The Suns are just abusing the Heat.
Steve Nash has 12 assists and 9 points in the first quarter.
Suns have scored 47 points... in the first quarter.
Damn.

They double and triple team Shaq every time he gets anywhere near the ball and are forcing everybody else to make shots. Heat are looking quite slow on defense as well. Not looking good.
But the Heat are missing Wade and Jason Williams, in their defense.

Does anyone know if Kobe Bryant is in the USA Olympics team? if so, then Shaq is considering in being on the team....
I think the Heat are good with JWill + Wade together. Jason brings ball handles and feeds it to the players who need to score.
Good fucking game right now...Suns vs Spurs...Diaw and Marion are my new fucking heroes.

Tough loss but the Raptors played very well.
As long as they keep up the effort they have been playing with as of late they will surely win their fair share of games =)
The officiating was pretty bad today though...a little too tech happy.

Tracy McGrady is one of if not the most talented player in the National Basketball Association. I love that fucker. It hurts ME to see this:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10768079/
I'm sure he'll recover, but I don't know what percentage he can play at with chronic back problems, something that he'll probably have to live with. Get healthy T-Mac.

Good job with the misinformation. Seattle didn't trade with Knicks, the Knicks were just stupid enough to sign Jerome "Big-Snacks" James to a multimillion dollar contract on their own.
Also watch some more tape. Keyon Dooling was pulling shit all game, with Violet Palmer watching the whole game (worst ref EVER) but turning a blind eye. Ray pretty much saw the refs weren't going to do anything so he got fed up.
About getting better: Its not Ray's fault Bob Weiss was a horrible choice for coach. If Bob Hill had been the coach from the getgo Seattle wouldn't be that great, but they'd be at least winning the division. Now that Hill has decided to play Petro/Swift the future's looking pretty good cause those two youngsters are coming along nicely

I'm sorry, but could you repeat that in English? Are you saying that people are going to complain that Ray is holding them back? With the lack of punctuation its really hard to understand what you're trying to say, but lets go through the entire roster.
PG: Ridnour: he's fine. Kind of small and a liability of defense, but that's as much a fault of the team's horrible collective defense. A lot of teams would want him
SG: Allen: I don't know what you're tryign to say about him
SF: Lewis: Would be an All-star except yeah the team sucks so far
PF: Radmanovich: Umm...personally I hate this guy, but plenty of teams would love to have him if it weren't for him being on the QO and having trade veto-powers
C: Petro: The kid's only 19 and pretty raw, but any team would love to have
an athletic 7 footer on his salary.
Bench:
Collison: Eh, apparently good enough that Seattle refused to trade him in a package for Artest
Robert Swift: See Petro
Danny Fortson: When he's not being a retard and being too overt with his roughousing, he's a gamechanger. No one would trade for him, but when he's on he helps the team a lot.
Ron Murray: Already pretty solid rumors about him being packaged with another player for Earl Watson .
Potapenko: horrible, but people would trade for him to get his expiring deal
Reggie Evans: Just like Radmanovich he's on the QO. He's like a poor man's Ben Wallace and I know he'll get a good deal this summer.
Damien Wilkens: Apparently enough teams wanted him this summer so you're wrong on him too.

He was play fighting. And somehow Morris Peterson got ejected. NBA referees are retarded, without question.
Cost us that game. Carter abused Mike James in the fourth. He couldn't have gone for like 24 points in the fourth if MoPete was guarding him.
Violet Palmer is the worst ref in the league though, no question about it.

Oh yeah - the laker draft pick Ronny Turiaf appears to have turned down a lucrative offer to play in Spain. His agent says that he will be signed by the lakers and should be on the roster by Monday at the latest ( same day when the lakers play the heat I think ). To make room for Turiaf, the lakers must indeed waive a player on their roster.

Frye's put up top five rookie stats this year, no doubt.
But today's Raptors game was the first time I've actually watched him, aside from highlights. And he sucked. Though to be honest, the entire Knicks team came out flat.
Also Frye is definately a candidate for the NBA All Ugly Team. He's blocked by Mutombo at the center position though.
Raptors were playing well, but the Knicks were so out of it that I don't know how much of it was us winning or them losing.
The three New York rookies are looking good though. Isiah's crazy, but he's a damn good drafter. Frye, Lee, Robinson - good core. I like them better than the Raptors' rookie core - J'onn J'onzz, The Hulk, and The Inquistor - and I like them a lot.
...'cept we have Bosh. And outside of the rookies, I don't really see anything to look forward to in the future for the Knicks.
Is Robinson going to be in the slam dunk competition? It would be unjust if he wasn't. I want to see JR Smith and Josh Smith come back too.
And if Bosh isn't an All Star...then I will murder someone.
It still breaks my head at how good that 2003 draft was. Like...any of the top...six or seven picks would have gone first in almost any other draft.
Lebron, Melo, Bosh, Wade, Hinrich, Ford...all could probably go first in this year's draft.

