I use PCSX2, so I can use my fightstick. Better than nothing I guess. They need to release an online edition of this game for modern consoles that isn't the EO version.

I agree with nullDC being the best solution at least for offline; works really well. I have no idea about the online though, I'd love to play anyone if they've figured it out.

Demul works ok for me. I had a problem with the new version and went back to the old version. They got rid of multithreading for the gpu plugin it slowed things down. NullDC also works well for me. I don't think NullDC has a real netplay plugin though.

Anyone with demul(since it's the only way to play this online) trouble should run with the 0.56 version.GO to config->Plugins. Choose the dx3 video plug-in. Check the multithreaded box, and it should work at 60fps. That is IF you have a good enough computer. I've yet to do extensive testing but it seems to work pretty good offline.

I have great success with what I use. I just wish there was some fluid, consistent online play.

I'm glad your set-up is working for you. I'm not saying demul is the be all end all emulator. I'm saying it's the only option for netplay right now. I'm willing to try helping any of you guys get it going so we can AT least TRY it.

Oh I didn't mean it like that. I guess things sound a certain way online. I just meant that PCSX2 has given me no problems in case someone wants to try it. I'd love to play a human player on it. :)

It may be more demanding on your pc though. I think that's why some have more problems than others.

    Does this still work?

If it's the only way to play CvS2 online, I'd try it out. Do people still play?

I had the worst time trying to get demul up and running consistently. Any tutorials? Cvs2 online deserves another try.

Can someone PM me how to do this?

I have no clue how to set it up. I downloaded Demul and extracted the files but I have no clue where to go from there.

@Half-Ro Its pretty easy, just needs better netcode, unless you playing someone super close the delay is bad.

    Just wondering about something...

Didn't the Dreamcast and JP PS2 releases have netplay (cross-platform even)? Would it be possible to net-play on those versions through private servers (similar to Phantasy Star Online's Schthack)?

The delay on PC feels the same as it did on XBL but better when you're playing someone close.

Hopefully someone can post up a "How to play CvS2 online for Dummies" type thing, so I can jump online and play with you guys.

I've googled it, and found a few forums that try to explain it but it's still confusing and more importantly, all the links they have are dead.

Sweet thanks. I literally have no clue what I'm doing.

It's as if I have PS3 and I'm trying to put in a 360 games upside down or something.

There really is no one playing it online. It's too difficult to set up time to play with people, it's not like you can just idle in a lobby and have someone join. I've played a few randoms and i used to play with Scoot quite a bit a while back.

So I'm guessing there is going to be a problem with lag, but how bad is it from Dallas to Atlanta?
I'm going to play with my brother on a computer that is shitty even for playing GGPO.
Do you guys think this means unplayable CvS2 for me or have you guys fared well online?

Jesus, I posted in there 3 years ago. Did they ever get this to work well offline? Are there ANY stable emulated versions of CvS2 right now? Because last time I tried, everything was ass.

Yah, that's what I thought. I don't know why the emu scene hasn't figured it out yet.

Fuck it, I'll just buy a cab and play locally.

I'm sure they could figure it out pretty easy. I just think the interest is not there to have CvS2 run perfect from the people who make these emulators. Ponder Im sure could easily add demul support on ggpo for example.

Simple answer is no to all of it.

Hard answer is that there is two different type of emulation one matches opcodes to what ever processor your using to. The other is to emulate (not simulate) the cpu itself.

One is going to be inaccurate the other and fast and good chances of being too fast and not being able to run games. The other method has better compatibility but hogs more resources and takes more work. Demul falls more on the the first option.

Also, Demul is closed source so Ponder can't do shit with it unless he does a kaillera replacement.

I asked why GGPO didn't support naomi games. This was the answer I got.
