When this is available to the masses; dual modder's income will plummet!
Nope. In the end, people still hate messing with wires.
Good shit Toodles. I wish I'd known about this sooner. Gummo showed me one this weekend and I thought I was either going to drool or cream my pants. Possibly both. If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Well, for TE's, I think people unsure of their ability (people without 'the knack') may want a tech to do it, but once I get the guide up, they'll have a much better idea of what it will take. The really nice thing as got to be FOR the techs that do installs. It has GOT to make the install time way short, especially if they have spare TE pcbs ready ahead of time. Hook up the ribbons and the Kitty->TE USB wires so all you need to do to mod someone stick is cut the USB wire, unplug the existing ribbons, screw down/solder the four USB wires, plug and done.
Now the VLX one, nah, you dont even need the knack for that. They've been field tested with 4 out of 5 autistic chimpanzee's getting it first try, and that fifth chimpanzee was busy in training mode for Dark Phoenix combos. Stupid simple install.
Speaking of which, its a good sign when your first install of all production parts goes swimmingly. I just put one into a MvC2 TE, taking pictures all of the way, so I have pictures to go with the instructions for the install guide I'm writing. Doing the same for the VLX will be like 5 minutes, tops, taking pictures all of the way.
Is it possible to remove a 360 PCB from a 360 SE, put it in a PS3 TE and have it daisy chain with a Kitty TE?
Everything will work fine, but you're probably going to want the LED daughterboard from the SE as well, so you'd end up having the white plastic LED/Guide/Turbo section on the black TE case.
Well, that's if you can remove the daughterboard cover from the SE. I'm not 100% on that part but I think you can.

Toodles. Is there a way to tell if the FW has been updated w/o trying it in another machine? I went over to a buddies and tried installing the new FW with no avail.

Any information on what the problem with the firmware update was? But no, there's no way to check the firmware version installed. I did put one on the board and tested before I brought it to you. I need information about the problems you're seeing and how its behaving and what you're testing on.
I saw in the 2nd post that these aren't yet working on the TE-S sticks.... I'm guessing this applies to the Blazblue and Chun Li sticks that also use the updated PCB?
I'll be dual modding my blazblue stick in the next few weeks and would like to try out the new board if it'd work.

If the lock switch also disables the start and select, then it isn't currently support. Chun is out, but I dont know about the blazblue stick because I've never seen one.

I have one and it does. I guess I'll be going back to the MC Cthulhu/Imp route.
So after reading the first posts, I'm still a bit confused. It has full support for the R1 TE on all the consoles that the MC Cthulu supports, and it goes in an Xbox 360 stick, but it doesn't work on the 360? Did I read that right and am I understanding that this is meant to expedite dual mods as opposed to being a dual mod in itself?
If this is NOT 360 compatible, could that please be edited in the first post? I have a feeling that will clear up much confusion.

I haven't confirmed this 100%, but I believe it was mentioned somewhere that the BlazBlue TE uses the 2nd gen PCB from the TE "S".

Damn near identical pcb's, but they are wired very differently, so each one will have to have different Kitties for each. But, please understand, it's gonna be a bit. Even once I get a layout and installation I like, which can be difficult, then comes the fun of setting things up to properly recognize and use the turbo sliders.
Assuming the MK9 stick will be common ground (which I know is a huge assumption at this point), will there be any chance of an MK Kitty in the forseeable future?
I wonder if anyone know about which PCB is in the X360 Asian TE (the all white one with no game branding).
I really want to get a TEKitty but it has the same color and button layout as the BlazBlue TE so I'm wondering it has the currently incompatible updated PCB too?

Same rules apply: If lock switch disables Start and Select, you'll have to wait for the TE-S harness. If not, you're good to go.
According to d3v in this thread: http://shoryuken.com/f177/te-differences-233795/
It should be perfectly fine as-is and doesn't require the TE-S harness.
Hey d3v, speaking of which, from what I've seen so far, the different Xbox360 models of TE that have different button layouts use identical pcb's for the distribution block and main board; the only differences are different LED/Guide/Turbo pcbs, so that the LED signal go to the LED for that layout. Makes a ton of sense since the LED daughterboard would be the easiest and cheapest to make changes to and other versions. It also saves my ass so that the light up LED stuff works as it should as long as the button layout matches what that LED daughterboard was setup for.
I'm thinking about picking a kitty for an xbox360 VLX. Does the Kitty PCB make hooking up the yet to be released SPARK any easier or more difficult? Will SPARK be compatible with Kitty?
Toodles, Will you be making RJ-45 system cables available through lizardlick? If I do the kitty mod I would be interested in PS3, Dreamcast and Gamecube compatibility.

Hooking a Spark up to a TE Kitty will be stupid simple since the power wire will just screw into a screw terminal. VLX version has a through hole you can solder the power wire to, or you can jimmy rig it with the 'shove wire into connector' method.

Not sure about myself or LizardLick making them; no plans set in stone yet. But, I do know the Nitewalker and probably other techs have them for sale in the Trading Outlet.
On the TE, cutting off the *nub* from the usb wire that's on the inside of the cable compartment would have no effect whatsoever on functionality--correct? I wanted to make the USB cable jusssst a bit shorter before wiring it to the Kitty board.
I don't think I understand what you're asking, and I'd hate to give a bad answer on something that could mess up the mod. Can you tell me more about what you're trying to do and what you're thinking of cutting?
TE Install guide updated to include screwdriver trick for removing the JST PH connectors (all of them except the headset and the joystick connectors) easily.

On a TE, when you pull out the entire length of the cable from the compartment... there's that cylinder that prevents the cable going any furter *into* the case--that. Could I cut that off to shorten the cable a bit?
Sure. I think it is another ferrite ring meant to help with the stability of the signal, so I may not be too receptive if you have intermittant disconnects, but I'd expect it'll work just peachy.

Well.. would I be accomplishing that signal stability if I put back the ferrite ring that was taken off during installation? That larger one that's *inside* the case that the cable was wrapped in & around? Or is that not the same thing?

Hey Toodles,
Do you still have some of the TE Kitty boards left? I'm waiting for payment on one of my Namco sticks I have for sale. Once I get that I would like to pick up one of these. I'd pick up 2 but my other X360 TE is a Chun Li, so I will have to wait for that reversion.

Any chance you'd create a PS3 version of this, exactly the same just without the ability to use on 360? I don't think I'm alone, but I'd love to use this board on my PS3 sticks but I'm not gonna buy a 360 stick just to get it :(
Toodles, just completed the install. Any reason why 2p would trigger both 2p+3p at the same time (Windows XP buttons 4+5 in game controller applet)? I disconnected all the connections to the 360 TE because I thought there might be some bridged connections, but it's still happening. I don't see any exposed wires on either end of the harness that goes from the terminal block to the 360 end.
Also, the TE lights light up on button/directional press only sometimes. Is that indicative of something?
Edit - aha, getting somewhere, I think. 2p will only activate 2p+3p when the harness is connected to the Kitty. It doesn't even have to be connected to the TE PCB; just being connected seems to bridge 2p & 3p. Pictures attached - note and compare the lights on the guide section.

How did the bootloader test go? Did the player LEDs light up properly? Is the LED issue still there in bootloader mode?
Gut reaction says its a mixup in the HRV ribbons between Kitty and daughterboard, but the bootloader test should have caught that.