Well that's true, Isiah didn't draft him.
But I'm thinking that they had the QR/KT trade worked out already, contingent on the Suns' drafting of Nate Robinson. I haven't seen it confirmed, but I'm guessing that Isiah asked them to pick Nate Robinson for him.
He's still 4/4 in the lottery though. Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Tracy McGrady, and Channing Frye - not bad.

I think he's out 6 - 8 weeks prior to the injury he suffered. I don't think he'll be out the whole season, at least for the clippers sake - he's doing all he can to return to the line up. The clippers tried to trade Maggette and Chris Wilcox to the Pacers for Ron Artest - but the deal was denied at the last moment because of extreme injury concerns towards Maggette. They also tried to ship Wilcox over ( excluding Maggette ) to the pacers but that deal was also denied.

The Lakers and Queens hate is gone. Once Shaq, Horry, Rick Fox, Doug Christie, Vlade, were are gone, the hate between those teams pretty much died along with the fact that neither team is fighting for a top seed in the conference.

what the hell was that fool antonio davis doing. get real dude, you ain't ron artest.
What im not understanding here is the logic, Artest I admit was in the wrong BUT, the man had beer poured on him, thrown at him, Popcorn, and a chair. So how much is a man supposed to tolerate???
Whats the reason in this, "Oh since he is a ball player and makes millions he HAS TO suck it up and let fans do what ever"?
Aight so lets see the next game I got too, and I just go pour Juice on Bill Walton and heckle ehim about his son ride-ing the Oak and why he cant do shit about it.
Or Throw Popcor at Marv and heckle him about his fetishes of bite-ing bitches, and prostitutes.

I didn't catch the game, but the AP article is really making it seem like it was Kobe's fault. That he "demanded the ball" at every possession in the first half.
Edit : Looking at the box score, the one thing that catches my eye is that no other Laker reached ten FG attempts.
I don't mind Kobe taking over the game if he needs to, but you have to get your teammates more involved. 12 shots from 3 point land is also too much for one player.
But these are just numbers.

Didn't watch the game, but from what I heard is that near the end of regulation, Lamar Odom drove in and missed a potential game winning shot with 18 seconds left on the shot clock. When it comes to winning the game, in that instance, yeah, Kobe really needs the ball is his hands.

not exactly. the lakers were already up by 5 when odom took the ball to the hoop with 18 left on the shot clock and like 30 left in the game. he committed a charge and turned the ball over. the kings came back to hit back to back 3's to tie it. in ot mihm and odom had both fouled out already so kobe was the only one left to take any shots. walton was got abused by kenny thomas in ot who scored 3 straight right in front of the hoop. what stuck out in my mind was less than a minute left in the game kobe drives to the hoop and pulls in 3 kings defenders and kicks it out to odom who hits the three from the top of the key to put them up by 5.

Lakers up by 5 thanks to a drive in by Kobe, which he kicked out to Odom for the 3. I forget how they get the 2 but Miller gets a LUCKY 3 tying the game. After the timeout, ball is inbounded to ODOM, who passes up on giving the ball to Kobe...takes the shot, OT.
In OT...Kobe was forcing everything.

Brad Miller's three wasn't luck, the lakers left him wide open and didn't defend the pick and roll well. Not to mention bibby beasted the fuck out of them in the second half - lakers should of won this game still though, they just didn't play smart basketball in the final moments of the game. Luke Walton is really a SF as it is, he doesnt have the power to guard a PF. Mihm has taken a step back this year, last year he actually improved quite a bit from his previous years. He seems to be regressing now. Brown is a lost cause and I still think George should get more playing time. Odom just seems kind of lost in the triangle offense, I dont really think it suits him pretty well. Odom has always been better as a 4, like he played in Miaim. In LA he is playing the 3 and cant use his speed and athletic ability as well.

