As I just received my first hate mail on day 2 of playing SFxT I thought nothing would be better than to start the SFxT edition of this thread since I always find the ones in mvc3 and ssf4 forums amusing.

I joined a room that had 2 people playing as 1 team, and I totally beat the shit out of them. I nearly perfected them round 2. They clearly had no clue how to play this game yet and were just doing scrub tactics, kept jumping in on me over and over and I kept AA'ing them.

In the middle of my next match (the room only had room for 4 people, so it was the only other person in there that wasnt on his team), I received this message...

I then replied with the classic "umad?" to which he sent me this message...

to which I replied "says the salty loser sending hate mail after he loses" and I heard nothing back.

FlyingVe is also foolish nice enough to zealously record a video for each combo. Just click on the link at the top of each category!

Limitations:
-SOLO only. No tag cancel, no post launcher damage, no Cross Art etc
-Standing/Crouching passive dummy. No jumping, no trades, no meaties (except due to spacing).
-No "setups": Full screen fireball => run behind, removing Vega's Mask, 3x Fireball store etc
-No "pre-charge". You may only use charge moves if you can charge them during the combo itself.
-+Category specific rules. (Listed at the top of each category)

General Rules
-All that matters is maximum damage! No matter how unpractical the starter is or how miniscule the damage increase is.
-It doesn't matter how difficult it is as long as it's doable within the limitation. Go crazy with 1F links if it pushes the damage!
-DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS to update your combos! Make a new post with the changes instead.
-If you want to add/update combos for a character, ALWAYS include the damage and use this notation system:

Same rules apply; send in clips, recorded in any way as long as it comes out good and I'll give it a watch for awesome stuff and put it in a future episode of the show. I'm hoping we can get more contributions for this season as SFxT is experiencing a resurgence, so please help me out with this show!! Hey everyone! I just started playing SFxT a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I've been a member of TestYourMight (an MK forum) and have had a lot of fun making new friends there. I'd like to make some new friends here, so I thought I'd make a thread where I introduce myself, and I can update this thread with my SFxT progress. I'm posting here and not in the general SRK forum because I'm specifically interested in talking to and making friends with the hardcore SFxT players!

And here's an introduction:

I live in Chicago, IL (originally from Virginia Beach) - I'm a musician, i'm gay, i'm a vegetarian, and I've never drank alcohol or done drugs in my life. That being said, I don't negatively judge anyone who is different than me. I think it is all about making healthy individual choices, and what's right for me may not be right for you. So right there - a lot of those things make me feel really weird/different and sometimes I have difficulty relating to others. I am a pretty awesome guy though! I have a lot of great friends - I will say that I am very lucky. Sometimes I don't know exactly how to reach out or ask for help when I need it, but that's a common problem. I have also struggled with suicidal thinking and depression. Good news: I'm working on it. That's what this thread is about for me - just to share a little by little and get myself out there more. If anyone out there ever wants to talk about any related issues, feel free to message me - I'm always happy to listen.

I've been a video game fanatic most all of my life. My buddy and I were really hardcore about Street Fighter II when we were younger. We both had asthma, so it was a great way for us to play and have fun and not risk an attack. Street Fighter II Turbo was my favorite and I was a little less excited when Super Street Fighter II came out. I didn't play 3, but went crazy when I discovered Capcom Vs. SNK 2.

I took a big break from fighting games, and then last year, another video game friend called me up and said "The fighting game championships are happening this weekend! Watch them online with me!!" I had no idea about EVO and was really impressed with the skill level. These pros made my best games look like kindergarten stuff. I finally got an Xbox 360, got a copy of Mortal Kombat Vs. DC, and then Mortal Kombat (2011). I joined TestYourMight, made some new friends, invested in an arcade stick, and had tons of fun playing fighting games again.

After a while, I wanted to expand my fighting game palette. I saw the SFIV games and became a huge fan of Daigo. I was thinking about getting SFIV, and then realized that I really love the Tekken characters - I last played them in Tekken 2 and 3. So I played SFxT and thought it was really fun, innovative and exciting. I liked how it felt like SF, but took the game to a new level, with tagging, gems, Tekken characters, etc. I've been watching a lot of the CrossCounter game/instructional videos and love getting absorbed in this stuff.

So here I am! I've been asking tons of newbie questions and bumping old threads because frankly, I'm just late to the game. I know a lot of this stuff is old hat for some people on here, and I know some people hate the game or have totally moved on, but it's awesome to me and I think this will be a game I'll be playing and loving for a really long time.

