View Full Version : How important is voice?

Just a general question. I really don't like playing people who are ranked higher than me (particular S and SS ranks) unless they have voice. The way I see it, if you can't talk, and you whoop my ass (not unheard of, lol), then I can't ask you what I did wrong. Sure, I'll throw out a match or something to someone without voice, but sometimes I think i'm being kind of an elitst bastard by basically not playing people without voice. Am I?

Just keep posting. Lots of people here will give good tips and help a lot.

Plus so far the guys here have been really cool. Fun to learn from the better players. Just keep at it. Soon enough you'll notice the difference.

My game jumped from completle shit to just plain shit. Next step is decent.

I've noticed some guys who used to drop on me or were unpleasant without the mic had changed their behaviors and bad habits when they plug it  Those guys are now on my FL and we have some good games :pleased:

But some of my other FL contact told me that those guys haven't changed their bad habits with them :xeye: I've asked them if they've put the mic. Answer was no!

So my conclusion is when players use the mic, they tend to adopt a decent behavior and vice versa. It isn't always the case coz sometimes it's better for your own hears safety to disconnect it :pleased: . So the mic may have some importance here.

It would be a great social study about the XBL players behavior, isn't it :bgrin: ?

My mic is broken and I use it when it works... Don't wanna buy another coz too expensive (between 15-30€, don't remember exactly)

Generally speaking most of my FL don't play with mics because they're playing on stick/Saturn pad through convertor.

The only time I've ever used the mic was when my connection cut out on Goutetsu just as he was about to get the KO, so I set up a rematch, plugged in the mic and explained what happened. And that was aaaages ago (plus talking while playing is really distracting IMO).

I've avoided playing people with mics on 3S Optimatch ever since ZEROTOLLERANCE discovered Xbox Live.

Yeah, most people don't use mics cuz it either distracts them or they use sticks that don't allow them to talk on the mic. I just don't use mic because there are a lot of really annoying trash talking losers out there and it's just a waste of time for the most part since it's just a one on one fighting game. If you need to know what you did wrong, just post here and I'll tell you how to improve. It's hard to learn how to improve over Xbox Live because of the slight delay you always get online.

I remember that. Mine broke this week as it happens so I won't be using it again.

I don't even bother plugging in the mic unless I'm playing against somebody I know. Too many trash-talkers out there.

most the time i just get to lazy to put it on when playing random ppl since most ppl dont talk even with the mic.

but anyway, if anyone sees me online and wants me to put on a mic... just tell me, and if i hear you through the speakers, i will put it on

I used to play a lot with mic, but since my T5 stick I don't anymore. My converter makes me sit a few inches for the TV to actually talk to someone, I got it plugged in just to say GG, when I'm leaving.

But for the question....your not a elitst bastard by not doing it. When I got my ass kicked (back in my voice communicator days)by SS ranked players, I was always imagining they where secretely making fun of me ^_^.

But just like everybody is saying, stay on the forum and you'll learn some really nice shit ...real fast!

I never play with the mic. Only because the only people I run into on live are either screaming in the mic or just cussing the whole time.

i remember when i played cvs2 on live with a mic

this guy was saying "who ya think u taunting bitch (...Lol) oooOo ima buss yo ass now" lol when he won he was bragging etc so i said to him "but youv got a customized groove, course your gonna win" the guy went MAD, imagine being locked in a small room with a vocal maniac lol, he picked C groove, i was just cracking up at his reaction to my reply, i decided to piss him off more with taunts, and he still barely won LOL he was quite high ranked aswell.

if i ever have to play with the analog of a fat xbox controller, ill use the mic to play mind games with the opponent, otherwise.. its distracting, you kinda get a friendly feel and dont really wanna make an honest effort, and why speak when you go online to relax?

its cool talking now and again but if u wanna get good save the talking for halo 2 or anything else lol

I like to think i'ts important, but within the week I've been playing online, I've learned the language of the fists. It's kind of funny when I taunt someone for fun and I notice them getting a little more agressive. Other times you can tell when someone is fighting calm and smart, or just throwing everything out.

Personally i love talking while fighting. when i play i try to not think too much about what im doing, and talking helps a lot.

^exactly

Just yesterday, I was playing this guy who picked Gill and lost...horriably. Personnaly, this should have been a easy win or two before he leaves, but then we became friends and played 60 games for two hours! It was really fun, considering I won all of them, including my 1000th macth, and went up a rank to the ever so popular "B" rank...now to mess around of my brother's account >_>