Question: Would you trade E. Dampier for Chris Mihm?
Carpet Lint

Question: Would you trade E. Dampier for Chris Mihm?
If you were Dallas you would do that trade in a fucking HEARTBEAT.
Chris Mihm is owed like $3.8 million this year, and $4.2 million next year and that's it.
Dampier on the other hand was given like the stupidest non-Isiah contract ever, and has a contract that goes through 2010-2011 averaging like $10 million a year ($13 million the last year).
So after this season, he's on contract for ANOTHER FIVE YEARS. And he's 30 years-old already!
Even if Chris Mihm was a bag of rocks worth $4 million dollars, you'd do it. Though if Mitch Kupchak was that drunk, I'd try to trade for Kobe first.
The contracts alone make it a ridiculous trade. And when you realize that Chris Mihm actually has as good or better numbers than Dampier...then...it just gets stupider.
Contracts don't match though. The Lakers would actually have to throw in another guy or two just to make the trade valid.
God, Dampier has such a retarded contract.
Morphiend

I think he might be talking about in fantasy league?? I'd take mihm over damp instantly if the offer was there.
Carpet Lint
01-20-2006, 12:57 PM
...oh, right. Now I just look like an ass.
Mihm averages like five more points and will give you more blocks. Dampier might give you an odd game here or there with like 10 rebounds to boost up his average, but most the time his boxscores are like five points, three rebounds. Mihm gives better stats more consistently.
And Mihm should be good for PF and C.
Plus Dampier is human garbage. Any fantasy team with Dampier on it smells of desperation and failure.
If you can trade Dampier straight up for Mihm, do it, and pray the other guy doesn't change his mind. Fantasy league or not.

Not going to happen, no one is going to take his contract. Unless you trade for Jerome James or Adonel Foyel who have equally as obsurd contracts.
Carpet Lint
01-20-2006, 01:50 PM
Still no way.
Jerome James' contract goes through until 2009-2010 for $6.6 million.
Adonal Foyle goes through 2008-2009 for $9.75 million. (A team option for an extra year at $10.6 million but no one's going to pick that up.)
Dampier has 2010-2011 at $13 million.
One more year than James at double the price, and two more years than Foyle. All are almost identical 30 year-old useless bodies.
Dampier is probably the most untradable player in the NBA. Not like how Lebron is untradable, in that no one will want to trade him. I mean in the sense that no one is going to want to trade FOR him.
To trade Dampier, you would probably have to bundle like a couple of good young players like Daniels or Harris, and some picks along with him and settle for another overpaid midtier/lowtier veteran...like Jamal Crawford or something...and then still probably not, since that much money moving around is just too hard to do.
Raptors can't even trade Rose, who has a shorter contract, is better, and is more in demand than Dampier.
You're probably going to have to get used to seeing Dampier for a long while.

Brad Miller's three wasn't luck...
he was missing shots all night, passed up the first opportunity to shoot the three, when it came back to him he had no choice but to shoot.
I dont' keep up w/ Kings stats or nothing but I'm sure that that motherfucker DOES NOT shoot 3's.
Also regarding the Lakers. As a whole IMO Lakers been playing pretty damn good (except final seconds of last night :arazz: ). Mihm/Brown have been doing pretty good together down in the post (I HOPE they can be at least half of what Empire Wallace is), Parker has found himself, George is making shots (I used to hate when he shoots, then my g/f pointed out he's been doing well) and Odom has been contributing everywhere (minus shooting the ball well, Lakers are what? 0-8 when he takes more than 15 shots?)
Problem with the Lakers is consistency. Also, I noticed last night that 4th quarter = Kobe isn't always going to work well. We all know he's clutch but he's gotta pass it in the 4th quarter, he was taking WAYYYYY to many forced shots.

If u were going to give the ball to someone in the final seconds in a tied ballgame, who are u going to pass the ball to? Kobe handles this situation better than anyone else on the squad. That beautiful dish out to odom for the 3 was good, but in the final seconds, i would give the ball to kobe 100% of the time because no one is clutch enough to handle the situation. When kobe doesn't do well in the 4th, the team should pick up the slack. That's the way i see it.
in OT, kobe forced all his shots. That's when i thought the Lakers were going to attack as a team...but kobe took most of them.
Luke vs Kenny = I don't remember Luke defending the post much so i don't really blame him for giving up 3 layups. besides, odom and mihm was gone.
I just wish they played team ball like they did against Miami in every game while Kobe still getting his points

^Brad doesn't shoot the three but has the potential to make the shot. I mean, anytime when you get too good of a look like Brad did, of course it's going in. It's known as a high percentage shot throughout the league and I'm pretty sure Miller knew what he was doing when he took the shot - and it went in. I saw it coming so it didn't really surprise me anyway...

