Fan fiction time. This one is called "Ryu vs the Master of Winning!"

Ryu looked at the mansion's front gate with some trepidation. This did not look like the house of a great fighter.

He pushed the call button. A crackling voice responded with "Please state your business here."

Ryu said, "I am searching for a great warrior. I was told that the one who lives here knows much of victory."

The call box answered, "I'm not really sure what you're talking about. Generally, we only want girls, blow, or pizza."

Ryu contemplated this strange answer. He knew what girls and pizza were, but "blow" was a mystery. Finally, he stated simply, "I will not be denied. I must learn more about victory, and people say that this is the home of the master of victory."

The call box answered, "I'm sorry, sir, but you should go elsewhere. The man doesn't have time for you."

Ryu sighed. In his journeys, he had learned that sometimes one needed to make an impressive entrance in order to convince a teacher that he was a worthy pupil.

He kicked the door off its hinges, shouting out "Joudan Sokutogeri!" Incomprehensible, frenzied squawking came from the call box as Ryu ran towards the mansion.

Ryu arrived at the fountain in front of the main entrance just in time to see a man come out on to the balcony above. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses, and nothing else. Ryu stopped, surprised at the idea that this might be a great warrior who could teach him about victory.

Several naked women wandered onto the balcony, standing nervously behind the man in the Hawaiian shirt.

There was a long silence as the man stared at Ryu, and Ryu stared back.

Finally, Ryu spoke. "I was told that this is the mansion of one who knows much of victory. I have traveled a long way to learn from him. Are you this man?"

Behind his sunglasses, Charlie Sheen smiled and said, "Well, I know a lot about #winning! Come on in and we'll see what you can learn!"

Charlie Sheen has a really super awesome crouch MP.
    Better than Ryu's.

Hey all, I'll be at Meta tonight with my setup. I just need someone to bring a PS3 stick. Looking forward to some good games.
  • King Takes PawnKing Takes Pawn Joined: Posts: 345
Right on. Unfortunately all I have is a 360 stick, which I will bring. I think it's time to try and engineer my own multi-platform breakout board.

Up at meta now. You should all come out. With systems.

Good games to everybody last night. That was a lot of fun. I'll be practicing this week.

Sang, here is the link for the Asus monitor rebate. It only works for monitors purchased in July. They run this offer often so anyone that misses out can probably get this in the future.

I approve of that sentence above me.

So angry that Persona: Arena comes out the day after our get together. >:C
Some posts have come up on Youtube detailing the Challenge Modes of stuff and whatnot for about half the cast, btw.

Posting here to give a slight heads-up. I might not be able to make it tomorrow since my father is wanting me over for a barbecue to assist with a small party. He said he could only trust my gunshot to OTG for him, so yeah (/fuckingwat?). If I do manage to get out, it'll be around 8.

So yeah, perfect chance for you to use your new setup, Sang.

A.R.K. V is about a month away and we'd love to see all you guys there! We're expecting about 200 people from ~10 different states (including confirmed attendance from Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana, California, and Oklahoma) and are throwing in at least $1400 in bonus pots to support some of our games (including $600 each for AE and UMvC3). It will be on August 25th/26th in Jacksonville, AR with games such as Super Street Fighter IV: AE, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, King of Fighters XIII, Persona 4 Arena, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, Soul Calibur V, Street Fighter X Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, and SkullGirls.

For more information (including an estimate on how much 1st/2nd/3rd will win in AE/UMvC3), visit the official thread here (http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/aug-25-2012-ark-v-1400-bonus-pots-feat-the-best-of-the-south-jacksonville-ar.158608/) or holler at me. For anyone who wants to come, I heavily encourage you to preregister online at www.arktourney.com/registration before August 18th to save money on venue fee.

  • hypnautixhypnautix Joined: Posts: 117
We should be there at 12pm leaving around 8:00am and return when we are all eliminated from the tournament or the till the tournament ends which I'm assuming around 10 o clock at night or probably later.

I was so fucking confused for a good 2 minutes as I looked at the July portion of my calendar.

I'd really like to go, but I'm not sure since I'll also be buying dat Persona in the same week and whatnot. More will develop as the week plays out.

I know Torrey has picked it up and he's learning Akihiko.

What's the best/cheapest/easiest way to go about getting my 360 stick dual modded within the Springfield area? I'm really bad with electronics in general and don't want to risk screwing it up myself.

Or, if there's just some kind of plug-in-and-play adapter I can order online, that'd be amazing.

Adapting a 360 Stick to PS3, is impossible. It just won't work, for some reason I don't feel like getting into atm/don't entirely remember.

Modding, is generally an easy task for yourself, if you know how to solder. You can basically buy one of those nifty little Fightpads with the 6 face buttons instead of the classic 4. (L1 and R1 are on the face too). There are also countless guides to modding on SRK.

Also, if you're interested into buying an entirely new stick, you can find yourself a bitching new Qanba 4 (Which may be what I do). These bad dudes come dual modded for the price of a regular TE.

I'm not entirely sure about people who mod stuff in the area, but in the Tech Talk area of SRK, you should be able to find out a lot more.

Actually, depending on your method, it's not hard. In a worst case, you can always double up your button wiring. The first one I did was a ghetto xbox hori stick and an old ps3 gen one pad; I just wired both to the same buttons and had two cords sticking out. If you can solder a pad, this always works.

PS3 Device Identification is way less invasive and strict than the 360. If your looking to run a 360 stick on a PS3, run a cthulhu and an imp, colloquially called chimp.

Here is the old and very well documented thread: http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-official-cthulhu-and-chimp-thread-try-our-new-dreamcast-flavor.46572/

They're not. The effective ones are required to interface before proprietary encoding, and have to be stuffed directly into the existing board in a specific place.
The ones that simply plug into the usb are unforgivably laggy.

I have the 14th off work, though I do live in Bolivar, about 25 miles north of Springfield (real easy to get to though, just straight highway between the two). I may be going to KC on the 15th for a tournament, and then I work on the 16th. But if you're able to head out, just lemme know, I'll get you the info necessary.

Cool, yeah I'll keep ya updated. I was thinking my mom's birthday was that weekend, but it's actually the weekend prior, and then my dad's birthday is the next weekend, so I think it'll fit perfectly. Not sure if the family is going to have anything else planned, but if something comes up, I'll let you know.

Labor Day is tomorrow but Meta Games is open. Trying to figure out if I can make it. Is anyone planning on being there?
  • MarkusMarkus Squirrel Enthusiast. Joined: Posts: 121
Okay. Fucking. Clearly I didn't make it out today. I kinda just feel like, in a bit of a slump in general right now. I haven't even touched Persona or BB since the last time I was at Meta. I think a lot of my problem is just trying to find the time to do all the stuff I want to/need to. Either way, I think I'm going to take a break for a little bit (I may still, however, head to Maxout).

Things will probably be a lot better too once I get some real fucking hours at K-Mart or a different job that actually pays attention to the hours I want to work.
