Sorry about my stick acting up. I got it fixed now (a wire came loose and caused a short). Hopefully there won't be any more problems.

Good games everyone, see you all next week.

Hey so I'm going to be an upcoming freshman at UW. Is stuff like this gonna be running throughout the day during school or is it just for gatherings? And I was also wondering if a lot of people play at Pink Gorilla. I'm actually from Hawaii so I've only been there twice when I went up for orientation but from what I've seen, no one was there :(

The Console Freeplay group will in all liklihood still be holding weekly meetings during the school year. I can't say for certain since I'm no longer president, but I don't see why they'd stop. Pink Gorilla is honestly pretty empty. I too wish there were more people there playing Marvel or willing to show me CvS2.

Duggish speaks the truth. Anyone interested in teaming up for a UW Team? :D

The stuff we've been doing at the library is all still pretty new, and is only really planned for this summer. Depending on schedules and availability of the space during the regular academic year, things may change once Autumn quarter starts. Hopefully we'll be able to find time during the regular year to make regular sessions in the same room (because honestly I think it's really convenient with it being free to use and easy to set up at).

I was playing MvC2 at Pink Gorilla yesterday actually - I've only been going there recently during lunch breaks. But Hyper Inferno is right, it's pretty dead. I end up always finishing the arcade modes of MvC2 and CvS2 before anyone even walks past me (although shockingly a guy challenged me twice at MvC2 yesterday while I was playing). I think the second player side has a brand new stick since it feels like it hasn't been broken into yet, which should give you a good idea of how much people play there -_-.

Anyways, welcome to UW. Keep this thread in mind once Autumn Quarter rolls around, we'll probably have something going to keep this campus scene active.

Yes. We'll be meeting tomorrow from 2-4pm at Odegaard Room 334. If you want to learn fundamentals, we'll be more than willing to give a few pointers

To everyone else: I'll bring an Xbox 360 tomorrow. This way, we can have two setups going on. What we need are STICKS!! Bring them tomorrow, unless you guys want to play arcade mode haha

I really had a blast, and, as I already knew, have a lot to learn. Excited for next time. If there was a way to make this more frequent that would be tight.

P.S. Downloading Guile theme, while learning Flash Kick combo FADC > shades.

Awesome session everyone. Like what was stated earlier, it looks like we improved and learned a lot in such a short amount of time.

And also - that dang Guile theme. Good game nightodyssey, caught me the first time haha

I think at this point if I really want get better at SSFIV, I should probably just settle down and pick a single character.

Seeing as how it's August, you could start to work on putting a club together for the UW. You likely won't get any money, but you can use it to organize events, reserve rooms on campus, get discounted rates on cheap rooms, advertise to players, and generally give people who are looking for a gaming club someone to talk to.

You would need five people to be officers and you need to attend a short 30 minute meeting on having a club. Hyper Inferno (Chris) could let you know more about it.

I figured out the problem with my stick. For some reason, the analog is permanently stuck on up left. It didn't affect F/UC, 3S, or GGXX:AC since I guess analog is disabled by default on those games.

So, does anyone know how to solve this problem?
  • marusmarus Joined: Posts: 220
The way the pad interprets the direction of the analog stick is controlled by variable resistors - since the analog is stuck in up-left, I'm assuming that you removed the analog stick from the pad? You'll need to solder a couple of resistors to the board to replace the variable resistors you removed, so that the pad "sees" the analog at neutral. I'm not sure exactly how much resistance you need - try asking in the tech-talk forum.

Btw, my stick started working perfectly fine as soon as I got home - I think it just hates me.

I'm just down in the tac but I'm from Seattle and frequently visit. I'm hella down to get some casuals in for sure. I didn't even realize but I think were friends on Xbox live already. Unfortunately the internet is down at my house right now. 2064377424 is my number so get at me homie so we can figure something out

The odd thing is, I did a bit more troubleshooting and it only gets stuck in the up left position if its plugged into player 2. In player 1, it gets stuck for a while, then stops.

Fixed it. Yay! Now just pray we don't have another malfunction next week. Yeah, this session should happen again next week. And this time, we'll actually have two different setups running two different games! Hopefully.

Personally I like the idea for starting a club based off fighting games (with a focus on ssfiv most likely). Apparently no one likes my idea of naming it Shoryuken at the UW though... *grumble grumble*

But yeah next week well have my ps3 with ssfiv (and marvel if were bored), I can't remember the other station.

Okay this may be a little out of place but I've been hosting sessions for Soul Calibur 4 for over a year now at my house in Ballard. We've been going strong every week and even though I personally have no desire to change we do have some SF players there. So if any of you all wanna play some SC and get some other games in hit us up on 8wayrun.com and you'll see us on the Seattle thread. Thanks.

GGs everyone, I hope having double Super setups made up for last week.

Also, I have room 334 reserved for this Friday, from 12-4 pm. Anyone that wants to stop by, do it! I'll have my 360 again, to get ready for TP6 this weekend.

Awesome, I'll definitely be showing up. Gotta get some major practice in now that summer quarter will finally be over. I looked to see if the room was available after 4, but it looks like it's booked for other people. So I guess we'll be having a 4-hour power session.

Also, great games today. It was cool having double setups - we pretty much had nonstop playing time for everyone who came by. By the way, anyone have portable speakers or something for the bigger TV? Playing without sound for that one is lame.

Oh yeah, it was also cool being able to play a little Melty Blood as well. It really does feel like you are doing more than you really are doing haha

I really will bring my screwdriver this time. Fix the lucky stick!

If anyone is interested to get more practice for TP6 after the 4 hour session I am down. If worst comes to worst people are welcome to come to my room (sorry 1 tv) as I will be practicing tough, unless someone has a better idea for extra practice area.

I work in Seattle and am really familiar with the UW (I meet with a lot of Japanese exchange students there for conversation partnership.) Maybe I'll bring my stick and show up. Room 334 of what building? Maybe someone can meet me at the hub :X