Okay, that's cool.
But seriously, be honest here. Kobe's a ballhog, can't win a Shaq-less championship...are those not true? As it stands, do you see that changing?
_____________
Raptors are a terrible defensive team, have pretty bad perimeter defense, and quick guards always kill them...but these points were probably harder to get than the ones in Dallas.
MoPete's an above average defender, and Rose - who's usually a shit defender - was playing good defense this game. That's better than anything Dallas threw against Kobe.
And with such a sucky team around him, playing so badly tonight, you can't say anything about Kobe ball hogging. There's no one else to pass to. And to come back from a 17 point deficient all by himself...Kobe's pretty good.
And here's why I like Kobe more than T-Mac, Vince, and whatever - Kobe is an intense motherfucker the entire game.
I know T-Mac's sleepy eye look doesn't really convey him accurately at times, but Kobe's essentially going through what T-Mac did in Orlando, and he hasn't bitched out at his teammates or demanded a trade yet.
You look at Houston...and you just wonder how much longer it's going to be before T-Mac asks to be traded out again.
T-Mac had a 7 point, 2-11 game that he sleepwalked through against the Raptors this year - I can't see Kobe ever doing that.
Yes, he masterminded the ruin of one of the many Lakers dynasties, used the Clippers to up his contract with the Lakers, ran a back door cut against a white girl, but dammit he can PLAY.

Kobe finished with 81 and i swear the hottest shooting performances i've ever seen is mj against portland and thunder Dan Majerle back in the day against seatlle...but watching Kobe....damn there was one stretch where he went like 6minutes w/o a miss..just crazy.
I think Kobe has done it, you can't really hate him anymore. the only thing he has to do is get his assist numbers up, he trying to but cats is missing wide open shots.

kobe did his job cuz the rest of his team wasnt doing anything. Odom and Smush can score but they're way too inconsistent. I hate it when Lamar's not aggressive. He's way too passive. Chris Mihm is pretty good but gets way too many fouls to get into the game. Smush isn't as passive but sometimes he just doesn't get enough touches i think.
i say if they wait till next year, i think lamar, smush and mihm will improve more and up their PPG. but for now, they still need to develop more offensively.
and yea, the lakers WILL make the playoffs this year. They're still improving and will get even better IMO.

when we talk about Jordan, yeah he's the greatest to ever play the game. no question. but i guess some people, like me, thinks that Kobe can achieve a greatness CLOSE to him....yes it's a comparrison, but it's not like i don't give jordan any credit. well, that's the way i see what i think when i see Kobe play.
As for Kobe not winning a championship without shaq, i think u should give Kobe a little moe time. it's been almost 2 years since Shaq left and the Lakers are in a rebuilding process. i say, give Kobe a few more or maybe even until the end of his career to say he hasn't won a ring by himself.
I guess u can say Kobe is a ballhog, but i think he does it because he's picking up the team's slack. yeah i agree that he shoots too much and needs to learn to move the ball around, but when Kobe shoots, it's a better chance than having other players shoot. I wish for the team to be really balanced like each player scoring double digits.

They better replay that Laker game on ESPN CLassic or I will be VERY pissed.
Kobe? 81? I've never seen shit like that EVER. And I was just at the Delta Center for the Jazz vs Cavs when Bron dropped 51. I thoght he was on fire. Kobe had to be a f'n volcano to drop 81. I saw the game on TV when MJ dropped 63 on the parque floor. But 81 points? That's an ASTRONOMICAL number. I honestly thought I would never see a number like that in my lifetime. I honestly think that now..... maybe 100 points actually isn't impossible. I still don't think Kobe will make the playoffs but I'll be goddamn if he won't try his damndest and I'm sure he'll at least put on a great show.
Kobe is the best 1 man show right now. I would pay more money to see him than anybody else in the L. Will the Kobe make the plaoffs? I still say no. But I'll be damned if he's not gonna make a run at it.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
As of now I shall make a decree that "The Lakers" now officially be called The Kobe until further notice.