Pandora tech finding thread (ver 2013)

SFxT ver 2013 is finally out and Pandora is a brand new mechanic. That means we start from scratch.

Pandora changes are as follows:

-Pandora now lasts 10 seconds instead of 7.
-Gives instant full stock instead of refilling gradually.
-The teleport has been eliminated and now your partner appears right where your point was sacrificed.
-Damage is multiplied by 1.15 no matter how much health you have left.
-Has less startup/recovery frames. (not sure about the exact frames)

Roundtable Discussion: Ways in which to expand the SFxT community

I want this to be a roundtable discussion on what we can do as a community to keep this game alive. The rest of this post contains my own ideas, primarily the creation of more fan content on this game. After all, pro players just need to practice it and stomp the SF4-expansion pack players to make a difference, but what about those of us unable to do so and wanting to support it in other ways?

Well we live in the information age and yet all the information one can find about this game is either blatantly negative or highly dated. We complain that we are among the few that play this game correctly and realize how different it is than AE, but if one takes the time to look at the instructional content for this game outside the character forums it is all months old. If someone picks up the game and earnestly wants to learn it, most likely they will access the launch (some pre-launch) character guides and combo videos that understandably show little working knowledge of what the game offers now. Even the SRK guide and the Eventhubs stuff have not been updated since around release date.

The only way to combat misinformation is to replace it with the correct stuff. I'm thinking things like youtube walkthroughs for various characters (not just combo videos) done by people who actually know how the game has evolved. Ideally, there'd be game specific walkthroughs that outline the uniqueness of the game and how to go about exploiting it for one's advantage such as time, life, and meter management, building the best team, The Oki game (forward roll discussed), effective gem lineups, and all that. Heck, even just uploading higher level play to youtube or hosting a high level stream on twitch would be great because I do not even see those (JiBbo excluded of course!).

This is very ambitious for me because I have no means of making youtube videos, hosting a stream, or even an ounce of pull within my local community. That is why this is partly a call for those who have such resources to use them in defense of your game. Even so, I would be happy to write lots and lots for this game, be it walkthroughs, tournament coverage, character analysis, anything, if people feel that it can help. For starters, I was thinking of making short, updated guides (preferably for newcomers) on SFxT elements as well as for the characters I know and sticking them on the character forums. The character threads are great sources of information, but it is incredibly taxing to sort through the pre-release hype, the ineffectual week 1 tech, etc. My goal would be to reduce the essential knowledge for each character into bitesize chunks.

So does anyone feel like joining me in this quest to save SFxT and turn some heads? I promise my writing will be more condensed. I feel a little guilty because JiBbo is doing so much and while we all benefit from it, I feel we can do more to get not only his words but our own out there as well. If anyone has any ideas please share them, I want to be put to work.

I want to start with a "Boost Gems and you" guide that details why boost gems are badass and why both beginners and knowledgable players should pay them more attention.

Does anyone know how Capcom's online matchmaking system actually works? I'm new to SFxT (although not new to fighting games), and I'm surprised that I'm consistently matched with players holding 3-4000 BP higher than me (despite having "same" marked off on the difficulty level). To be clear, I'm not really complaining about this, I'm just curious as to how it actually works....?

I started playing again after quite a few months off and since coming back it seems there are very few people playing this game, and the ones that are all seem to be new comers. For example last night after repeatedly trying to find one I managed to see only 1 endless battle? Another good example is the fact that I won 13 fights in a row as soon as I came back, and I suck, so that goes to show the quality of the opposition I was playing.
I play from the UK but will search with settings set to any.
I do not have the DLC characters is this limiting the amount of players I can fight? i was vaguely under the impression that this was not the case in SF X tekken but like i said I havn't played in months and can't really remember.

Lately, for some reason or another, I've been having good connections, but my battles keep getting canceled for little to no reason. The connections are like 2-3 bars most of the time, but my matches keep getting canceled out of nowhere. Can someone help me out with this?

So sometimes when I invite my friend into my endless lobby or to my party for coop ranked, he gets stuck on the "Transmitting data" screen and after a minute it says "could not join lobby". It happens when I try to join as well. This error started happening recently. Does anyone know the fix?

ALSO, I'm on the PC version and all of the ports are forwarded, NAT type OPEN and uPnP is enabled.

The reason Sagat was on my team to begin with was because a good friend of my perceived him to be terrible. I'd like to think I've done him great justice and now I'm willing to move on and take apart other characters and team compositions just the same.

Please briefly comment on who you think is the worst character and why. At the end of this week I will tally up and decide which characters to play. The following week I will be posting videos on my youtube channel of strategies and technology that I find with the team of my choosing. When I arrive back in the states I'll bring the team out in my stream and possibly more.

