Not totally but for a while. I've tried and tried to get better. But after my lastest run of about

100-6 losing streak, I think I need a break. I've been trying to apply what people been telling me. I've trained for hours upon hours. Trying to learn to hit confirm. Try to mix it up and what not.

I still get killed but runaway players and those who are downright better. The better ones I don't mind as much but I at least want to give them a game. Sometimes I'd be better if I put the controller down.

So maybe my break will help me. Just too disapointed in myself. I have a freaking 3100 something to 760 lose/win record. It's freaking embaressing. I can't play offline. No one plays me and no arcades. So online is my only choice.

Oh well...end my rant now. I'll be back sooner or later. I just need to break.

However I kept playing and now I'm def oen of the best players online just cause I got skills. Dont give up aint doing you no good to.

Just make a list of the things that you suffer most during online play. Try doing the same things to other good players and see how they counter them.
Works for me most of the time.
Giving up is a bad idea, but a break is a good one. Good luck

I feel ya man, I have the same problem sometimes, look up my record on XBL, but you will have to keep going. Other learn faster.....so what! Your probably better in other stuff, just keep it up and you'll be up there! I will go on, and expect it or not, people respect you for it.

Keep playing, or you will miss all that heavenly glory!!

That's what I'm talking about, SilentShade. Figcoinc get on XBL and go to the overall ranking and scroll down into the 500-600 area and you'll see RPD rookie and check MY record. After you see that, you'll have nothing to be embarrassed about. Losses happen. Learn from the mistakes and get a strategy. Mind games! Don't worry about losses, they happen. They're an absolute. There will always be someone better. And somedays you just have an off day, where moves just refuse to combo or you mess up a link into a special.

When i get down on my 3s game i try to learn a new character.. you dont feel so bad losing when you're learning someone.. and it helps you learn how to counter that character..
for example Makoto always kicks my ass.. so now im trying to learn her...so i can beat her myself, and beat people with her the way i keep getting killed..
also i'll switch to CFE or guitly gear..
and if im real pissed and need a quick boost ill play my roommate sarah offline while she's drunk.. get like 20 perfects in a row.

see this is what happens when u stay faithfull to peoples ideas, theyre telling you what they know and obviously they kno how to counteract it

its time for you to make up ur own shit, dont do what is "right" all the time basically when ur both doing this it turns into a practise of the moves in which you both know and obviously the better people will beat you cos ur doing moves theyve mastered more than you

try to adapt something new to what you know, its not about executing a move thats for begginers dont think like that uv gotta fucking find out their weaknesses and shag them up their azz with it till they shout down the mic "you fukkin cheeederrr!!"

spam moves like mad dont giv a fuck what they say, i dont spam moves but thats only cos im a fucking idiot and an ignorant one too, but i do know one thing..

TO BE ORIGINAL!

im fully original but the way to be is a Spamming Original

Everyone gets owned sometimes. I'm not that good either. There's some people here who I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 wins against.

Most people worth playing don't care about your win record. As long as you have a good attitude about losing and don't drop or talk shit youre automatically more fun to play then most people on xbl.

It doesn't reflect badly on your progress if you lose more often than you win. If you are trying to improve, the chances are you're deliberately sticking with better opponents to learn new things.

I still lose against people playing the bastardized online version of the game. It's frustrating how effective this can be, and baffling the lengths that some people will go to win. But they can be beaten, without lowering yourself to their level.

With determination and focus the more skilled player will win. Third Strike is fair like that, but it takes far more effort on your part and just isn't worth the aggrovation. If you play a varied, sporting game against these guys, the odds are stacked against you. It's easier and more enjoyable to stick with players that don't reduce the game to mindless tedium for the sake of the scoreboard.

I hope the break does the job for you.

You don't really need to be embarrassed. The only people that care about win/loss ratios are the total rank whores. I've played people like that who are total shit, and played some people with a 15% win ratio that can beat my ass down with low-tiers.

Just stick with it, figure out what you can do personally to improve on your game, and go from there.

DFigman, I remember playing against you. First thing I can recommend(demand) is that you must play against offline comp, preferably better than you. If you don't really have a solid foundation of basics(not in terms of the actual control, but basic okizeme, throw setups, how to recognize them, etc), playing online will make it much harder to get better. The more you can recognize and actual do the "basics", the easier it will be to react to them. Reach out to the VA scene, we have some great players here(not many players total however- -).