Aight here is my 2 cents on Kobe Bryant and his skill level and why others dont match.
Sum it all up to the words KILLER INSTINCT.
Kobe has that and then some, his comparison to Jordan is not as bad as I thought years ago, he does go at defenders with the attempt to kill like Jordan did, No im not saying he is doing things the SAME, he is doing things Kobe's way but in similer fashion to other greats and Jordan stands out so the comparison steems from there.
Tracy Mcgrady does not yet have that, He does have the ability to out score most, which is what any All-Star can do, but a Superstar can take over, Dominate from start to finish in more than on facite or style (Scoring,Defense,Play Calling), involving his teammates.
LeBron James falls into the same category and he also admits to not yet having that killer instinct, once he enters the playoffs, gets jipped on a few calls from the ref's, a few years of that and he will be on his way. (see article here---->)http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...e=jones/060117
But Lebron is also surrounded by talent,Veterans I might add.
True kobe has Odom, and George, but neither of these guys command anything while on court, neither are actually known for doing anything to put there team over, on the other hand King James has Larry Hughes who was known as a great defender, Z a true big man but plagued by injuries, Donyell Marshall three point shooter and defender, Damon Jones 3 point threat as well, You really cant say the same for Kobe yet he is on the road to giving his UNDER Talented team a 6th seed in the jam packed west give him his props.
I will go further into this later give you guys a chance to post up replies.

That was a possible trade that we were talking about in this thread when Artest first asked to be traded. Cletus mentioned it, and I think most of us thought it was a silly trade.
Peja's can opt out after this year, and he might be able to get a better contract that one year at $8.225 million, so he might opt out. So it's possible that all Peja is to them is an expiring contract.
What's the deal? Artest for Peja straight up? I keep thinking that the Pacers could have gotten more for Artest. Is there a pick involved at least?
Why trade for Peja? Don't they already have a guy that's almost like him in Stephen Jackson?
Why trade a guy who plays great playoffs style basketball (awesome defense) for a guy who plays terrible playoffs style basketball (jumpshooter, can't defend, unclutch)?
Bad trade for the Pacers.
Cletus Kasady
01-24-2006, 04:19 PM
I think this is just the Pacers cutting their losses; Maggette was sidelined and nobody else was willing to take him on, so it seems as though they'll just try to make do with Peja for this season and possibly look towards somebody else through free agency next year.
On the bright side, Kobe and Artest have more games against each other now.

I want the Warriors to get Artest. We got Ike now who needs to be playing more minutes than he is. He was playing great in the games he started, so why are we back to Foyle now? Montgomery needs to make Ike part of the actual offense (run the offense from the inside out) instead of just having Ike as designated garbageman, picking up all those junk threes Baron randomly pops. I like Pietrus and Murphy, but if we had to trade those two guys for Artest and a throw-in (I'm thinkin' Austin Croshere, who is similar to Murph), I'd do it. Then we could start Baron, J-Rich, Artest, Diogu, and Foyle.
We could have Diogu as our post player. And one day, when Biedrins learns how to stop fouling (he got 3 fouls in 89 seconds the other day) he can be just as effective as Super Darko.

Ike was doing a good job in the starting lineup. They should seriously run more and pick-and-rolls with Ike and Baron. They keep saying Ike has really good hands. I think they could be a poor man's Amare/Nash. I don't think the Warriors should give up on Pietrus. He's a good 6th man and a good perimeter defender. ___________
The three possible Artest trade scenarios that were rumored were...
1) Peja
- Obviously no good now because Artest doesn't want to play in Sacromento for some reason.
2) Maggette
- Larry Bird doesn't like his ankle.
3) Artest + Croshere for Troy Murphy + Pietrus
- At this point...it seems the only one that's possible. I think Troy Murphy's huge contract makes it difficult (he's signed until 2010-2011 for $12 million? Jesus!) but it's the only one of the three that's makes even a bit of sense.
Do the salaries even work for that? Troy Murphy makes around $10 million a year, but since he's a base year compensation player, his contract only counts for like $3.7ish million a year for trade purposes. So along with Pietrus at $1.9, that's like $5.6ish million in total...
Artest and Croshere combine to make $15.6 million this year.
Salaries don't match within 125%. So this trade is probably baloney. Trades involving BYC players are headaches to do. Which is probably why the Magloire/Mason trade happened in the offseason after Magloire lost his BYC status. There were a ton of trade rumours coming out of Toronto regarding Magloire last year, and you could tell they were all bogus because the salaries never matched up.
Another rumour is Dunleavy + Cheaney + another player for Artest.
Dunleavy's and Cheaney's salaries match up with Artest's, so the other player has to have a small contract to keep within 125%...maybe Chris Taft to balance it out talent-wise?
I could see that one happening.

Say Clinty, where'd you find all this info about contracts and stuff? Is there a site, or are you just a repository of information? And I'd prefer to keep Murphy and Pietrus, but getting rid of Dunleavy would be a dream come true. I haven't been satisfied with his play lately. I don't know, it feels like his talent peaked 8 months ago and now he's just settled into being an average inconsistent player. Which would be fine if he came off the bench, but as a starter making a ton of money, it's not good. In one of our losses a couple weeks ago, Dunleavy literally had 1 point. If you are a 6'10 shooting white guy from Duke whose sole purpose in life is to shoot the basketball, and you start and play real minutes, you got no excuses for not making a single field goal. So trading Dunleavy for Artest would give me a massive boner for sure.

