to head kick over the lariat. This will force him to block or he will take a hit in the head. Don't try to follow up the anything else just get back out range and repeat. The key here is stay the fuck away from him or you will get tossed around like a sack of potatoes. Another cool thing that works with Ryu Vs Gief is the hurricane kick trick. Your hurricane kick can beat his Lariat if timed properly I used it all the time with a about a 70% success rate.. which is enough to win the round.

Mullah, something I just remembered, if the zangief is the turbo version he is completely invincible if he does the KKK lariat, no sweeping there.

can i have my input here......there are a few things you can do but what i find the best against gief is to vary my fireballs alot and flying punch to head or flying kick to the head. if you are a ryu that has a air hurricane kick 2in 1 to the head if you can.

if like fuzzy said (was up fuzzy, how you doing?)and you is up against a turbo version then that person can't be sweeped but can be uppercuted so when in range dp his arse out of there.

another good point is to do the opposite of what mr tren said (@steve tren, played you once, you are quite good but the lag was bad stay cool)and throw geif now and again cause hardly any geif player will think thats what your gonna do and it does work.

i find air crossups hurricane kicks can keep gief honest with super or st ryu.....and do not get happy with your super fireball either at least make them block it.

i'm pretty sure its turbo gief man, cos i must have tried sweeping loads of times and it never worked!

so whats the final word? dragon punch and hurricain? thats pretty unreliable online if thats the case

if he is close you can actually grab him....meh it works some times but turbo zangief aint that great.
