I have been playing SSFIV for awhile now but I really suck. So I finally decided to actually learn and play. So I picked Abel. I have been able to perform
his f+mk > dash cancel > s.hp xx fierce CoD and c.mp > LP. COD > FADC > c.Hp > U1 about 1 out of 3 times somtimes more. I believe the s. hp after the dash cancel is a 1 frame link is this correct? My second questions is on the second combo I am working on is the c.hp after the FADC a 1 frame link? also any advice for performing these combos is greatly appreciated.

Although I should probably take this to the other character forum, I was wondering if Abel is a good alt for Juri? I know Juicebox mains Abel alts juri, but what I want to know is as far as matchups go, would Abel really help Juri?
Bison, and Adon are probably my worst matchups too.
To get some sort of ball rolling, could people please discuss potential Alts that could help a Juri player all around.

Should you drop Abel if you can't react to step kick hitting or blocking?
You will be able to do it eventually if you keep practicing...
Training mode + random block = Good thinking

Alrighty. New Abel player here and I've got a couple of questions.
1. Are you required to be able to hitconfirm a dash after tw.MK, if you're going to play on a semi-serious level?
I've tried hitconfirming, but it seems impossible to me. As soon as I try to react to the hit I'll press forward again, but I'll be too slow and the dash won't come out. Is it humanly possible to react quickly enough? Or are you supposed to condition your opponent about whether or not you're going to dash in?
I don't usually react I press forward after step kick and if it hits I'm dashing in and if it doesn't I'm not(I think it's a sort of option select/buffer) I will also throw out empty step kicks for the sake of srk baiting etc.
I wouldn't say if you can't see that step kick has hit to go for shp to drop Abel just work on it, as for the ultra the timing differs for characters but not massively, I do do(>.>) what you said about the horizontal body for pretty much every character though and if you diddnt know in the corner it helps to go for a CoD after the crhp fadc then into ultra as timing is hard in corner and won't even work on most characters I think. Hope this helped
2. What is a general timing for landing U1? I usually wait to do the ultra until I see the opponent's body is completely horizontal. Which has worked for me up until now, but I can't say I've used it on more than a couple of characters. Could this be considered a rule of thumb?
Edit: I also read the following:
But I wasn't sure if this was referring to dashing after tw.MK or trying to combo tw.MK into BNB.

No problem. As long as you don't forget to post when you get home! =D
Edit: I just re-read your quote and I see that you actually answered my questions!
Yes, it could work as an option-select from a distance I suppose. But when your opponent is already in range, you don't have that luxury.
Considering the BNB into U1 (in the corner), do you mean that you should do: cr.FP, CoD, U1?
Jehoedi, post: 6813773, member: 10175 wrote:
Oh, that's what you meant! It's situational, but definitely worth knowing. Is there a good way of connecting U1 after his BNB (tw.MK, cs.HP xx CoD, FADC, cr.HP) in the corner (without having to spend 4 meters, haha)?