I have to admit, after seeing what Kobe did, I'm very shocked, however I'm not surprised as well, Kobe has the skills, he just had to get his head in straight, which is what seems to be happening now. Comparison of Jordan to Kobe, there's no denying that it won't happen, because it will, however I feel that you really can't truly judge Kobe until his career is over. It's true, Kobe has not taken his team to an NBA title without Shaq his career, shit it took Jordan like what..8 years I believe before he won a title.
Jordan is still the best player ever, period. However I have to respect what Kobe did, 81 points, that's phenomenal, after Jordan left, I almost NEVER watch the NBA games now, however with what Kobe's been doing, if he keeps this up, I just might just start watching more NBA again.

You can find player salaries from a bunch of sites out there...I use hoopshype.com, but you can generally just Google for it and you'll get a dozen sites.
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/golden_state.htm
And the rest is just common knowledge I've picked up, having my ridiculous trade ideas shot down by smarter people.
Trades are only valid if the salaries of all the players on both sides match up to within 125% plus or minus something like...$100,000 dollars or something. The old CBA had it at 115%, so it's easier to make trades now.
And the base year compensation insanity is something I just learned about last year, with all the trade rumours concerning Magloire, who was a BYC player last year. BYC players have contracts that are magically reduced by 50% in regards to trades - I don't really get it.
And someone still needs to explain bird rights to me. What it means, how you can get it.
_______
I would think that Murphy's the guy you want to move, but I guess his contract situation makes it difficult.
I always though Dunleavy was one of thos up-and-coming young players, but I guess he's had a bad year so far according to his stats. I don't watch any Warriors games 'cept for the two times they've raped Toronto this year.
The first game against us he had 17 points on 7-13, 7 assists, 5 boards. That's good.
Then the next game he had 1 point, 1 assist, 0 rebounds in 24 minutes...which I guess is bad. But hey, Warriors still won.
But that's all I've seen of him so I don't know anything about anything really. Maybe he's just in a slump. And when spot shooting white guys get into slumps, there's not really anything else they can contribute to the team. Maybe bring him off the bench for a few games.
I've read that apparently Artest wants to play in Golden State...so it's very possible, I guess. I'd think that the Pacers would like a young guy like Pietrus or Taft back though.
Jesus, J-Rich, The Baron, and Artest? That's inside-outside-insanity-all-day-every-day.
EDIT: The above sentence does not imply that Jesus is a Golden State Warrior.
I'm still surprised at how little the Pacers are getting offered for Artest. Yeah, he's fucking insane, and everyone knows they're trying to ship him out...but still, the guy is probably the most efficient player that doesn't have a max or rookie contract.
He scores 20-something a night, and locks down the other team's best scorer - hypothetically let's say that's like 5-10 more missed shots and minus 10-15 points - that's plus a bunch of points for you and minus a bunch of points for them...that's like a 30-40 point swing any given night!
I'd use this Artest scenario to try and defend the Vince trade and how little we got for him...but that's an undefendable position, and so I can't do it.

The Candi Man's an expiring contract. He's $6 million of cap space at the end of the year, that's all people are looking at him as.
But it's basically exchanging bad contracts for bad contracts. Mark Blount is five years and $33.7 million dollars of uselessness.
Ricky Davis is the best player involved though, so I guess Minnesota comes out in front, though it seems like a pretty even deal for both teams. It's crap for crap!
The only real intent was probably to get four black guys out of Boston to bring in one white guy, one black guy who's an expiring contract, and Dwayne Jones, who is like Will Smith black, which still brings down the overall blackness level of the club.
It was like when the Toronto Blue Jays traded Orlando Hudson and Miguel Batista for Troy Glaus. Two black for one white = WIN WIN WIN

This trade sucks major ass its really a One for One.
If you all play fantasy Wally is a good 3 point shooter, he should he averaging above 16. (Actually averaging 20.1) he can play defense and it seems as if the EAST is trying to pack in shooters.
Micheal Olow is a waste of 7' damn feet, gimme his height I would put on weight and dominate, Fucka Yao, Fucka Shaq damn it.
Minnesota needs someone to attack the rim, they havent had that since Steph.
I feel for Garnett because this is STILL NOT PROGRESS. Davis can Average 20 or more so we will see what happens with that.
The 2 Second round Draft Pics will help The Wolves Believe me Boston is on the Decline and not finish with a High Seeding, Plus 2 young rookies for one is pretty cool, they will be apart of a team that NEEDS a bench to play up (Marcus Banks, Justin Reed) Hopefully Mark Blount wont be a waste of height like Micheal was, I watched a few of there games in person and he was more in KG's way then helping him out, Blount doesnt command scoring he is nasty on the boards, so he will match up well against A lakers Squad with no real Physical inside Presence, Kings with out Raheem, and the Trail Blazers who have no since of direction since Cheeks is gone.

