GameLords you may remember from a few years back, the gaming lounge in Ocean Beach... it has now moved to Mission Beach in the heart of Belmont Park... there are tons of things to do at Belmont Park... huge parking lot... lots of food spots, scenery, and fine women walking around... lol.

GameLords is a state of the art gaming lounge that breeds competition... they've run fighting game tournaments, Halo 2 Tournaments, and other sports games tournaments before, so they are no stranger to the competitive gaming scene. Filled with a new PC area and 10 HD big screen TVs, GameLords is ready to host the night of fights...

Hope you guys can make it... those of you attending this Saturday night, we may be holding weekly tournaments.... we will have one for Tekken 5 for sure... And for 3S if there's enough interest.

The more people are interested the more prizes/suprises we'll have for tournaments...

Yeah, you guys can bring your own games to play, they have Dreamcasts, PS2, XBOX, whatever... For fight club nights we'll probably have a few TVs set aside for us, but if I can get a head count of people willing to attend that would be great, I want to get a rough idea of how many ppl and which day would be best... then I can start pushing this 100%...

Oh also, they don't have sticks there, you have to bring your own.

Yeah, 7 is a lot. But it's a business. I'll try to negotiate for a lower rate, but I can't gaurantee anything. We're going to try and make up for the $7 by throwing tournies there with prizes etc.

Also, everyone must pay the $7 fee if they plan on playing, if you're caught playing without paying the fee, you'll get kicked out(they're strict about it)...

The day that everyone seems to be leaning towards this weekend is Saturday... I have about 5 TVs set aside for this night, it's going to be a test run, so show up if you're serious about having a good time...

I'll be open to run tournaments for any games as long as theres enough people for them... I don't want to run a 5 man tourney lol.

Consoles are no problem, they have enough consoles there.

They have CvS2, but if someone wants to play 3S/HSFII you'll need to bring your copy. They only have one copy of Tekken 5 as well.

Fun playing tekken with all you guys, very good practice. Yes it is a very good location, and nothings wrong with the place, though the restrooms at the park dont have no door on the one stall so it sucks having to go across the street to go #2, but everything else besides that a ok :tup:

Hey markman, could you ask them if they can hand out chairs to people who need them? They gave me a real nice chair. The stool/sofas arent good for me because the stool is too high and makes my stick slant downwards, and the sofas make me sink and and makes the stick slant towards man, the chair they gave me was straight and i liked it.

MarkMan – Hey I forgot to thank you for allowing me to bring #Reload to you guys’ tourney at the comic-con. I really appreciate it, though I honestly kinda feel bad cuz there was only like about a hand full of people who actually played #Reload, the extra station could have been used for another T5 setup. I’m sure a lot more people would have preferred some warm up casuals b4 their matches. Also thanks in general to you and SDT (even though I only know about 3% of you guys) for continuing to support the fighting game community here at socal. (only if I decided to learn tekken instead of soul calibur … oh well)

Me, KBalch, kevin, and wyze (all the guys from san diego) have been planning a casual meet, possibly before the 24th for some pretourney casuals, how bout joining us? I guess its still in the planning stages, so until kevin gets back, I guess things will stay up in the air. I’ve been thinking tho, maybe we can start having casuals at gamelords … or maybe if all the guys up north are willing to drive about an hour more south (I kno its already too long of a drive for them already so it might be too much to consider), we can prolly get a pretty strong guilty gear scene started here in socal!

There's an Xbox version that was released in America, but then you'd need to find a PS2->Xbox converter, and there are usually input lag issues when you use one (unless you find a good Xbox stick I guess). Since you mentioned that you have a PS2, that's good, because that's the version most people use here. However, it wasn't released in America. You'd need to obtain an import copy and either mod your PS2 or use Swap Magic to play the import version of #R.

You can find #R for PS2 at various online retailers, like www.ncsx.com and www.play-asia.com, but it looks like they're both sold out right now. You can check Ebay, or maybe someone in the community can hook you up with a copy. You can get the Swap Magic and slide card from www.modchipstore.com.

Thanks a lot man. That DID help. Is it hard to learn? I want to learn eddie.Actually, the Swap Magic is an easier solution if you don't want to install a modchip. All you need to do is remove the front of your PS2. Specifically, the front of the disc tray where the PS2 logo is. To do that, you just need a small screwdriver. After that, you use a boot disc and this card-shaped tool to pull the tray out while the PS2 is running, and insert the import version of #R.

#R is kinda hard to learn at first. It's much different than CVS2 and 3S. Sometimes, it can be intimidating to players who are trying to learn the game for the first time. I think that it becomes MUCH easier as you get accustomed to the engine though.

Eddie is a tough character to learn. You might need to spend some time in training mode learning his various unblockable setups and his mixups with the shadow. He's way too good once you learn him though.

Or you can just find the PC version of GGXX#R and play using a PS to USB adapter. Just hope your computer can handle it.

Spoke with the GL owners and tried to get the price lowered... unfortunately they did not want to lower the price from $7.00. But they did say that if anyone comes in after 9 PM that they'd be charged $4.00...

The way i see it, you guys should be happy with the 7 bucks. if you think about it, only reason why GTA closed down was cuz they didnt make enough money to cover bills, only reason why NAM kept it open for exactly two years, was because minimum lease of the location is a two year contract. 7 bucks for 5-6 hours, i say thats a good deal.

At least at gamelords, you dont have to worry about faulty controls, because you provide your own, if the controls arent good, thats no one faults but your owns. And only thing i dont like about nickel is no food or drinks inside, its REALLY hot in that small confined area where the fighting games are, and like i posted before, sticks have been broken one too many times over the years too gaurentee they will stay working for very long.

Ehhh DFs sticks LOOK nice. but he does a kinda crappy job on the insides. He put black tape around 2 wires which caused my hp button to appear "dead" i fixed it by soldering it together and then taping it. also, the screws that hold the bottom in are losing their thread so its hard to keep the bottom on. He also misplaced my start/select button. But whatever...It gets the job done, but way too expensive IMO. WAY too expensive.
