Hypothetically Yamazaki strats could go in here, but what I really want to know is how to beat this guy. Yama counters me completely; his grab super (which is invincible, mind you) destroys my poking game and leads to agonizing corner traps, and his air super makes it difficult to just bounce around. I've tried fireballing away at him, but all it takes is one knockdown to lead to tick-grab super all day.

I generally end up losing my first character to Yama, and then taking on the rest of the opponent's team with about 50-40% of total team health. Is there some weakness to this guy that everybody else knows about?

For the record, my usual team is Iori (leader)/Robert/Tizoc, but I can sub in K', Terry, and Kim without losing anything.

Tried that. They can, you know, throw you out of rolls and stuff. And then you're knocked down. And then you're in big trouble.

His super grab lands high, so you can duck it. If you can, use characters with range/projectiles. If you want to get in close it's probably best to jump in, but only if he's not expecting it. If he abuses his counter move, jump in empty and you'll be in his face for free, just don't attack him high. Another way to get in is to slide (i.e. King's df.HK).

I can't think of much other then that. Sorry I'm on the other end of the stick :)

The super grab doesn't matter if your standing or ducking, because remember, if I run in and you block my ducking short kick, then you still eat the super anyway (provided I don't fuck up).

One of my favorite traps is (in the corner) to do a short jump b as you wake up, then immediately follow up with the Grab super. If the b hits, you're taking the super.

I just found out that you can block tick into his SDM as well....if you're quick enough.

I'm 100% cerrtain that it's possible to be super grabbed while ducking.

Ditto. KoF grabs are multi-height, same as SF. It'll grab you if you duck.

Whoa! I'll have to try that!

That's guaranteed damage, but it doesn't do that much. I prefer to go into the corner trap or wakeup trap. It's more work, but overall it does a hell of a lot more damage that his LDM.

You must have alot more lag than I do, because I don't normally have trouble punishing rolls. Every now and then I might miss one, but more often that not I hit with the grab.

I use Yama as my leader, and it's all about his LDM for me...

Use it off a tag, or while they are in the air, it rarely misses...
