Thread to discuss Ash strategies.
Useful combos:
d+lk, d+lk, qcfx2+k super
hcf+HP, HK flip kick
d+lk, b+lk
More stuff:
-HK flip kick can be canceled on the first hit into kick super.
-d+HP also cancels into kick super.
-b+lk catches alot of people off guard. Its quick, and has good range.
-the kick super will combo from: st.lk, close HK, close HP
-hcf+p grab will combo off of standing LK and LP.
-Jumping HK and HP are crossups. HP is easier to cross up with.
-f+lp will combo off of a standing lp, but will lose its overhead property.
-activating the ball super with HP has a slower startup, but you are invincible during it, meaning if they are stupid enough to stick out a poke they eat the super.

Yeah, I was thinking th same thing.
Would it be possible to do the ball super, then run up and do Cr. lk into kick super WHILE the Fireball super hits?

OK i've found a few more little things.
red_plague: Yes, it is possible to do ball super into kick super, however, it must be done from full screen away, and you have to hope they dont jump over it or roll, therefore, it is very impractical.

u can combo the ball super in the kick super in the corner.
pro tip-dont pick ash as leader since his LSM is trash.

oh yeah i was wondering that today, whats his lsm do? he started flashing like i just broke a stock.

when activated, you can do his moves without charging them first (I.E all you have to do is press back, foward+punch for his fireball and down, up+kick for his flash kick)....it's basically there for spamming his fireballs and stuff....all three members of the hero team have a similar LSM style (enhancement style)

I was wondering as well....glad you knew.
Anyways, I messed around with ash today in training mode.
You can do his fireball super twice, and then his kick super after that, but you can't do the same attack for the fireball super (no lp super into lp super). Hp fireball super is easier to juggle into a lp fireball super. I also noticed that you **might** be able to do his command throw while you opponent is blocking the fireball super. I tried it and it seemed to work once or twice from accross the screen...maybe I was seeing things though.
Anyways, here are some ideas for people to try (i'm testing them also):
1. Fireball super (hp) from across the screen>>run in and lk into hk charge special>>>cancelled into kick super.
2. In corner>>>HP fireball super>>>grab>>>kick special into kick super.
3. HP super into jumpinm hk on a crouching opponent>>>kick super/hk special and cancel.
4. Chip damage in the cornerwith hp super>>lp super.
5. See if you can juggle someone past 2 fireball supers...I couldn't but I'm a scrub.

Wait you mean the hcf+hp grab into kick super? If so thats just a waste of a meter because only 2 hits will connect

What would happen if you cancelled the hk special into the hk super, would just two hits come out?
Even if it ounly did two hits, that might be enough to win a few matches...

Ok i've just tested this a minute ago. Let me try and explain it.
command grab into HK flip kick does MORE than command grab into kick super because only one hit will connect, doing only a pixel of damage. command grab into HK flip kick actually has 2 hits connecting. So its better to save your meter for something else. DOing command grab into super in the corner will actually have 3 hits connect, but its still not worth the meter.
cancelling hk flip kick into kick super isn't even worth it because you need two meters to do this, and only 2-3 hits would connect anyway. I dont think this is even possible after the command grab anyway.

Cool. I didn't know you needed an extra bar to do super cancels; how do you know what cancels and when it cancels (for all characters)?

This guy's FAQs are probably the best for KOF games. He explains each characters normals and specials in depth, and he tells you which moves are super cancelable or not.

I haven't gotten this game...yet. But I plan to, in the mean time I'm practing up to be prepared for XBL.
Anyways I looked up this thread to read & learn some stuff, and post some things as well I thought maybe helpful.
Standing close
LP - C
LK - CR
HP - C
HK - C
Crouching
LP - CR
LK - CR
HP - C
C=cancels into special normals, special moves, supers & leader
R=repeats/chains into itself
everything else can't be cancelled
Super Cancelable Attacks
Flash Kick (1 hit), Command throw (3rd hit)
I agree his leader ain't all that great. Even spamming fireball, after fireball never works. This isn't '92 at the arcade playing SF2 ya know, lol.
Plus, if you have a pad, when doing his moves while in leader super mode, you can't just tap b, f. YOu kinda have to slide your thumb from b, over the neutral point to f. It sounds dumb but hey it's SNK and that's the only way I can get it to come out..on a pad.
When you throw out his super fireball (qcfx2 + P) you CAN'T throw out a fireball (charge b, press f + P). But if you're in leader super mode, you can throw out a normal fireball when the super firbeball is on screen.
One thing never to do with his leader is super cancel it off of his Command Throw cause the leader activation will hit the opponent and do some damage but you'll kill alot of bar without dealing very much damage. His best leader set-up's are after a
1.Anti-air crouching HP
2.Flash Kick
3. Throw
4. Command Throw
5. Anti-air fireball
6. Anti-air standing far HK
The b + LK, to super is a good tactic to use, but I've taught alot of my friends to just block after the b + LK (I applaud them for that:clap:) so you can't spam this too muc, sometimes if it's blocked and I have no bar or know they won't counter I do, b + HK to move away & possibly hit their limb just in case and store a charge while doing it.
But if you do do a super after the blocked b + LK and they block, make sure it's the fireball super (qcf x 2 + P) since it will pus you out and youll' recover while they're still stuck in block stun.
But if they're in the corner, a good kinda pressure poek to use is
Jumping deep HK, crouching LK, b + LK, Superfireball, Jump in HK, standing HP, Fireball (charge b, press + LP), B + LK (all blocked)
You can only two-in-one to his command throw only in the corner, otherwise the last hit whiffs.
A real damaging combo however is
The opponent is in the corner, crouching LK, command throw, Flash Kick, super cancel, Super Fireball, flash kick, super cancel, Super Fireball, Super Flash Kick (must have full bar)

Cam...when you getting the game? We haven't played anything since SvC, but I'm pretty sure you're still on my friendlist. Hurry up so I can beat you (or lose...whichever happens first).
Oh, and I'm sure they knew that about the 5 stocks. I mean, I did, but I just wasn't thinking about it when I read your post.

I have 3S...I just don't really play it; 'cause I suck. I'm mostly an SNK guy though.

I like SNK players, cause then I don't have to deal with the ppl I kill in my avatar :bgrin:
