I have about 21gigs of music on my laptop and ipod.

I would have more but i had burnt alot of shit to CDs awhile back and I didnt put them back on my computer.

Also, how many gigs of music doesnt really mean much, it's how many songs you have total, cause i mean, some file sizes are big as shit. Alot of my music is at 320 bit rates. So I have around 4200 songs.

Hey, for all the other people who hate their job like me, need to work like child laborors anyway so they can live, I found a great resource online you might want to check out.

I've been saving up a lot of money lately, so I'm starting to learn how to invest it in stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and so on.

Before I do all that, I learned some new info I think a lot of people should consider though. How much money do you have sitting in the bank and what interest rate are you earning on it?

I put $3000 into a money market account at Bank of America last year so I could earn .9% interest on it. Now look at this website I found today...

Anyway, even though it's holiday today, I'm heading out to my bank right now so I can close the account and put my money somewhere where it's actually working for me (instead of paying for the TV airtime of some big national bank branch).

*Newbie Investor Question*

Does anybody know how I can found out the current rates returns for T-Bills?

I placed an order for $1000 worth of the 13 week T-Bill from http://www.treasurydirect.gov/ a little while ago.

I can't find how much I'll be earning anywhere on the site though. I used google and can't seem to figure out how to find current rates either. Is this something I can find in the newspapers?

I have a lot of money in my savings account (from a smaller local bank with higher interest rates, not that national Bank of America chain) just sitting there, and the direct deposit I get from work keeps adding up also. Although I still don't know what I'm doing totally, I do know that just letting your money sit in some bank account isn't going make your life better anytime soon, so I bought some T-Bills since doing so is so easy.

I'm still too scared to put my money into stocks on my own right now (although I did put $5000 into some mutual funds offered by my bank last year, and have made $1000 minus commission so far), so just stick my money anywhere (T-Bills) in the meantime. Even if the rate (whatever it is) is lower than what I would get if I just left the money in my savings account, I'm happy I've gotten the experience at least.

Too many of my coworkers blow their paychecks on going to the casino and treating that as their "investment". A lot of my gamer friends buy all sorts of stupid expensive shit they don't need like Xbox360 or Razor phones. The three most important things in my life at the moment are food, shelter, and sex (non-prostitute/paying stripper for a handjob sex), and I honestly don't see how making a NEW COMPUTER with fancy video card your priority with what to do with your money helping with any of those three things I mentioned. Put the money you make at work in a savings account that gives you 4% instead of 1% at the very least.

My older brother (who joined the Marines after high school) literally had ALL his life savings and income (around 30k USD for a twenty something year old) in a checking account that was making close to ZERO interest. Today, I deleted the phone number of the girl I was chasing btw...

She did see me at a table semi-flirting/talking with another girl the other day (but she has a bf already), instead of going over to say hi to her like I normally do. I personally don't think it's likely (just a small reason in addition to various other stuff), but maybe that's the reason she didn't care that I gave her the present later and hinted how happy I was to have met her this year too.

Anyway, I saw her purposely avoided coming in contact with me tonight. I KNOW she saw me too, because the person walking next to her came by to say hi to me. I meant the countries are doing well economically, sorry if that wasn't clear. You can't really compare their society to ours because their value system and culture is different.

From what I know, the U.S., Canada, and a few South American nations use the 12 hour clock. Everyone else uses the 24 hour notation.

I'm like you and think that the AM/PM method is too confusing. 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM look exactly the same to me if I look out the window, so I always go by military time to avoid that. My parents were also both in the military at the Philippines back in the day, so they taught me how to tell time the 24 hour method as a kid, and it stuck with me from then on.

EDIT: I also think the Metric System should be used in the U.S.. A mile is 5,280 feet. Where do they come up with shit like that?

Don't pick it up as converting it from 12 hour notation to 24. Just think of it as it's own thing and you pick it up instantly. When you try to convert it back in forth in your head, OF COURSE it's going to take you a longer time to figure out what time it is.

EDIT: The Metric System eh. Yeh i like that better too. But most of the time when telling distances, which I use it most for anyway, it's always in an estimate. But yes that shit is also better. I still use MPH though instead of KPH. Cause alot of car magazines give you the 0-60.

Good moooooorning SRK! Finally, my triumphant return from the far-too-long Christmas vacation.

I was forced to visit my family in San Diego for three days (they're not bad people, they're just so boring it's sinful) which involved nothing more than eating, more eating, and me playing my DS, with minor present-opening (every year they get me pens...wtf? plz stop camping teh llamer spawn k thx) on the assist. By far, the best portion was when we flew into Napa valley to visit my mom's friend who proceeded to take us to San Francisco the next day. Quite a great deal of events:

I got to visit Alcatraz. I thought this was ridiculously cool and took waaaay too many pictures.

I went on a 2 and a half hour tour of San Francisco, during the course of which I saw enough beautiful asian women to make the collective consciousness of SRK go into a pleasure-coma, turn all of its bodily fluids into semen, and eject it all violently in a torrential spermstorm of yellow-fever-induced would-be-children that would drown the internet, and to passers-by appear to be a mudslide, so long as you exchange 'mud' for 'eerily greasy mashed potatoes'. Also, there were buildings or something.

I got to complete some handheld games on my DS I've been meaning to get cracking at, finished a Robotech novel (rekindling my love for that series, and desire to play Robotech: Battlecry. Viva La Skull-One!), got to visit some arcades where they actually had fighting games (I played KOF XI at a Tilt in a Sacramento mall on Monday night, w00t Duck King!) and not just dancing and shooting cash-cows. To be honest, that's the first time I've seen a Third Strike cabinet. Round it all out with good food and a seven hour lay-over in Atlanta on the way back (I contemplated walking home) on only two hours of sleep, and you've got yourself a busy, and overall good vacation.

I just discovered fitday.. it is my new calorie counter/diet journal.

Right now, I am aiming to be at 125 lbs by my birthday in Feb.. I think I can do it. I got my running sneakers, i've got good scenery and hella delicious weather here in NYC, and i've got a treadmill RIGHT NEXT TO MY PC DESK. I'm not lying, folks. speaking of martial arts, that's something I keep telling myself I should get back into. But so many things need to happen in order for me to ever actually do it. I need to:

Find a family doctor

London has a huge shortage of family doctors, and I've been unable to get one since I moved here. 7 1/2 years ago. I don't know what more depressing, that it's going to likely take a decade before I have a doctor, or the fact that I've lived in this shit town for that long.

Get a physical

I haven't had a physical since I moved here. I could have developped any number of diseases since then. The main one I'm concerned about is diabetes and it wouldn't surprise me at all if I was diagnosed with it.

Get in better shape

Before I even think of starting martial arts, I have to be in good enough shape to actually do basic warmups without getting burned out.

Actually make time in my schedule

Besides my full-time job, my other occupation is a semi-professional (I use that term *very* loosely cause I suck.) card player. No, not poker, the other other card game. The geeky one. Yeah. Don't laugh, I actually do make money at it. And it's fun. And if I was better at it, I would be full time card-player and part-time job instead of the other way around. Where was I going with this? Oh yeah.
I have to spend a lot of time preparing for and playing in tournaments. Probably 2-3 nights a week and on average every other full Saturday. This doesn't leave a lot of time for physical training, so I'd have to cut back on the card playing. Or I'd have to lose my job (which is going to happen in 9 months anyway).

Hey, if there's real $$ to be won, nothing to be embarrassed about though. Aside from work, learning how to invest my savings, and the one time I won that super awesome $10 pot at the CvS2 tournament nobody besides me and the people that were there for 3S but entered CvS2 anyway showed up at, I've never made any money from any hobby I've ever been into that's for sure. You're talking about Magic cards right? I don't know if there are as many fish/scrubs in SF as there are trading card games, and definitely not as many as there are in poker, but how are the prizes and turnout compared to SF tournments usually? I know those Nintendo fanboys who play Smash all day enjoy larger tournies and more money for their hobby of all things...

I don't know how much things cost in Canada usually, but definitely don't pay more than $80-$100 USD a month for any kind of martial arts school/club membership. Any place that promises you a black belt within a certain period of time ("Black Belt Program" for $2000 etc...), avoid those schools also.

I have horribly low motivation for myself also. I'll have so much self discpline for the first month or so, but then I realize that I'm bored or depressed or something and not care anymore. Couple weeks later, I realize I'm getting fat around my belly or feel weak in general, and the vicious cyle starts again.

