I've seen this phrase used over and over, not just here but in other forums too. So what was I doing when the memo was passed around saying its big and clever to use the term "Rape" so callously? Is this some kinda male macho "My dick is bigger than yours" thing? The internet equivalent of buying a huge red Italian sports car? Help me out here.

This is a forum discussing a video game involving violence where you beat your opponent to a pulp, which I have no issue with, in fact judging by how some of you talk i'm bloody glad you're taking your obvious frustrations out in a game as opposed to real life. However, unless i'm not playing the game right, not once have I have to press a button or do a QCF motion in order to force the opponent into sex.

Considering being raped is probably one of the worst things that can happen to someone, male or female, it fucks me off in a major way the amount of times you lot seem to just chuck the word casually into a conversation like that. I cannot believe for a second that you would talk like that in public cause someone would've knocked seven shades of shit out of you by now. So ask yourself why you think you feel the need to type shit like that whilst hiding behind a computer screen.

And as for the people that use the word "Gay" as an insult. Wow. How original. You're not at all like every single shitty little 10 year old kid who talks like that on the playground. I'm not even gonna bother launching into why this is sad and wrong because as a gay man I've become totally desensitised to its usage as a derogatory term. SF is not about the violent nature of the game itself..... but it's more of a battle of the minds. Street fighter is like live action chess in some sense.

Rape is a word used to mean badly beaten. It has absolutely no connotation with sexual rape. At all. Period. In a sense you could say it is the same in the sense that when someone is raped they are completely controlled and in a street fighter match when someone is raped they are also completely controlled and beaten but in a completely different way. That's the only simmilarity I see.

Using the term gay as an insult is fine by me and I don't care what you say. Being gay is just well....... fucking gay. If you want to be gay I'm not going to assault you or kick your ass for it but it is still well gay and ...... just retarded. I agree that Street Fighter as a game isn't just about beating someone up for the sake of it. But essentially that is what is happening on screen, tactics or strategies aside. But that's the only thing I agree with you on.

Now. The definition of the word rape does not mean "badly beaten". Look it up in a dictionary if you really need to. You can't just decide that a word that means a very specific thing now suddenly means something else. That's not how the English language works. From time to time new words make it into the dictionary, sure, and other terms or phrases are updated when modern language reaches a stage where the majority of people use it in a certain context.

For example, let's look at that other little word I mentioned and you so conveniently used incorrectly. 40 years ago, if you looked up the word "Gay" in a dictionary you wouldn't see anything about using to describe people that are attracted to the same sex. Nowadays the vast majority of people in the world use it otherwise, and it has been updated as such. As far as I'm aware it's usage as "Offensive slang" has not been made official, although I'm sure it wont be long before it is.

So you think the word gay means retarded. Unless you were being ironic or something, I mean you did spell the word retarded wrong both times you used it so maybe you were just using very subtle humour, I'm not sure. You do however, win the award for most pointlessly obvious statement of the month for "Being gay is just well....... fucking gay". No really? Wow, nothing gets past you does it?!

So just because you (and others like you) want to use words incorrectly don't then turn around and claim that it means whatever you want it to mean. The point is to even suggest in this day and age of so called enlightenment that sexuality is a choice is laughable.

Also since I'm not a gay man I can't say whether or not being gay is nature or nurture. There is NO scientific proof that it is nature and none that it is nurture. It is simply widely accepted that it is nurture but it can't be proven. Much like it is widely accepted that being gay is fucking gross. As I've said before I don't have any problems with gay people.