My goal is to investigate the mentality of our community, further develop discussion of SFxT and more so to teach how to think outside the box.

Problems that i'am having.

I'am getting creamed by these ppl who can do these long intricate combos where i can barely pull off a 3 hit combo. The combo i been practicing now for the past several hours is a simple one which is a leaping into HK then crouching LP,MP then follow up with a shoryuken. half the time i can get the punches out but never the shoryuken and i'm getting quite flustered that i can't pull what seems to be a simple combo. What can i possibly do to improve my win condition? are there somehow easier combos that don't know? or is it possible to win games without having to do much combos at all? any tips would be great

YO! I can't be the only one that got this. I figure we have some fun with a few unique features. The AR photo stuff is kinda neat. I wish I had some better lighting for these, maybe I'll get better lighting to take some later.

How do I take an AR photo?

From the main menu, go to PLAYER DATA, then select the GALLERY menu.
From here on, you can select/tap Blanka & Sakura in the center to access the AR photo mode.
Select your character, costume, colors, and you're set!
Shoot in a well lit area and snap. The side panels have specific actions you may set the AR model to.
Tapping them will cause them to taunt!

How do I transfer the AR photos?

Take your USB to Vita plug, connect your PC to the Vita through the cable.
Access CONTENT MANAGER on your Vita and choose VITA TO PC transfer.
If you haven't already, you must install the content manager on your PC first to setup folders and directories.
They will transfer to where ever you default them to on the PC for photos, videos, etc.

Who else exists that can reliable generate a grounded switch cancel?

I realize that there are other chars that can grounded switch [nina, cody, and others] but i want chars that can hit confirm into their grounded switch cancel move.

If you mistime the 2nd input in the throw chain, the other player automatically counter punches you. Is that from a Tekken game, if so which one(s)? I've never seen it in a Tekken game and can't find a video of it on youtube.

SFXT: Online Tournament Series - Bi-Weeklies!

Alright rules and first date seems to be decided upon. Join up with the SXT Online Tournament Series (OTS). All information tournaments are in 2nd post.

I really enjoy this game and I know that I am obviously not alone. What I would like to do to help contribute to the community is throw bi-weekly(?) Tournaments for the the individuals on live (looking for volunteers on pc/psn if wanted). They will be free to enter and I will even work on recording matches (winners, losers, grand finals). I would love to just see this game grow and progress through this rough patch it is in.

We can decide dates and times but, for right now I want to see what people think about experimenting with gems ON for some of the events (maybe for the first 5 events)? Capcom repeatedly reminds us that the game was designed with gems in mind and considering it would be an online tournament series, time constraints are FAR less of an issue than offline events.

This also purposes that we come up with a common list of accepted and banned gems. I would prefer, personnaly that we do not allow the defense and throw tech gems off the bat but up to the community. Also are there any other questionable gems that we should be concerned of?

Anyways, this was a passing thought of mine while reading through the evo sxt thread :X. I will be doing lots of online gaming in the next few months so, might as well support a game I enjoy quite a bit.

IRC Connection tutorials:
There are a few options for connecting to IRC via PC. I am going list a few here (there are so many variations) and a quick tutorial with pictures.

EFNET
Step 1: put http://www.efnet.org in your browser bar and hit enter.
It will take you to EFNET irc web based client.

Next you will want to enter your nickname you wish to go by in the "Nick" section and the Channel (room) you would like to enter which is #sfxt. From there hit "connect". Step 3: Start the program and this is the first screen you will see. First thing you want to do is click the the "file" option in the upper left hand corner as pictured. In the file options, select "select server" from the choices.

Step 4: A small box will pop up with various options. Click the "Connect" option at the top of the left hand panel. It will bring up the option to put in your nick name. Choose whatever you like. Then Click the "servers" option next.

Step 5: Select "EFnet" from the options in the server choices and select a specific server (I typically just choose random unless I am having issues connecting, choose whichever works best for you). Select the "OK" button.

Step 6: Hit the connect button (which sort of looks like a lightning bolt) which is directly under the file option in the top left the screen. It will eventually connect for you and will bring up the screen in the picture. This is the last step, just add the rooms you would like to join: #sfxt , #capcom, #efltalk, #snkplaymore, whatever you are trying to join (cross tekken room in this case).

because I spent the past 2 rounds conditioning him with resets into lows and throws. Resets are some of the most powerful things in this game, there is a reason tekken characters have strings that don't combo and almost everyone has specials that leave the opponent standing.