I taped a picture of a random hot girl I like to my wall to keep me motivated this time. I also took a sexitastic picture of myself wearing nothing but European style briefs so I can compare the pictures and oogle myself a few months later when I've trimmed my waistline and increased muscle size. Most importantly, I exchanged phone numbers with a few buddies I've made working out at the gym though, and I find that helps the most in keeping me motivated to go.

Women get called such horrible names sometimes, and I really don't like that whenever it's because of a double standard also. I thought I was in love the first time I ever started seeing a girl. I can answer the both of those! I rocked the animated Laughing Man AV for a short while. I picked it because i had just finished GITS: SAC and fell in love with the fact that the line circling him is from The Catcher in the Rye. I live for Cyberpunk stuff, so I went with it for a while. :sweat:

How do you mess up grinding?

I seriously didn't know it was possible till I pulled this random girl to dance and she just started grinding on me without warning. No matter what I did through a combination of being right next to the speaker (shit was giving me a headache) and my own lack of dancing skills I fucked it up.

Which is actually a relief since I was thinking about asking a girl I was actually thinking about trying to get with me later on to dance, so it is best that I embarressed myself on a girl I had no interest beyond physical attraction.

I "accidentally" stole milk today. It's mildly amusing to me, because for once, I didn't even intend to steal. I was at self-checkout area...I scanned all the things...and forgot the milk was in the lower part of the shopping buggy. So I was on my way out...and someone pointed out to me "hey, you forgot your milk." For a sec., I was unsure of whether I should go back and scan that...but the line already moved on, and I instantly wondered if I it would set off an alarm if I just went ahead and took it....

of course, it didn't. So...I got free milk today, and that puts me in a good mood. I was already feeling good since this is a 4-day weekend for me.

For once, I actually agree...partially...with the subtitle fanboys. However, only in the case of the incredibly annoying Naruto himself. The other voices sound just fine, imo. Zabuza, Haku, and Kakashi Sensei in particular sound great. Sasuke, etc....the english voices all seem to fit the characters and how they look, imo. Anyway, the bitching about the voices is one of the things I predicted would happen back when I first noticed how insanely popular Naruto was, with the huge regular threads here. I even mentioned this many times, along with others having the same prediction: "haha...they're all going to suddenly hate it when it comes to american TV."

unfortunately no...I haven't even spoken to her since college, so I was actually joking to myself(*something I do often..heh, I crack myself up on a regular basis *internally*.). My former roommate/best friend and his wife mentioned this to me when I was over their house last weekend.

I stopped caring for "the game" a LONG time ago, but recently I realized that you can't go on forever alone....not out of desire for romance/love...but mostly because it's actually a necessity for life. Think forward a few decades. Your health isn't so sharp anymore....suddenly you fall or something...who is going to be there to take care of things if you've become a hermit in life? When old and weak; well into the retirement phase of life....who will take care of a hermit? Naturally, that's the time we tend to rely on our kids who have grown up to hopefully be successful. Of course, that can't happen without the sex/romance/possible marriage that produced the kids in the first place. There is adoption...but eh...that's more of a "last resort" type of thing, imo....something I will no doubt have to resort to, but my predicament is not the main topic here...

...it just sucks to know that stupid ass cliche I heard so much in childhood is true: "no man is an island." I was doing just fine emotionally and psychologically(at least I think so) when I finally just said "fuck this love bullshit. I need money and good health, that's it.". It was such a huge relief; I was never anywhere near as depressed as so many moments from junior high on up through so many lonely nights in college. I simply cut myself off from caring so much, and it was great. I felt "free", and I took joy in so many other things in life; videogames, porn/strippers, money, art, music, etc....the real goodies in this crap world.

So basically, I have no choice but to play this stupid, incredibly fucked up, lopsided, asanine "game"....just to make sure I have people to take care of me later on in life. The difference now is that I'll be playing the game more out of necessity than genuine desire.

I am a shut-in, more or less. I rarely go out, and when it is it is to buy food to cook, to go to a club or a rave, or to see my fiance.

It basically boils down to the fact I have no real friends IRL, and once I moved back to Staten Island they all forgot I existed for the most part.

I sit at home all day on the PC for the most part. It's starting to change though, as i'm getting into a workout schedule and such. :sweat:
