He suggests screw ins(?), but I've seen people use some exotic buttons that I can only seem to find in the snap ins, mostly just browsing focus attack though. Anyone know whats up with that?

The panel will be too thick for snap-ins to secure, thus the screw-in style button recommendation. In the end you can use snaps because you'll be applying downward force, it's just better form to use screw-in buttons.

FA's OBSN-30 stock does look a little thin right now, but they are completely rocking a huge selection of Seimitsu screw style buttons.

There's also other shops around if you're looking for something more specific.

(I'm not any help regarding TV or template though.)

Does anybody happen to have the photoshop template for the Kraylix V3 2 Player Cab? I can't find the file anywhere and its no longer on any of the download sites. I want to do a Blaz Blue theme for my V3 cab.

Just thought I would chime in regarding possible screens to use for their cabinet, thats if your fitting a 32". I used a 32" Samsung UN32EH4003 LED in the last cabinet I must say there is absolutely minimal to no lag. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, everyone that played on it couldnt detect any lag. The only down side to his screen is that it only has 2 hdmi inputs and no audio out which is strange but a hdmi switcher with audio out worked great for me. I paid £240 for it with free delivery which is still quite cheap when compared to other higher end screens.

I can honestly say that this can easily replace the Panasonic screen that most people are using/looking to buy.

Yea it's just under a frame of lag according to the site. It's what kray suggests on his page and what I ended up with since it was only $200. I still really want a 1080p one badly though.

You and me both. I can't find a single template anywhere. I'd settle for a blank one.

I haven't found speakers for my cab yet, but does the "no audio out" mean that it can't naturally support the speakers that should be installed above the screen? Without an hdmi switcher I mean.

I was just going to run component cables.
Those are all car speakers right? Do you just get a straight wire and need a receiver?

No need for a receiver, just buy a cheap amp.

For PS3/360 just use the AV cables along w/ hdmi...Dont use component it will lag.

Component lags? I never understood why HDMI doesn't, considering it's encrypted.
Can you use the AV cables with HDMI on an Xbox? I know you can with the PS3.
You'll have to excuse my ignorance on the Xbox. Mine is old and doesn't have HDMI. We'll be tossing my roommates Xbox in most likey (biggest HDD for everyones games)

If you want to run the speakers that are inside the TV then no need for any additional splitters etc. Forgot to mention, that particular Samsung doesnt have component input either. Pretty shit connectivity options but a very good screen none the less.

Ah. I don't mind using the speakers inside the TV, but it has holes for speakers to be installed. If I'm going to put speakers in there, I'd also want them to work if possible.

I am very puzzled about the component input on the Samsung screen. The one I had didn't have one at all. I remember when I took it out the box I spent about 30mins just trying to find where the rest of the connections are. The screen I used only had 2 x hdmi inputs, 1 x usb and coaxial/ariel socket. There was no component (HD) sockets anywhere. Any chance you can take a quick photo of the back of your screen please?

Edit: Here is the link to where I purchased my one from... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9127032.htm

You can see in the photos that it doesn't have any sort of component (HD) input but instead it has a scart input. They must use different connectivity options depending on country sold which sucks pretty bad.

To be honest, im not the type to blast the speakers considering your only sitting 1-2ft away from the screen. The TV speakers were very adequate in my opinion but its always nice to add external speakers via some sort of amplifier so you can turn your arcade cabinet into some sort of jukebox if you know what I mean.

I think some Samsung screens have a optional break out connector for component.
One end looks like a paire of audio jacks, the other has your RCA break outs

Oh me either, but the cabinet would look incomplete without speakers installed and if I'm going to install speakers, I'd want them usable and not just for show.

What do you guys have in regards to settings for your Samsung 32" TVs? Mine feels slightly laggy. Not super laggy, but just enough that my hypergrav loop timing is thrown off. I switched my 360 to output to 720p, turned on Game Mode, and renamed my hdmi input to GAME. Anything I'm missing?

If the TV supports VGA input, use that. Most 720p TVs are really 768p panels, and Xbox can output a true 768p signal via VGA. The less processing the panel has to do, the better. It does mean you'll have to split your audio out separately though, but since you plan on using the external speakers it shouldn't be an issue. That's what I do with my Panny, and it definitely helps.

edit: VGA as in 15pin DSUB connector.

So me and my roommate put down our deposit on a V4 2 Player. Is there a place to get high quality panel designs? I've found high quality SF4 cabinet art, but was hoping to find some high quality control panel examples. Or at least some measurements/templates.

Yes I'm thinking the same thing. Do anyone know where to get the psd file or some sort of template for this cab Kraylix V4 2player kit?

I dont know if you guys noticed but on the display lag page they have increased the ms to 26 on the Samsung UN32EH4003 LED...I mean wth? Maybe most people stick to the asus but come on that tv cost me 200+ dollars. I tought my timings where bad on combos and such and now I know.

Now the 60 inch sony shows thats better than my samsung, would you guys would risk to pay lots of dollars now that they changed those results?

I see a lot of people are using TV's for their Kraylix. Why don't more people use a monitor? Don't they have almost 0 lag?
  • stinkytofustinkytofu Joined: Posts: 34
Well, generally speaking, any monitors in the 32" size are going to be monstrously expensive, and have high resolutions that aren't really needed for this generation (or next gen) consoles.
  • PDukePDuke Joined: Posts: 158
They are more expensive, for sure. I wrestled with what to do for a while and finally caved in favor of a monitor. I think I got mine for $400. I figured since I have so much into it anyway, I might as well splurge on a nice monitor. No regrets. this thing looks and feels amazing

Please link me to any that exist.

I've been having some trouble with artwork on my Kraylix. I had heard a few people here printed theirs on posters, it works perfectly for the size of the templates. But I guess I need cardboard or something to mount them on?
The top portion of the cabinet has NO backing. You usually sandwich the artwork between something but there's nothing at the top, it's just a big empty portion. We taped it up temporarily but it looks hideous.
The artworks on the control panel also have issues. The buttons/stick area is very rough and unsanded, these push through the artwork and show texture through the poster paper. Same with where the move data goes, it has a big empty area beneath it. I don't understand why these areas aren't flat and finished. The two on the control panel can probably be solved with cheap posterboard from walmart but I'm curious what others have done.
The top portion of the cabinet straight up infuriates me though. The amount of rigging I've had to do on this cabinet is kind of upsetting.

I also can't figure out how to mount my speakers WITH the grill. Anyone perhaps have some insight?
    These are what I have:

    Syrous,

For the art, I bought a second upper piece from Kray and sandwhiched it that way. Worked like a charm. For the rest it was ok to fit under the plexi without issue. I don't notice a texture using a backlit film.

For the speakers, you should be able to use a screw through the grill and the speaker. That's how I mounted mine. Home Depot sells some black screw head covers you can use to hide them really well as well.

If you need artwork printed, I am getting some backlit paper for my machine here shortly and can print something really nice up for you!

Yeah, where have people been printing their art? It'd be great to get something on thick/heavy cardstock that won't fold in on itself, especially for the marquee on top.

It just seems so obvious you need the 2nd piece, why ship without it? He's been building these for years, what have people been doing? I finally got pissed enough at the speaker grills and figured out they come apart.
The speakers shipped with no directions whatsoever and looking at random installation videos wasn't shedding any light on these particular grills. I honestly thought I broke them. The grill itself pops out of the frame (the grill covers the screw holes)

I'll probably just mount some cardboard beneath the art. Thanks though.

As for the above question, we've been doing all our printing at Staples. They're really good and strangely well educated. But for that size they only do poster prints which actually look really nice, but I need something sturdier beneath.

Edit: also what kind of amps are people using? The small ones that seem appropriate all have some pretty terrible reviews on them (on Amazon).

Here is one for a little over $400. It has 8ms, which I think is fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001665

I would find a printshop for your art needs. My local guy sat me down with the art I had and helped me step by step. Ended up getting it printed on some type of vinyl that was made to be lit from behind
  • stinkytofustinkytofu Joined: Posts: 34
That's 8ms grey-to-grey response time actually, which is different from input time, unfortunately. Response time is how long it takes the monitor to transition colors/images to avoid a ghosting effect. That said, monitors generally do have much better input lag than TVs since there is less pre-processing of the signal.

The print shop might not be a bad idea, though I've had a tough time finding something locally. Last time I tried to get some magnetic numbers printed for my car and found it nearly impossible! I ended up just printing out a 8.5x11 sheet, taping it a magnetic sheet, and taking to it with some scissors. D:

Can anyone confirm if the plexiglass dimensions are the same as the artwork dimensions? I assume they are, but never hurts to confirm. I am thinking about going ultra-minimalist and doing a black plexi with some colored buttons. Nice and simple without being too busy.

It's a Viewlix style cab at a significantly lower cost that doesn't need a paint job, something I'd imagine many participants in this thread would be interested in. Kray's cabinets are much, much nicer looking, probably more solid as well, but you're talking $1235 painted for a 2 player setup versus $450 (minus shipping for both). Cost is a big factor for most people, and being able to buy something close to what you want is better than having to settle for drooling over something beyond your hobby budget- I figured it was worth sharing, in any case.

I'd like to see Kray build a control panel that features a swappable panel inside (something I could assist with with my metal endeavors). 1P or 2P. I just picked up a Taito Type X2 setup that I want to stick in mine with SF4 but the way that system is setup it's a 1P only board. Seems silly to have a second set of sticks doing nothing. Having the option to "quickly" swap panels would add a huge dimension to the cabinet.

Did he modify the plans? It looks like 2 buttons are stock on the sides now and there are more holes for the speaker grills on the bottom!? I like!

I came across a cheaper option while browsing at work last night, no painting needed: http://www.recroommasters.com/sit_down_arcade_p/rm-xt-sd-t.htm

They also have lost of other cheap prefab arcade kits, though most of them are designed for X-arcade sticks. Anyone here familiar with that company's work?

What does this have to do with a Kraylix? If you want to know more about it create a new thread about those cabs or search to see if there is already a thread made about it.

    X-Arcade is Junk.

Yeah. that seems to be the consensus. I'd either use fightsticks with it or drill my own control panel- there's a blank panel option.

and the money you spend doing a new control panel would bump up the price to a point where you might as well just get an actual cab. Or hell just get the control panel from Kray and still potentially save money overall.

Hey guys I have a question about how to hook up my speakers.
So I have my amp and my speakers hooked up and everything works but I'm stuck using the normal AV Cords to get sound to the amp because my Samsung TV doesn't have audio out jacks. so my video quality sucks using the AV cords. Is there any way to use HDMI for video and component for sound? Or should I be hooking up everything a different way.
I hope that makes sense and thanks for the help in advance

Are you using this for a 360 or PS3?

For 360 have your HDMI connect to your TV. Then connect your audio 360 AV cable to your amp. In PS3 i believe you would have to go under the audio setting & deselect HDMI & choose audio input/scart/AV multi to get the sound to come out of your amp/speaker setup.

im using a 360 and my problem is there isnt enough space to plug in both my AV cord and my hdmi cable at the same time on my 360.
the av cord covers the only hdmi slot when plugged in. so its forcing me to use either just the hdmi or just the AV cords.

Yeah when i used my setup i was using VGA & audio. Looks like it wont fit AV & HDMI at the same time. You can buy yourself an HDMI AV cable adapter on ebay.

or just hack your existing cable