I know how you feel. I have a 0/16 win/loss record on CvS2. Although generally, I have seen a few more nice people on other games than say, Halo. They have to be the meanest, childish people I have EVER seen play ANY game out there.

You can't hit confirm online, period. Maybe in a sweet as hell connection w/ Chun li, but usually not.

I wouldn't worry about trying to learn high level strats...if you're at noob level, try to get a feel for the basics and then work your way up to the advanced.

Like in Halo 2. I just played that shit forever till I got good at it. Had I started at noob level then watched vids on bunny hops and all that shit, I woulda sucked ass. You gotta slowly build your game.

You gotta learn to crawl before you learn to walk. That pretty much sums up what I'm trying to say.

ParryAll nailed it. You don't need to learn high level stuff like kara-throwing, hit confirmations, hefty parrying, because online -- they're difficult to use practically (he'll, they're difficult to use practically OFFLINE.)

As stated previously, win ratio means absolutely fuck all online. Playing to win will only turn you to an absolute rank whore/scrub who drops from anyone who can offer a decent challenge. I have difficulty saying play it for fun, as the majority of people online are turds ... So play to improve. Everyone hits slumps, due to learning curves, but they can easily be overcome by learning other characters, playing different people, etc... Apart from a "short" break (couple of weeks), anything longer than that will disrupt your online play.

yeah what happened to playing for fun?

nothing wrong with losing, everyone does it at some point. Just make sure you taunt when you finally win a round.

Kinda glad people actually cared enough to respond to my rant. I'm coming back. I just needed a break to refresh my confidence and all that crap.

My stick though was staring at me, saying "Pop in 3s..you know you want too" so I'm giving in.

Just want to say thanks all for the advice. I'm off to get owned again but now with a little bit more refreshed attitude about it.

Hey Figman, who do you use? I usually lose . . . a lot, so I know what it's like. It sucks. I can hardly have any fun, especially if they taunt after matches, 'cause it hurts my self-esteem more than it should. It's one of those things I should get used to. Oh well, maybe I should use people who are higher in the tiers!

Just keep at it, we all have our off days. Last night I was really off, i lost lots of matches. It happens. If you do feel burned out take a few days off and then come back. Forget about your record its only going to hinder your progress. Its what you do during the match that counts and its not about winning or losing. Its about making your opponent play you at his best win or lose and at the end he/she says, "Damn he's good!"

Ok, for the sake of improving my game and not have Silent Shade go crazy on me and hunt me down..lol.

I decided to try offline for 2 weeks. Use the guide I have and read. Stick with one dude. Not sure if it'll be Dudley, Ryu or someone else. Then come back and see how I do.

I never really played offline at all. So that could be a huge reason for my frustration of learning the basics. Easier to go offline to online than try both at the same time.

So I'll see how this goes for a bit. A little training never hurts.

I'm at this point now on whether to quit playing ST online, or continue to try and get better. It's very hard when you got a ton of things going on, you just really don't have that kind of time to invest to the online scene, unless of course you don't have much of a life =/. When i first got the online ST, i played alot because it was my first experience, so it was something new. Then after awhile, i was getting destoried left and right by very good players. So that in terms kinda shot me down from playing, because "it's just not fun getting beat everytime". I don't mine losing, but if i'm getting raped every game, then that should be telling me something. But like ParryAll pointed out, you have to crawl before you walk, and i totally agree, a simple law of life. Maybe i should try and get better. ^_^

Ok, I trained and trained. Now i'm going to come back to live and see how I do. Hopefully not as random as before. I tried to learn how to zone and keep people in a spot I want them.

Prolly have to adjust to online mode but eh..whatever. Well, just giving a heads up that the scrub is coming back to xbl..lol.

I wish I had that mentality. Admittedly it's intimidating to know you're the underdog among the yard. Heck, most people here can school me, I know it. Just keep practicing they say. I like the way it was put, learn to crawl before you learn to walk.

Friend once told me "Expect to loose thousands of matches before you start making it back with wins". But you will make up those losses afterwards ;)