Boston got a future first rounder too.
I thought Boston's strategy was to unload all the garbage and go young. Isn't that what they are doing ? Jefferson, Green, didn't they get Robert Swift ?, West, that seems like a good start.
Cletus Kasady
01-27-2006, 07:41 AM
They would've drafted Robert Swift if Seattle hadn't picked him; but they got Jefferson and West in that year, and picked up Green (although I don't think he's played) this year. Which is sort of good until you take into account that Paul Pierce is still on the team, and he likely doesn't want to go through a rebuilding (read: losing) phase. And since it's doubtful that any Pierce trade would result in them getting equal value back, it's probably in their interest to make sure the team can compete now.
But with the way they picked up Scalabrine and Dickau in the off-season (and spent like $15 million on Scalabrine in the process), I believe pretty firmly that this was a "white power" trade.

Steve Nash Collects 21 and 14, Another MasterFull double double for the Reigning MVP. Even Raja Bell stepped up along with Jones, Shawn Marion (Underated Player) scores 19 in quite fashion, Man these guys are dangerous. And with no real inside presence Either.
Wade 25 points, Ankle still bothering him I think. Shaq 15 but why is he even playing if not at full potential give the start to Zo his intensity is off the ricter.
James Posey man he is living up to his trade ability those 3 pointers were remarkable, but to much Phoneix, a 19 point lead into the half had the Heat working to hard for a win I think was not Guaranteed for the Suns, I felt them to be the Underdogs in this one.

Phoenix vs Hawks:110 to 106 the finish
Battle of the settled trades. The Hawks Hosting
Boris Biaw scores 25 versus his former mates what a game for him along with 5 assists. The SUNS took a 13 to 7 run that snatched back the lead but the Hawks wouldnt stay down. (Nash 22pts 9 ast)
Joe Johnson puts up a convincing 27 points and 2 clutch 3pointers from lue kept them close but no cigar as the Hawks lose 10 straight, and the SUNS win only there second Back to Back Road game this year. Al harrington with 16 points but no viger in the last few minutes, a nice bench performance by my man Salim Stoudamire but was out done by Eddie House (14) and Leondra Barbosa (14), Shawn Marion (Second most underated palyer in the NBA) Posted a quite but effective 15 points 8 rebounds 3 steals.
Lakers vs Warriors:106 to 105 the finish
Kobe Bryant's first appearance since his 81 point performance. Bryant also showed Hella rust in the first 3 quarters and it looked like a sench for the Warriors.(5 points the first three quarters)
Mike Dunleavy goes out with a bad ankle injury in the first half and did not return.
The Lakers post up a 16-9 run in the fourth quarter to take it to overtime, and yes Kobe Bryant takes it home, ending the game with 30 points 25 in the Overtime and 4th Quarters alone. (Now thats hotness)
Blazers vs Nets:88 to 83 the finish
Vince Carter out with back injury. Juan Dixon 26 points to power the Blazers.
(Meaningless game to me but...) Sad part about it the man was ejjected in the beginning of the 4th lol:rofl: you wants stats on this game hell go to yahoo or something NEts get no love here for that performance.
Clippers vs Nuggets:
Marcus Camby returns after 15 game absence with a broken finger. Elton Brand Ties his season high of 33 points and Sam Cassel with 25 points as well, Kaman posts 16 pts and 13 rbs. Carmelo Anthony not to good about this one as the Nuggets 7 game win streak comes to and end. Camby not to impressive 10 rebounds posted but only 5 points, Where's Kenyon MArtin?
TimberWolves vs Rockets:96 to 92 the finish
Minnesota Out Scores the Rockets 29 15 in the second quarter, The Wolves looked like a team who had been together all season. The "Big Ticket" 26 and 12, Ricky Davis comes up VERY CLUTCH and adds 26 of his own, Mark Blount only 4 points 4 rebounds, 18 from Mcants as well. Houston with five players in double figures but with no REAL low post presence they get dominated once again.
For the First time in a long time I have seen Mcgrady doesnt reach 20 and that alone might have sealed there fate.
Raptors vs Bucks:100 to 87 the finish
I didnt actually watch this game but Highlights and box scores made this game all bucks, The Raptors are soooo ass backwards there bench finally stepped up in a game but there starting five with the exception of bosh didnt help shit (Yes A Broadcastor cursing while doing the news) this was some dumb shit. Bucks 6 or 7 guys in double figures like 2 or 3 with Double Double's, im just gonna label the Raptors a guaranteed win when ever they face someone pfft.
Bulls vs Wizards:90 to 79 the finish
This game was a great sign of team work, probably the highest game in terms of assists this year, great team work.
Last but not least My Mother Fucking PISTONS
Detroit vs Grizzlies:95 to 89 the finish
Pau Gasol, man this fuckers hot 31 points and even shot a 3 pointer at the buzzer for good measure, these guys stuck around again versus the Pistons, but just couldnt stop MY MVP CANDIDATE. 20 points for Mr. Atkins but the rest of the team was a no show.
Rip Hamilton 19 and 7 with 2 nice three bals shot. Rasheed with 12 and 13 boards
Ben another defensive performance blocked shots looked great on highlights also 8 13 4 and 4 for him.
Too many games to talk about so I'll return later, sorry for the abreviated posts I was just trying to hip you all to what you may have missed.
YES BILLUPS is the MVP DAMN IT now quit asking.
 :arazz:

Kobe dished the ball for 3 quarters...2 quarters, the team was doing really good. Then the 3rd quarter was so freakin ugly...then in the 4th quarter, Kobe had to save the team again.... oh and he posted 8 assists.
i'm real impressed with Detroit. Chauncey Billups is really that damn good ladies and gentlemen

Oh yeah, speaking of the lakers - they go on a 7 game road trip starting sunday I think. Important road trip especially in the middle of the season, starts in detroit also ( tough break lol )

The trade with Minnesota and Boston was worthless for both teams..... this year. They're both trying to free up cap room. Ricky Davis and Wally are both 6th men with all-star egos. They'll NEVER be as good as they think they are.
OWU media is pissing me off (as usual) not giving Peja his props. He's not a "spot-up shooter" you fucking dumbasses. He's a "jump shooter" AKA he hits jumpers. He dribbles to get off Js. He can't drive to the lane as well because of his first step is slow. But he can back up and move to the side to get off a J and drop it in your face.
The Kobe plays D-troit tomorrow..... on National TV. That's gonna be the game to watch.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
MVP race:
#1 Mr Big Shot AKA P.Diddy-look-alike AKA Chauncey Billups (he's been hitting big shots for 4 years straight. Why are people just figuring this out now?)
#2 Pistol Steve AKA Kid Canada AKA Steve Nash (Raja Bell and Boris Diaw are averaging over 11 points a game. I honestly think Nash could get me 8 points a game in the NBA).
#3 Kobe (If The Kobe makes the playoffs he should be the MVP)
#4 Kakashi (same old same old)
#5 AI (same old same old)

Man, Colangelo should recruit Billups for Team USA. He'd be an excellent point guard to run the team, plus he can shoot the outside shot. Who's confirmed for Team USA so far? LeBron and Marion, anyone else?

The Suns give up another lead...
IIRC, they did the SAME EXACT THING at Cleveland last year...Before LeBron went apeshit on them.

Realize this one truth in all of basketball.
The Magic suck when the team their playing sucks.
Cuz we lost to the 76'ers on an end of a back to back, without AI.
Yea we're that sorry.

My MVP Top 5 (sort of in order):
Steve Nash
Chauncey Billups
Tim Duncan
Kobe Bryant
Dirk Nowitzki
I mention Kobe because "Most Valuable" (which you could argue Kobe isn't) sort of doubles as "Most Outstanding" (which Kobe has to be after this season).
OWU media is pissing me off (as usual) not giving Peja his props. He's not a "spot-up shooter" you fucking dumbasses. He's a "jump shooter" AKA he hits jumpers. He dribbles to get off Js. If OWU media is harping on Peja for that, they're missing the point; his real problem is that he can't play defense worth a damn and he fails to show up for the playoffs...that's a big concern for the Pacers considering that their goal is winning the Eastern Conference title.

Isn't it great how Kobe can score over 40 and still lose when Mr. Big Shot had an off-night in terms of scoring? It's even better when watched in large screen HD!
Mario Lemieux!

It had to do with his shoe company and they felt that number was unique.
